Ticket lines over 45 minutes. Lift broke for 25 minutes. Should have gone to Big Bear instead of wasting my time here
Ticket lines over 45 minutes. Lift broke for 25 minutes. Should have gone to Big Bear instead of wasting my time here
The best place to ski and snowboard if you live in LA since it's the closest ski resort that doesn't require mountain driving. Lift tickets are very affordable if purchased online in advance, and a lot of discounts are available before and during the season which brings the price even lower.
Bea...utiful Season. I like Mountain high Ski resort. Easy to get there & very friendly staff I cannot resist ...
i used to be a big fan of mt high; until i realized how gimmicky they are. I had a promotion ticket where i could get mine free when my friend would buy his. they didn't want to honor it because they said it had to specifically be a time based ticket and not valid with online purchases but no where in the terms/fine print does it say that. Yet my friend was buying a point based ticket which is more than double a normal ticket. Seriously?
He's buying a ticket that costs double that of a normal one yet they don't want to honor my promo. I wish an attorney would show up here and scare them straight. Is the fine print supposed to be attached to their prices board and I'm supposed to have telepathy to see it with my eyeballs directly from my house? Just so I can know exactly what is or isn't valid with my promo? the website says nothing either. waste of time driving up there.
forget the promo for a second, the other problem is, they never offer dynamic pricing based on demand or snow quality. They're charging $79 on a weekend, when they claim to have 6-12 inches of snow yet most of the runs are very thin and they all have at least some rocks protruding outward AND bare patches. yet during the week they'll offer lower prices because no one wants to be there at those times. my suggestion: offer better deals based on value/snowfall and THEN charge more if the snow is good. what a bulls*** place to come, might as well goto big bear area and you can find some better deals too at the smaller resorts over there
I have been here several times this particular day and visit was mainly to get a picture of a snowball fight which there had no snow but a patch that I managed to get the pictures of for my Trifecta challenge
The snow was pretty much melted when we went. Its nice and cold. Dont take babies they might get small cold. it took about a week after my visit for my body temperature to come up as i was always cold after visiting. Dont forget your gloves!!
It's great for LA resident, coz it's so close. Condition is so-so however....
It was fun everybody was nice and a real good atmosphere
First time snowboarding. Awesome place, great prices and friendly people. I suggest getting here before 7:30 if you want to get rentals and find free parking.
Is a great place to go for beginner/intermediate skiiers/boarders. Has classes for both from young children (about 4) to adults and seniors
I go here every Christmas. And especially that tree that I broke my arm with. The ski patrol and health Team are so nice to me when I broke it. Also they have amazing food and music.
Beautiful with amole of place to roam , hike and sking
Good beginner to intermediate mountain. Their advanced and expert runs aren't all that advanced. Easy drive from LA though
Fantastic for being completely man made at this point in the season. Lines are reasonable. Love the new lift turn styles. No mode people scanning everyone.
My son loves mountain High and it gives me great pleasure coming here, the staff is always nice to us.
Great Monday through Friday but never ever go on the weekend.
The prices were completely wrong then what you see online and they will not honor what was online. They don t update it ever. If you have the Opportunity to go an extra couple miles big bear is 100% better.
Staff was accommodating, but we got mixed answers to our questions.
Fantastic experience! Close to LA downtown; friendly coach and staffs. Highly recommended.
Lucky to have such a great ski resort so close to LA. Most the staff and especially Amando with Ski Patrol were extremely helpful. Conditions were the best in years the day we went. The parking setup on busy days needs some better coordination. If MH could join the two resorts that would be idealistic, waiting for over-crowded buses just doesn t cut it.
Wonderful mountain. It s great, and has an excellent ski school for the kids (or adults who need a quick refresher). A quick four hour class and you re ready to go. It s also very nice that The roads are always plowed and not curved mountain roads. Great place to visit
Had a great experience. Ask for JC if you are looking for snowboarding lessons. Especially for kids
Loving mountain high.. You can ski for free if you're a beginner on the conveyor belt instead of lift to see if you can do it before you get lift passes. Although theres not enough space for people to chill indoor especially when theres snow storm
Nice local mountain skiing and snowboarding. Good prices for clothing and food. When the snow is good, all runs are open.
I love mountain high! Great price for night boarding, friendly staff and closest resort to my home.
It is fantastic for its size. Easy to get to for people who get motion or car sick.
Very fun! Must visit. Come after 5 pm for a night time discount or buy powder pack!!! Rent at Benny s down the street and you don t need a down payment plus it s cheap and GREAT QUALITY.
Amazing place for people wishing to learn how to start but also for seasoned vets to get a good day of runs in without breaking the bank and driving to somewhere like Mammoth. I was very mixed coming here after so many years where I usually go to Mammoth, but the season hadn't ended and I hadn't gotten my fix of snowboarding yet. My girlfriend wanted to learn and I thought "why not knock out two bird's with one stone". As it being only an hour and a half away I thought it was perfect for her as a start. Amazing to find out how soft and fluffy the snow is which is perfect for those learning and may fall more than others. The only reason i don't feel it deserves 5 stars is due to the very few runs. But for the distance and price I still think it is very much worth going to.
It was so much fun bringing the family here! I can't wait to do it again!
Great facility, very close to LA. Get there early to avoid the crowds, or get there late and ski after the crowds have left.
Great when there is fresh powder, otherwise can be icy
Great service, not too busy lines. Rentals are ok. Not too expensive overall. Easy to get here. I'd come here again.
My favorite local SoCal boarding spot. They keep the mtn in great shape for all levels of abilities. Rails, boxes, kickers, what can you say but AWESOME!
