Don t even bother going here. They told me they had a nursing program which was a HUGE lie. This place makes you feel like a ward of the state. I was super homesick to the point where I barely ate because my stomach was in actual pain from stress. On my second day I passed out in the hallway and had a major panic attack. There are very few staff that care about you. By Thursday evening I had enough and went into the counselors office and told her I couldn t be here anymore. I told her that my anxiety was terrible and that I wanted to go home. She called my parents and was nice enough to even help me pack my bags. All they care about is the numbers.

I was MEDICALLY discharge from Joliet Job Corp and accepted it. I did not want to go back to my family that I was living with prior to my job corp stay . I faced a lot of traumatizing things after the program and all I ask was to have my belongings held while I found a stable place to live . I was homeless and in and out of mental hospitals .A month later after I was MEDICAL discharge from Joliet Job Corp .I finally contacted my family and they were worried sick about me .They didn't know where I was. My belongings were shipped to my aunt's residence and when my aunt called they said that I left and she's an adult . Which is not true! I am so disgusted by this place and the people there. I think job corp is a great program but this center was very unorganized. I just was a number and no one could say I wasn't . No one really cared and did not want to even take responsibility to tell my aunt and cousin that I was MEDICALLY discharge.

I and several other students, administrators, and teachers were the very first to move from the old location which was in Wilmington, Ill to where you all are today back in 1983. It was, "during my time there and I believe still is", one of the best places
to get a jump start in life.. I was able to find myself by being able to be myself of which in turn I was able to release my true potential. I left with a trade in 4 forms of Welding and several academic certificates which then allowed me to move on to bigger and better things in life..

I am forever grateful to all members of the Joliet Job Corp Center for making my transition in life so much easier...

Thanks again for the memorable experience,
I love each a everyone of you!!

The school can't loose any students so they let students get away with bulling and it is a ZT to steal but if you have a roommate who is stealing they will only change your rooms. This place is a mess the students act like children and staff are unprofessional, students are most of the time trying to fight, nobody knows what is a single file line is. You get your lunch 15min before you are forced to leave the cafeteria since everyone cuts the line. Dinner starts at 5:00pm but they open the cafeteria doors 20min after the time it should be open. My experience here is horrible I wish I have read the reviews before coming, I believe Wisconsin Job corps might be better.

I AM CURRENTLY A STUDENT HEAR AT JOB CORPS... SO FAR I BEEN HERE FOR AMPLE TIME. THE ENVIRONMENT HERE IS VERY APALLAING, KIDS ARE VERY UNCORDIAL, YOU MIGHT FIND A FEW THAT ARE FRIENDLY, THE STAFF HERE ARE RUDE, BUT LIKE I SAID YOU MIGHT FIND A FEW STAFF MEMEBERS WHO REALLY ARE CONCERN ABOUT YOU AND YOUR FUTURE. ITS A LOT YOUNG KIDS, WHO AFFILIATE THEMSELVES WITH GANG ACTIVITY AND WILL TRY TO BULLY THOSE WHO ARENT AFFLIATED WITH THE SAME ANTICS... THIS PLACE ALSO HAS BED BUGS, LUCKY I AM BLESS NOT TO HAVE THEM IN MY DORM... THIS PLACE IS JUST UNORGANIZED, NEED BETTER IMPROVEMENT WITH BEHAVIOR... THE PROGRAM HAS GOOD OPPORTUNITIES FOR EDUCATION, JUST DONT GET CAUGT IN THE DRAMA WITH WRONG PEOPLE BECAUSE YOU WILL SUFFER!!!!

Interviewed here back in earlier part of 2020 and this was by far the worse interview EVER. I sat around for nearly 3.5 to 4 hours, such a waste of time. So unprofessional, from HR to the director, there was no sense of professionalism and I never interviewed for what I came to interview for, which was a teaching job. I can't see this place staying in business long, not with current people that are in charge here. This place has truly gone down since its inception.

There are many opportunities here. Consider it a second chance for Students if they missed out on earlier opportunities in their young adulthood.
I am a graduating student of Job Corps.
I obtained my Diploma while here and I also left with two trades under my belt. I walked across the stage feeling accomplished.
During my time at Job Corps Center, I was very shy. This kept me out of trouble. I had not yet come out of my shell. So During my time there while students all around me were engaging in trouble and being removed from the program/their second chance, I was too afraid to join them. LOL
The program works if you do. I admired and looked up the students who became role models leaving the Job Corps Center as Success Stories.
A few of the staff played a major role in my succeeding as well.
Thank you to Mr. Tucker who is now working at a different location.
Ms. Larson who is now a former employee as well.
Anytime I had an opportunity I would volunteer for activities such as cleaning and reorganizing the library, tending to and saving the school garden and singing at an event.
I had a fun time at Job Corps Center.
I would also take walks around the grounds on nice days and star gaze in the night.
I would gather around positive friends. We would read together, attend bible Study and attend groups with other students.
Go to student events, talk to the staff, laugh and eat.
I REALLY enjoyed my time here.
The residential Staff was very memorable. Most of the women who worker there during my time as a student were very kind and attentive which is what Job Corp Needs.
I am very thankful for the education and training I received while there.
I appreciate the direction I received from the Staff as well.
STUDENTS, if you are reading this review.
Staff care and they will be there for you to offer guidance.
Find someone you can trust and open up to. And receive instruction, wisdom and direction from them.
They do exist at Job Corps. There are people there who genuinely care for the well being of the students.
Choose the right ones!
Take your SECOND CHANCE, seriously.
Bless all of you!

I went to Joliet Job Corps in 1988. I got my GED and got out. I thank the teachers that cared enough to encourage me and tell me that I was smart. I now have a Master of Science in Accounting and I am the CEO of an accounting firm. Don't give up on your dreams!

It's a program that helps you. Students still think it's high school. No it's an training facility. Trying to fight an all the stall are good an care. The only thing is the students majority of them are African American. Who still think they are in the South Side Of Chicago. Absolutely horrible.

I reached out to a lady in the administration office as a concerned parent to speak about my daughter's complaints, and she informed me that I would receive a call back from either her or the academic teacher. Unfortunately! they were not responsible enough to call me back like adults. So now ima have to take it to a higher person thats in charge of jobcorps.

I am grateful for the staff there & how they have genuine concern for the children. However, as a professional a few of the staff need to learn to Talk to others. I called as a concerned parent and a lot of the staff were wonderful and very helpful. However, I spoke to a women and she was very nasty with a total disregard that I too was an adult..blew me away. I couldn't believe it.

But the program is amazing and there are some great staff at the center.

I would not recommend sending any kids there. They don't watch them. If your kids is on medication they are not monitoring them when they take it. The stag ff there is only there for a paycheck. Not to help the kids. They don't know how to talk to people and if you leave messages they don't call back. This also includes the head of staff as well. They had the nerve to call me about my 2 boys to come. The devils world had not frozen over. They are liars and thieves. They show favoritism. Some of the staff ( very very few) do help. Please listen to my warning don't let your kids go here.
