The Motorists Mutual Insurance Company building, in addition to being an insurance company, is the location of the offices of U.S. Congressional Representative Joyce Beatty.

Following my most-recent visit to Beatty's office [5-21-2019], I became concerned about the fact that wheelchair access to that building seems to be very poorly marked.

Most people who enter that building from E. Broad St. [for example, if they have traveled there by COTA bus] will walk up three steps, open a door, turn right, and then walk on a long circuitous route [that includes one step up and one step down] towards the guard station.

People who use wheelchairs who are traveling on the sidewalk on E. Broad St. will need to somehow figure out that the only wheelchair entrance to the building from E. Broad St. involves using the walkway on the east side of the building and then traveling south on that walkway to the wheelchair-accessible door that is that is about halfway back on the east side of the building.

A well-worn "wheelchair access" sign is visible for eastbound people -- but not for westbound people -- who are traveling on the sidewalk on E. Broad St.

People who use wheelchairs who park in the parking lot [directly behind the former Christian Science church building] may access a similar door on the west side of the building.

Good luck getting your car fixed with Motorists Ins if one of their customers damages your vehicle. First the adjuster persuaded me away from my normal bodyshop. Then he recommended that I get it quoted at the Toyota dealership bodyshop. When I got a quote from the dealership that was higher, the adjuster refused to pay the required amount to repair the car. He felt his 10 min parking lot walk around estimate was more accurate than the dealership s 30 min inspection on a car lift. When I refused to accept his lowball estimate, he said I could have my insurance company pay for it and then fight Motorists for the money. He knows that If I did that, my insurance company would penalize me for an accident claim and raise my rates. What a dishonest way to NOT pay a claim Motorists. You should be ashamed!

Great company. I had water backed up in my basement after my sump pump failed and they were very helpful. I did have the optional water back up coverage on my policy and they covered the loss up to the limit as expected.

I am a roofing contractor who is working with a policy holder of Encova. My client has been employed by Encova for YEARS. They are refusing to properly pay for the storm damage she has on her roof. They have been difficult and incredibly rude. I would not recommend this company for anyone looking for a new insurance policy. You do not run into this issue with actual insurance companies such as: State Farm, All-State, Farmers, etc. If this company refuses to take care of it s own employees, why would they care about you?

They dropped me from my insurance due to an accident I had a few months ago. They said it was my fault and a moving violation and failure to yield . There was no police involved in this accident and therefore no police report for them to go off of. What really happened was that I was at an intersection turning right, it was a snow storm out of nowhere. I had a green light so as I turned right, my car slid into a truck that was in the lane Next to where I was turning. He had a red light so he was stopped. That is not a failure to yield because I had a green light and my lane was the only one moving. He had a red light. The only damage to my car was the left fender was broken off but that made sense considering this car was a hand me down from my aunt and was already being held together by zip ties. It was a 2007 car so of course they totaled it. But they dropped me on a false report that didn t even happen and makes no sense... who was I yielding to? The green light ? Air?

This company denied my claim via my lawyer against the construction company that did not finish my driveway properly and caused me to have extensive surgeries for my injuries. This happened last year! Now for a lawsuit against them! Stay away from these crooks!

Absolutely terrible customer service. The two customer service reps we spoke to were lazy, unreliable, and did not follow through on their responsibilities. They couldn't even follow through on the simple task of sending us updated insurance ID cards. If you are looking for reliable customer service that doesn't drop calls and blow off customers, then do not go through them.

Worst company I have ever dealt with. Denied coverage for a claim. When I showed that I did have coverage according to policy they then seemed annoyed that I actually read policy. I asked why they said I did not have coverage and they said it wasn t there responsibility to tell me if I had coverage and I should know my policy. I asked why they said I didn t have coverage when I really did and they kept dodging the question and now have tried denying claim using any excuse possible. I asked to work with someone else on the claim and I guess for the entire company they only have one employee because they said no one else works there and I had to deal with the adjuster who has lied and insulted me straight to my face.

This so called "insurance company" represents a local Louisville business whose employee's negligence caused extensive water damage to my condo. I was forced into signing a release which was supposed to provide lodging for me while I was left virtually homeless.

The lump sum payment I received only covered 3 of 4 weeks of lodging.

I was lied to regarding when I would be back in my home only to find out that repair approvals were issued 8 days after I signed the release. How can a company who is supposed to try to help one in my position do this to anyone? This should be criminal.

After reading the other reviews I would recommend an investigation as to their bullying tactics. I have already filed a complaint with the BBB and plan to make their inability to do the right thing known to everyone who is in tune with social media.

I have always done my best to do the right thing its just a shame that those who ARE in a position to help those who have been affected by a tragedy do not. Chris B and Mark G of this company should be called out for their underhanded practices. Company policy or not they are not capable of helping those who have been affected by their clients.

