Great museum with great interiors and superb choice of art. I particularly enjoyed American art section as well as collection of XIXth century photographies as they are not something to come across in European Museums. There is also a lot of European art as well, like Dutch and Italian masters, including Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Verrocchio and Da Vinci. Definitely it is a museum in which one could spend 2-3 days in. I highly recommend going there even to see the highlights and the beautiful interiors.

A lot of wonderful collections, you can't finish the day, there is no distance between the artworks, and more importantly, it's free!
Provide a return service.
Those who love to paint can also apply for painting in advance.

The underground art store is wonderful... connecting the Modern Wing with the traditional gallery. The little cafe in the middle of the National Gallery is a nice place to stop for lunch, although a little pricey. It's such a huge gallery, that you should really try to get the tour to get the highlights.

Excellent place! You can add more adjectives as long as you want.
Easy access by walking, very nice cafeteria and shop.
So many paintings and art objects that you can only see in books. My favorites are in impressionism area. Also it was a good opportunity to meet very good american painters that I've never heard about.

The Vermeer exhibit was excellent. I would have enjoyed the exhibit more if people were not allowed to take pictures of every painting and writing. The picture taking prevented the crowd flow from moving and appreciate the equisit paintings.

Nice

Sprawling collection...just let yourself get lost. I noticed that only a couple of rooms did not permit photography, which I found both surprising and enjoyable as I like to photograph artwork when permitted. My only request? They should expand their collection of American art.

If you love Rembrandt and the classics like Van Gogh and Monet, then this is the museum for you. I personally appreciate art so I enjoyed myself quite a bit. Taking pictures is allowed only in some sections.

The Sacrament of Last Supper, Virtutem forma decorat, Flemish, French halls. Museum store is superb. Louvre glass pyramid mock up is great. Driving up to the entrance/exit is marvelous for the weak feet.

Best. Free admission. Free tour and very enlightening tour. Great book store . I wanted to learn more about arts and the cashier is very knowledgable and helpful with my selection. A lot of great artists' work like de Vinci and Picasso and yet there are not many people at all.

Wonderful place to visit!! Great exhibits and tours. The staff are friendly and helpful. The cafeteria had great options and not unfairly priced for the area and quality. West side was my favorite but going over to the East was worth the effort ... fun concourse moving sidewalk and great architecture even if you re not into modern art.

Awesome.

Fantastic display and very well kept. Even when it is busy, you are still able to appreciate the art. There is also a fantastic little esspreso and gelato shop underground in the hallway that connects the east and west buildings. The lattes and white mochas are delicious.

Like all the museums on the National Mall, the National Gallery of Art is free. As with many other museums, there is a permanent collection and a rotating collection. I would set aside a considerable amount of time if you plan to see all of it.

Amazing place. The variety of art is impressive. They have sculptures and paintings from all over the world. My favorite was Monet, Manet and, of course, the Da Vinci. The building is beautiful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. One of the best tours I have done in DC.

This and the Met are the two best art museums in the country. The buildings and layout are gorgeous too. What's more, it's free! Well, unless you're a U.S. taxpayer, but then seldom are my substantial tax dollars put to better use. Enjoy! And below are a couple of many beautiful Titian's that caught my eye.
