We rushed our fur baby, Meowchie, in after he came home limping unable to use his left hind leg. He was in terrible pain and obviously unnerved by it. The staff at Mid-Columbia relieved his pain immediately and took x-rays as well as discovering a possible absess. Although there were no recent signs of trauma showing on the film, it did show he had injured it in the past with a possible healed fracture but it also brought into light a rare abnormality where the bone of his knee joints did not close as supposed to by the age of 1. The doctor was so thorough and supportive as my significant other and I desperately brainstormed ways to get him the surgery he would need for a bright long future with us. He even brought us back to see Meowchies x-rays and explain in detail his findings since it was so hard for us to wrap our brains around. You see, Meowchie was a gift to me from my boyfriend from the humane society as we lived several hours apart and I was told I would never bare a child of my own. Meowchie has helped fill that void and, since his arrival, my significant other and I have moved in together and have been blessed with a baby girl on the way despite all odds. So, he really is a part of our growing family and we have been so blessed with his company cuz he is the most amazingly loving cat ever! As I sit in the office sobbing over Meowchies' condition, I was also trying to figure out how we were going to afford the current visit that brought us in to the hospital the first place since my pregnancy has been extremely difficult and I have been unable to work since the first trimester and my boyfriend's new job hadn't started yet though his previous one had ended already. The stress was almost too much for my pregnant brain to handle. The staff treated us as family and were incredibly sympathetic to our situation. So much so, that they allowed us to be put on an in-house payment plan for the amount due and we weren't even required to put anything down that day... an obvious rarity of any animal clinic/hospital. We were sent home with a sedated but comfortable kitty and some meds to help heal the abcess and some to keep him comfortable for the duration. A few days later as Meowchies injuries improved, we received an updated bill from Mid-Columbia but it seemed a mistake had been made... a favorable one with a very small balance due. We received a call from the staff later that day as they were checking to see how Meowchie was doing. I gave them the good news of his recovery and thanked them again for all their help and brought up the invoice to try to make sense of it. It seems as though an anonymous angel had paid the majority of our bill as a random act of kindness. My heart was instantly overflowing with love and gratefulness to this amazing blessing and as I sit here writing this review, I am snuggled up with my loving fur baby who is just as happy as I am, even though he doesn't know just how lucky we really are. So, I'd really like for our anonymous angel and all of the wonderful, caring staff at Mid Columbia to know just how amazing you guys are and how blessed we are to know that such wonderful people exist in the world. We are truly blessed and will continue to refer anyone and everyone to your hospital and share our story of thanksgiving for years to come. From the bottom of our hearts, we THANK YOU!
Sincerely,
Nicole, Leon, Meowchie and (coming soon) baby Adalynn
