I have been taking my car to Friendly Car Care fo years. Always great service and dependable. They have given me rides when I needed them and are very honest people. They will give me options to fit my budget. Me and my husband both love this place and they definitely live up to their name. I trust them completely and can't say enough good things about Friendly.

Basically if you're like me and know sh*t about cars and are constantly worried about getting ripped off then this is a great place to go. They lay everything out for you as far as what is wrong with your car with no pressure to immediately agree to anything. After paying a 80$ diagonostics fee at Honda Service Center just to find out that I have a couple oil leaks which would cost $1400 to repair I took it into Friendly Car Care who diagnosed it for free and only charged me $180 for the repair. To be more specific Honda wanted to fix two oil "leaks" but Friendly said only one was really a problem and fixed it for less then half of what Honda wanted to. It is such a relief to find a place I can trust to bring my car to.

Craig, the owner is as good as they come. He has always been 100% honest and transparent with every visit, even when it costed them profit on my repair. They treated me right, even when the repair turned out to be more difficult than initially expected. For my convenience, Craig even paid for a rental car for me and my family since the repairs were taking longer than expected due to some hard-to-get parts. When I didn't have a copy of my insurance with me to rent a car under my name, he even put down his personal license as the guarantor. These guys have 5 stars for integrity alone, not to mention insane customer service. They treat people right and really are "Friendly!"

Take anything other than an oil change to another shop. Over $1000 lost with four visits. After I gave up with Friendly, the dealer finished what should have been a routine fuel pump replacement in one visit. Friendly also broke seat mount brackets in the process, which they did not replace.

Not only did they answer ALL our questions (we had many, we're auto-idiots!), they really gave us the attention we needed to put our minds at ease through a lengthy & possibly expensive repair. They gave us a better rate than two other places we tried first. Since our major repair, we visited again just to get information on a little fix-it, and they are always super helpful. Plus, they answer me on Twitter! Thanks Friendly Car Care, you have customers for life!

I've had limited experience with Friendly Auto but it has always been first class. I took my truck in and the first time they found something else wrong while my initial issue was being addressed. I was given options on how I could fix my issue which made me very happy. I wasn't just handed a huge estimate that said; this is what it will cost to fix your truck. The second time I went I was sure I had a specific problem which was bothering me because I knew it would be costly to repair. To my amazement I was told it was something minor and the cost to repair was minimal. It is difficult these days to find an auto repair shop that will actually; (1) find the exact problem (2) give options, if there are any, as to the best way to resolve it (3) stand behind everything they do. Gregg and his crew are truly exceptional people, knowledgeable in their trade and fair and honest in their service. Do yourself a favor and save both time and money, just go to Friendly Auto.

Aug 2017: My daughter and I just took a 1500 mile trip in her 2010 Honda Fit. Greg & Chris went through it ensuring that it was in good running condition. She lives in a diff state from me. It's great to know that honest ppl are around to watch out for your family when you are not close by. Thank you for your continued support and honesty.

We were unaware that the Transmission Fluid needs to be changed every 3 years. I thought the filter needed to be changed, too (I'm old school) so that was a savings to us. Thanks for checking her car over, too.

Extremely overpriced, everyone knows it pays to shop around. now there's no doubt they're good mechanics but just as good at ripping you off. if you're made of money this is the perfect place for you.

I replaced the cam sensor due to a P0340 error but it still stalled. I took it to Friendly's and they recommended to check the oil first - sure enough it was low but it didn't fix. I finally brought it in and they determined it was the cam pigtail. They didn't have the part so we worked together to find one. They also inspected my radiator and saw a fan plug was disconnected. The labor and time were reasonable, and I was 100% sure they fixed the problem. Highly recommend.

However, I made an appointment for an oil and air filter change and was quoted ~$50 and 45 minutes. Somehow my desire for an air filter change did not get communicated and I ended up spending ~$70 and 2.5 hours.

