We loved this place. We asked for an end, little more peaceful, but the spots were a good size. This place is very well taken care of, our spot was clean, you think well sure, but all of the amenities were also pretty clean. There pool is a little run down, needs a facelift on the pool paint. The staff is very friendly and helpful, thye have onsite laundry room, showers and bathrooms (which are very clean) if you're not staying in a camper or you are and just don't want to use it.

Booking was easy, the wife called and was able to get a spot pretty easy, full hook up. Fire pits at each spot and a wooden picnic table that was stained and taken care of.

If we are back in the area we would try to stay there again

Complete Disappointment! Our cabin had FLEAS!!! It was confirmed by an Exterminator! After our stay and we were completely bitten up and itching all over our bodies!! The cabin was super cute but the stay was horrid. The next week to follow was miserable. I had to get a Steroid cream from the doctor to help clear up the damage it caused! I'm sure to be scarred from the bites. My fiance got it worse than I did! They still have Not refunded our money we spent for the cabin as their manager had said that she did. It's been a week. I'm going Public if they do not correct this NOW!!! I am Disgusted with how we have been ignored!!!

Great campground to stay at! Love the array of things to do away the campground as well as great location for visiting attractions! Hot tub is too small with too many kids in it, other than that it's great!

The location of Rushmore shadows is ideal for my family, close to Rapid city, and close to the hills. We've stayed in cabins as well as taken our camper. Over all we are very happy with our stay there.

The resort was nice and clean. The bathrooms and facilities were nice also. We also participated in their 90 min presentation as part of our visit. There was no pressure to join. We enjoyed our time here.

Really enjoyed staying at RSR. We are new RV owners so we really appreciated the new area of concrete pads that you can just pull through. It came in handy especially because we arrived at night. Each of the spots has its own picnic table and charcoal pit. COVID 19 restrictions were in place, so many of the amenities were closed (but without kiddos, this didn't impact our stay). The park is in a great location close to attractions.

There were a couple of downsides that came with the design of the new pads: 1) the pads are all sloped downhill (to the front of the rig)--the grade wasn't too noticeable until after setting the jacks down. 2) the fire pit ended up parallel to the door and it wasn't moveable. 3) the wi-fi routers only worked part of the time (but we are finding this is pretty typical for campsites.)

This is a membership Park. If you have a membership you can stay free. You can also stay free at four other parks over in Minnesota. Plus you get big discounts at Coast-to-Coast parks around the nation. Plus you can get cut rates on condos around the world. Plus cheaper rates on cruise ships. Plus you can pass your membership down to your children and your grandchildren. That is what you get. It is a little bit complicated and I can see why some people can't understand how it all works. If you are not a member the one night rates are pretty high. Look at it this way, many RV parks have long-term tenants. They are in older trailers or motorhomes, skirting around the sides, propane tanks out front, and junk stored near there sites. It looks pretty tacky. Those long term people are the ones that pay the bills and the mortgage for the RV Park. Those parks make their money on the short-term vacation rentals. With a place like this they pay their mortgage and bills with the membership program. You can come and stay free. But you can only stay for two weeks at a time and then you have to take a one-week break. So you do not see older RVs and motorhomes parked at sites with skirting around them and propane tanks out in front and junk stored everywhere. The entire park looks nice. And because the motorhomes and RVs have to be moved out the park has time to fix the piping and electrical and take care of the lawn at each site. You end up with a very very nice park that does not look like an old-time trailer park. I figure I get my money back just by staying at this park for two weeks each year. It's a good deal for me and my family so I am happy with my decision to buy a membership.

Just drove 800 miles to get here to find out they don't honor reservations made 6 weeks in advance. Very disappointed and inconvenienced since we reserved a pull through due to car dolly and ended up in a back in barely able to fit our 38ft RV. And Had to detach dolly in the rain to be able to set up RV in the rain. And BTW we passed several empty pull throughs on our way to the overflow/groundskeeper spots they put us in. #Disgruntled.

We stated in Cedar cabin which we enjoyed! The cabin was very comfortable and accommodating especially with the wifi! The only reason for a 4 star review is the shop closed before its set hours so we had to go into town for ice.

Spent 2 weeks here and met some amazing people. The staff was always eager to help in any way that they could. We will definitely be back. Amenities were nice as well. Mini Golf was challenging, camp store had all of the necessities and more.

Dog friendly park but as always keep them on a leash.

New section is able to house the larger rigs. (Newly Constructed) only wish there was a Bath House in the new area or a walkway to the pool and other bath house. All in all, Great visit. We will definitely be back. Aiming for late April to mid May. Going to be an annual stopping point.

Enjoy your visit and go back often. There is no way to see it all I NV 2 weeks.

