Really enjoyed myself here, very good catfish with collared greens, some of the best BBQ in Jacksonville no doubt also very friendly staff
Very good barbecue. Service is good. The beef brisket and the Brunswick stew are the things I like the best.
Nice friendly staff, great service!, CLEAN... server Jordan was on point!!!
Another stellar experience at my favorite BBQ joint in Jacksonville, FL...!!! Chris our server was awesome--professional and attentive!! And our food was fresh hot and succulent!!! We got the "Whole Hog" and had plenty to go! It's always worth the trip!!!
Best bbq joint around a little pricey but worth it, you get what you pay for always fresh.
This is by far my fav BBQ joint in Jacksonville, we typically snobs as it relates to our BBQ but we have found our BBQ MOJO right here. We order the whole hog and there is always plenty tybto take home. The side items are so delicious that they can be meals all the themselves.
This is a great barbecue place. The service was 5 star. The food taste awesome! The service was fast. The meal came out quick. Will definitely visit again whenever I come to Jacksonville.
I love this place, they also have a location close to the beach and the food at both is great. Not many places where the southern food is actually good but this place does a pretty good job.
Awesome food, quick service. Great all around. Will definitely go again and would definitely recommend!
University location ONLY! As much as I LOVE your food, the people who make it are VERY inconsistant as far as portions (the university blvd location ONLY). I go there all the time and have complained before about this as some of them might recognise my name and my order (Nachos). Sometimes there are a lot of Nachos and a little meat (which is an absoulte rip off) and other times they give me a ton of meat and a ton of cheese and normal amount of nachos (which makes you lose money). I always get the same response, "were sorry but we do weigh it and it should be the same every time". IT IS NOT. They offer to put more on if im shorted, but I always decline because all I'm asking for is consistancy (and I tell them that). How much is the meat amount supposed to weigh anyway, no cusotmer knows so why do i care about that answer unless they weigh it in front of me? Tonight I ordered something else, the small dinner with brisket and pork. I received 2 slice of brisket and about 2 or 3 ounces of pork which was about a small palm full (by estimate) FOR $17! I am unsure if this is a normal portion and the server was fantastic about it, but I got the same old answer, they do weigh it. If this is the normal portion for $17, I feel ripped off but in a whole new way. Not by an employees mistake but by Mojos. Currently my boss (who used to buy from Mojos on Beach) boycotted ordering your catering because she received in her words HORRIBLE customer service from those guys. That REALLY stinks because we cant get the catering anymore! I will continue to order food from here until I just break and boycott you myself because I feel you have some great employees like the host and the guy server who worked the closing shift today (8/25/15). Some of them do care but others are NOT doing their job. If that means sometimes I wont get a huge amount of meat in my Nachos, THATS FINE, I dont need them lol. I just need consistancy in portions and possibly even portion amounts stated in the menu (which can be great for marketing). Thanks for reading.
On the last night of our cross country trip we stopped in Jacksonville for the night. I googled BBQ restaurant near me and this gem popped up! It has totally captured the Texas BBQ experience. Inside decor was well thought out. I ordered the chicken and hubby ordered the Baby Back Ribs. They knocked it out of the park! The sides were baked beans, coleslaw, collard greens, and side salad. Oh yeah baby! Awesome. Then the icing on the cake was the Texas Toast. You k ow we will return.
decent BBQ, the brisket was ok... more like good roast beef than brisket. I would eat here again, but I would not get the brisket, perhaps the pulled pork.
Great food and severs. The chief came out and say hello. He ask about the food.
Good food with nice size portion more then fair price.
My review is based solely on buisness practices and food quality. Our waiter was awesome and the restaurant was clean.
I'm a native to Jacksonville and I'm tired of watching awesome 5 star restaurants turn into subpar tourist traps once they get a few good ratings. Mojo's used to serve fantastic and plentiful portions. They have always been pricy but also worth that price. My last visit saw them go from 5 stars to 2 as they have turned from a great restaurant into a wanna-be sports bar.
For $18 I could get the chicken smokehouse platter and have enough food for at least 2+ meals. It was the size of 2 chicken breast with 4 pieces of bacon. It was a meal worth $18 based on quality and quantity.
Now you still pay $18 but get 1/2 the meal. The quality wasn't as bad as Mcdonald's but I'd put it right above Chili's with Orsay prices. The green beans tasted canned. The chicken was less tender, more gamey and dry; as though it had been frozen too long and the moisture was ripped from it. The salad tasted old, like I was eating what was left of a bad batch before they opened a fresh bag.
I went around 5:30-6pm on a Monday afternoon. These were lunch portions served at dinner time with dinner pricing.
It might just be this Mojos. I have been to all of them (this one a few times) and this is the first bad experience. It's also been a year or so since I've been here. This might be an isolated incident or the way they do buisbusi now. I'm willing to try another location but until then, buyer beware, you can get better food at Chili's or one of those national corporate chains sadly.
Excellent BBQ, friendly staff and extra large portions
First time. Excellent food. I had Brisket Dinner including Burnt ends, bbq beans and Black-eyed Peas. Virtually no fat what so ever on the Brisket. And the Black-eyed Peas killer wife had a Pulled-pork salad. Portions were very good. Couldn't eat another bite. Bit pricey...but the food was excellent. Hope it's always like this will definitely go again. Btw the way...didn't catch our waiters name, but a cool black-guy. Very good waiter.
