Years ago I had a great night salsa dancing and listening to live music but now I feel like the place is on a downturn. The food is ok but over priced and the drinks are too sweet. Maybe my palate has changed but Nacional 27 needs to innovate before becoming obsolete.
Fun place with good dance music at night. But a nice restaurant during the day.
Good food. Poor service. The club had good music, very good for dancing. The space should use some improvement.
Very good Latin food. Free Salsa dance lessons on Wednesday at 7:30pm. Great instructor. Lots of fun.

Place was great , the music was popping and drinks were strong. Dance floor was packed and small...so be ready to hit elbows.
Regarding the food, the prices don't match the quality. Disappointing food.
In two visits to the club, one night the DJ was excellent, the next time the DJ was horrible.
The bouncers are idiotic and tacky.

Horrible birthday experience! ! I reserved a bottle service with a table waited 2 hours to be seated which never came, spoke to the manager she pointed out that i was next in line to get a table and bottle and then the hostess decides to give up our table to a group of 5 and her reason was that it was her family. WTF is that??? Spoke to the manager and she acted like she didnt care about her customers and walked away from us. My group of 10 decided to go to the next bar accross the street . Thanks for a shitty birthday National 27 staff. Do not reverse tables they don't honor it. And expect to be there all night without good service !! I recommend to stay away from this place!

Nice place to go dance, some nights are better than others. Drinks are fine, bartenders lack friendliness.
Who still charges $20 for cover, to get in. Don t follow in the footsteps of Soundbar and loose the cover charge. Pathetic.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere! It was a great dancing experience with good variety of music. I specially enjoyed the blackberry caipirinha--strong enough to wake you up, infused with fresh blackberries, and a hint of sweetness!
The dining experience was great for my birthday. Mojitos were tasty and strong. And who doesn't love to dance off that food with Salsa dancing. Overall I loved Nacional 27.

Came for Salsa night last Wednesday and it was surprisingly a full house! Maybe 20 of us? Super fun and learned new moves!

I came here mainly for DJX and he s to my opinion the best in the world who does the Latin DJ ing. I enjoyed the seafood and was surprised they had Cuban coffee like Miami!
Came to Chicago for a weekend and this place was the highlight of the whole trip!!! The dj was amazing, the atmosphere was incredible, I loved everything about this place!

There was on asian waiter with glasses and open blue ear lobes, I asked him a Mojito and he ignored me and I asked again and he told me " I heard you, if you don't stop asking I will not give it to you " so basically this little troll is treating me like a child. Club owners, remember this is temporary, there is always going to better a better club than yours.

We went for New Years Eve, it looked pretty good at first, but when I got the check, OMG, it was almost $300 dlls for a meal of two. Outrageous! Food taste was just OK....
We had our company party there last night and we had an awesome time. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, the staff was pleasant, the food was good especially the Cuban skirt steak, and the margaritas were made just right.
Nacional 27 is a little bit more than okay maybe? For latin dancing it's the only place I recommend. Not because it's great but because amongst other options it seems to be the best one.
I've only dined here once and the food was actually pretty good, I wouldn't have expected that at all. Was pleasantly surprised.

Worst club ever! Went for the weekend and did not let me in just because I didn't have dress shoes, but other people were allowed and women's with combo boots were allowed to get in.
Gorgeous dance space and best bartenders. Drinks are very reasonably priced as well

This place has a bit of everything, cute place, not over crowded, very good Latin music and fair prices for the service you are getting, I definitely recommend!
The food was GREAT! &it was interesting & exciting to physically see them turn their restaurant into a night club before my eyes! I didn't get to stay to party it up but I'll definitely visit again soon.

The host failed to acknowledge my brother and I upon our arrival and he let many others in before us.
When he finally decided to talk to us, he said take these two to a table in the back THESE TWO?! Really?! And at first he was acting like he had no room to take us in.
Second of all-
The drink I had was disgusting and the tacos were cold...

