It's a really nice hotel, however, there's a lot of simple things missing you'd expect from a place so expensive. No ice machine, microwave, or fridge. More of a club like atmosphere then a typical hotel. The staff was really friendly but when I called the Marriott to ask questions about the hotel I was mislead and almost didn't have a place to stay for a week. Thankfully the staff took pity on us and helped us out.

Would not recommend. Tried to get in to experience the roof top bar. Whilst on holiday. Got stopped by the Miserable doorman and refused entrance and insisted on id from a 48 yo. And a 55yo. Stay clear.

Although no fault of the hotel I had to share a one bed room with my eldest son. The room was tiny no room for anything and my son had to sleep on the floor.
Very clean and food was lovely staff very helpful. This is more for a younger
Generation. The rooftop bar was full of reserved tables so we could not be seated and it was full of party goers .... not enough staff on bar either. No room service as such we were told to help ourselves to extra towels and bedding etc from a room next to lifts. Would not stay again ... disco goes on till 4am and is very loud ....ear plugs provided but never helped.

The Moxy is A GREAT Hotel. Centrally located near Times Square (4 streets away and on 7th Ave) has access to hundreds of restaurants. Four of them on site. Legasea, Egghead, Pizzeria and Bakery. It has food available for purchase, and a Cool bar, on the 2nd level. Their club MAGIC HOURS is one of the best in the country. Its view can't be beaten. With views of the Empire state, a carousel on site, and tons of cool magic tricks and drinks, that will make you think you are Houdini. Weekdays they have a Complimentary Candy Bar from 3-6 PM in their lobby. Complimentary morning coffee and crazy delicious Happy Hours. Oysters, Crab Beignets and more things to choose from, are available at the hotel. You can save money by taking advantage of their Happy Hours, Morning coffee and storage luggage. Complimentary, so you can continue exploring this amazing city, even when you are about to leave. Loved staying here. Their beds are very comfortable. No back pain, or any other type of pain to be had here at The Moxy!!!

Location, vibration, location.

Location, vibration, location.
This hotel is the perfect location. That is the most important fact.
The AC is stupidly loud. After asking three times over the course of an evening and morning, for someone to come and look at it, they finally did and, to be fair, had the unit housing off to check it. He said this is the normal noise for the AC unit. It is my first time in New York so I can only assume that this is the truth around here. I have never stayed, nor lived, in a place with such an AC noise. EDIT: upon checking out, we mentioned the drilling din of the AC and were given a small reduction in the overall stay cost. The good will, and unprompted, gesture of this is why I gave a 5*
Staff super cool, music super cool and room, noisy, but super cool.

Very new in that it's incomplete; threadbare rooms, a fire alarm at 4am that didn't even work correctly, nothing is complementary and despite the candy decor it's not for kids. Find a cheaper option; it'll be the better option hands down.

Flee as long as it's time !!! On paper the hotel is top: decor, atmosphere and company, blah blah blah ... But GROS BEMOL, some rooms are under their rooftop. And then there is the drama, impossible to close the eye of the night, even the earplugs are ineffective. The bass is so powerful that the walls vibrate, hell! And of course the manager of the hotel explains that it is not possible to change rooms because the hotel is full. Grrrrrrr Thanks MOXY

It is a beautiful location and setup; when you walk in, you have to get your hand stamped with an invisible stamp and it feels very exclusive. The prices for alcohol are a little outrageous but it is part of the experience and let's be honest, it's Manhattan. I would definitely go back.

Let's start with something positive. The location ...

Let's start with something positive. The location is great for exploring Manhattan. And the shower was good and unusually large for such a small room.

That's about it.

So what didn't we like about the Moxy?

How about with the fact my wife had a shopping bag taken from the room. Instead of taking responsibility, management have been dismissive and after a week of obfuscating eventually accused us of leaving the room unlocked. As it turns out the two times they claim we left the room unlocked we were 1) out actually buying the items that were stolen, and 2) we hadn't event checked in to the hotel! This matter is yet to be resolved despite our best efforts.

The rooms are TINY, which you expect in Manhattan, but this was a new level of small in our experience. Compounding this issue was the fact the air-conditioning motor was located in the room within a wall cavity next to the bed. To make matters even worse again, the bed was pushed right up against said wall. Every time the unit started up (when the AC was actually working that is) it sounded like a car was driving through the room. The ear-plugs on the bed side table were a sign of what was to come. Leaving the AC off was simply not an option as the room was like a sauna, despite cool conditions outside.

Finally, there is no storage to hang clothes. Zero. There's also nowhere to place suitcases so they are out of the way. Overall, very basic amenities provided in the room.

There was no sink in the bathroom. Bar soap instead of liquid. No chair to sit down and work on my laptop. And strangest of all. Odd "art" in the room and lobby. Seems like a place for a younger generation.

