Very welcoming staff and no shortage of activities for children from 5 to adult. Captivating shows and entertaining feeding of feathered friends. My two teenage children loved the *flying simulator, where you get to experience flying like a bird! Got picked out for a private black raptor training session (which mesmerized the teens). And they got to *feed Aracari Toucans.
*for additional fees

Beautiful!!! My son loves birds we made a day of it and had a small incident (not the aviaries fault) with my younger son...the staff was so helpful and accommodating. They even reached out to me after to see if he was ok and offered a free bird feeding. 10/10 would visit again!

Love to visit. Always updating and adding to exhibits. Feels very immersive. Educational but also loads of fun. Food and gift shop are kinda pricey. They do allow outside food and drinks.

Wonderful place to visit, very informative and all kinds of birds to see. I could just wander around for hours. Some of the open air enclosures where all of the birds are just walking and flying around you are absolutely fantastic

We have gone to the national aviary twice so far. Both times have been a really good experience. This past time we went was when they had Santa there and we were able to take photos with a penguin. This was a really neat experience. The penguin exhibit is the best part in my opinion. It really allows the kids to get up close and personal with the penguins. If you visit during the winter be sure to bring a coat so you can see the attractions that are outside.

If you like birds, it's great! Unfortunately no one I ever take there likes birds. My own wife and daughters are terrified of birds so I don't get there often. Which sucks more than normal because I am also a birdologist by training and schooling. Unfortunately again, once my wife and I were wed, her fear of birds had me quit my university job and become a Dollar Store manager. So, there's that, too.

I had no clue that this was located in Pittsburgh but it is an absolute must. It is not very expensive and it is a wonderful experience that isn't too time consuming. You could potentially get the opportunity to feed a Tucan while you are here. Many of the birds are surprisingly social, so it is a lot of fun. It beats going to the bird section of the zoo by a long shot.

Absolutely incredible! You can get up close and personal with so many neat birds on the basic $17 ticket. Their upgraded experiences start at $3 and go up to $100s, I got the $5 SOAR show ticket and the $5 toucan feeding experience, both of which were more than worth it. They had lil beepers, big winged bois, thunkers, flappers, hydrated bois, and more. If I'm ever in the area again I'll probably try and come back. The staff really loves birds and you can tell!

My kids loved this place!! We watched the "bird brains" show and it was very entertaining and informative. The owls flew right over me and my son's heads and they were ecstatic!! My eldest son didn't care for the idea of going; however, shortly realize he was wrong. We were able to feed the Lorikeets. To see the smiles on my sons faces when there were several birds hopping around their arms and feeding out of their hands was priceless!! It is well priced and great to do with any aged kid. The staff are very friendly and informative. They have a lot of knowledge when asking about any of the birds seen. I will definitively be back!

This is the largest aviary in the United States, and while it is a bit small, it has plenty to do. If you only have a day, this, along with Phipps, Station Square, and one of the Carnegie Museums should do.

This is a great option for a day, especially if you are an avid aviarian or you have kids. I had a wonderful and educational experience. Don't skip the feedings or the presentations! The staff are passionate and really care.

I had an absolute blast at the National Aviary. I personally believe it would be a fun experience for all ages. Show up early to the events they offer throughout the day and experience feedings up close. You can also be involved in interactive feedings. When I went, it was the lorikeets. You would walk through holding a substance in your hands and they would land on you and eat it from the container! A truly beautiful experience.

Not as big as I expected, but still a cool place to take the kids for a couple hours. It was best being in the active exhibits with the birds flying around over your head and landing right next to you. Also, I don't think I've ever seen a condor before, so that was exciting.

Great place for a fund raiser or recognition dinner. Great food by Atria Catering and the atmosphere was superb. The staff were delightful and got to see a personal viewing of the aviary.... fabulous!!!

We were very impressed with this place. It s easily accessible, very clean, it was crowded but it didn t feel like it when in the exhibits. It has a wide variety of birds; soaking in all their colorful plumage was just a joy. There is food and a gift shop. There were many employees around to answer your questions. They participate in a reciprocal admissions program so I got in free with my membership card to my local Arboretum. The only negative, and this is not unique to this spot, is that many of these species were encaged in fairly small exhibit spaces.

Came for a pleasant day out, stayed for the wonderful facilitation and scheduled feeding programs. A great afternoon.

Wonderfully fat penguins and appropriately majestic condors. 10\10, will birb again.

Birbs birbs birbs! Great little aviary for an hour, or two if you see the show, with tons of birdies! And one sloth, though you have to get tickets to the live show to see him. It's a cute little show, well worth the five bucks. It was a fun afternoon with the hubs! The baby owl was awesome, though he is probably grown now as it's been a few months since we visited. Great for family outing with the little ones. Penguins are fun too :)

This place is amazing. My 4 year old was in awe of all the amazing birds here. I have to admit I was too! The staff was very knowledgeable and excited to show the exhibits to us. Expect to send a few hours here, it's we'll worth the cost.

This place is an animal lovers dream!! Incredibly photo opportunities for my amateur photographer daughter, a wetlands area, rain forest area & so many exhibits! We even hand fed the Lorakeets! So fun!

The aviary has a good number of different "zones" and birds to make it worth the cost of entry. You'll see penguins, condors, macaws, and birds you've never heard of. Randomly, they also have a sloth. You can watch the bats feeding, which was super popular.

The events to feed and spend time with different birds are worth the visit all on their own! Building is smaller than I expected but has a surprising variety of birds and small habitats. Very friendly and knowledgeable employees and interns. Food in the atrium isn't terrible and has good portion sizes (same as standard restaurants). Price to get in is very reasonable too.
