Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience with the Moore Company and cannot recommend their services. Please see below for why:
(a) Valuation. Our agent, Terri Irvin, grossly overestimated the value of our home (even with a comparative across the street of a new house, at a lower price), despite being overly confident that it would move quickly. Ultimately, we sold for almost $30,000 less.
(b) Overly Confident. Based on her reassurances, my husband took a job, in a different city, and we put an offer in on another home. We lost two other homes (and due diligence money) before our house sold (and lived in different cities for a month).
(d) Personal Life. Terri's personal life seemingly interfered with her professional responsibilities. We frequently received the response that she was sorry for the late reply's, but she was with family.
(e) Lack of marketing. We had to request the agent and buyer open houses (not offered as an option by our agent up front). Our agent did not host the open houses, because she had other open houses to conduct (showing us this was not a priority). We had to call the owner before we were offered a tour video of the home for the website.
(f) Due Diligence and Timeliness. When we received the due diligence report, I specifically asked Terri if we needed to follow-up on any of the items. She said The Moore Company would handle everything. The day before closing, she reached out to let me know they forgot an item and to leave a check on the counter (we were also out of town at this point).
(g) Disputes. The sellers were unhappy with the house during their final walk through. They wanted all of the holes filled and the walls painted (not in the contract). I specifically asked Terri prior about filling holes and she said only "big" holes. She then later asked why I wouldn't leave the nails in the wall, so there would not be holes (we didn't know this was standard in real estate without the advice of our agent). They wanted molding fixed in the kitchen (not in the contract). They wanted the windows washed (house received a final clean, but this is a bit much). They wanted the curtains (contract stated window coverings, so without agent assistance, we assumed this meant curtain rods and blinds). All-in-all, they requested $5,000 to close, knowing that we were pressed for time since we were closing in a different state at the same time, on a new house.
(h) Dispute Resolution and Attitude. We felt The Moore Company should have reimbursed our $5,000, due to their lack of representation. They offered $1,000, but we felt this was too low. We continued to reach out to them, but they will not call us back. We are happy to let the money go though, to let others know about our service. During our other closing, I had Terri on speaker phone and the attorney's office stated they could not believe my own agent would speak to me in that manner. Terri treated me as if I was a child that had done something wrong (and not a 30-something attorney). She acted as if we should just "know" these things about a real estate transaction, despite her absence during the entire process. We complained about her agency multiple times to the owner of The Moore Company (during the process), and while assuring us he would do everything he could to ensure a successful partnership, we felt that he did not. When I let Terri know that I was unhappy about the entire process and already had reached out to the owner prior, she stated that she could not believe I would "go behind her back." Again, this is a business transaction, not a personal friendship, and I would appreciate my agent acting as such. Ultimately, this is why we cannot recommend The Moore Company.
