Family and I received New Years at Nacional27! The atmosphere was great! Having experience at multiple night clubs/bars across the US, I have to acknowledge the great security/bouncers at this place. They act fast and efficiently, making the atmosphere that much better for those trying to have a great night out. Coat check is a +. If you are visiting Chicago like myself, I highly recommend this place. Will be back!

I just looked at it and liked it I hit and invited her: "Let's dance, huh?" The night is for a slow reggaeton Of those who do not dance long ago I just looked at it and liked it I hit and invited her: "Let's dance, huh?" The night is for a slow reggaeton Of those who do not dance long ago
It's alright. Quite overpriced and overcrowded, but the food is good. If you must, avoid Saturday nights. Otherwise, try the chicken and cheese burrito.
Nacional 27 is a good, solid restaurant and I've been many times - they have a party room, so I've been for a few birthday parties, and I've also gone on Friday nights for drinks/apps and salsa dancing. Last night was the first time that I tried their coconut rice and black beans. OMG. Loved. It. I had to take leftovers home and I just finished it. Ridiculous. The rice is cooked in coconut milk, so its creamy with a hint of coconut flavor, and they have black beans mixed in. The empanadas are quite tasty too, although I would advise to avoid the chorizo one. Not my favorite. If you love black beans and rice like I do, DO NOT miss the coconut rice w/black beans.
Not bad. Appetizers we're good, but my wife's steak was underdone. Mine was ok, but I expected more from a 90-day aged ribeye. All the drinks were a little too sweet. Service was good. Prices were high for what you get. We went early so didn't get to see any dancing but it seems like a good space for that.
The amount of money these guys are leaving on the table due to an understaffed bar has to be high. I waited for almost 15min before giving up on ordering drinks. Otherwise a great place for Latin music.
LOVED IT. I loved the food, the atmosphere, everything. I highly recommend going here on a Friday night and stay as it turns into a club. It doesn't have to be too expensive if you stick with the tapas menu, but you could end up spending a lot. I can't wait to go back!
Went here for restaurant week in 2009. The food was very good, but we didn't realize that the restaurant turned into a dance club at 11. Get an earlier reservation and it'll all be good.
over rated. the security guards act unproffesional and snobby. too costy at a sat $20 for an entrence? the music is not all that. the place is not as how it use to be!
We had our company party there last night and we had an awesome time. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, the staff was pleasant, the food was good especially the Cuban skirt steak, and the margaritas were made just right.
Good but probably my least favorite Lettuce Entertain You restaurant. Everything was just so so but thru do have free Salsa Dancing lessons(check the website for days).
For a Hispanic fusion restaurant I felt the flavors were a bit tame. Our shrimp and scallop ceviche starter was just fine. I had the short rib special but it was just lacking in spice and my wife felt the same about her Cuban pork. The margaritas were solid but for that I'd just go to the adjacent Taco Joint.
I don't think I'd go back here but I'd like to try Taco Joint which is attached to this full scale restaurant.
If you're going to charge people to get into the night club, make sure you are able to accommodate your guests. Don't let more people in if you are at capacity. That is both, a safety hazard and an inconvenience for those that are trying to enjoy themselves. This place is not worth the $20 you pay to get in on Saturdays. You have to wait atleast 20 min to get your drinks and you have about 2 square feet of space to move around since everybody is crammed in the club like sardines. The drinks are expensive but they actually do pour you a descent amount of alcohol. That's the only positive things I can say about this place. Save your money and go somewhere else.
I honestly love this place because of the music & atmosphere, BUT you have people working at the bar that don't know how to make some of your popular drinks. The most frustrating thing about a night out is asking for a drink and having a bartender not know how to make it when past bartenders have made it with no problem. Despite how many ways I tried to simplify or explain the drink, they were clueless. Can't expect people to get drunk that way
This place always has great food and latin dancing at 11pm. They clear the center of the floor. They have the best small taco's and empanadas around. The sangria is a must!!
The steak and egg and the fried avocado tacos were amazing. The prices a bit high. Keep in mind this is not authentic Mexican food. They turn the restaurant into a club. The staff get pretty aggressive during this time. We saw them pull a chair out from under someone while trying you convert it to a dancer floor. That was a big turn off
There was on asian waiter with glasses and open blue ear lobes, I asked him a Mojito and he ignored me and I asked again and he told me " I heard you, if you don't stop asking I will not give it to you " so basically this little troll is treating me like a child. Club owners, remember this is temporary, there is always going to better a better club than yours.
Went on a Friday for "Salsa Night". Anything but that. It was a glorified middle school dance. Very little actual latin music. Mostly just club stuff, and the crowd reflected it. Waste of $10 cover.
Edit- I stand corrected. I thought it was a salsa/latin night, but it was ladies night. I added a star for your response, thank you.
