I really enjoy the falaf salad. Lots of vegan options and topping choices, which I love. The line can get long during the lunch hour but it moves really quickly. This location in particular is similar to most others in the city, nothing really stands out.

I'm not much of a salad person. Or, rather, I'm not much of a "let me buy a salad for lunch" kind of person, so I've avoided places like Mixt Greens for, well, pretty much ever. Having binged a little too much on rich (literally and figuratively) food for too long though, I actually agreed to dropping by the last time my coworker suggested the place.
Working my way through the expected lunch crush, which wasn't so bad since the line moved quickly, I ended up ordering their Orchard salad, with dressing on the side. And, how was it? Enjoyable, for sure. Something I'd order again? Yeah, if I were in the mood. A place I'd frequent? Nah, definitely not. Something about paying ten bucks for a salad on the daily, when I could have a fully prepared hot meal instead just rubs me the wrong way.
***Accessibility Info***
Venue - Their main entrance has a couple steps, and is not at all accessible. However, there's an accessible entrance through the building to the right, which brings you in through their back entrance. During lunch hours, it can be pretty crowded, so you'll have to maneuver through the throng, to get to the end of the line (or, you know, be a jerk and cut).
I used to love coming here for a quick & healthy lunch. Unfortunately today I picked up my Elote salad and bit into an actual RUSTED SCREW in one of my bites. Yes, my salad had a rusted screw in it. . Luckily I did not break any teeth or cut the inside of my mouth. This raises serious questions about the health standards of this location.
This place is great. Go-to for lunch, but get there earlier than later to avoid the line (there is a reason there is a line though, it's damn good).
Sandwiches are all killer. Ingredients are really good. Service is great. Seasonal items are worth exploring (Gaucho = one of the best salads on earth).
Always a great place for a salad! I usually get the one from the list, but the options to create your own are limitless. A bit pricey, but that's SF for you.
First of all, can I just admit that I come here 30% of the time just so that I can be in the financial district?! Yeah, I'm a sucker for that sorta thing. But BESIDES that, I'm also a major fan of salad bars. College made me a super salad fan and all the fresh ingredients that Mixt Greens offers is sure to excite your palate! (The portions, btw...ASTRONOMICAL). Warning! The place is small and it's best to get your salad to-go.
Corporate needs to audit the Oakland location; everybody has a job but at the same time everybody has a job, no excuse for lack of managerial leadership, lackluster customer service, & longer than usual wait times. For a respectable brand, step your game up Oakland location.
Salads are excellent here. Long lines (because salads are good). Seating is limited, noisy inside. Online orders hard to do, but a go-to for tasty lunch.
Beetnik salad with chicken is my fav. Best part of this place is you can order online, pay and forgo the HUGE lunch line with the grab-and-go. So easy!
I can tell you what I order, it is out of this world! Get romaine lettuce, put cranberries, walnuts, golden beets, goat cheese, eggs, parmesan and avocado on it. Avocado extra but worth it. I put bacon on it, sometimes chicken and bacon. Sometimes I don't even put dressing on it. (Especially since they discontinued my favorite dressing. Lemon juice and olive oil is quite wonderful though if you really want something on it.) It is still out of this world.
Oh mixt greens, you give me mixed feelings! They definitely use fresh high quality ingredients for their salads but I still can't process the thought of paying $10+ for a salad! I will say that this place definitely beats all the other salad bars in the financial district though. You can custom order your salad with a variety of organic toppings or go with one of their salads off the menu - nice that you get to watch your salad made and tossed right in front of you.
Arrive a little before noon to beat the lunch crowds!
A tad pricey? Yes. But the salads are are really good. Customizable to your liking and comes in a big box. TRY THE MADISON. Line may look long sometimes but they are really fast.
Pros: They have about as good a selection as you're ever going to find at a salad bar place. I really like the way they put their salads together: greens (mixed, iceberg, butter, spinach, kale), staples (croutons, beets, cheeses, carrots, etc), premiums (candied walnuts, mushrooms, etc), and protein (chicken, salmon, tuna, turkey, steak). They have a good variety of dressings, and everything seems to be really high quality.
Cons: It's a little on the spendy side, but the biggest problem is the line. Good lord, the line. It can seriously take 30 minutes just to get in and out of this place. Is any salad really worth 30 minutes?
