For the first 25 yrs, they were 100% all about the elderly & their families. But ever since they started "expanding" the agency & taking on more cities & towns searching for new clientele, they forgot those who they were helping from the beginning.

New "Case Managers" were assigned w/o letting the client & their family know, mistakes were being made constantly, lack of "quality" care became a big issue (an issue in my mothers case especially), etc! She was "passed" around from case worker to case worker since her original case worker & their replacement BOTH retired after the expansion!

On top of that, after stints in 2 very different rehabs the agency refused to "listen" to us when we told them about the "vendors" who were physically abusing & neglecting my mother who is not only elderly but also severely disabled & bedridden too! I USED to "recommend" them but NOT anymore! I will NEVER EVER RECOMMEND this agency. AGAIN!

I will however recommend BOSTON SENIOR who have been 100% professional & caring not only for my mother but for me as well & are also helping me too as l am also disabled! They came HIGHLY recommended by Commonwealth Care Alliance health insurance (who l also HIGHLY recommend as well) & hasn't stopped "fighting" for my mothers rights for a lawsuit AGAINST a "vendor" who ABUSED her that was SENT BY MYSTIC VALLEY ELDER SERVICES!!

So if you EVER cared about your loved one, DO NOT EVER USE THIS AGENCY UNLESS you DO NOT LOVE OR CARE about their well being! If you are already using them, you have my sincerest condolences.

They are extremely helpful to us seniors. I go to a support meeting. Our group leader is smart, kind and so very helpful. We all get a chance to share which really helps us deal with our spouse's disease.

My experience at this agency has not been very good. They really do not care and can be very condescending to elderly people. You don't matter to them, and they want you to know this. There just is not any feeling with these people, so it's difficult to relate to them. Most of them should not be in human services. If you can, please find a better center to go to for your needs. I don't know who funds them but somebody needs to take a closer look at this agency.

We chose this agency to help with housework and laundry for my elderly mother. Most of the workers that come to my moms are young and totally unskilled. They don t even know how to make a bed or fold laundry. I have banished more than one young lady due to lack of basic housekeeping skills. Dealing with management and social workers is not much better. Customer service and communication are also seriously lacking. You ve got to drag the information out of these people. I would not recommend this agency to anybody.

They offer excellent services, and will go out of their way to support your elderly BUT you must stay engaged in care and not go on autopilot and expect them to do or be responsible for everything . I follow up and speak to my mom every single day. Elderly services is a concerted effort best served when children and family are fully ENGAGED and AWARE that the commitment is ONGOING and they aren t going to be able to give the advanced or complicated care a nursing home would. For example, they won t do full on pedicures but merely clip the edge of nails- as obviously complications could arise to do much more. There are considerations they do based on years of experience interacting with the elderly, avoiding legal, privacy and ethical limitations that have NOTHING to do with your parent personally and EVERYTHING to do with serving timely, affordable and efficient service to everyone. PLAN AROUND rather than complain when things come up short. Or consider a nursing home.

That said, they handle complaints well. There is a bit of employee turnover, so make sure you know who and which manager is caring for your parent, and be proactive- I will call when the caregiver is there to make sure they have all the supplies necessary to do the job and follow up with a manager if something isn t right. It is because I follow up with a manager, that it keeps individual caregivers on their toes because some of them are private contractors that won t get additional work with too many complaints.

The care and welfare of a parent is a sensitive issue with a lot of everchanging variables. I am glad I can keep my mom in her home for as long as possible, but am also aware that no matter how great the care provider is- that this particular type of dignity definitely has an expiration date, and that there will be a day that she won t be able to live on her own anymore, no matter how angry, upset or how many complaints I make...

Thank you for caring for my mom!

The management hires social workers just out of college without experience. The social workers seem to work there for a year or two to get experience, then leave for a better job. Most of the social workers seem to be about 26 to 30 years old. The "aids" they send are o k

I have had the opportunity to use their services lately. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They have support groups which are a great way to meet other people in the same situation you are in and they understand how you feel. I feel like I'm learning so much, but most importantly, I know I have someone to talk to if I have questions.
