Extremely rich collection of arts of every epoch! Museum is huge, so you have to either select what particularly you would like to see, or be prepared to spend there the whole day (and even more probably).
Be aware that it has security control at the entrance, as most of museums in D.C.
It is also free of charge.
The museum shop is marvellous!
There is also couple of cafes inside.

I was blown away by how many works of note were here and was thrilled to see them in person. Just make sure that whoever you bring understands not to cross the lines around the sculptures or touch the art - my small children had trouble with that, but the guards were all professional and courteous about it.

My favourite museum in the national mall. It is laid out well and has an amazing collection. I highly recommend taking the tunnel from the east building to the west building. It is kind of out of the way so not many people know about it but it is very cool.

The National Gallery of Art is an amazing collection of art. The layout is such that you can find what you want to see, while also wander and see new things. There are two buildings, one with modern art and one with more traditional art. You can go between the two via a beautiful underground hallway. I think you could spend days in this museum. Luckily, like all Smithsonian museums, it's free... so you can come and go. We are lucky to have the Smithsonian museums. Highly recommend a stop at the National Gallery if you are in DC. Wonderful and important art pieces in sufficiently large spaces often with very comfortable seating, and all free. I could easily go often if I lived in DC. In NYC it would easily cost $25-$30 for the same.

Beautiful building with amazing artwork. I've always wanted to visit the national gallery and I am so glad that I finally made it here. You can go back again and again and still not take it all in. You will enjoy your visit.

Like American representative museums, their works are great. The flow of art history has been systematically organized and the works from the early works to the later works are exhibited evenly. Awesome.

I think a lot of families skip this museum because younger kids may get bored or may not understand. My kids did get bored after a while but the experience was too important to miss. Now they look back and pictures and understand how cool it was that they got to see such beautiful pieces of history.

Rude security staff and filthy, dated restrooms undermined the visit. I won t go back

Very chatty staff. I appreciate it is a dull job to watch a museum but I don t appreciate the talking when I m observing the works of art.

A superb museum that presents a collection of superb and varied European works. Rich in themes (Flemish painting, Italian Renaissance, Spanish baroque, French impressionism), he does not forget the USA and the presentation of the impressionism of American painters.
European painters are honored, such as Da Vinci, Monet, Rembrandt, Courbet ... As well as sculptors like Rodin.
An impressive museum and one of the most beautiful to see me!

Loved it! The place is huge, and I got lost. Better get a map of the place and ask the front desk receptionist which paintings/artists you want to see. They allowed me to take pictures and the gift shop is pretty good too.

One of, if not the best art museums in the United States! The building itself is a magnificently gorgeous piece of architecture! The curators have done a fantastic job acquiring stunning pieces to add to the collection. You'll find Van More

I'm a huge fan of history and art. The NGA has the ONLY LEONARD DIVINCHIE painting in the western hemisphere and so much more. It's free, and has so much to offer. I could spend days in there looking at all the art, going through their enormous library, checking out there out door sculpture garden and out door winter ice skating rink. Amazing place, don't miss it if your in downtown Washington dc