I bought the membership at the presentation, but I found that I just didn't feel that the decision was the right one for me right now. This had nothing to do with the resort, which looks like a beautiful place, and was quite what I was looking for. I canceled my membership within the 7-day cancellation period, and the staff was still friendly and made no hassle about it. At this time I have no reason to think that my refund won't be delivered. (I had to repost this, it originally posted from the wrong account)

Update: The owner replied generically telling me to return my membership materials in order to get my refund - which I had already done. I bought on October 19, returned on October 25 (including materials) and so it's been about 1 week waiting for the refund so far, which can supposedly take up to 30 days.

Have stayed at this park on two occasions. 1st time when I won a prize for 4 days free stay if we listened to a sales pitch to buy into the park. On that visit they put us in a full hook up site for our 26ft travel trailer in a spot next to a fence of a neighborhood and the electric hook up was on a tree on the opposite side of the trailer hook up and we had to use our own power cord. Just recently visited again in June 2015 for a 4 night stay that I also won. I called the office while in route to get directions as we were coming a different way and was told that our spot was in a shady area with trees and since we were arriving late we would not disturb other campers as there were not that many in that area. I was asked again what was the size of our unit and I told her it was a 26ft travel trailer and she confirmed that it would fit in that area as it was a back in as they had no pull thrus available. When we arrived we located our spot only to find out that where they had put us was for tent trailers and in no way would our travel trailer and truck fit in that spot. We located a security guard who verified that we would not fit there and took us to a overflow area with pull thrus, full hook ups, grass but no trees. We were out in the open field. I went to office in the morning and was told that we were put in our original spot because I did not tell them the size of my unit. They let us stay in that spot but after talking to several other campers with trailers, motorhomes and tent trailers they too were put in spots that their units would not fit in as well. All I can say is it is a beautiful campground if you are a member if not you get the crappy spots. It is quite evident that if you are not a member you are treated very poorly. I still have 18 days left on my free passes and I can tell you that I will never stay there again and will never recommend them.

Very nice membership campground. Sites are spacious with 50 amp full hookups, people are friendly, cell phone coverage is great, far enough from the road to be reasonably quiet. They treat Coast to Coast people the same as their own members.

Lovely campground with lots of amenities-pool, spa, 2 playgrounds, dog park, and fire pits to name a few. Restrooms checked several times a day and they are spotlessly clean. Cabins on site as well. On the way to Mt. Rushmore, Keystone, and Custer State Park in the Black Hills. Minutes from Rapid City. Other attractions close by.

We came from Minnesota and stayed in cougar cabin ...

We came from Minnesota and stayed in cougar cabin on the edge of the resort. We loved it........kinda. The cabin interior could use updating. As a member of the resort I was disappointed with the interior. The other cabins i've visited on the membership had knotty pine interior, large flat screen, vinyl plank flooring, and a mini split cooling system. At rushmore shadows we could barely keep the cabin cool with the two window units, and one was in the bedroom so we had to make sure we left the door open to cool the cabin and during hot days we were lucky to get down to 75degrees. Now that my rant is over lol it was a practical cabin and was clean and in good running order. Its in a great location!!! and the kids loved mini golf which was very well maintained. One evening My kids and wife sat next to me by our cabin as 13 mule deer came within 20ft of us!!!!!! Unbelievable. I would recommend going here, but if you get cabin ask for an updated cabin lol

RSR was a great family stopover a short distance from Mount Rushmore with plenty of activities for the kids nearby in a safe and secure environment. Definitely recommend to families wanting to camp on their way through the area.

Quiet and quaint. Staff is so friendly! They have great prices in the store, much better than the gas station 1/10 of a mile away that has cereal for $7 a box. Who does that??? We love our membership!

If you plan a visit over the 4th of July you should get your reservations very early. We were checked in for three weeks(we are members) but were asked to move on the 3rd because of overbooking. They put us in a grassy "overflow" spot with no amenities at all. The weather turned out pretty rainy so a lot of campers cancelled. It still required us to pack up, spend a night in overflow before we could move back into a regular spot. We could see empty spaces around all night but were not allowed to move to one of them. When we bought the membership 16 years ago we were lead to believe that it was a member's only park and if you didn't buy a membership you would not be allowed to camp. I guess that has changed now, but I still believe a member should at least have preference over a non-member. We paid for the membership and have paid our dues faithfully every year. The park is a very nice place with great amenities, the management just need to re-think how they take reservations.

Go somewhere else! For over $60 a night I expect superior service and did not receive that. They are charging entirely too much. I should have turned around and left when I was greeted in a rude and condescending fashion at the desk when I checked in. Lots of rules, deadlines, and procedures to follow, yet they do not provide the services advertised. Was prevented from doing laundry the last night before departure because their staff had occupied all TEN washers with laundry from the cabins. Received a dismissive grin for the staff about that. And wifi throughout is well below par, even for public access.
