Good venue. Had to buy a membership in order to buy alcoholic drinks. Stairs need to be lit better- I saw 2 people fall walking down in the balcony

Ann Arbor Film Festival is enhanced in this great theater
Great old theater with an eclectic selection of shows.
Crappiest theater you could go to, but I would defiantly go again :)
I have visited the Ann Arbor Film Festival twice and love this theater: friendly and dedicated staff and a beautiful and well maintained space. Highly recommended. Also, AAFF has excellent programs.
First time there and was amazed by the detail and effort put toward maintaining the old grandeur. Comfortable seats, and clean. Will watch for other events there in the future.
Beautiful decor, really has a vintage feel. The acoustics are also quite impressive. Staff have been pleasant on each of my visits. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this establishment
Shows great films, historical structure, awesome time.
Lovely atmosphere. The main hall is wonderful. Try to avoid the Annex
We visited the Michigan Theater to see Vulfpeck in concert. It was a great venue with good sound and excellent lighting. And the show was awesome. My only complaint is that the whole theater stood the entire show even though we had seats and the rows were very close together.
Beautiful historic building. Movies fun to see here.
This theater has a wide variety of events. I am never disappointed in anything I have viewed here. Staff is great.
Went to The Greatest Showman sing-along and had a great time!
It s very beautiful theater, inside is fabulous. The staff are super kind. There's a magical atmosphere. Thank you so much for nice evening.
The Michigan Theater (and the State Theater) should be your first choice to watch a movie in Ann Arbor. The Michigan has a classic vibe and always has an interesting set of independent films and documentaries in addition to some blockbusters. They won't gouge you on snacks and drinks and it's a nonprofit! Plus the Michigan is right downtown in the middle of lots of restaurants and bars. Hands down the best movie theater in town.
Beautiful theatre. Great place to catch a live show.
It's a beautiful building! I went for a special movie event.
The seats are small and the aisles are narrow so larger people may find the venue uncomfortable but aside from that the views are excellent almost anywhere. The balcony is sloped enough that people in front of you likely won't obstruct anyone's view. I've never sat on the main floor though. Plus the build is beautiful and the acoustics were fantastic.
So cute. Saw the RBG movie and the whole crowd clapped after - small town feel in a cute city.
Fun place to catch a movie that you wouldn't see at a regular theater. Plus it is really cool interior.
beautiful theater
I go to see the Oscar Nominated Shorts every year!
Have seen everything here movies, orchestras, live entertainment, festivals. A true gem of Ann Arbor.
Ron White was awesome!! Great seats...however, could be a bit more organized.
Great theater, one of it's own kind, reminds me of old days. Need a little bit of work on seating comfort, everything else is great.
Great sound, beautiful interior, and nice staff who are very friendly and helpful
The Michigan Theater is another place I have been going to for decades. Penny Stamps lectures and music; movies.
This another AnnArbor treasure the space is an artitecual delight.
Very diverse film offerings, great mid-size music venue.
The Michigan Theater is absolutely beautiful! There really isn't a bad seat in the house. We went to see a shadow cast of Rocky Horror Picture Show. We sat up in the mezzanine and could see all of the actors on the stage. 10/10 would recommend.
Great old theater. Good sightlines. Really enjoyed Hasan Minhaj, and staff made sure the crowd moved along quickly.
Good place to see live entertainment and high quality films.
Beautiful room with great sightlines, however the acoustics are a nightmare. Under the balcony sounds like an old box and the balcony feels like a second room with horrible slap effects from the main chamber. I no longer attend live music there.
Wonderful movie experience except be sure to get there early to get a good seat
Saw Sarah Vowell, very entertaining. Have to read some of her books.
Amazing theater, beautifully restored. A great place to see all kinds of different shows. Very friendly staff.
A Classic! Staff stood chatting in a group of 4 while we wondered what theater we needed to go to
The theater screens mostly critically acclaimed movies or international movies. Classes are offered regularly, and family nights for kids are mostly free or cost a nominal fee. Directors of movies are periodically invited to speak to the audience. They have an annual Cinetopia International Film Festival, which brings a large selection of the best international movies to Ann Arbor.
This historic theater was originally saved from demolition because a small group of thoughtful, committed people wanted to change the world and save an organ (indeed, it is the only thing that ever has, as Margaret Mead would say). And what a gift we have because of them!