Ultimately I really like this place and I want to go again, but it's one of those places where you have to be strategic or lose most of your lunch break to the line game.
Great spot for an appetite of any size. Definitely worth going back to. The bill was good for how much you get. They have a lot of positive reviews for a reason.
Get here right when they open to avoid the long lines and design your own fabulous fresh salad from the millions of options.
If you can't get here early, they do have a cooler near the front door with some pre-made salads and then you can cut the "make salad" line and head straight to the register.
Sometimes the salad makers don't seem to understand when I say "very light" dressing, but that's a minor quibble.
Mixt Greens is one of healthiest and tastiest options for lunch in downtown SF. They are a regular rotation for catering options (at least 1/week), and remains a constant hit and fave of the office. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
Props to the Sansome team for consistently providing great service both in-house and delivery.
This is my go-to place for lunch. I eat elsewhere, but not very often.. Salads are big, ingredients are fresh and universally of excellent quality. They are not cheap, but you do get an impressive amount of salad for your $10 - $12 lunch.
Pro tip - if you don't want to wait in line get there before 11:30 or after 2 pm and all is good. If you want a quick salad during prime time, there's almost always pre-made salads boxed in the front cooler by the drinks.
Amazing food! After 9 days visiting California, I was wondering when I would have a meal that blew me away. I didn't expect it to be from a sandwich shop, but this place was a real treat! The four of us each got something different and we all LOVED our selections. We ordered takeout, so I can't comment on ambiance or service, but I promise their sandwiches are some of the best out there!
Seriously, I'm addicted. The salads here are better than any I have had at any other salad shop. This location has nice outdoor seating in the alley. Mixt Greens is the place to go for a healthy lunch in the city. Yum!
As much as I hate paying $15 for a salad, if you're going to do it, this is the place. They have a large number of options for both rice bowls and salads, many of them incorporating local and seasonal ingredients. If you go at peak lunch hours, expect a long line, but don't worry, it moves pretty quickly. If you want a delicious, fresh salad that you don't mind paying a little extra for, check this place out.
This place will surprise you. Looking forward to returning with my friends. Prices are reasonable I would say. Atmosphere and food reminds me of Virginia Beach.
IMixt is kinda like the chain sweetgreen (which I absolutely loved and frequently back in NYC). I tried their Caesar salad with chicken and was not pleased as I thought it was very standard for the price.
Solid make-your-own salad spot. Spending $12-16 on lunch is pretty much the norm in downtown SF nowadays, so not really sure why there are complaints about the price here. Long line, but it moved very quickly. Overall positive experience.
I often get Mixt Greens and the Plant confused but the big differentiator is Mixt Greens is mostly known for the salads, the Plant has more of a full menu.
You can either pick your toppings (all organic ingredients) or choose one of their presets. My favorite is the Cowboy - bacon, roast chicken, butter lettuce with ranch dressing. Tip - don't go to the ones downtown during the lunchtime rush M-F or at least try to get their before noon or you'll wait.
Interesting place and concept on the salad making process. You will love it if you want to choose everything single thing that goes in your salad as it has a lot of options for every single step of the salad making process. I found it to be a little pricey (but I am not from SFO) although the portion size was quite healthy and I could not finish it. I would have preferred some preset options which make life easier for people instead of ending to choose a weird combo.
Excellent Salad. They make the experience fun with good atmosphere and quick salad construction in front of you. I felt this was a filling lunch for a salad good components. I could use a little more quinoa and avocado, but really who couldn't?
The place itself is really clean and has good service. Food is fresh and as the name implies it is healthy. A lot of variety but do avoid during lunch as lines can be long
Great salad restaurant, their seasonal bowls and salads are delicious and the staff is great and helping you decide and offering suggestions based on what you like.
It's about $17 for a regular chicken ceasar salad. You're only allowed 1 substitution, if you do a 2nd one, they will charge you an extra $1! Even if your substituting a small amount of one cheese for another cheese.
Think about that for a second: for a $17 salad(!!), you have to pay extra to make a substitution. These people should be arrested.
Had my first salad made incorrectly and my second salad seemed to get overdressed as revenge. Completely inedible $16 salad due to the amount of dressing. Feel like I need some more salad for my balsamic.
