My expectations are usually low in Cairo but I was really surprised by how professional everyone is at the Movenpick Hotel.

Service is outstanding throughout the whole hotel. They are all doing whatever possible to make your stay enjoyable.

Walaa did a great job during check-in and check-out. They were both smooth and quick.

Breakfast is amazing and has so many options and probably everything you will ever need.

Pools are massive but freezing. The hotel needs some renovations though especially the very outdated gym, but I understand that in the last 10 years the tourism sector was suffering in Egypt so you can t really expect everything to be in a perfect condition.

The spa is nice and has a very large hot jacuzzi but you have to pay for it and it s in the female section meaning that if a female guest arrives, they will ask you to leave. I didn t experience that though but truly enjoyed that jacuzzi.

Location is great, near the Pyramids and Cairo s largest malls. Also near Arkan & Americana Plaza if you want a coffee shop or a restaurant but not in a massive mall.

I frequently visit Cairo and this is instantly became one of my favourite choices and surely I will be back.

Great grounds and pool area. Good spacious rooms but a little dated. Service response is excellent. Reception area and restrooms needs a good face lift. Needs updated road signs leading to the hotel entrance. Overall a good stay.

The reception was good and it was quiet in a short time. The breakfast was also good and varied. The room service was bad for a big hotel and there were a few comments on the cleanliness of the room and the room service was called and the work was done and the fridge was very bad and the room was called again and the service was done at the end. The work is done only after the connection as well as the floor of the room is not furnished well, so that the ground floor is unbearable

The Movenpick name is a big name, but there are some drawbacks within the Media City branch, such as:
1- The internet is very, very, very tired
2- The kitchen, unfortunately, this time I found it very poor
3- The rooms are tired and very expendable

5- I booked room 11003, unfortunately, I did not know my family and I slept due to hearing the voices of the neighbor in the room next to me

An adequate experience here - rooms were generally tidy and organised, and it had an enormous garden with sculptured plants, which was nice. The hotel buffet was pretty nice with a considerable number of dishes and options. Service was sound and appropriate.

However, some parts of the room was a bit dirty, including the bathtub - which had rusty iron nails, making the overall experience less pleasent. I felt that this could be improved in order for this to live up to its reputation of a 5-star hotel.

But overall I had a great experience here.

First impression is very good. Nice service and good view from a room window, cozy swimming pool. After a while however I've started to notice minuses - cleaness should be improved (dirty towel next to sink and hairs on it, bad smell from toilet). Food in restaurant look good, however we had to wait for over 30 min for it to be served, while restaurant was almost empty, and meat arrived cold. French frites were ok. Noisy equipment on the back side of hotel was disturbing at night.

I'm afraid there are many aspects that caused the stay to be a little unpleasant.

Let me try to list them briefly to you.

1- the staff are begging for money, every time i order something and i expect my change in return they ask me whether i need my change or not, ( hinting that they want to keep it)

2- the room wasn't equipped with slippers, toothbrushes, tooth paste, robes, and shower caps, I've traveled alot and never had to beg the room service for hours to bring me toothbrushes and slippers, and i kept getting different answers from different staff members regarding the slippers, and then i was informed the hotel ran out of them, and i had to go outside the hotel shopping to get what i need which was very inconvenient.

3- the engagement party by the pool was a major headache, i couldn't rest or sleep for hours because of the noise and when it finally ended after midnight i had to listen to the noise of labor workers taking off the stage, plus the bass from the speakers were very strong the terrace doors kept shaking.

4 - the food, i loved the dessert but the food was not good (taste wise), and there were no drinks served during dinner, and when i asked for juice i got charged 84 pounds for two glasses of mango juice. That's ridiculous!

5 - Parking my car there is a nightmare ! this is a huge hotel with a capacity to host hundreds of people yet they only have parking spaces for approximately 40-50 cars maximum ! i had to run in circles for about 10 minutes to find a place to park, and then had to park it by the gate and walk with my luggage for a while , again, inconvenient !

Those were my negative points regarding my stay, everything else was fine.

The Movenpick Media City; Some Hotels Should be Avoided

When you book with a brand, you expect a minimal standard, the least of professionalism, attention and service. When you arrive to a hotel with a broken sign, a lobby older than my grandpa s age, an untrained staff and a restaurant with a stinking smell... OMG! I would never book with a Movenpick ever again.

Not the best of hotels to say the least, as cheap as the one on the Dead Sea, the Movempick is an average dormitory, more of a low category family resort. Yellow lights, gold reflective materials, dark wood and old carpets are some of the materials constituting the cold lobby. A dark bar on the right side, a cantina with an open buffet of mediocre choices on the left, and a dirty ice cream fridge you ll see on your way to the restaurant.

To reach the room, expect a travel time of five minutes, on tight alleys surrounded by brown grass. Reach a room, a cold white room, the cheapest bed I ve ever seen, white tiles, white walls with no paintings to decorate it, an old television screen from the last decade, an empty fridge, a working desk from the old age and a balcony without a light.

A shameful hotel and this before even trying the bed or their food. I was surely not going to eat from that food down at the restaurant looking old and unappetizing so why not order dinner to the room.

Let s eat:
- An hour passed and here comes the food!
- Food like I used to have at scouting camps.
- A chewy commercial pizza not edible without a lid of ketchup.
- The most bizarre club sandwich I had, dry with cold cheese fill it served with pickles and uncooked potato fingers.
- Uncooked french fries, a white color and oily feel.
- A super dry, over salty burger. The meat is like kafta, dry, hard textured and spiced.
- A warm mayonnaise loaded coleslaw salad.
- Pickled vegetables thrown here and there!
- This is the worst food I had at a five stars hotel; better change the chef.
- And the local wine is bizarre; one of the worst I ve had as well.
- Don t order dessert; it s not worth it.

The best thing I had tonight and probably this hotel offers is the Heinz ketchup, imported from the states!

Now the bed; a prison bed, hard like wood, it will leave you with a mark for life. It s really shameful to be even considering this hotel as an upscale place.

A very bad night sleep, and now is time for breakfast! Welcome to the dirtiest place on earth... yes, the dirtiest place on earth, an unacceptable dirty place, a very bad experience, the lowest quality of food service I ve ever seen, one star hotels are ashamed to do!

Dirty plates, dirty floor, dirty containers, food left from the night before! OMG! No words can describe the deception; is this Movempick quality?

I d love to give you a comparison between last night and the night before; one at the Movenpick and another at The Westin.

Where the Westin gets a 9/10 to say the least, the Movenpick gets a 1/10:
- Cleanliness at the Westin is up to standard
- The hotel is cheaper than the Movenpick with more services!
- Room is cleaner, wider, warmer, more beautiful.
- Bed is at least relaxing.
- Employees don t smoke in front of the hotel s door
- Breakfast is exceptionally wonderful at The Westin
- The hotel oozes positive vibes when it feels haunted at the Movenpick
- Staff is trained, looks sharp and makes you feel at home back at the at Westin.
- And the list goes on and on...

Do not come here, it s a ripoff! I left mad, hungry and sad.

I attended the play Henedy P Theater Cairo Shaw .. And only from the hotel and did not enter .. Because the theater next to him ..
But from the sweetness of the night and the play we loved the hotel
