The fair can't be open but Walmart can with thousands of people walking side-by-side.
The fair can't be open but Walmart can with thousands of people walking side-by-side.
Tons of food & people - the greatest spectacle on earth
Always a great experience! Great food of all kinds, over 25 different craft beers. The crowds are huge so it can sometimes take a while but I go every year and have a great time!
I had tons of fun. State fair is a must visit each year. I love garlic fries the most
Dino's Gyros was great. Molly B and the squeeze box was great
OMG. GREATEST DAY EVER GOT TO HEAR AND SEE MY FAVORITE GROUP OF ALL TIME WITH MY POT SPOT FAMILY
Fun place for everyone. Great food and lots of activities.
So Dhaka largest state fair and they United States great and are not family I turn tainment
The great Minnesota get together is truly a grand experience. Once you figure out parking (which absolutely sucks, so I suggest talking only one car or better yet none at all), you'll be set back in time a little bit to a true fair with street vendors, performers, and all sorts of day long entertainment. Where walking shoes!
Our State Fair is the best state fair!! Wouldn't miss it!!
A great time for all ages. Don't miss this one next year.
An absolute must visit for any state fair goer, great activities, new food every year!!
One of the best summer vacation places before school starts. This is great to come for a food Smorgasbord & people watching. Also going to see the animals & look at different products out there. Great entertainment too! Great rides if that's what your looking for. It is an fun place to come. Take your time walk a little look around or sit down rest & people watch. It's fun!!
I have only missed 1 or 2 years at the fair in my whole 22 year existence! I love it so much. This year I went on the first day (Thrursday, August 23rd 2018) and on Friday, August 31st 2018 in the evening and both were wonderful and different experiences. I was so happy to be a part of the record-breaking first day this year. Even though there was apparently more than 120k people on the 23rd, it hardly felt like it. Lines went quickly and we were able to easily maneuver around all parts of the fair. I tried some new foods such as pepperoni chips from Lulu's Public House and Za-Waffle Sticks from Green Mill, but my absolute favorite was the Nordic Waffles! I got Berries and Cream, and it was so good I got it again when I went on Friday the 31st! I'm getting hungry just writing this review. I feel very lucky that we have such an awesome get-together right here in MN, and I look forward to it every year! HUGE thanks to all the staff that make this possible year after year, keep up the awesome work! Especially the *FREE* Park & Ride system, seriously a life-saver for someone who lives quite a ways out of the city! 5 stars every year for all!!!!!!!!
Love coming to the fair every year, always a great time and love trying out all the new foods and snacks. Kids love all the rides and games and just exploring everything the fair has to offer. We love going to the miracle of birth area to see all the very tiny and cute babies it's one of our favorite things to do.
Who doesn t love the Minnesota State Fair!?! I have friends that travel from other states (and Canada) to visit the fair. From the butter sculptures to the agriculture building it is a spectacular event that gives a taste of Minnesota to every visitor.
First year living in Minnesota and my first fair....wow! Coming from the already pathetic NYS Fair, Minnesota far surpasses all expectations! Amazing people, amazing food selection and the amount of things to see and do is endless! Can't wait for the years to come!
It's a celebration of obesity and sickness. I will give it two stars because people getting together is nice. I can't get down with the lack of healthy options.
I really like the fair but my visit this year in 2019 went downhill. There is inflation everywhere this year. Parking used to be at $10 but now it's at $20. All the food stands have risen their prices to a dollar or more than last year. Some food stands have also lost their good taste and quality. Many of the shops started closing early by 8 and 9 and they cut down time on the firework show, it's 5 minutes now and starts at 9:30 rather than 10. The fair has been really been going downhill now, I don't know if I'm going to return next year.
We have gone twice to the fair and once to the "Back To The 50's" car show. It was an awesome time, every time. Looking forward to returning this year again.
Wear comfortable shoes ! Lots of food to please every palate, lots of free give aways, and bargains,
Yesssss!! Best state fair I have ever been to. My parents started bringing me and my siblings every year since I was born! My sister moved to TX and she still thinks the MN State Fair trumps it! The people watching is fun and stuffing your face with pronto pups and pork chops is always a win! All the local brews, and the Yee Old Mill can be fun if you make it fun (rock the boat)! The grandstand always has great entertainment. Firework show, and newly added this year a laser light show projected on all the trees and on the MN State Fair water tower! Also great for work outings!
While the state fair is fun it's become overcrowded. There just isn't anywhere to really breathe or sit or enjoy without 500 other people jamming themselves against you. Large businesses like Martha's Cookie's need to figure out how to get their customers to que without obstructing the entire road.
Phenomenal time. Great free concerts, great food, fantastic SkyRide, so many wonderful events, vendors, rides. Take the Park & Ride to the fair. It's free and easy. Check out the fair online for all the info and plan a perfect trip.
So many different and new foods on a stick to try I had my first taste of gumbo fries here delicious.
Lots of new changes this year! I love all the new and exciting stuff they are doing instead of the same old same old.
Always a Great Time, Live Music, Good Friends and a Fantastic Way to Celebrate Another Year of Life on the Planet We Call Earth. Hope to See Y all Next Year?
