Mountain High is in Wrightwood CA and is my favorite Southern California ski resort. This is partly because of the drive to get there.. no winding roads and the transition to the elevation is almost unnoticeable. The other reason is the friendly people who work at the resort and their willingness to always help.. With a genuine smile. I first learned to ski at this resort 20 years ago and conditions have always been good for me.

From bunny hills to black diamond you're covered. In the past I've gone up to the second level and didn't come down to the bottom for hours as there is a second level lift that take you from the middle (top of bunny level) up to intermediate and advance levels. In addition there is an express lift that takes you from from bottom to the top..pretty quick too. This is good for a longer ski run.

If you are injured or need repair you'll be greeted with more of that awesome service from people who know their stuff. The resort is prepared for incident. .. hopeful you won't need it. This year I had a problem with my ski and ski patrol came fully prepared and a very experienced patrol gave me a lift down. Warning cover up as you will be showed with snow. . in light though it's almost like a amusement park ride and I didn't mind at all (I covered up with goggles and my coat over my face)
Pricing at the resort is a bit costly but no different them at any other resort. Alternatively there are several places just 2 miles away that have rentals and food in the city of Wrightwood that you'll pass just before the resort.
I'm happy with the easy drive and great customer service

Even though the 2017-2018 season was extremely challenging due to the lack of snow, the Mtn High staff did a great job keeping the West side open and staffing the place at night during January. Sure, it's no Mammoth or Big Bear but it's the closest resort to LA. There are also a lot of park features such as jumps and boxes for those of you who freestyle. For those wanting to visit the park for the first time, make sure to check your calendars for the open dates and times! They may vary during the week due to weather or staffing issues. I recommend this place for intermediate+ skiers/snowboarders only.

I loved the resort, however one of the managers Mando... maybe Armando was rude. If it wasn't for him I would come back however his rude and inexcusable words towards his staff created a hostile environment and I will NEVER come back as long as he works here

Smaller resort, could do all open runs in a day. West was busier and has great freestyle features from easy to way hard and all kinds of terrain. East was almost empty with nice wide blue and black runs. North not open when I went.

We always make a trip out here during the snow season. It's beautiful and full of life. You'll find plenty of trails to hike and hills to slide down. There are lots of turnouts with beautiful views and picnic areas for grilling.

Took my family to yeti snowplay at the west resort. Way overpriced for what you get. It was opening day so maybe they ll get it right and have the sled lane opened up quicker ( was opened up up after an hour but I payed for a two hour block).pretty lame for the 59 dollar price tag which doesn t include the 20 dollar parking charge. Obviously not recommended

I like this ski resort because of their pont ticket that you purchase points instead of a day ski, it means for $50 you can go up the hill for 10 times, no matter in a day, 2days or even next season.
The Ski Area is very good too and I love it after 23 years of Skiing

Melted ice patches on rocks and dirt. 2 yrs ago on February we've had our boards scraped on rocks and one permanently damaged on our first run there due to the poor unkempt conditions of the slope. We went to get refunded and they just gave us a postponed ticket good until November 1 of the same year. Really?! Mt. High pretty much closed after that day and didnt open until mid December. Last year we had to rent boots because our son had the mega growth spurt. From the ticket window at 10 a.m. we got the rental boots by 11:45 a.m. We have been wrightwood residents for 35+ years. We know better to come on off days but even then it's so crowded you can't do a run without having to stop or slow down for people crowding the slope. Doing a turn around trip to mammoth is better than coming here.

A lot of the staff are lazy highschool kids who have no idea how to keep things organized. The rental layout was so poorly organized we waited for 2 hours. Rent elsewhere. Actually just ski elsewhere.

Just two hours away or less from LA, it's definitely worth the short drive to go snowboarding/ski ING. There are a few lifts and options for experts and beginners. It does get busy so get there before they even open to avoid parking lot chaos and street jams. If you get there a little later, driving up will be a little crazy since people just pull over to the side of the mountain to play in the snow. If you're looking to get some snow sport action in and don't want to drive too far, def consider Mountain High. Check the snow report before heading up.

Worst experience I ve ever had from customer service. Called on the way up asking about an accident asking if a accident happened and lady gave me attitude, IM NOT TRAFFIC CONTROL! Never going back. The attitude didn t stop there. When I was buying a lift ticket it looked like whatever the lady was doing was more important than customers.

Fantastic place for beginners- this is where I taught my kids to ski. Best rental equipment I've ever seen. Staff was friendly and helpful. Parking could not have been better. Night skiing was a tremendous amount of fun. I could not have asked for a better first time experience for my kids.

Online ticket unclear on their instruction that lead you to believe that you buy 6-pack ticket for 6 people, but it turns out 6-pack mean "you can ONLY use one ticket per day." I bought the tickets and didn't found out until when I got to the Mountain that I can use only 1 time per day for only 1 person that register with them. It was a waste of the of my money ($265.00) for the rest of my unused tickets and because it expired too quick to give you a chance to go back for more. Also, this was our first time went to Mountain and felt like it was a ripe off. This was misleading people, because when I stand online to get the ticket, one of the people standing in line next to me, he said he had the same problem.