Convenient and fun. Crowded on the weekends. Friendly helpful staff.
Depends on when you go, might be crowded on a sunny day, or might be foggy/snowing conditions so check before hand. However the staff does its best to keep the park tidy and shredable! Absolutely amazing park for snowboarders. Boxes, rails, rainbows, jumps big and small. This is like my home turf stomping ground go to park for shredding. Waaaaayy better than Big Bear, yet not as huge as Mammoth. Id recommend getting the 4 day season pass
People needs to pick up there trash and keep the restrooms clean, if they did this place would be perfect.
There are a number of big problems that in my opinion should have been dealt with long ago. First of all This is a SKI resort. when the plows come around, the need to stop piling snow into parking spaces. By definition if the plows are running, it recently snowed, which means a surge of business...There already is insufficient parking to handle the weekend crowds that show up, and even moreso when there are snow piles taking up parking spaces.
Next they have a sign at the entrance directing people to 'park along highway 2 AT YOUR OWN RISK' This is just laying the ground for people to get towed. Parking along highway 2 is 100% ILLEGAL. This even applies if highway 2 is CLOSED. DO NOT PARK ON HIGHWAY 2. The only places on highway 2 you can park, are in the PULLOFFs. DO NOT simply pull off the highway and park, this is not allowed. you must be in an actual pulloff, that is paved or cleared for that specific purpose.
The bottom line, go on a weekday that isn't also a holiday, or don't bother going.
Mountain high - you can't beat the drive for skiing. And the slopes are great for beginner/intermediate boarding. They lack the advanced runs (especially this early in the season - not 1 black diamond open as of 12/3/16, but that will change soon), but its so easy to get here... and they really do make an effort to take care of the runs they do have. I had a great 'opening weekend' up here, and it'll get better as more runs open up...
If you get a season pass, don't bother with the Preferred Parking upgrade! You pay $99 and you only get to use the privilege if you get there the first few hours of opening, and if you want a spot after that time you have to send an email to reserve, because after noon they let ANYONE park in preferred parking! How does that make any sense that people who PAY for the privilege have to email a reservation yet those who DID NOT just take those spots? It doesn't make a lot of sense does it?
Even before noon, you'll see MANY people park in preferred anyway with zero enforcement. The few times I've been able to get a spot, it was at the end because all the spots were taken by non-paying vehicles!
I absolutely had the best time here. I was surprised how close it was. We came on a Rainy Saturday so there was not much action. We arrived early to park at West Resort. I had reserved an individual private lesson and they were willing to More
Lift for amateurs too slow. Good service from instructors
this is my home mountain, even worked here for a coo min, nothing but love for all my fam in the back lot, steezin soul shreddin all day err day
Great place to get lessons and have a good time positive vibes all day
So much less busy than Big Bear, and an so much closer as well! I learned to snowboard on bear mountain, but Mountain High is a much better place to get away from the crowds and carve the slopes to your hearts content. Now offering reloadable lift tickets that you can buy online! You can skip the lines at the place, just park your car and hop on a lift
It's more expensive and less fun than Big Bear. The upside - its closer to LA and less likely to require chains when snowing to get there
Easy to rent ski and snow board. Buy the lift ticket before you get there. It is quite expensive if you purchase there.
One of the best places to board at, I live 30min. away and go their all the time.
they try, but conditions usually better at baldy and bear mtn
If your a skier this is the place to go 20 min away from the RC.
Fun fun fun!!!! Get your own food and drinks before coming up.
Great mountain! We went while us was snowing on the mountain which was so much fun. I wish they would tell you what color the run was at the bottom of the lift. Thankfully we asked someone who knew because I just started on blues and if I accidentally ended up in Black that could have been dangerous. Just like any ski resort food is over priced and lodge is super crowded.
Had an excellent night's skiing. Friendly staff and great facility. Even better that I got to ski for free being 70+.
Enjoyed my time there nice people a but crowded on intermediate level ex. But higher levels. Empty and fun
Close to Los Angeles not crowded great for a ski day
Came before openning and there were no parking spots and crazy traffic just to come in. Also waited in line to the west resort for over 40 minutes only to arrive and find that they closed it. Horribly understaffed and no parking at all.
There are quiet a few different resorts near LA (Big Bear, Summit, Snow Valley and.... ) and i would prefer any of them over this resort. I have been to Mt High about 8 times by now and it has never been satisfying. Its well worth the extra hour of drive to go to any of the other resorts. Lift tickets are over priced($65 for 4hours at Mt High comparing to $70 at Summit with a lot better of a resort and more trails and all day rather than 4hrs...), parking staff are super rude(they treat you like they are doing their job as a favor to you) . Trails are not as fun as the other resorts, if you need to get rentals over the weekend it may take up to 3 HOURS!!!!
Closest, least expensive and least crowded ski area...even better when there is enough actual snow to ski.
Note:2/4/10 Went to ski and got as far as the main exit before loosing all traction and became stuck partially. Locking the exit! But thank god there was a AAA truck waiting for another call because he grabbed his shovel and got me out. And I kept going back home. Bust of a trip but met an angel.
Awesome place, very easy to get to as it's right off the Highway. I left downtown San Diego at 4:30 am, was able to buy tickets, rent skis, and eat right in time for the lift to open and be one of the first down the hill. Great fun day and was back home by 6:00 for a fun day and great sunny California weather.
Had the best time ! Will definitely be going back soon !
It was a great day of skiing at Mountain High. Great burger, too.
The weather was great this evening, the snow wasn't too bad considering we haven't had a storm. In a couple of weeks, and there wasn't that many people for night boarding. I would go here again.
