The full day snorkel and Buck Island tour is totally worth it. We had Kendall and Bethany as our captain and guide. What a fun tour. It is a smaller boat than other tour companies so that means a smaller group of people and it's more intimate. Plenty of time to snorkel and at Buck Island. The cruise back is great, especially with the rum punch. Highly recommend!

This was our first time on the island and we couldn't have been more pleased to have chosen this company to charter our family privately for an afternoon of snorkeling and fun. Captain Matt and Randy were funny, friendly, and informative. They were also super patient with the three kids in our group. We are already planning to use them next year when we come back! Oh, and did I mention rum punch? Thanks for a great time guys, you were the cherry on top of a great vacation!
We booked a private charter for a party of eight and had an amazing time. Captain Matt and Keith were friendly, fun, and helped us personalize our trip. Keith was very knowledgeable of the Island and helped our group, almost all us novices, get used to the snorkels in calm water before exploring the reef. Couldn t ask for a better experience and can t wait to book again!
Matt and Michelle were such an awesome team; very knowledgeable and friendly! This was my first time snorkeling and they made me feel at ease. The charter left right on time for Buck Island and arrived back to the Christiansted boardwalk on time as well. Initially, our trip did get rescheduled for some reason from Tuesday to Thursday, but the timing ended up working out for us. This is a MUST when visiting St Croix! Can't wait to go back!
Had a fabulous time with Captain Scott and his crewmen Randy and Cody! Only 10 adventurous souls rode with Captain Scott to Buck Island for a half day tour on Betty Ann tour boat. Captain Scott was intimately knowledgeable about the area that we visited and Randy and Cody were great guides in the water while snorkeling. We enjoyed seeing parrot fish and barracuda while snorkeling. Brain coral, elk coral among others were viewed among hundreds of species of fish.
We visited turtle beach around the other side of the island. Captain Scott pointed out many nearby nesting sites where sea turtles had laid eggs. These sites are marked to prevent them being disturbed by our visit to this preserve.
Randy accommodated our preference for a virgin rum punch by serving us just punch. If you have a liking for rum punch they serve you up a wonderful option! Thanks Randy for serving our tour mates as they desired!
Cody was very kind and knowledgeable about the area. He has lived here most of his life with a few trips thrown in to the states where he works as a sushi chef in New York.
Michelle was a great facilitator for getting us accommodation for the Buck island tour. Turned out she was native to the area I call home. Had to travel most of the way across the states and islands to meet her. Thanks Michelle, Captain Scott, Randy and Cody for your kindness and support today! Love you!
Don t delay a trip to the island of St. Croix with worries about hurricane damage from last year. The people of the island have been extremely kind and loving to be around. They have been busy in serving visitors and rebuilding their damaged structures. A few piers are still missing around the island. A few structures are yet to be rebuilt. Your visit will bring lasting memories and resources to allow the islanders to continue building and providing wonderful experiences such as mine to you and your families and friends.
My friends and I work in and around the tour boat industry in the Caribbean and have to say Jackie at the front desk, Captain Tommy, and mate Sophie were all wonderful at their jobs. Super helpful, informative, and fun. It takes a certain personality and they were all just great. Really cool to see the grottos and learn about the reef of Buck island. Thanks for a great time!
Did the full day sailing trip with Grant and Jeff. Our crew was first rate in skill, personality and getting to know everyone on board. Very laid back trip with plenty of beach time and the snorkeling was phenomenal. Could not have asked for a better experience.
Our group of 9 took a catamaran day trip to Buck Island on 3/13/18 with Grant and Key. Great guys to talk to and they made our trip very enjoyable. Buck Island snorkeling and beach are awesome.
Oh my! Only 10 in our group so we definitely got lots of one on one tips, help, and a tour guide who was close and easy to hear. Moose and Michelle were our captain and underwater tour guides... Michelle pointed out and gave the names of the coral and fish. She pointed out barracuda and lobster as well. We were a diverse group... from non-swimmers to first time snorkelers to advanced snorkelers ..Michelle made it a fun adventure for all of us. We toured with her, then had 20-25 minutes to explore more on our own. Captain Moose then took us to the beach on the other side of Buck Island to enjoy the crystal tropical warm water and sandy beach that went on forever. After we were out of National Park waters, rum punch, water, and soda was served. Friendly and knowledgeable crew!!