1. I was placed in room 802, the rooftop bar goes until 4am and is LOUD. Louder than general street noise, it sounded like a nightclub outside my room. I asked to be moved and was told there were no quiet rooms available. However my friends who also stayed in the hotel obviously complained a little louder and were moved immediately.
2. Day 2 I had to complain further to be moved and got attitude from the host downstairs. However the room I was moved too was alittle bigger and definitely quieter.
3. New room the TV was broken and could not be repaired
4. I ordered breakfast, my order was collected, but never arrived. I followed up, they had made a mistake however because the restaurant isn t connected to the hotel, no one could re-order my meal.

It s a clean, well designed hotel in a good location. However a series of events have made it an unpleasant experience.

Staff is great, beautiful hotel butttttt it is MINIMALIST STYLE hotel. It means that rooms are tiny and there is little to no privacy in the restroom. Super cute if it's just a couple or a few close friends that don't mind seeing u use the restroom. Besides that and no free parking it's super shiek/stylish. Oh also one of our pillows looked like it had a drop of blood on the corner of it. When I went to complain about it the service desk dude said it was from the chemical/spray they disinfect the rooms with, don't know if I believed him. But they exchanged all of our pillows quickly to make us feel more comfortable.

I had an extremely poor experience here. The only ...

I had an extremely poor experience here. The only manager on premise during a time where a friend and I felt uncomfortable, the managers name is Mike H, was very passive and dissmisive. While walking up the stairwell, a friend and I stopped for a brief conversation. Security guards of the hotel came to say that our volume was too loud and we immediately apologized, felt badly, and started to go about our way. The guards then continued on to say that there was video recording of us talking, and stood in very threatening positions, apparently trying to intimidate us. We quickly found an exit from the situation, in fear and discomfort, and then situation got worse from there. I realized that I had accidentally dropped my key, and we went to the lobby to ask for a replacement. We spoke with a front desk employee and received a key. I asked how I could go about logging a concern, and as the security guards had followed us to the lobby and lingered around the elevators while we were at the desk. I asked to speak to a manager, and the front desk employee brought Mike H to the desk. I expressed our discomfort to him, and he immediately tried to make us feel guilty about how there was a noise complaint and that we had lost our key. I don t see how those two instances were related, nor what they had to do with our discomfort concern. I asked if there was another manager that I could speak to, and Mike H said that it was only him until tomorrow. By then, him and the guards had exchanged multiple looks, and then one of the guards came over to the desk, and in his words, asked us nicely to go to our room . I did not know what to do, and I considered calling law enforcement. I decided not to in the moment (again out of fear and confusion), and we went to my room. As a last attempt, I called the phone number for the hotel in hopes to speak to another manager or Marriott representative. Mike H was the one to respond, and reacted the same way as he did in the lobby. I cannot believe that this happened. I will be reporting this to other management, law enforcement, and my company that has us a relationship with this hotel. Please be wary of staying here.

The absolute most miserable bar staff in all of nyc. The woman at the bar this morning with the grey dress was insanely rude to the man who ordered the seltzer before me and was unprofessionally rude to me. She spoke in a low bothered voice, took about 13 minutes before even talking to me when she was doing nothing but looking for something to do rather than attendant the customer who was waiting. If you hate your job then quit!

The hotel is very modern with all the fuss super fun. Small rooms The only bad thing is that they promote the terrace with an incredible view but they do not clarify that children under 21 can not access and adults who stay at the hotel have to do the same line as anyone who comes from outside to go up. Everything else beautiful.

Very modern hotel in the center of midtown Manhattan. Their staff is friendly. They have a very well equipped fitness area and an amazing rooftop with the view of the Empire state. It is conveniently located by the subway as well. The rooms are a bit small but it is typical for Manhattan.

Dreadul hotel - the Chelsea Moxy is much much nicer. My room was accidentally sold to someone else on the night I checked in and i was given a 2nd floor room with 2 single bunk beds instead - it was hot, cramped, noisy, and definitely not worth the c.$700 I was charged for it! THe night after I was moved to a marginally better room and given $200 of bar credit as compensation - I was told if I did not spend this it would be refunded to my card.

Upon checking out, I was told that indeed there was no refund and as I did not use the bar credit (given I was there on a business trio, working until late with no time) I effectively was offered no compenation at all.

Email correspondance on this issue was met with a very rude and abrupt response that would frankly put me off staying in a Moxy ever again.

Super easy checkin and checkout, as well as a good luggage room and nice bars to have a drink and a meal.

Double room was super tiny, suitable for one person. If you're claustrophobic though make sure you at least book a room with a queen size bed in it. Other then that, it was clean, kitschy fun designed, and close to everything. While they're "Moxy Times Square" they're actually closer to Herald Square (located 2 blocks away). So if you're looking for a hotel in Times Square, it's within a 5-10 minutes walk. But it's actually in Herald Square, not Times Square.

