Nice museum but if you really want to enjoy it, you have to have a lot of time because there are many rooms.
It has a locker and a cloakroom very practical.
The Lyon city card does not queue at the entrance.

Beautiful museum. Big collection of ancient Egyptian/Greek/Roman empire. Especially the paintings from beginning 20th century (Monet, Pissarro, Rodin...) are adorable! No reduction for teachers. Only for students untill 25 years. So rather expensive: 8/person.

Magnificent museum to visit when you come to Lyon. For art lovers, do not hesitate. It's big enough (not as big as the Louvres) and you can eat there, the cloister is calm and pleasant, a serene place.

A beautiful museum, in a beautiful building (an old abbey) which borders the Place des Terreaux, close to the Opera de Lyon and the City Hall.
Access to the museum, through a large arcaded courtyard, in the center of which sits a fountain, in a flowery decor, punctuated with benches and some sculptures.
The entrance to the museum is a bit expensive, for my taste (8 , full price). You can leave your clothes in the cloakroom (free).
The visit begins with the old chapel of the abbey, which brings together a very beautiful collection of sculptures, including a series of works by Rodin. We also admire some paintings (including charcoals).

Alas, for me, I did not have time to visit the second floor of the museum ...

Museum on two floors: one for ancient art, the other for painting from the Middle Ages to contemporary (3 distinct rooms).
Also worth visiting is the chapel full of sculptures.
Lateral entrance for temporary exhibitions.
Audio guide for 1, also available in Italian.
Price of admission to 9.
Find the map and select a route according to your interest, because the visit could take more than two hours.
Recommended stop for those visiting Lyon

Superb museum! In addition to the magnificent architecture of the building, the collections are extremely rich. One afternoon is not enough to see everything in detail. It would be better to do the museum in 2 half days to fully appreciate, especially with the very affordable entry price, this is quite possible.

Nice museum but nothing more ... Audio guides were no longer available. As a local, an app can replace everything as a foreign tourist, a guide is still useful. Explanation in the rooms only available in French ...

The visit is worth seeing if only for the gardens and the architectural beauty of the building. Nice gallery of sculptures and beautiful collections. The staging of the works is sometimes ridiculously solemn.

Twice I come here. First the garden of statues: a quiet place in the center of Lyon, an old cloister.
Then the museum: the works are very well developed, the explanations perfect.
Take a tour through the museum bookstore: you will not come out empty handed.

The Museum of Fine Arts is the most important museum in Lyon. It boasts paintings by Italian and Flemish artists (Perugino, Tintoretto, Gauguin, Monet, Bacon, van Gogh, Picasso), sculptures and artifacts; the section dedicated to Egypt is particularly relevant.
The collections are exhibited in Palazzo San Pietro, a historic building within the city.
The website is complete and multilingual: audio tracks can be downloaded from it to hear a description of each work.
The full ticket costs 8; the reduced for under 26 costs 4.
