So happy they let the sloth be free he looks so happy . I hope to see more sloths in the mini jungle. We always have a great experience here and the staff is extremely knowledgeable.

I like animals, so I enjoyed our visit last week. I learned a lot about the birds. I was also surprised about them having bats and sloths, but they have these mammals because they get grants to take care of them. The downside is cost. If you want to feed the birds or have your own personal experience with you, you must pay an expensive fee. But it's understandable. They need the money to take care of the birds and conserve endangered species.

Unlike a typical zoo, the Aviary provides an immersive experience where one can walk among throngs of birds flying freely within their respective habitats. At any time, a starling or a macaw will whiz by. At prescribed times, children can stand in the middle of the enclosure with a handful of meal worms and have the birds fly down and feed out of hand. At the same time, we watched a pheasant dance for its mate. Truly an enchanting experience.

The National Aviary is one of my favorite places to go. I have visited this bird zoo many times, including for general admission and for special animal encounters. If you do not mind spending the extra money, I encourage you to purchase the animals encounters for a personalized, up-close experience. Over the years, I have bought the armadillo encounter for $40 per person (yes, I know, not a bird, as they have some non-birds there), the sloth encounter for $99 per person, and a customized 3-hour VIP tour for $150 per person.

Very nice facility doing some great education of birds and wild life. The displays were interesting and fun to watch the birds. We were truly there to experience the sloths and she did not disappoint. The sloth encounter was well run and very educational. It was amazing to be able to interact with the special creatures. If you have a sloth lover in the family definitely plan a trip to the aviary!

I've visited 5 times and it's always a blast. Most recently, I enjoyed a Flamingo encounter with my younger cousin. We learned tons and had so much fun. There are lots of spots for fun family photos and selfies. The staff are all friendly and passionate. They're eager to answer questions, help make your visit the best it can be, and spread the love for birds!

I really enjoyed seeing the variety of birds at the National Aviary. The employees were very friendly and knowledgeable. Some birds walk around very close to you, which was fun. I definitely saw some birds that I never knew existed. The penguins were very cute. My favorite exhibit was the wetlands with flamingos!

I felt it's overpriced for the amount of exhibits. It's not value for money 15$ per adult with parking 5$. We covered the place in less than an hour. Penguins were not there due to maintenance. Hope this is my last visit.

My daughter (5yo) and I love this place. The family membership is perfect for our split family and only cost $100. I know that may seem like a lot but admission today for the two of us was going to be $33. We received a free sloth plushie for signing up and that was worth $25 alone. With a membership you also get free parking (which is $5 otherwise). The parking lot is small, but the aviary itself is surrounded by streets with parking. The staff is always friendly and willing to answer any and all questions growing minds come up with. If you have a few hours and want something different to do check this place out.

The Aviary is one of my favorite places in PGH. A must do for anyone who likes birds & cares about preserving their habitats. Nothing else like it in the country!

The flight shows/feedings are fun and educational for both adults and kids. Love the variety of exhibits- and many new bird species living here since my last visit a year ago. The one disappointment was not having a view of the sloth- he is now in the trees of the tropical rainforest. The Aviary's two younger sloths aren't on the public exhibit- only seen via private tour as I understand it.

Recent improvements to the tropical forest area weren't quite complete on a recent visit 9/15/18 - new video identification kiosks for the birds/plants in this room weren't working, which apparently replaces signs formerly in this room. Took away from the experience somewhat, though staff were there and very helpful. Some other signage needs to be updated, and the video naming/describing all the Aviary penguins needs to be shown again!

There's a gift shop at the entrance, and a cafe' area with good food/beverage choices. West Park, adjacent to the Aviary, is also very nice.

These people truly care about the birds they keep and are willing to educate you every step of the way. The staff is extremely friendly and the atmosphere is immaculate.

Each habitat is has a great variety of birds and is accurate to their real surroundings. There is an equal representation of species in each section.

We paid the extra few dollars to see the sloth presentation and got more than we expected. The incredible trained birds that are part of the story made for a great experience!

Bring a small pair of binoculars (or buy some at the entrance for $8) and/or bring a long lens. You will find hidden birds among your surroundings. No

I would recommend a particular wing (no pun intended) but they're all great. A must-see for anyone.

I love taking my daughter there and seeing all the birds. Great learning experience that they offer you can feed some birds for a fee and meet others upclose. The rooms are sealed off but the exhibits themself are open and the birds are free to roam and fly within the rooms.

A true way to enjoy your day. The place gives you the opportunity to interact with birds of all kinds. They provide trainers with upclose look at certain types of birds with an educational lecture. Great for photography and relaxation. If visiting Pittsburgh, most to do on list of things to do and see.

One of my favorite places to go. You actually get to be amongst the birds (they aren't just behind glass)! It was so relaxing I've day to take a book and just sit reading in the grasslands exhibit. The shows are a blast for adults and kids alike and are constantly refreshed. Perfect for a short outing with the family.

If you're in the area this place is a must to visit. When approaching the building we were greeted by a trainer and their Macaw. The trainer was extremely nice and knowledgeable and the bird was incredibly beautiful. Once we went in we got our admission tickets and were presented with the events happening. The events were very reasonably priced (average was $5). We picked the Amazon one since it was in about 10 minutes. The show was great and well worth the money. The rest of the exhibit was filled with great scenery and birds that seemed to be very happy and properly cared for. All of the staff was extremely nice and always willing to help and answer any questions. We even randomly got treated to a owl presentation that was free. It felt like something was always going on at the Aviary and all of the merchandise was very nicely priced. I'd recommend to anyone. Keep up the great work guys.

This place is truly amazing. We had a wonderful time seeing some birds I have never seen anywhere before. The staff are all very happy, helpful and abundant at all exhibits to answer any questions you may have. Their happiness says alot about what a wonderful place this is.
Feed the toucan for $5 is well worth it!

Wonderful experience! So many different Bird species in a not too large, area. You can get really close to a lot of the birds with the open walk through exhibits. The outdoor area for the penguins was wonderful. They swim right over and interact with you. There are very knowledgeable employees everywhere to teach you about the birds. There's a small cafe with a decent snack selection, which is great to sit down and wait until feeding times. Paying a few extra dollars to feed the birds is totally worth it.

My 2 year old loved it here! We wanted a little warmer alternative to going to the zoo in the winter and this was a great choice! So many amazing sites to see. The birds are absolutely beautiful, and lots of little things for kids to do.

What a phenominal experience my girlfriend and I had here. The exhibit was so much fun, the staff were very kind, and overall learned a lot of cool facts about the species here. We tried the tucan and parakeet feeding sessions and it was a moment we will never forget. The birds are so funny and wonderful. This place is filled with a lot of love, passion, and care. They have separate sections for the birds and a gift shop/food court accessible to friends and families. I hope to visit again one day. If you have never visited before, I highly recommend it!

Pretty good, lots of birds. Definitely go if you or your loved ones are at all interested in birds. Minus one star for maybe being a little inhumane (in-bird-ane?) but otherwise, top-notch bird experience.

Finally made it! Though much smaller than anticipated we actually saw birds we had never before seen and truly enjoyed. We also purchased the Amazon show and loved how close we could get to the birds! Staff was all friendly and it was easy to navigate. We will return for certain!
