Stopped in over the weekend with my family for lunch. We were on the road so had time to compare reviews and menus with several other restaurants in the area and we chose the mine company.

Wasnt disappointed at all. When we pulled up we had no idea that the outside would look like a Disney attraction. The theme continued inside and was a lot of fun.

We ordered the; French onion soup which was a favorite. The burgers were great. My wife and I split the burrito and it hit the spot. We also ordered buffalo chicken salad and it was pretty good and also massive. The kids spaghetti got a good review from one of my daughters.

Pricing was spot on and our server was excellent. Wife and kids were very impressed by the bathrooms!

Neat mine-themed restaurant. Surprisingly packed full of locals and had friendly staff. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this as someone in town for work to others in town on a short term basis. I wasn't prepared for the "flagship" Italian fries to literally be just cheesy pizza flatbread. KC BBQ Pork Sandwich wasn't reminiscent of actual KC BBQ and it wasn't a good balance of meat to coleslaw which was kind of a bummer. The menu itself tries to overachieve in my opinion, ranging from pizzas to burgers to classic sandwiches to soups to various pastas to Mexican food to fish fry. I would classify my experience as "okay".

Stopped here for a late lunch passing through from South Dakota. One of the best burgers I've ever had. I was in a hurry and my waiter, Jacob, took the time to show me the pizza fries and Kaleb burger were two things they were well known for. Service was fast and friendly in a clean and one of a kind restaurant. Will definitely stop again next time I come through Wausau. Thanks Jacob!

Stopped here for dinner while visiting Wausau from Green Bay. This place is super cool, a must see. The food was delicious. The wait staffs shirts were adorable, so I had to get one for myself. We'll be back next time we are in town!

You know the saying. One poor visit can completely ruin the desire to go back. We went on a weekday evening. The service was terrible, food quality was terrible. We'd noticed a slow decline lately in quality and it's a sad change. This was our go to place for dinner as a couple or family and was the most requested destination. Waited and waited and waited for our server. 20 min while waiting for a refill, followed by waiting for any service at all. Finally flagged down a different server. That server got us boxes and our check. waited 10 min to be cashed out. Finally went up front and checked out with the hostess. The manager seemed to not care about how crappy our service was and frankly I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon.

Food:
Ravioli (wife's dish) Nearly flavorless.
Cheese curds delicious as always.
Wife's salad, the mushrooms looked old and frankly she picked around them.

Pizza (something they're known for)
I ordered a 10" Pepperoni, Onion and Bacon (my favorite i've had it there once before and it was amazing)
It was flavorless, the cheese and onions tasted OLD. Almost like they were sitting out for the entire day on a non climate controlled prep table.

I'm sorry to say. Beware they're not what they used to be. This was my last trip to them.

Good luck

A lot of the food is very average at best. I ordered the southwest BBQ turkey melt that was advertised as coming with roasted turkey, melted cheddar, and drizzled with sauce. The "roasted" turkey was four slices of cheap, thin turkey lunch meat, the cheddar was barely melted, and it was smothered in BBQ sauce (an effort to make up for the bad quality meat?) Having said that, the onion rings were very good and the atmosphere is fun for tourists and families. I'm from the area and have eaten at Wausau Mine numerous times over the years, but my last few experiences have been really disappointing.

OMG, can I just say that the "I bet you can't" burger is the most amazing burger I have ever had. Grease dipping down your hands, so unhealthy and so delicious. The place is amazing and our server Katie was awesome. She was so friendly and attentive. I wish we lived closer so we could come back. You locals are so lucky!!!!!

I had a two piece cod fish fry, with french fries it also came with marble rye, coleslaw, tartar sauce, and some lemon wedges for $8.99. I only have one word and that is WOW.
I would recommend Wausau mine company to anyone who is looking for a great meal and very fair prices.

We were seated right away, the staff was very friendly, and the dining area and restrooms were clean. Our waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu, and she didn't annoy us by constantly interrupting our meal like some do. The food arrived at our table shortly after ordering, and all of our orders were perfectly done. We even ordered cheese fries to-go before leaving. Nice atmosphere, down to earth staff, and good food with affordable prices. I'd recommend the Kansas City pork sandwich; loved it!