While under there, they adjusted other stuff they noticed needed attention - comp. I could tell the difference. And advised me of future concerns. I've never called mechanics warm & fuzzy. How about grease and grins...

EDIT: I would like to note that their customer service is/was great, and had no influence on the original review. they contacted us within 30 minutes or so of this review being posted. They were concerned on the miscommunication originally, and offered to refund the amount that was cause of the confusion, and did so immediately while on the phone. I greatly appreciate their honesty and outstanding customer service. Will now be referring others to their shop.

We are in Austin for work, and started having issues with our vehicle. They quoted a $120 diagnostic fee, which we said never mind to. Luckily the owner was in, and offered to take a look for free. He told us it needed a throttle body clean and idle relearn, and told us to stop and get an air filter for them to put in after the throttle body clean. Told us to bring it back tomorrow (today), and when asked what cost would be, he told us it would be $50-$60, $100 at most. I told my boyfriend I d do it myself, but he insisted on taking it there having had a good interaction with the owner yesterday. We take it in this morning, and after waiting 3-4 hours for the quoted 30-45 minutes of work, we were charged $239.15. Highly disappointed in our encounter, as they could have advised us the ACTUAL cost, considering we mentioned the quote from the owner upon arrival.

I have a 2009 PT Cruiser that wouldn't startup her battery died while I was at work on Friday October 30. I googled friendly car care; after walking past the establishment multiple times, when I didn't own a vehicle. I spoke with Mr. Michael Finley told him the issue; he asked if I had AAA or a tow company in mind that I like to use. I called him back I asked what toe company he would recommend. I offered a tow company who friendly car care partners with. I used them to tow my vehicle into the shop. Within a day's work time Rosa, (my PT cruiser) had a new starter, new oil and back on the road again. I highly recommend Friendly Car Care for future repair needs.

They discovered a major issue and helped me figure out that it was still under warranty with the car manufacturer that led to major work being done for very little money. I won't take my vehicle anywhere else. They gave me a credit a year ago because they found they overcharged me for a part ($16) the year before. I also had them take a look at my AC/heat the last time I took my car in for an oil change and they told me they had made a mistake on a repair to the AC over the summer (something minor, the AC would occasionally go out), so they fixed it without charging me. Had these instances happened at other shops, I am certain I would not be made aware of the shop's mistakes and I am sure I would have been charged for their mistakes. We are all human and everyone makes mistakes. Why I will continue to bring my car to Friendly Car Care is because of their honesty and how they treat their customers with respect.

I love this place. We bring all the fleet trucks for our store in here and even our personal vehicles. In the past when I have called Greg the owner with questions he answers them honestly and I feel good about the answers I get. The work on our trucks has been great, and I know they stand behind it. you really can't ask for much more. Good work at a fair price.

The staff at Friendly Car Care did an excellent job with my trip inspection. I asked if they could clean the inside of my windshield, but the guy at the counter didn't think they had any cleaner. I was in and out in 45 minutes and they found some cleaner and cleaned that hard-to-remove film from my windshield. I highly recommend FCC.

I've visited Friendly Car Care dozens of times over the last few years.
I've taken my two vehicles there, two company vehicles, and recommended them to friends and family alike.
They team here is always top notch. I'm always well aware of, and in control of, any service and or decisions being made about the vehicles, before i'm ever charged. i often receive courtesy calls, reviewing what options i have, how they might impact the vehicle, what they cost (and why). I've never been forced to purchase a service with them. i often receive e-mails with estimates and price break downs. I've been encouraged, when they had a supporting reason to do so. sometimes when i'm in the shop and have a questions, they'll help me refer to a technical document that sheds more light on an issue. -- like when i went in for my 75K miles check up and asked about my timing belt, only to have them bring up the specs on my vehicle and find that no adjustment was needed because i had a timing chain. i was ignorant of this prior to them looking it up, and it would have been an easy charge for them to add on. (i was literally asking for it) But, they did not. they fact-checked for me, as they normally do and help me chose whats best for my vehicle and budget. These guys are top notch. 10 out of 10.

