A must in the city of Lyon, a magnificent museum both for its building and its collection. And which in addition regularly offers, among other activities, very interesting guided group tours (including a visit to the masterpieces for 1h30).
If you don't have time to visit the museum, at least take the time to walk around the courtyard, a little corner of peace in the center of Lyon.

In the middle of the city and very nice gallery with paintings and art spanning many centuries. From Ancient Egyptian to the most contemporary.
Set out on three floors it can be explored relatively rapidly or more slowly depending on the amount of time one has.
An audio tour is also available. The pretty courtyard at the entrance is a nice place to relax.

The entrance fee was 12 euros, so I thought it was a bit expensive. The first and second floors were difficult to understand, but I was very happy to see that they were good at coming to the grandeur at the moment of viewing the third and fourth floors. A must-visit place in Lyon. Thumb up

Very frequent visitor of this place which has a crazy charm.

Sometimes the lighting is poor.
Some windows are inaccessible to the curiosity of children.
But overall a museum that has a soul.

The staff is often playful and friendly (he remains a bit sour).

A special favorite for the quality of the vast collection of paintings of the Middle Ages.

Los Modernos (temporary exhibition): Only 3 Frida Kahlo paintings and rather haphazard curating although linked to genuine Franco-Mexican influences and exchanges of the first half of the 20C. But still good.

A very interesting place. You can spend hours wandering the rooms, and if I recall, it used to be a convent so you have the history of the building too, not just its contents. Worth a visit, to say the least.

It is a well organized museum, interesting to visit, which may not require too much effort but where you can also spend a whole day. It depends on the time available and the interest that everyone cultivates. Beautiful collection of statues, inlaid works in wood and ivory, some notable pieces also on an international scene. Sections decently explained, even with the not superfluous help of audio guides. Having a few days in Lyon, definitely worth it.

Not bad way to spend a couple hours strolling around but France has many more impressive collections of fine art. If you have time in Lyon it's worth a visit but I preferred the Museum of Communication & Contemporary Art.

As a Lyoner, I go back often, always fascinated by what is in this museum, which we call the palace St Pierre.
The free inner courtyard is absolutely charming. We like to come and eat his sandwich in the company of the magnificent statues.

I really liked the room with the sculptures, you can walk around.
No student rate but a youth rate. We have enough to take care of for a couple of hours, if we want to see everything. It lacks a common thread in my opinion but the visit was completely satisfactory!

I went there as part of museum night. Amazing how huge and beautiful this museum is. Impossible to go around the collections at once, but I had little time in front of me: to do it again! You should know that the 1st floor looks more like a museum of civilizations than a museum of fine arts. It is very interesting anyway!

Museum overlooking the square. Old abbey with a small cloister. Beautiful works: sculptures, objects and paintings ranging from Ancient Egypt through the Impressionists to the 20th century. Museum worth a look. We find Monet, Manet, Degas, Picasso ....

A good museum in the city center. Convenient to get there - next to the metro. The museum has an inner courtyard. The museum has a collection of scrolls - sculptures, an Egyptian section with sarcophagi and the head of a mummy. There is a large picture gallery of paintings of different ages and countries. Presented household items of different epochs of France and Italy. Separate hall with ancient coins of different epochs. From Rome and Byzantium to the last kings of France and the Republic.

This museum presents fabrics.
Most are made of silk. This material was an economic engine of the industrial development of the region. From spinning to weaving which has given rise to the rise and birth of many industries, notably that of chemistry.
Let us recall that the textile industry was in 1980 the third French industry by the number of these jobs and these exports.

In addition to having an enviable classic art collection, it has an exquisite modern art room where you can appreciate a contemporary art form. Additionally, I would highlight the museum's souvenir shop, they have for sale posters and calendars of several renowned artists, ideal to take a piece of art to your home without the need to spend a lot of money. Finally, if for some reason you cannot enter the museum, I recommend you go to visit the entrance garden where you can enjoy a must-see French architecture.