Service was very slow. We had the all you can eat meat skewer special and they served one starter per table instead of per person as we paid per person. The menu stated scallops and shrimp for the seafood portion but they had salmon and shrimp, so that end was misleading as they didn't mention that prior to ordering but after service. I had stated it was a birthday celebration and was not acknowledged by any of the staff.
You have to make reservations for the food. After 11:00 it turns into a 21 and over night club. Drinks are kinda spicy. But if your looking for a fancy night out. That is the place

Traveled to Chicago Saturday am I wasn't dressed up but wasn't completely casual (under my coat) but got turned away because of my practical shoes. It had been snowing all evening and the ground was covered in deep slush. I would have liked to be wearing my heels in any other circumstance.
This spot was recommended when I asked where to go to Latin dancing.
I was not expecting a nightclub with a $20 cover and dress code! I was very disappointed to not have the opportunity to dance that night. Ended up at some other spot with lame pop music.
Know there is a dress code! Wish I would have known.
Bouncer wasn't very nice making us walk around to tell us we couldn't get in. 1 star is for the poor experience and I didn't make it in the door.
Food was good but not excellent and portions small and overpriced. Dance floor took way too long to open had to leave. They charged a friend a $20 cover that came for late dinner. Dance floor wasn't open yet and it wasn't a "club" atmosphere.

Good nightclub to spend some crazy time with friends...
I've been coming here for food and dance for over a decade. I gave it 4 stars because this past experience was extremely disappointing, but I've never had problems before. Things I love about this place:
1. Free coat check. This is important for those of us who want to wear dance attire in the middle of winter without freezing to and from the club.
2. Ceviche (other than this past visit) their ceviche is quite tasty. This past time it seemed like they were trying to make it stretch because it was mostly mango and tomato and one or two bits of fish.
3. Wide variety of Latin music (old school and new school, megengue, bachata, salsa, reggaeton, samba, cumbia, bachaton and any kind of fusion you can think of).
3. Easily accessible by public transportation. Drive, Uber, or CTA... Easy to get to.
4. They serve Brugal. My favorite.
So I have been here quite a few times just because there is only a few spanish places to actually go. The food taste good and the prices are good for downtown. But the dance floor is to small and it gets pretty crowded. The Drinks are a little on the pricey side but well made. I would rather go to Latin Bliss then here. The decor of the location is nice and the theme is more based off Mexican culture. Bathrooms were clean but some of the employees where a little rude.
Great hot spot.. go for the mojitos and for the dancing. Top 40 and Latin all night long. Beautiful people everywhere :)
Attended their Halloween party. What a night! Great drinks and music. I'll definitely be back for dinner the next time I'm in Chicago.

We ordered way too much food! The food was great, atmosphere on a friday (before it turns into a club) was great as well! The club feels were also nice. Service was average, less than you'd expect when you're dropping over $200 on dinner. But all around, a great experience!
A festive and fun atmosphere brings this restaurant/dance club to life. Delicious food from, and inspired by many Latin American countries and cultures. The drinks were fantastic as well. Service seemed to be a little slow, but then again, I came in on a busy Friday evening. The staff was extremely helpful in navigating the menu, and I was very greatful for their suggestions. I will be back!
i went to this restaurant for my friends birthday and it was great. they upscale feel of the bar and dine in experience was great. the restaurant becomes a salsa bar after hours. the food was great. and fulfilling. a little pricy but well worth it for the experience. a modern fusion of latin cusine.
We had a reservation last Saturday night for 9:30pm and we arrived early and waited in the bar. We were not seated till 10:00pm. We then were seated to find out that the whole table had to order from the restaurant week menu or no one could order from it. We were shocked to find the chairs to be worn and have holes with the stuffing coming out of them and wine stains on our table cloth. The food was ok but it appeared to us that all the attention and efforts were towards the nightclub that began about the same time we began eating. I had been here before and disliked it then and now I am convinced I will never return.
Love the combinations of flavors in their food. Their drinks were also very good.
This place kept being recommended to me and I finally decided to go for my birthday a few weeks ago! Man did I have a GREAT time. I notice a few reviews mention the small dance floor which I agree with but it definitely isn t a deterrent for me. I went back last night and had a good time once again.
I went to a private dinner. Good care, good toilets. And a nice atmosphere in the part that we did not have reserved.