I brought my car in to fix some brake issue. Friendly Car Care gave me a quote of $3200 to replace a bunch of things. I took my car to another place, I spent $120 to replace a set of brake pads and solved the problem. 6 month and 9k miles later, no problem at all. Never trust Friendly car care!

I live up North in Round Rock, but Friendly Car Care is on my way to work, thank goodness. The has always been very nice, and they give me a complimentary car ride to work every time I drop my car off. I was quoted two thousand dollars to fix my AC compressor and condenser by the GMC dealer, so I took it here for a second opinion. They said it was only the condenser, and charged me 600. AC has been working great. There was an issue with me wheel well being put back incorrectly, and it fell off when I was driving down the freeway, but i called right away, and they completely fixed it the next day at no charge. I will definitely keep going to Friendly Car Care.

Friendly Car Care has treated me very well under both the original owner and the current owner. They know who I am by name, they are friendly and courteous, they are thorough, and they are willing to show me exactly what is going on with my vehicle so I can make the best decision on how to proceed with repairs (whether to go ahead and get them done, or wait until they are truly necessary). I believe they are also priced fairly. I would recommend Friendly Car Care to anyone.

Screwed up work on my car, refused to fix it, refused to issue even a partial refund. I've added some details because the manager decided to reply.

EDIT: Well, since the manager is here getting his facts wrong yet again, I'll address the issue in more detail - the skid plate came loose literally within ten minutes of pulling out of his parking lot on Saturday afternoon, not while I was on my trip, and it was *much* worse than it was when I brought it into the shop. Whatever they did changed the problem from "minor annoyance" to "almost undriveable."

His mechanics had the car for five hours but waited until the last minute to do the repair, so when I called them five minutes after it happened, no one was there to answer. I had to find another mechanic who was open late on a weekend afternoon and wait another two hours to have the problem fixed.

Yes, I asked for a refund on some of my other work as compensation for the inconvenience. I was told no. Not "we understand that this is a hassle, but we can't comp the full diagnostic cost. How about 30%?" Just nothing.

The manager, Greg, grabbed the phone from his employee and was yelling at me within literally thirty seconds after he called me back about the complaint. He insisted that the repair happened late on a Thursday (I brought the car in on Saturday morning), claimed initially that I only asked to have the skid plate fixed (I had called them three days before the "repair" and told them about all four issues), and would not stop talking over me long enough for me to correct him. The employee I worked with could have told him all of this if he'd asked. He didn't bother to get the facts before he lost his temper, and he didn't even apologize for the error.

I didn't threaten to leave bad reviews about his business. I called back after he hung up on me and told his employee that I was going to let people know about the poor service I received. Greg refused to come back to the phone after he hung up in a huff, but apparently his employee delivered my message.

No wonder he doesn't want my business - I actually expect him to make it right when his shop screws up. Ask yourself if *you* want to deal with someone like this. I don't. I'd prefer someone who stands behind their work, even when it's something small that they do "as a courtesy."

The guys who ARE Friendly Car Care are simply magnificent! After failing my state inspection I drove across the street very frustrated and kind of sick to my stomach. I had repairs done on my car in December by another car repair shop who really took advantage of my lack of knowledge about cars (an expensive lesson), so I had a bitter taste in my mouth when it comes to trusting automotive repair shops. My frustration walked in the door with me it could have been the same situation here...except Gregg the owner took me behind the counter and showed me EXACTLY on his computer why my car failed my inspection test. He explained in detail what needed to be done to fix the issue keeping me from passing my state inspection, then he showed me what was very workable as to the high side and the low side of what I could expect my repairs to run. His attitude and his willingness to not only educate me on my car repairs, but he really gave me reason to trust his company. A good reputation is golden when it comes to a successful business and Gregg assured me he and his people would take good care of my budget and my issue.
I made my appointment and put my car and my finances into his hands.