Only recommendation, they carry ice-burg lettuce as a option for the salads. We personally, are not a fan of trees n bushes
Outstanding location for quality bbq. you won't be disappointed in the menu and service. the service was very friendly and kind. bring your hunger - portions are generous.
About 15 of us went to dinner last night. It was somewhat of a family/friend reunion. Our server, Owen, did a fabulous job waiting on our group. Even though, we all kept moving around and he had to keep track of who was with who, he didn't miss a beat. So polite and friendly. The food was also very good. Thanks Mojo's
Catering: WATCH YOUR LIQUOR!!! They catered our wedding in November 2018. The food and service was actually really good. Unfortunately, the servers stole all of our leftover liquor. 2 handles of Smirnoff, 2 handles of Bacardi, a handle of Evan Williams, and a handle of Patron. Very disappointed after that experience.
My goodness what amazing food. Not one thing to complain about here. Everything from top to bottom (food, service, and atmosphere) was great. Best BBQ in town.
Always so delicious Everything from salmon, burnt ends to ribs are the best. We also love the vegetables. Great southern comfort foods
Waitress was more interested in her boyfriend than our table. Other employees were clock watching.
Love the food here, my grandkids always want to go here! Service is occasionally iffy .. not bad per se, just slow. But that's only happened a couple times, clearly not often enough to prevent me returning.
In a city full of BBQ joints and restaurants, we have found this to be the best BBQ in Jax. Very consistent, good sauces, good meat, and good sides.
The server named Michelle at the university/san jose location. Was simply amazing!!!!!!!
I took a group of senior ladies to dinner and she was absolutely FABULOUS with taking her time listening and not to mention very respectful. Not something you come across much in this day and age.
Food is amazing! Fun place to eat! We had the best server ever. Michelle I think!
Amazing food as always! Also want to shout out the ladies who work at this location. They were SO sweet, friendly and exceptionally good with my six year old. Great service!
Very good food and you certainly get plenty for your money. It's an excellent value. Staff extremely pleasant and courteous.
Used to love this place, but the food quality has been going downhill for a while. You'll be rolling the dice here-- sometimes your meat will come out like youd expect, but many times your food will be dried out and hard to chew. I suspect they leave food out for long stretches of time to become so dried out, so its all about timing. In my opinion, this is totally unacceptable from an establishment that charges a premium price for their food.
My family and I decided to try out this place yesterday for dinner. My husband ordered a hamburger and fries. He always cuts his hamburgers in half when eating out to make sure their done. (Smart man!) As soon as he did blood was dripping out. It wasn't done at ALL. I ordered a pork sandwich with Mac & cheese. I almost broke my tooth on a VERY hard piece of noodle. The entire bowl was like that. It must have been sitting there for a WHILE! My two year old ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich off the Kids meal. It was pretty much a Jelly sandwich. At one point she was literally choking on the jelly. We don't get to eat out a whole lot..so to say we were very disappointed would be an understatement. We wont be back.
OMG! Amazing ! Using them for my country wedding this fall!
When we are in Jacksonville we make sure to stop in at Mojo. Authentic southern BBQ great service and atmosphere.....wish we had one closer to home it's sooooooo good!
Great food. Service was a tad bit slow but other than that great experience.
Everything is on point and it all looks and tastes great. Can't recommend enough
Best BBQ in town. We went in during the dinner hours, but it was surprisingly not packed. The food was out minutes after we ordered it and IT WAS AMAZING!!
Our waitress, Mary Joy, was the most amazing waitress anyone could ask for. Wonderful service. I will definitely be back again.
Finally got seated. Left after about 10 minutes of waiting, because no one even acknowledged us. I think every server walked past us at least three times, not one word. Dining room was not busy, and we were the only ones that had not even placed a drink order.
Fresh...and a different spin on bbq...its a fancier style?, not wet naps, Paper bibs and paper towel rolls at the table!! Although I do love rockin the paper bib while with each bite, smearing bbq sauce all up and down the sides of both corners of my mouth..
It was good, the macaroni and cheese was really delicious, the corn bread is a bit spicey, brisket is very good, smoked Turkey is good.
By far the best BBQ I've ever had. Smooth environment. Friendly staff. A must try!
Hot dog, finally got the service and respect a Prince like me deserves.
Very good Ambience service was very good and the food was delicious
Excellent location for delicious BBQ. great place to chill, get away, eat some good food. service treated us so nice. this place has a great feel to it. if it wasn't far from my work i would come by more.
Always a good meal and price is reasonable for what you get
Not sure if it's always been this skimpy but 1 sausage and 2 little cutlets of brisket for $17?! Better off getting a meal and adding meat... not a good deal for the 2 meat or even 3 meat. They try to upsell you the $5 LARGE box but you'll be at $22 for a meal...
The food is only half the reason I keep coming back. Yall have an awesome FOH staff. Keep it up
They have wonderful Burnt Ends. And naturally since we loved it so much, we bought 5 pounds of it. Money well spent
Served our drinks then sat and sat...server did not return.
This was our first time here. The atmosphere was amazing our waitress Michelle was marvelous and on point the food was great falling off the bones we will be back.
A to go order placed the hours in advance was thirty minutes late and served incomplete.
Never disappointed when I eat here. May I suggest the burnt beef ends as an appetizer or ask them to make them your entree...they are tender.
Love it! Great food, about $$ but still well worth it. Tender brisket and the north Carolina pork is delicious! Very easy to eat low carb here. Chili is awesome!
This place was on point. One of only a handful of places opened! new years day, so we tried it. Wow what a great find. Food was good but the sauces where the secret was. Give this place a try