Great trip! 1st time snorkelers and kinda scared about it too. The young ladies who instructed us were phenomenal! They were patient with us and never let us, "go it alone". I called earlier in the day and Julie was so helpful. All around great experience. Thank you!
Best day ever!! You must snorkle with Carribean Sea Adventures. From the time you book, until you return, thry are amazing. Our tour guides were awesome and so patient. I panicked and they worked with me to finally get me on my way. Beautiful reefs and sea animals. Very clean and clear. Beach was clean and water was like glass. We didn't want to leave. Thanks so much for an amazing experience. We will be back
The crew on our tour were funny, knowledgeable and very safety aware. We were picked up from the dock at the Buccaneer by their motor boat and there were approximately 16 of us in the tour. We did the full day, 10 AM to 4 PM tour which gave us plenty of snorkeling and beach time at Turtle Beach. You could probably do the half day tour and have just as fun with adequate beach time. 6 hours in the sun can be tough if you're pale like me. Overall, what an awesome trip this was!
I had the most amazing morning with Carribean Sea Adventures. The owners taught me how to snorkel and guided me through a trail of coral for one of the best times of my life. Thank you Miles and Emily!
We were first-time snorkelers who took the day long Buck Island trip, and had a total blast. The crew were relaxed and patient teachers for those of us who had never done it before, and gave more experienced snorkelers the opportunity to have a more advanced experience at the same time. Captain Randy was great.
-Capt is awesome as well as the deckhand/tour guide.
-Very relaxed trip as only about 8 of us was on the boat.
-very professional company
-Capt will let you sit up top as well with him on second wheel house deck.
-Don't book anywhere else but here.
-Bring some food with you as you will have time to eat. I would bring something that is cold maybe like sandwiches and chips or something of that nature. If I would do it again I would do this:
-Sandwich -Chips -Water -Snacks like Gummy Bears OR Cookies, Peanuts, Almonds, etc.
-The water is very salty and it will make you sick to your stomach if you ingest to much. You may possibly vomit as well. Imagine taking in a teaspoon full of salt. That is exactly what the water tastes like. Also I would suggest buying a GOPRO underwater camera or a camera that is capable of going underwater like a disposable which is what I did. I would wear clothes just as if you were going to a beach as you will be provided flippers for snorkeling. Go up .5 of a shoe size when they ask you what size you wear on the boat. They will provide them to you once you're about 10 minutes from the snorkeling spot. The beach they take you too is great as well. There is a restroom in the shop where you will meet at prior to leaving for the trip. They will store your items for you as well on the boat. No need to bring a lot of stuff. A book bag with your food and water is fine. You don't need anything else.
Awesome experience one of the highlights in coming out here to st croix. The crew was wonderful and the deckhand/ captains assistant was knowledgeable about all the fish. We saw a lot of interesting things. The coral are beautiful and the school of blue tang made the trip. We also saw stingrays and a small shark. Yes scary. Chased by a barracuda fish and had a great day. We did the snorkelers paradise and if you want to see stingrays and sharks this is the company to go with, this is the only package that takes you to the second location as well. Highly recommend and it is a once in a lifetime trip. Rum at the end was fun and you get to know everybody in your party.
I took my family to the Caribbean Sea Adventures morning tour on two different days. They pick up at The Buccaneer resort (weather permitting) which is very convenient if staying there. They told us about Buck Island then led us on a great tour through the reef. On the second visit we didn't have to wait for the tour and went off and explored. After snorkeling they took us to a great little beach on the west side of the island for some exploration and body surfing for those inclined. Super friendly staff and a great tour - totally worth it!
Full day excursion out to Buck Island with Kendal as our captain. Staff was incredibly knowledgable and gave us a nice debrief on the history of the island. On the island they let us tour the coral reef which is breath-taking followed by a few hours of docking at the beach on the other end of the island to soak up the sun. The ride back was a relaxing 3 hour sail in with no engines and nothing more than the wind guiding us. They even served rum punch which was all included in the price. This was a wonderful experience and when and if we are back in STX we will definitely tour with them again.
Mouse, Nicole, and Captain Tom were the best! They gave you great information about Buck Island. My son and husband were beginners. They worked with them and by the end, they both were pros!! Jackie in the store was great as well. I would choose Sea Adventures again and encourage you too!