Good local mountain for quick day trips, snow isn't always the best, but being 45 minutes away from the inland empire makes it totally worth it. More orientated towards park riders, runs are short but can help to build confidence in beginners.

This is my peaceful, happy place. I try to go at least once a year, twice if possible, and I stay avout 8 hours. It's less than 2 hours away from LA and the drive through the mountains is not so bad when the roads are clear (their website is almost always updated with current conditions whether you need chains or not) so I try to go when there are no chain requirements. They have a free parking lot at the bottom and paid at the top ( if it's full) and another lot you can get to/from with their with their shuttle. They have a pretty good variety or (yes, overpriced) food/ beverages and they do have a bar with cols beers. Yay! I like to go late morning and stay to night ride. The staff is friendly there, and it is a bit crowded sometimes but that's expected since it's a short drive from LA or near cities. It's beautiful there, crisp air. They have multiple slopes/ difficulty along with a bunny slope for learning and lessons as well. You can rent gear there and they also have a repair shop which has come in handy for me

I used to ride Mt high every weekend. I then switched to bear mountain. Mountain High lies about thier conditions. They claim they have gotten more snow then they really got and report the higher amount of the snow total (if they got 2-4 , they only report 4 ). I don t blame them for bad conditions, it isn t their fault. They just need to be honest about it instead of convering it up with faulty marketing.

Not a kid friendly place. If you have kids under 10 years of age, leave them at home. The lifts come too fast and are too high for a young child to get on. I got run over by the lifts twice trying to lift my child on the lifts and getting on myself. The second time, my knees got hurt and I had to stop snowboarding. It hurt for two months. You can ask them to help get your child on but getting off is an issue too. I asked them to make sure it slows down when we reach the top. The girl on duty phone the guy at the top, but when we got there it was still going way too fast. I yelled at the lift operator to slow down but it was no use. I quickly jump off and had to yank my child down and we both fell. The lifts are very dangerous with young children. This is a shame because the slopes were perfect for beginners and thus young children.

I'm looking at the other reviews; how mountain High miss leads people/visitors. Last season they had a promo that when you buy $100 of gift card you get $15 credit voucher. But they ended their season early and didn't have a chance to go up; so I emailed them to see what would happen to the gift cards that I bought when they close early! so the Marketing dept. Manager John McColly email back (" I'm afraid the $15 bonuses vouchers were only good this season but the $100 Gift Cards are good indefinitely so please hold on to them and use them next year)". So if you don't pick up your cards, you're out of luck. I thought you needed to honor what you offered as an incentive to come to your ski resort and have southern Californians come and support your business. I will use my gift certificates, But will never go back there again even if it was for a $1 a lift ticket. (I'm just kidding. for $1 I'll go :) )
I'm not saying we don't have fun there, we do. and the staff are nice and helpful. but they need to take care of their core support sothern California people. and make sure they cover the the bare spots with snow..

Easiest drive from Orange County, 45 minutes without traffic.

Has enough park features (jumps, boxes, rails, etc) to keep even the experienced riders entertained.

Snow has already been plentiful as of the first 2 weeks of December.

Tickets are a bit pricey, but overall a great resort.

Not a friendly place. The staff was extremely rude, unwilling and unhelpful. There is no parking anywhere, you can't park on the side of the road because there's police yelling at you over the intercoms. I will never be coming back to this place, yes it's beautiful to see but if you're trying to go and have a good time with the family and not wanting to skiing , you're in the wrong place.

I used to recommend Mt. High as the place to learn...

I used to recommend Mt. High as the place to learn for beginners because of their point system. Skiing/snowboarding is an expensive activity and the old point system that allowed you to share with your friends and family made it affordable for beginners to try the sport and then come back the whole season to get better. It made it easier to overcome the cost factor of learning the sports. Now, Mt. High is on its way to becoming just another ski resort that will make it more expensive for people to learn and enjoy winter activities. The daily lift tickets are $20 more than last year, parking is $20 per vehicle... Maybe I can support the extra cost if I could see where the extra income was being spent at the resort. Unfortunately, that's not the case.

Pros: 1.25 mile trail in East Resort, traffic not as bad as trips to Big Bear, a debit card like point system lift ticket (6 minute wait between scans)

Cons: $20 parking on pot holed lots, menu items inconsistent between lodges/resorts

First of all, please buy tickets on line. If more than one skiing, buy the points pass. 200.00 bucks for 1000 points. This pass lasted us more than 2 days of skiing for 3 people. Great value, any leftover points can be used anytime during season. Food was pretty decent and not expensive as we expected. Go to big bennys for ski rentals. A steal at 15 bucks per day, cheapest I've ever paid. Overall very family oriented, mountain was small and half of it was closed in late December but they make their own snow and kept us busy for 4 days.