The food!!! Go several times a year to try new foods and have fun with friends. Get the coupon book if you buy just two things it's worth the cost, especially if sharing with friends.
Had an awesome time. I definitely recommend the Ferris Wheel
Best fair in the world. Be sure to get the fried alligator.
This is a yearly tradition that we love and wouldn't miss. Every year there are new exhibits and foods. It's just the best source of cheap entertainment.
Love, love, LOVE the MN State Fair! We usually go once a year due to work schedules, but make it a whole day. Every year we'd park in the Machinery hill lot, and walk South to get to everything else. Giggles and our favorite corndog stand across from the Pet building are our first eats. I now have some mobility issues, so I was worried about all that walking. Well, we lucked out, found a FREE park&ride and got dropped off right at the West gate! We are doing this every year from now on!
So we spent more time seeing the sights on the South end this year, nice change. Even on a record crowd day, it wasn't bad walking around outside. We tried cream puffs, grilled shrimp, strawberry shortcake, cheese curds, corn dog; everything was great.
Buy tickets at Cub Foods before the fair starts like we did, more money for food. And definitely buy the coupon book; we basically ate foods that had coupons. There's a map, an index and diagrams on the back of each coupon where the vendor is located. The map zones helped too, and participating vendors display that they are in the coupon book.
We got a tip from a few people to buy the souvenir bottles, refills are $2-3, and you can use previous years bottles too! We handed out several coupons to people standing in food and ride lines, we weren't going to use anyways, and we loved the smiles & helping others to save some money!
First time ever going to a state fair and let me tell ya it won't be my last. I had a blast, if you enjoy fried food you will find your self in heven cause you can find anything from chicken to icecream and more. So be ready for a good time and a hole in your wallet cause it gets pricey at times but portions are usually generous.
Visited the Fairgrounds to check out the snow sculptures and sled hill. We were really impressed with the sculptures and had a blast sledding, which I haven't done in 20 years! Other than that, there wasn't much else out here. Snow golf was offered, but we didn't try that out.
Awsome time. The Minnesota state fair is a must for everyone. So much to see. The food is delicious.
One of my favorite times of the year. So much to see and do. Expensive and overly crowded? Yup. But that's to be expected at the great Minnesota get together.
There is so much to see and do! You have a huge variety of food choices, would totally recommend Sweet Martha's Cookies! The only downer is that there are SO many people, but that is to be expected.
I enjoyed the exhibits: birthing of a calf in the birthing center and piglets, the fine arts exhibit had real talent, the ECO center had excellent tips for conservation of resources; the food options were varied and delicious with my favorite being Turkish Pizza; the draft horse competition demonstrated the beauty of these gentle giants but also the functional aspects of their contribution to tasks. They actually are working horses in a lot places; we also enjoyed the music venues in the evenings we attended.
One of the things that impressed me the most was their bicycle storage lot. Very nice, very convenient and very well run. The security/traffic control staff were not only very efficient, but courteous and friendly. Very nice experience.
Best fair in the country. Best booth is the FinnSisu Finnleo Sauna booth in Home Improvement Building.
Love going always stuff to do but is very expensive. Make sure you have plenty of cash. Games and rides only take tickets which you go through fast, especially if you have 3 kids not many rides for tots. Our 5 and 7 year old were able to ride most of the kid rides and some adult. We love going when we can. Friendly have to get Martha's cookies though. That's a must.
Had a wonderful time this year! From the deep fried Oreos to the roasted corn, the homemade fries to Martha s Cookies!! Yummmyyy! Even walked 25k steps! Went twice in one day!
Not much our child could eat since everything was almost dipped in egg. Not a good place for a egg allergy.
Huge crowds and amazing food. No matter how many times you've been there you'll never get bored.
Have been a regular fair goer for years but this place is getting way too expensive! $15 tickets, $9 for a pork chop, $2 for a glass of milk??!?! I will find other ways to spend my money. This place is always a mess as there just isn't enough workers or space to do any cleaning.
I was here for the 2019 soundset. The facilities were set up nicely for a music festival. Plenty of atm...food vendors and port o potty. We got the VIP ticket which was a out 250. it. Got you seats on bleachers at all of the stages and special air conditioners bathrooms. This alone is worth the ticket. There is always parking and shuttles. Great spot for a concert.
If you dont know why this is 5 star...get.your...hmm..backside there, being money, wear comfy shoes and people watch while eating and collecting as much free stuff as you can locate!
If so inclined. ..ride rides in the midway, play games. Check out the history. Listen to the FREE music all day, in stages everywhere !
Don't miss the 2pm parade featuring bands from across the state !
Get out there and DO the Fair!
Absolutely the Best State Fair in America!
Easy to stay for 12 hours and you still won't see it all. So much more than a Midway or a cow barn. You can have those and much more. There's a Grandstand with shows and under the Grandstand with everything you don't need!
The foods, especially those on a stick, will lure you in many and all directions. Meatloaf on a stick was this years' favorite.