Saw 'The Shape of Water' in the screening room. Beautifully restored theatre. I always prefer seeing a movie at The Michigan over the other more modern theatres.
I forgot what a treasure this place is. It reminds me of how movies used to be watched. It was the perfect place to see La La Land. Amy and I sat up in the balcony and made out a little for old time sake. Fun!
Beautiful theater with lots of seating. Only complaint is that the screen isn't very big and my eyesight isn't all that great so sitting in the back is meh for me.
I love the Michigan Theater and I'm glad it's still being used because its so beautiful inside! A great night at the movies!
Just love all of it. It may not have the fancy reclining seats but the atmosphere and movie selections make it one of the best places to watch a show or film.
Popcorn isn't that good but the theater is Fun and pretty. And easy to see from every spot
Never come back again. I was being treated rudely by a male staff just because I accidentally brought a drink to the theater.
My mother always took us kids to holiday sing alongs, I grew up going to movies and events there and even graduated on the stage of the Michigan theater. Needless to say I just love this place. AND they have the best movie popcorn in town
Good venue for art movies. Get there early for the best seats
Great local theatre still showing movies in a classic theatre, also with live events on stage.
Old school ambiance makes you really feel like you're going to the theater
Michigan Theatre is located in the heart of Downtown Ann Arbor. Everyone here are amazing individuals for sure. So many historic events have occurred in this particular theater for sure. Plus it s opened all year round as well. Can t wait to make another appearence as a visitor again soon as well. Keep up the great work!
Love going to movies, plays, concerts,or like tonite, taking a friend out for her birthday to see a special showing of Frankenstein/National Theatre Live with her fav Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead!!! Special Nite
Nice restored theater. Wife and I want to see a band play. Gentlemen with red "Staff" shirts on had hoodys on with hoods up... Very unprofessional.
Classic film venue in downtown A2 with a retro flair. Wooden seating like in the old days, so be prepared. Smaller theater rooms make it cozy. I liked it!
Loved seeing Randy Rainbow at the Michigan Theater. He was great and the venue was perfect. I wondered if I would be able to hear in the balcony. No worry. I heard it all. Of course he also had subtitles with the lyrics.
Restoration turned out beautifully. Staff is very friendly and helpful. It was a great place to see the latest Star Wars movie. My wife and I really enjoyed our evening there!
Great acoustics for a concert. If any of your favorite bands are playing here, go. You will be impressed.
This theater is such an iconic part of the University of Michigan campus. My friends and I came here to see La La Land and we loved it. Before the movie started, there was a musician playing the organ in the front of the theater, which made it feel like we were back in the old days. This is a nice old-fashioned theater that has gorgeous decor and surprisingly comfortable seats. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here would highly recommend catching a movie here!
I look forward to when the renovation is complete. It will be so beautiful! I enjoyed watching a movie there and joining as a member to signify my support.
A beautiful and historic theater. Arrive early and listen to the organist play. One warning: if you are claustrophobic or don't like touching people you will hate these seats. They are very close together. If you get stuck in the middle of a row you will have to step on ten peoples feet before you even reach the aisle.
Was there for the AAFF. Elegant old theater with a lot of history & character.
We always enjoy the Michigan Theater, I recommend it highly. It is beautifully appointed, an art theater, does not screen the first-run pop movies that you can get at the googleplex. But with 3 screening rooms, there are plenty of choices, and most days they show recent art films. Lots of thematic events, plus the Ann Arbor Folk Festival, etc.
A county treasure restored to it's original glory and then some! The Not Just for Kids series is an amazing program and great value. Wine & spirits available with your popcorn & candy.
It's historic, a treasure that we are blessed to have.
Wonderful theater to see a movie! Love how the audience is polite & quiet and the concession stand sells popcorn with "real" butter!
Always a treat. Films are shown on time and are played well. This place is more about the experience then anything else. We have been here for numerous events through the years and it is a pleasure to visit. The staff is great!
Wonderful place to see a movie. I love the organ and the popcorn and the beer. Cinetopia is very well done.
Classic old (but updated) theater. Movies and shows. Ann Arbor institution.
Awesome theater! Going there for a movie is one of my greatest joy after school.
Gorgeous theater! They had a live organist playing before the show, just as a thing, it had nothing to do with the movie. Great place to see movies in limited release or special showings.
Beautiful place! Looking forward to going to another show here soon