Okay when I heard that this was a "Millennial" themed hotel I was super skeptical. But looking past the huge Jenga in The Not So conventional Lobby and the lady statue in the window made of candy, this place is awesome. I absolutely love their attention to detail and the lounge and bar areas upstairs are well-thought-out and comfortable. You can hang out there for a meeting, after work drinks, for a quick round of ping pong or to have an informal meeting. The staff is a bit scattered but what they lack in focus they make up for in friendliness. Also if you had around the corner there is a side entrance to an awesome rooftop Lounge and bar with a retractable roof.

My stay at the Moxy was a conglomeration of minor ...

My stay at the Moxy was a conglomeration of minor annoying design choices that add up to a death of a thousand cuts. The hotel follows a trend to provide smaller and smaller rooms with fewer and fewer amenities in trade for less expensive room rates and masking that with a high design feel and claiming to be modern.

The first thing you notice in the hotel room is the sink. Seems strange, but it's unavoidable since the bathroom sink is in the entrance hallway, so that the bathroom can be the just the width of the shower / toilet. Together, the entrance hallway and the bathroom are the width of the hotel room about 8.5 . The bedroom's also about 8.5 deep.

The room has no closets or drawers to put clothes in, as they are replaced with a Quaker inspired rail of pegs that runs the length of the room. There are only three hangers. A heavier coat hanger is provided but this hanger is not movable. Not all the pegs are usable, since some are used to hang the body length mirror, and to store the room s table and extra chair. More are unusable as they are over the space that the television occupies.

Additional storage is under the bed, but, of the four spaces provided, the largest is for a suitcase (move the night stand out of the way first), and the second space is the hotel room s single drawer which is occupied by the room safe. This leaves two cubbyholes, large enough each for a dress shirt.

The bed is pushed into a corner of the room, against the outside wall and its prison-like slit windows. There's less than a foot between the end of the bed and the TV, so standing there is not possible, and if you are a couple, the person sleeping next to the window must climb over their bedmate to get out. That same person is likely to roll over and be rudely awakened by the very cold, hard outside wall. The HVAC unit that sort of drowns out traffic coming through the poorly sound attenuated slit windows despite being on the fifth floor.

Other minor annoyances. No carpet, so be ready for cold floors. No iron for clothes. That's replaced by a handheld steamer, since an ironing board which takes up valuable peg space. No fridge or minibar. No privacy if you decide to take a shower (naturally, no bath in the tiny space) and your partner decides to use the toilet, as there is no shower curtain and will likely get sprayed as the shower faces the toilet. The designers were conscious of the small space because even the tiles are small to make the space seem bigger. No separate bath gel and shampoo -- that is combined into a single bottle. You also won t be able to really use the sink, which is shallower than a roasting pan, and has no stopper. No easy time using the desk, which is hung on the wall, as trying to set it up is a bit of an exercise in futility. No reading in bed if your partner turns off their light, as that is also the master light switch which turns off all the lights, rather than leaving the bedside lights individually controlled like in most hotels.

Nothing really stands up to scrutiny. The wall switches are installed haphazardly. The security peep hole in the door is installed crooked so it is always open. The art seems whimsical at first but turns out to be somewhat violent and scary with a woman bent over showing her bottom, and clouds of flatulence talking about drugs.

Check in and check out are self serve with a couple of folks there to assist. However, most seem to have trouble, and the line for help is long. The drinks in the bar are about $19 per drink after tax and tip, which seems pretty steep, especially for not top of the shelf alcohol.

Some nice things about the hotel room: Plentiful outlets, most with USB ports for device charging. The smart TV is equipped with Chromecast, and allows sign in to your favorite media streaming service.

None of the things are individually so terrible as to make a stay at the Moxy undesirable, but as a conglomeration, they add up to a feeling of hostility. If you are a hip person that values appearance over practical functionality, this is definitely the hotel for you.

Location; Excellent. Very convenient, Times Square was down the street but away from the hustle n bustle. Good food, good shopping, and transportation is right there! Penn station less than 5mins walk.

Staff; Friendly. Helpful. I needed something printed, was done for me right away. Got assistance with directions and shuttle info.

Rooms; very clean but they are small, not roomy but we expected that...we re in NYC Times Square. Still had everything you would need to be comfortable. No microwave or fridge in room.

Extra note; this is a busy hotel as there is a rooftop bar, seafood restaurant and a club.

You get what you paid for. The rooms is super small but the location convenient. I am giving 2 stars because we went on memorial day weekend and they cancelled our reservation. We arrived at 11 am and told us they were fully booked (even at.that time). I got upset and the manager on call was completely rude. (He actually said that was the situation and he didn't have time to talk to us and we should go). After a scene he offered lunch (at the hotel bar, the salmon was delicious) sent us to another hotel for one night and took us back at the next day. The other guys at the front desk were super nice. The only Extremely rude one, was the manager on duty on July 4th around noon

Horrible experience. The place is run by children. Waited an hour for an extra pillow when we checked in at 11pm. This is after they stuffed us in the wrong room. No one ever answers the phone. Very unprofessional staff. Makes me want to switch to Hilton hotels from now on, after 15 years of loyalty to Marriott.
