Great museum with great interiors and superb choice of art. I particularly enjoyed American art section as well as collection of XIXth century photographies as they are not something to come across in European Museums. There is also a lot of European art as well, like Dutch and Italian masters, including Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Verrocchio and Da Vinci. Definitely it is a museum in which one could spend 2-3 days in. I highly recommend going there even to see the highlights and the beautiful interiors.
So much to see. So lucky to be able to visit. Free!
There is a lot of nice art exhibited in large quiet galleries.
Apart from the collection the building is very interesting
A lot of wonderful collections, you can't finish the day, there is no distance between the artworks, and more importantly, it's free!
Provide a return service.
Those who love to paint can also apply for painting in advance.
The underground art store is wonderful... connecting the Modern Wing with the traditional gallery. The little cafe in the middle of the National Gallery is a nice place to stop for lunch, although a little pricey. It's such a huge gallery, that you should really try to get the tour to get the highlights.
Another one of my favorite places to visit on a Saturday afternoon...
Amazing collection. Also, free admission makes the flow of people smooth like butter..the building is amazing too
Beautiful! My daughter got to see historical pieces that she has been studying
Very good. A truly great experience. Come out and enjoy some culture.
Great place, espetially the west building, which contains the most valuable art pieces. Access is free for everyone.
You will walk a lotbut never feel tired this museum is full of wonderful art
Was very happy to spend a few hours here. I hope to visit again. Guards were very knowledgeable about history and physical location of pieces.
Excellent place! You can add more adjectives as long as you want.
Easy access by walking, very nice cafeteria and shop.
So many paintings and art objects that you can only see in books. My favorites are in impressionism area. Also it was a good opportunity to meet very good american painters that I've never heard about.
Mind blowing. The sheer volume of fantastic art is incredible. Beautiful building and it would take a week to see everything properly.
It's so nice but you have to take the time to watch
For illustration, but none itneunge many strange and wonderful
Personally, I much more fun than the Museum of Natural History.
And over here than Fort National Gallery Nazareth recommended in the gallery.
There are so many things to see
Not that big of an art fan but I enjoyed it nevertheless, had collections from some amazing painters, worth a visit
It is not the MET, but still very valid, above all because the museums in Washington are free admission
If you go here, plan to spend an entire day. We went for about 3 hours and it wasn't enough time.
The Vermeer exhibit was excellent. I would have enjoyed the exhibit more if people were not allowed to take pictures of every painting and writing. The picture taking prevented the crowd flow from moving and appreciate the equisit paintings.
Fantastic collections of art. Notable building and exhibit halls.
Go on one of the free tours. Great to visit over and over
My favorite. It has quite a few Monet. And the seasonal exhibition makes each visit a bit different.
Very nice.. there are some unique pieces, it was very interesting. These are two of my favorites..
Always good to see some art in the Capitol, this is one of many art stops in the area
Fantastic very relaxing takes alot of time so much to see recommend going
Sprawling collection...just let yourself get lost. I noticed that only a couple of rooms did not permit photography, which I found both surprising and enjoyable as I like to photograph artwork when permitted. My only request? They should expand their collection of American art.
If you love Rembrandt and the classics like Van Gogh and Monet, then this is the museum for you. I personally appreciate art so I enjoyed myself quite a bit. Taking pictures is allowed only in some sections.
There's a million trillion billion reasons why I love this place but I wont ruin the element of surprise for you just go visit please you'll fall in love!
The Sacrament of Last Supper, Virtutem forma decorat, Flemish, French halls. Museum store is superb. Louvre glass pyramid mock up is great. Driving up to the entrance/exit is marvelous for the weak feet.
Best. Free admission. Free tour and very enlightening tour. Great book store . I wanted to learn more about arts and the cashier is very knowledgable and helpful with my selection. A lot of great artists' work like de Vinci and Picasso and yet there are not many people at all.
The gallery is located "opposite" the aeronautical museum, so it is worth allocating one day for both exhibitions.
Wonderful place to visit!! Great exhibits and tours. The staff are friendly and helpful. The cafeteria had great options and not unfairly priced for the area and quality. West side was my favorite but going over to the East was worth the effort ... fun concourse moving sidewalk and great architecture even if you re not into modern art.
This is the art museum of the United States. Showing the only Leonardo in the Western hemisphere
Amazing oil paintings. The old paintings and details just blows your mind away.
Wonderful place in the Capital. So much fantastic art and it is still free. Well, the taxpayers are paying, but it is a fabulous museum.
Lots of great paintings and sculptures. I learned a lot.
Fantastic exhibits, stunning architecture, all for free!
Excellent place for lovers of painting and art, a different experience.
Fantastic display and very well kept. Even when it is busy, you are still able to appreciate the art. There is also a fantastic little esspreso and gelato shop underground in the hallway that connects the east and west buildings. The lattes and white mochas are delicious.
This place is huge! You really need two days to see this place. Love seeing the pablo picasso paintings.
Huge and encyclopedic. Don't try to do it all in one day.
Like all the museums on the National Mall, the National Gallery of Art is free. As with many other museums, there is a permanent collection and a rotating collection. I would set aside a considerable amount of time if you plan to see all of it.
Amazing place. The variety of art is impressive. They have sculptures and paintings from all over the world. My favorite was Monet, Manet and, of course, the Da Vinci. The building is beautiful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. One of the best tours I have done in DC.
Beautiful Museum. Incredible collection of paintings and sculptures. The benchmark for all Museums to be compare to. A must see. MarkR
Your trip is not complete without it, However be ready for a lot of crowds
First time in Washington DC one of the best experiences of my life every American should go
To see some the world's most famous artists and paintings was incredible. Wish I'd had more time to spend here!
The National Gallery of Art Washington DC
A broad collection of the world's best masterpieces in paintings and sculptures. The collection includes all the disiplines and its delightful. Always recommended
A must visit as are Many historic, cul turally and artistic things in D.C. are!
This and the Met are the two best art museums in the country. The buildings and layout are gorgeous too. What's more, it's free! Well, unless you're a U.S. taxpayer, but then seldom are my substantial tax dollars put to better use. Enjoy! And below are a couple of many beautiful Titian's that caught my eye.
Wonderful museum. I could easily spend all day here. If you enjoy art at all, there is something you will like to see here.
Absolutely breathtaking, I will have to warn people though because there is a lot to cover so I recommend planning 2 days for this activity.
