Already visited a few years ago. Thus ends the real discography of the Stones in 1971 in this recording at Nellcote. Beggars Banquet .. Let it bleed .. Sticky Fingers .. And the monstrous Exile in main street that I didn't appreciate as much until a few years later. I was tripping too much on Sticky and the live Get yer ya ya's out. With the added bonus. The genius of Mick Taylor and the magnificent photos of Dominique Tarle. The French of the gang. Apart from the suppliers of Keith and Graham Parson.
It's only rock roll and I always like the Stones

Still as groovy as it was back in the days of Stones recording here to escape British taxes. Was here for EXILE ON MAINSTREET recording as the recording engineer for the auxillery takes. Did some crazy stuff here with Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts. Those were the days and it was fun but would certainly kill me today.

The single greatest album in Rock History (Exile on Main Street) was birthed in the basement of this Villa in 1971. While most tracks were then later completed in Los Angeles, the roots of what today is accepted as Keith Richard's greatest masterpiece began here. A consistent revolving door of hangers on, celebrities, musicians (including Gram Parsons, who's country soul influence abounds on this album) and "merchants" plying their wares settled in with Keith and the Stone's recording team in that glorious summer. Now, it is owned by a Russian billionaire and unfortunately you cannot tour it, but the walls of Nellcote will forever be synonymous with the legend of Exile.