It was fun to be honest. I had a great night. The drinks are overpriced. Like 5 shots of patron 65 bucks? Are you serious? That's my only complaint. Music was great.
Amazing food, excellent service! Awesome music Friday and Saturday nights -- come prepared to sweat because the dance floor is small and it gets super crowded!
So called manager tried kicking me out because I wanted a drink, I understand she was taking a while because it s was busy but the fact that she screamed I have to get a drink for my brother first kind of made it seemed that she cared about serving a drink to her family member before customers at HER JOB, did he even paid for it? Then she yelled to the security to kicked me out without even me having a drink at ALL. Very unprofessional. I hope the owner understands that paying someone to be a manager or bartender has to be worth it. I own a business myself as well and I go to this place all the time. Now this might take all my money somewhere else. Just a shame. I hope she s not there If I decide to go back.
Staff is super nice here, and the food.. So on point. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone trying to have a good night, good music, good vibe. This is the spot to be.
Nacional 27 is another place that definitely makes its way into the special occasions rotation for the Mrs and I. I work with Latin America and really enjoy the authentic flavors that this LEYE standout brings to bear. Combining the flavors of 27 Latin countries and delivering consistently exquisitely prepared food and spot on executed service it's another place where I can honestly say I've never had a bad bite. Stay for salsa dancing on the weekends and pour yourself a hearty glass of one of their delicious varietals of Argentine Malbec. Salud!
I love everything I order Service Was good , Food was great and Drinks were Right On nothing to complian about they even invited me to come back for salas lessons
Service is absolutely horrible. We came for a bachelorette party (15 girls)... wanted to charge us cover charge of $20 AND table/bottles... and then they had the manager word it a different way to make us think we re getting a great deal. Plus the guys at the counter... older guy w/ glasses looked drugged out. So unprofessional.
Extremely disappointing. We have been coming to this place for YEARS and it was always amazing. One of our favorite places in the city. Unfortunately, tonight was a complete disaster. Where do I start...
1. We ordered Cadillac Margaritas and got Ketel One and Lime.
2. They brought the actual margaritas and their "top shelf" tequila was cheap and smokey.
3. The Empenadas used to be real Picadio, but are now mostly dough with almost no filling.
4. We ordered a Queso Fundido appetizer and got what I can only describe as vegan oil sawdust instead of real Chihuahua cheese.
5. And it is now served with CHIPS, not tortillas.
6. Our enchiladas were tiny and COLD.
And this was ALL IN A SINGLE VISIT!
The restaurant has clearly been sold to someone who has NO idea how to run a successful restaurant. Needless to say, we will NOT be back. What a waste.
I must say was my first time at Nacional 27... Ambience - 5 Drinks - 5 Bartender Zorah was phenomenal... Cover - 3 Too expensive for a DJ... DJ - 2 The transitions between type of music was crazy...You couldn't miss the first 30 seconds of Merengue because if not he will jump to Quebraditas, reallyyyyyyyy... the language he used to address the crowd unprofessional... We all deserve the respect as customers, no matter what happened... A warning can still be professional... He needs to amp it up with the transitions and mixes... MY HUMBLE AND HONEST OPINION...
I was recommended this location by a friend who raved about it. I figured it was more of a special occasion type of place so when it came to my birthday, I wanted to get a small group of friends and family together. We went this past Friday and planned for a 9 pm dinner so we could dance afterwards. Food was great, albeit a bit on the expensive side since portions were small in my opinion. Drinks seemed like standard Chicago pricing, which is not cheap.
According to their site, it was ladies night... and for men, if you paid online you would get entry for $10 as opposed to $20 at the door. I had the guys who were going to stay for dancing buy tickets in advance to get the deal. However, they didn't even need to buy them because no one asked us for an entry fee. Turned out they were celebrating Carnivale, unbeknownst to us. It was a pleasant surprise and we had an awesome time! There was a dance performance followed by some group instruction. Our group enjoyed it and I would love to come back!
Excellent place, the best food and wonderful service but too small to dance for that little reason is not a 5 star for me. Everything else is wonderful
Only went to dance, the music was good, the dj played from reggaeton to bachata and merengue. It's not too big of a dancefloor, so it's easier to get stepped on.
Nacional 27 is the place to bring you friends or family that are interested in a salsa or latin music. You are seated and the adventure starts, While you delight on your food the staff will start setting up their dance floor. Once started you well, the fun starts stepping out of you seat. great place to celebrate an occasion.
Myself and another 5 women got their phone stolen on June 1, 2019. This is not a safe place. Please be careful. Follow up: The owner of the establishment contacted me after my original review and invited me to go back for a better experience. I am very appreciative, thank you.
It gets way to pack on the dance floor but it's worth making it out to this club. The music is great, of course being a Latin club expect Latin music. Ther bartenders are great drinks are great and of course the Latin women!!