Im not sure if this is the correct place im reviewing, but if you come across this review it is for Buck Island Tours (from Frederiksted) on the Boardwalk. Possibly Big Beard's? Not sure. Anywho, my husband and I were here on our honeymoon and thoroughly enjoyed this trip. I have never been snorkeling before (he has) and I 1. Can't swim and 2. Have a severe fear of not being able to breathe (asthma contributes). Somehow I decided I wanted to "conquer " this fear and snorkel *shrug*. I absolutely panicked the first time I got in the water and put my face in. I had a double body experience. On one hand, I could totally see the ocean floor and saw all the pretty fish, but at the same time I realized ny only method of breathing was "mouth breathing" (totally unreliable as an asthmatic. Smh) so I started heaving and crying and they got me out of there. I was determined to try again and Grace was particularly amazing. She sat with me on the edge of the boat and talked me through practicing mouth breathing. She also took my snorkel off and suggested I just hold my breath (and breathe out of course). Totally worked! I then went on to have an amazing time and I was the last person to get out of the water and back on the boat!
Buck island itself is beautiful! The sand is sooo soft but be wary there is nothing on the island but sun sand water and an upgraded port a potty. So bring lunch/ snacks and water games if you like!
The crew also gave us rum punch! And had a cooler to store food while on the boat.
Crew was delightful, and the sights couldn't be beat! We did the full day "Snorkeler's Paradise" at Buck Island. The "underwater trail" was busy but it was easy to find some secluded spots to explore. The highlight was that our captain dropped us about a half mile away from Turtle Beach, and our guide floated with us to the beach, snorkeling along the way. We saw turtles, sharks, sting rays, and loads of colorful fish. Would 100% recommend! WEAR SUNSCREEN and clothes!
I took a full day tour (9AM to 3PM) with Caribbean Sea Adventures the first week of January 2020. The tour to Buck Island was by far the BEST part of my trip to St. Croix. The crew was fun and professional and the snorkeling at Buck Island was absolutely amazing. I have been snorkeling in various spots around Hawaii and Frederiksted, St. Croix but I have never seen such big coral structures before this tour. We got to snorkel in two different places around the island and each location was awesome in their own right. At both locations we were able to see a Lemon Shark and swim with jellyfish. The jellyfish were not harmful and amazing to swim alongside. After snorkeling, the guides take you to a beach on Buck Island where you can swim and eat lunch. The beach was stunning! It had pristine, blue water and white sand. The captain also let you jump into the water from the top of the boat (we took a boat and not a sailing vessel due to wind conditions). I cannot recommend this tour enough and my review does not do it justice. Definitely make time for this tour during your visit to St. Croix!
On time, friendly and made a great memorable experience for my lady, daughter and me. Buck island reef National park is a gem. Must see before you die. Half day tour was perfect for entertaining my 12yo and getting her back for an afternoon wind down (aka nap)
What a great half-day trip to Buck Island! The captain and crew (Moose, Summer, and Sophie) were fabulous and I really appreciated the opportunity to stop at the beach side of Buck Island first to familiarize myself with snorkeling again. The crew offered a very helpful snorkeling tips & tricks training that made a huge difference for those feeling uncertain. Once we got to the reef side of the island, I can t give enough thanks to Sophie as the leader of my group letting me follow behind holding onto the ring. I have asthma and I knew too much mouth-only breathing & exertion would set off an attack. Instead I had the security of the ring if an attack happened and I was able to enjoy to snorkel tour. Thanks so much for a fabulous afternoon!
Fantastic. Buck Island was sensational. One of the very few underwater National Park preserves. Grace was a patient, kind snorkel guide. She made us feel so comfortable in the water. Matt is a wonderful captain and has the perfect disposition. It was a great excursion. Can't wait to do it all again.
My wife, daughter and I had an amazing experience on this Buck Island snorkeling trip. Michelle was an amazing guide, and Captain Tommy was very nice. I recommend them highly!
Snorkeling was AMAZING!! The team of guides were so great, and the caption was perfect. Pickup and dropoff from The Buccaneer! We did half day, so glad they are open they covid (july 2020). Ally was our guide and she made it really special. Some people couldent go as far out to the coral as others could, and Ally made sure that it was still a really special experience for those who stayed closer to the boat. Also, they bring you to the beach at buck island which is the most beautiful beach you will ever see. Ally did a great job of helping seasick people, but also guiding us all through the history of where we were!! Rum punch at the end was fun!
