Mizu Steak and Sushi Review

Been a neighborhood classic for a few years already. Has had it's lows and highs. In my book

Food was good. Service was okay, large parties 5 or more, auto gratuities are applied automatically to the bill; which is fine....however make sure you look at detail receipt before signing. fill in gratuities is the first thing you see and you could easily double tip if your not paying attention. 18% automatic could easily be 40% or more you may regret later....

Had the Hitachi, one of my favorites because it's pretty generous! Large portions.

As a Kobe's connoisseur it's hard to have hibachi and not compare. However, for the value at lunch and the genuine effort of the chefs, mizu is worth it. If your expecting the same ginger dressing on the salad as Kobe's has, just order your salad and ask for the ginger sauce they use for the meal instead of the one they use as the salad dressing. Just my suggestion since I dislike the mayo/ranch gingery stuff all these type places serve...

We had the worst possible meal at this restaurant. We are vegan and we ordered the tofu teriyaki dish. It was tasteless and deep fried with something that the tofu stuck all together...it was inedible. Hardly any veggies served with this. The miso soup must have come out of a package as it was also flavorless and the salad was just lettuce. They wanted to charge us for a meal we couldn't consume. With some grumbling they decided to charge us for one meal which cost us 26.00 for two meals not consumed. Will never go back there again.

Good food. Was my daughter and grandson and he loves the mushroom soup and he's only 6. Chef was very personable.

As we came in the place looked clean, the hostest was very friendly and smiley. We sat down and were taken care of quickly. Our server was very friendly as well and was very quick with her service. She brought our drinks and our apps took about 5min-10min. We ordered the bento lunch box and it was delicious, the only thing is that the waitress did not inform us that the bento dough everything that we had ordered as apps. It would have been even more expensive. Our food itself took less than 20min. So all in all everything was super nice. I will visit again and try the hibachi next, looked fun!!

Delicious! Party of 4 got seated quickly and were on our way to eating in no time! Our hibachi chef was very entertaining. So much fun!

The hibachi chef was so friendly and entertaining. He interacted with everyone, sang and even engaged my daughter in conversation. The tonkatsu was phenomenal, and I also had Japanese soda. Absolutely will be back.

Hibachi cooking is fun to watch but they want at lready fine people seated at the burners before they will even acknowledge you. Two people were at the when we were seated but they soon left. We waited almost 45 minutes at the table before another party was seated with us. We were freezing in the restaurant and were preparing to leave. The food was not the best, neither was the cook's performance. Will not return unless I'm with a larger party.

Jonathan was my server and did an amazing job. Food was great I will definitely go back. Especially to sit with Jonathan again very funny and fast. Great job.

The Mexican Roll is so good! I filled up on that. Be careful when they box any food you want to take home. He slopped it all in together and ruined it.

Stopped in for lunch. Had Habachi lunch special. Good meal.

All around good food and great service. The sushi is also very delicious and fresh. They have soy paper to substitute.

Terrible sushi - the minute I put it in my mouth I knew it was going to be bad. The rice was not sushi rice and that is key to good sushi. Good place for your average American, but steer clear if you want good authentic sushi.

This place is AMAZING!!!! You have to request Stanley/Oo. He was by far the best hibachi chef I have ever had!!!! The food was good too. Oh and all the free saki shots that were actually shot into your mouth.
Bring a DD...The kids had a blast too.

Server never explain portion can be share (kids). But since they get the tips due to is a big group I guess is better for them.

The food was great but the fast service was even better

We arrived as a group of 6 and were added to an existing group of 2. The group of 2 didn't get their salads at the same time we did. Then when the chef arrived he made the food with very little flair. We asked about some of the usual tricks (onion tower, etc) and he would look and point to the group member with an onion sensitivity like it was all his fault (even though he served him his food already). I was brought lemonde that tasted like lemon dishwater. My dinner partner asked for chopsticks at least 3 times, me and another member decided after two requests we'd just make do with the fork. To add further insult to injury, the chef went to another table across the room and was 100 times more animated. He was joking, laughing, doing tricks, etc. We were sorely disappointed. I also recommend that groups check their bill carefully. I know restaurants typically add a higher gratuity for large groups, but they then added a line for tip in the check. I've been around service industry people before, so I understand the tip thing, but the two stars was for the terribly lackluster performance by our chef. I wouldn't eat here again.

Nothing special and pricey!
Sashimi are really expensive a la cart $6 and up (2pcs). i ordered the following:
1) Tuna tataki - so so. give it an3-star
2) Pan fried noodle with seafood - taste sub par 2-star
3) beef negimaki - subpar also- 2-star
In addition, i asked for japanese ramen but they don't have, very disappointed.
For the foods, I would give it a 2-star but considering the lacks of competition in the area and clean looks and good service, I bumped it to a 3-star. Sorry, soCal japanese foods are so much better.
Would i come back? No.

The food is always amazing. We usually always get it to go, but when I do my order is always correct and on time.

The food was great, the wait staff was pleasant, and the restaurant itself was beautiful. My one complaint is that the bathrooms were not well kept. I highly recommend the Godzilla roll.

Ok. The waitress made a mistake and brought us shrimp instead of chicken. When we told her she took the shrimp off our plate unto another plate and took it back to the kitchen. I wonder.... are they going to serve it to another customer?.

Have to say, most of the reviewers apparently don't know what a good Japanese steak house even is... After receiving the Hibachi Filet & Lobster I ordered, I noted that about 1/3rd of my plate was filled with Chinese noodles. That was the most immediate giveaway that something was wrong here. The salad came with watered down ginger salad dressing which is also cheap Chinese trick. The servings of filet and lobster were smallish, the fried rice was actually steamed but mixed with something to make it look fried and contained no egg or vegetables. My Hibachi vegetables had the taste and texture of something coming from a Chinese Buffet. My steak was doused with diced garlic and on and on and on. Finally I had to ask the waiter who owns this place and he confessed it was Chinese owned. Ughhh.. paid all that money for Chinese buffet food. :( It wasn't horrible but it was not up to the standard of any real Japanese steak house.

Great place. I eat there once a week at least. Sushi is top notch always.

The sushi was just fine. Then I had the Hibachi menu; the beef was quite small in terms of quantity and mediocre in quality, the lobster was musty and poor. Everything covered with way too much pasta and rice.

Food always good and usually so is the service, but tonight, service was horrible

Our first visit. We had the Teriyaki Beef and Sushi Dinner Bento Box and the Hibachi Salmon Dinner - absolutely delicious, with enough leftovers for another meal at home. Looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing service. Scott was very efficient and kept everything light. He was a ninja clearing things from the table. The food was delicious. Jackie kept everything in the grill until it was all done so all the good was hot and tasty. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

It was our first time to visit this place and I think this is a decent place
The sushi was fresh and my sashimi order had big chunks!
We were treated same as everyone else and other places so we had no problem with the staff
I recommend this place to sushi lovers
