Beautiful permanent collection currently doubled by a temporary exhibition around the painters James Ensor and Leon Spilliaert. The choice of works is interesting and varied; However, some visitors will not necessarily share the bias of the implementation by themes, and therefore not chronological.

Probably wrong moment chosen. Today we visited Mu.ZEE. Not first time. Total chaos. Rooms inaccessible due to end or structure of the exhibition. Certain stairs are accessible but rooms are not closed - upon return. Not the least indication of the route to be followed. If you then know that the museum has a huge collection on deposit, it is a total disappointment with what is actually on display. Sad.

Behind the old-fashioned entrance is a beautiful museum with several smaller and larger rooms where the paintings come into their own. Beautiful collection of Ensor and Spilliaert, Servais and many others. 12 euros admission for complete exhibition. Beautiful gadgets in the museum shop

Totally incoherent. Notepads from the curators about the arrangement of the exhibitions reveal a self-righteousness that, painfully enough, does not lead to quality. Saddening. Really sad.

Super friendly welcome! Visited the part of Ensor.
The effort in terms of paintings and really affordable for a family of 5 with children. Our 11-13-16 year old + 17 year old friend were impressed ... so did we!

200 years ago a large French ship named Medusa sank off the coast of West Africa. A sturdy raft was built on board, good to save up to 150 passengers. The captain sent the raft out to sea without food or water. The rich got good sloops and were quickly rescued. But the raft with all the other people bobbed around at sea for 12 days. When it was recovered by another ship, 14 people were still alive. The others had been thrown overboard, starved or even eaten. The entire exhibition is actually about this story. Sometimes the story is clearly legible in the artworks, but not always. Are you looking for Het Vlot in all artworks?

Terribly dissapointed! Super expensive "20 per person" to look all the museum where only 2 things where really worthy, Spilliaert that was only 4 , some animation videos of an artist named Wendy where also interesting, but for the rest ... A whole floor dedicated to art brut which was average bad! Also something related with anthropology without any information!!! Senselessly presented! Not to pay that amount! And this instalation in red from the photo was the only that deserved closer attention. Not enough information or seats for the public to watch most of the videos bad attention. Second time in Belgium I pay so much for little quality art!

Had higher expectations for a museum with such a look. Not surprising or innovative for art lovers. Could really better be contemporary art. The museum is more filled up than used to give creative ideas space and coherence. Come on Ostend, you may come in more surprisingly, there is room for improvement!

A very nice museum with very nice works of art. It's definitely worth it. Also nice for small children. They can tinker, draw anything. And they learn new things. Also with videos. And make animation films for the children themselves.

Very well organized a lot of interesting works ... attention the museum does not close at 18h but at 17h40 must be out s. It is better to predict it because it takes two good hours to take advantage of all that is exposed.

Rainy day at the sea, so we plan a visit to Mu.Zee. Extensive exhibition of paintings (Ensor, Permeke, etc.) as well as other art objects. Playing with light and sound, objects that invite you to think differently than short films. In short, an extensive variety of art. Nice to do ...

In addition to the permanent collections, there is also always interesting temporary exhibition such as "Dreams of Mother of Pearl" with the Ensor collection of the KMSKA, which is still there until 16/06/18.

Nice museum, spread over different floors with a permanent Ensor collection and more modern art upstairs. Children can also hold a birthday party here and then get lessons in the small youth academy.