The Food was great but it wasn t the same without the rides
Best state fair in the county. Only downside are the terrible conditions of the bathrooms and Biffys along with all the litter on the streets but well with 100k people a day... people are gross I understand but maybe the fair could employ more sanitation people in the years to come.
I've gone to the state fair every year since I was little. Recently my eyes have been opened regarding how horrible single use plastics are for the environment. We brought our own clean containers and bottles to use in place of the plastic ones. No big deal, right? Well apparently it was because we got turned down multiple times. They said that it's a state fair regulation to use only the state fair cups and containers. I don't see the harm in using a different CLEAN container to hold my cheese curds that I'm purchasing or pouring my drink into my own cup. Never had a problem with the state fair before, but this was just ridiculous.
If this is your first fair you will either have a blast or not. Personally recommend West Indies soul food if you are looking for a Caribbean touch at the fair. Enjoy.
Excellent people watching. Needs more places to sit to eat.
Awesome food, beverages, music, shopping, people and experience packed in to 9 days of summer. Love the great Minnesota get together. Big thanks go to the organizers, volunteers and everyone that makes it possible.
I like it, it's fun! Look forward to it every year, but it's all the same thing every year. I think it needs new stuff, it needs some refreshing
Incredible gathering of people, culture, food and fun. Best fair I've ever attended
A MUST GO. This fair is so so fun with SO much to do.
Very crowded, lots of rides and vendors. Fun but long waits for everything from food to the ladies, which you would expect. On hot days more accessible water, misting tents and resting spots would be ideal. Rides are overpriced, but food is reasonable. Suggest taking a Lyft for ease of getting and out.
This is the biggest State Fair i have ever been to. There was so many people there! So much different kind of food and drinks! I cannot wait for next year. I guess the only negative thing to say about this place would have been that it was so busy and it was hard to get around because of it. However that negative is a positive because it just tells you how many people loved the state fair!
"No Words". It is a must to visit the great state fair of Minnesota. Especially, kids gonna love it. Also, for people who doesn't have a clue about country life can experience the live stock. Live birth giving process, different breeds of sheep, horses, cows, rabbit, pegions, hen etc. Hand made wooden furniture ( but pricy). Make sure you carry cash not credit card. All the fun games like shoot and grab gifts are very nice. FOOD: Varieties of food. You can experience everything if u go on a weekday . During weekends, you will find shoulder to shoulder people. I am not exaggerating. Literally, shoulder to shoulder people during weekends.
Back to the 50's car show. Over 11345 cars of all sorts in one place. Hands down best car show ever.
Had a great time at the fair! Great food, interesting people and good music!
Love the Minnesota State Fair....all the food you can imagine. It may not be good for me but it sure is tasty. And the people watching is a perfect bonus.
Love the fair! it gets bigger and better every year! I mainly come for FRIED OLIVES
Amazing food, drinks and people. Midwest folks know how to do a fair.
We had a lot of fun at the state fair. Lots of people. So many activities and plenty of stuff to do for young and old. The food was awesome. Too bad it only occurs once a year.
I went there for Comic-Con and had a blast. There was lots of free parking available and everything was easy to navigate. The event was fun with lots of entertaining and friendly people there. I'm glad it was dog friendly as well.
Tons of people, a lot of food on a stick, and fast lines.
Great weekend activity to round out the summer. Get there as early as possible to try beating some of the crowds to the new foods. See the West Market and International Bazaar for sure!
Every year there is more to see and do. It is truly the Great Minnesota Get-together. I hate crowds, and find myself in the thick of it every year.
On the Fourth of July this fairgrounds holds the best fireworks display I have ever seen
Always love engorging myself with food also I met jerry springer and he signed my hat.
Love going to the fair every year. Trying new foods, people watching, animal watching, and rides. I can only really take going there 1 time a year as it gets to be way too much! Park and rides are the way to go vs trying to park onsite.
Car shows, events, the fair, always a good time. Traffic and parking are always a nightmare. Day time, night time, always love being here.
My first time going to the fair, it wasn't as crowded as I was told it would he because I went on a weekday, but I loved all the different food & beer. I would definitely go back! But I would go back as well to see a show! Would have to have a while week to experience everything there!
Second biggest state fair in the USA, second only to Texas. This one is the best though!
Lots of fun. We make it an annual event to meet up with other family members.
We enjoy the food, the free shows, the animal barns, and the rides.
Highly recommend the Salem Lutheran Church Diner! Lutherans are known for their Great Hospitality! Just dont bring in your Parrots!
My favorite place that is at the end of summer. The Food, atmosphere, attractions and people watching!!
Had a fun time with the family. Plenty of food and beers but pricey . Difficult parking and steep pricing $30 to $40 dollars. Enjoy the rides and the concerts
I love the State Fair and you should too. If you haven't been there you should go....next year!
Always a great mix of traditional favorites and new things to eat, see, and do. An end of summer spectacle that should not be missed.
It's the Minnesota state Fair, what more can one say. Any food you could want on a stick, endless people watching, endless things to see. Make sure to do the park and ride, its the best way to go and it's free, and arrive early to get a parking spot.
Too crowded and over priced as expected. But, still an experience. Free Park and Ride was nice.