Next stop will be on other social media websites and I plan to tie in their insured as well as they have crawled into their shell and are allowing Motorists to do their dirty work.

Well I have a lot of time on my hands and plan to use it spreading the word to everyone so they can be made aware of Motorists underhanded practices and lack of compassion for those who they have displaced and left virtually homeless.

I strongly recommend getting an attorney when dealing with this Insurance Company. Especially if you are dealing with a woman named Teresa Zangus. She is very good at looking after Motorists interests. I am $2200.00 upside down on repairs that Motorist refused to pay for. It took 13 weeks to get my vehicle repaired and 6 weeks of rental car fees.

Do you like paying double what you should be paying for auto and home? Do you enjoy paying your hard earned money to a company that makes it incredibly inconvenient to cancel. This is the company for anyone looking for a high blood pressure low value experience! Took over a week to finally send an adjustor to look at a vehicle 2 days longer to cut a check for repair. Can never find my policy when I call. Now to add insult to injury they require a hand written cancellation letter with each policy # and date you request termination MAILED to their headquarters... Sounds like a great way to steal a couple more dollars from me until my letter arrives. Company is outdated and overpriced.

Let me start by saying if I could give them a zero I would. I was involved in an accident that was not my fault. The positive was that no one was hurt. This also meant that no police officer would come out and write a report. The other driver admitted fault to his company. His company said the state in which the accident occurred is a no fault state and they would not pay for any damage to my car and I would need to go through my Insurance. This is where i knew I was about to get screwed. I have had Motorists for 5 years and never had a claim. From the beginning there was nothing but problems. The claims adjuster would not return a phone call for 5 days. I had to go though my agent to get any real communication from them. Their customer service is the worst that I have ever experienced. Long story short. They wanted to use broken used parts to fix my car and I ended up having to pay four thousand dollars out of my own pocket to get my car repaired correctly. Motorists might be cheap, but I have learned a valuable lesson. You get what you pay for! Do yourself a favor and steer clear of these guys.

Their record keeping is pretty terrible - the new Encova rebranding I would imagine is their attempt to sidestep the bad name Motorists has created. Similar to other stories here - I paid my premiums all along. I found a better insurance rate with another company, and I cancelled my auto insurance before the renewal date. I put in writing my cancelation - again 1 week before the renewal date. Two months after cancelling suddenly two months later, a mysterious $81 bill shows up. I notified them in writing that the $81 bill must be in error - but their response is that they are going to a collection agency. It's not worth my time to fight, and I don't need my credit effected. Bottomline, this company is not worth your time. The company's leaderships decision is wise to rebrand. But don't be fouled - the new name is just a cover to conceal the problems that are pervasive with this company.

I was very leery after reading all these bad reviews that I had my guard up dealing with this insurance company. I have to say that this was probably one of the best companies that I ever dealt with after an accident with their customer. Terry in claims was so patient and helpful. Lisa was such a pleasure to talk and she worked so efficiently on this claim. She was also very responsive. Just an amazing an experience from start to finish .

3 months and still going, if you have to deal with this company, HIRE A LAWYER!! The representative was rude to the Dr.'s assistant at the treatment facility. And I quote, "I hope he (me) gave you his insurance information, because I (Candi @ Encova) are not paying for the treatment."
So now I am paying out of pocket, for the next logical step of treatment, to the tune of several thousand dollars, for an injury that occured at work. Oh and they conveniently paid half of my weekly claim to me, after a dozen calls over 2 1/2 months, emails and various 'formulas" and explanations, I had to go in person to payroll department of my employer to have it ultimately resolved.

Easily the worst experience I've had with an insurance company. After years of paying premiums, they treated me like a burden rather than a customer. They were slow to respond throughout the process and required me to get documents such as accident reports despite my injuries. I will not be doing business with them any longer.

I carry renters policy and vehicle coverage and the home I rented had the a cracked brick and water ran down and damaged my television and very expensive Bose home theatre and damaged all the speaker boxes and tv . They would not cover it cause it was poor home maintenance and the rental company would have to cover it . They said unless the house burns down or someone vandalized the home or broke in its not covered . So why the hell am I paying for it ???? They are horrible and took over a week just to tell me it wasn't covered after they sent the adjuster out . I am shopping for new coverage cause this place is a joke and half

Motorists Insurance is a terrible company. Thrives solely on the lying and deceitful nature that insurance companies are known for. DO NOT EXPECT A CLAIM TO BE APOROVED OR PAID...and the time to get them to respond was well ovef a month!

I am speechless. We received a letter with a notice of cancellation and a credit for unused premium although we have NEVER been with them. In addition that letter was sent to us in the respond of the vendor we used only once last year. So whatever the letter was stating made NO sense at all. I've been trying to reach them numerous times and not one call was picked up. I would've never relied on such insurance company by any means. Be aware!