Gregg, Michael, and the very excellent technician Ryan who worked miracles on my car were BEYOND professional and fair. I am so well pleased with how I was treated as a customer, by their dedication and willingness to make my car right in a very seamless time frame, and am a witness to the fruits of a business run with excellence. Friendly Car Care is the ONLY place I will ever bring my car to after today's exceptional service! I don't know why I have seen a few negative reviews on here because I couldn't have asked for a more professional team of service people who stand behind their work and their reputation, and who go all out to please their customers. I am one happy customer!!!

My daughter was stranded in Austin with an overheating car about 200 miles from home. I was fortunate enough to find Friendly on my phone from Houston, and after 5 minutes with the manager I sent her over. They diagnosed the problem, gave me a fair estimate, and then one of the shop guys offered to stay late on Saturday to get it done so she could head back to school on Sunday. Repairs were done, she is back home, and the final price was a little below the estimate.
Good quality folks run this place - they very easily could have taken advantage of the situation but didn't.

I purchased a coupon that requires mutiple visits to receive all the discounts and free auto service for friendly car care. Once I had used the coupon enough times to get my free oil change, the NEW owner said he wouldnt honor it because of some story about how he wasnt making money on these coupons. I couldnt beleive he wanted to loose my lifetime business for the amount he was loosing out of pocket for an oil change, free battery test and a free wiper blade wow. He even through the coupon away and said it wasnt valid multiple times. Even though i wanted it for evidence on THIS review. Dont go here for service please they do bad business.

My wife and I have been pleased with the service we receive at Friendly. It took a few visits to identify a fuel pump problem, but were not charged untilt he actual repair was made. We took advantage of the discount card/coupon offer with the previous owner, and we saved quite a bit over the course of the term of that offer. I would recommend them to friends and family.

Came in on the first real cold day of fall because my tire pressure warning light came on, while I was on my way to work.
Decided to fill up on my break but the air tire machine at the 7/11, right next door, was backed up about 3 cars.
I looked up this place, as I could see it right across the parking lot, and was happy to see a lot of good reviews.
I popped in real quick and the person at the counter had me pull up my car immediately and within 3 minutes my tires were filled ($0) and I was able to go about my day!!
This honestly made my day, thank you for the amazing service!!

This place is a total rip off!!! I was Charged $25.00 for putting in a battery that I told them I disconnected because something kept draining it. The very reason I brought the car to them. They charged me fir the diagnostic and repair a couple of hundred bucks. The repair was pulling a fuse for the radio amp!!, but I ended up having to bring the car back to them for the same issue and they charged me again for another diagnostic. this place will nickel and dime you to death if you let them. Save yourself some money and go someplace else.

I can not say enough good things about these guys! I recently had someone hit my van over night and after multiple mechanics including the ford dealership could not fix it, these guys went above and beyond to find out what the problem was. I may have even been a bit of a pain in the a** due to it being my company vehicle because I was worried about the safety part of the way it was driving. Again they went over everything with a fine tooth comb and even worked with the insurance company.

I can not thank Greg, Matt, Michael and their technitions enough!! I will not trust any other company with my company vehicles or personal!! Thanks again for all the hard work guys!!!

I hate going to auto shops because I never get direct answers to my questions and leave feeling like I don t really understand what was done to fix my vehicle. I have a restored 89 Jeep and I wouldn't trust anyone else in town with it besides the folks at Friendly Car Care. They have always given me a great price and been super helpful. I like that they will give me a priority list of things to repair on my old car. They don't insist everything has to be done at once just to pad the bill. Greg and the rest of the guys are seriously the nicest group of people! I've been in Austin for almost 9 years and did not have a car place I trusted. It was very stressful having to find a place every time something was wrong with my car. Well ladies and gents, that changed today! I have so much respect for this place bc they respect their customers. They're super honest and don't try to upsale you on things you don't need immediately. I seriously can't say enough. They're angels. Plus, I love when I can support a family owned small business :) I whole heartedly recommend this place!!!!