Was okay. I ordered a chicken salad with ranch dressing. They forgot my dressing. My dinner companion ordered the Cesaer salad, which was swimming in dressing. Then there were fruit flies crawlingin my lettuce..which is why I decided not even to bother reminding the server about the dressing. The server came by several times and asked how the food was, but walked off before we could even answer (clearly either didn't care or too busy sweeping). Then when she came back to our table and asked my companion if she wanted a second glass of wine, my friend said...she was not sure yet as she not sure yet as she was only halfway through her first glass and she had to drive home. Again, the server walked off before even hearing her full response, and a minute later brought a second glass of wine to the table and walked off before anyone could say anything. We we're one of 3 tables being a served so it was not by any means busy. So I'll let you readers make sense of that. 15 minutes later, the server approached our table with the check (we never asked for one..and it was only 9:15pm...places closes at 11pm and we had gotten there about 8pm) and asked us if we could pay it right away because she was ending her shift. The ONLY saving grace was the space and layout of the place was nice and unique, and good for talking, and my drink was good. That's it, otherwise one star. I did tip the waitress decently, however ( $10 on a $40 bill), just because my dinner guest asked me to, but service was serious lacking and the salads were epics failures despite the chicken in my salad being delicious and the only thing I ate...uhm.. before noticing all the crawling fruit flies in the lettuce.

We used to go there a lot and quality of the food went way down. We thought we would give them another chance and waited 45 minutes for our to-go order which my husband had to go ask about and than it appeared when we got home there was no salads and no garlic bread, so we called and they took no blame but said that we could come back and get it, then my husband said "no, we just got home" and they said "to bad for you". NEVER will go again.

It was a good experience, food was tasty and the server was attentive. They had burgers that were not available on the weekend which was strange, one of then we wanted to try. We would probably come back if we come back to Wausau for dinner.

I give the atmosphere a solid 5 star. The food was good. The only reason I dropped a star was because it really needs cleaned badly, especially the sprinkler system and air intakes. They were filthy. If it had a good cleaning then it would be 5 star. It is still totally worth going just to see this beautifully designed restaurant.

Really good upscale bar food, and solid drinks. Only visited for dinner, but the drinks were mixed strong and well. The menu is pretty diverse if you aren't vegan, and what I had was quite good (BLT) as was the burger the other diner I was with had. The onion rings were exceptional. Very reasonably priced for the quality of the food. I will probably come back next time I'm in town and hanker for a great greasy meal. The mine ambiance is a nice touch, as is the mining equipment outside, as I'm fond of old machinery.

By far my best dining experience with the kids. Our waitress Deb was on top of everything she made our dining experience fun and easy. Dining with a special needs child and two younger siblings is never an easy task and it usually results in the wait staff ignoring our table. Our waitress Deb made our night such a comfortable relaxed treat. The food was amazing as well

One star for providing passable, completely over-salted and low-quality food. One star for being a bit of local history.

3 stars missing for the price, the laughably bad service, and the complete lack of flavor.

Food was great, and as always the cheese fries are worth the trip. Glad we got call ahead seating, because the place was busy tonight. We were seated with 5 minutes of arriving. Next time I'll pass on the old fashioned though. That (unlike the cheese fries) is not the best in town.

Visited last night, 8/7/2019 with our usual group. We have frequented the Wausau Mine at least 20 times in the last three years. The food was great as usual, but our waitress ( Ashley S ) projected the impression she was doing us a favor by waiting our table. Her attitude was stand-offish, short and smug from the initial meeting with no improvement through the meal. We always have enough to take home and this is the first time our food wasn't taken and placed in a take home container. Instead we were brought take containers to fill ourselves. Without question, she has been the most disappointing waitress we've had here.

The food brings us back, but poor service will drive us to other locations.

We ordered a steak and lasagna, both good but not great. The waitress forgot to bring the mushrooms. Broccoli and cauliflower were cooked but had lots of stem pieces. Cesar salad was drenched in salad dressing. Inside is low ceilings and dark gray with no windows, like a cheap stage set. Not the place if you're claustrophobic! Prices were average, as was the experience.
