Great atmosphere and a nice selection of films that aren't shown at the big name theatres.

Love Love Love this wonderful historic theater with regular organ (that rises up from below!) recitals before the movie in the main theater. Tonight? A special event with Todd Rundgren in the house. Life is good.

Love the theater! If you have a chance to see a film here do it, it's so nostalgic.

The Michigan Theatre is the place I go to watch movies if I can. The theatre is to me more of a classic theatre and the inside reminds me when I would read about movies and cinema and theatre in the old days way before I was even born. Good reminder of the past.

What's not to love about a movie theater where a guy plays a pipe organ during intermission? Add to that the low admission and concessions prices, the excellent selection of Arthouse-y films and its location dab smack in the middle of downtown Ann Arbor. This is one of the few things that I will miss about this area when I move to Portland, OR... where it's Ann Arbor as far as the eye can see!

the manager, who is white, came out and battered me for being in the ally next door and filed a false police report when i was 16.

Quaint little theater. Enjoyed seeing a show here and having a water fountain to drink from, which a lot of places don't have in order to force you into buying bottled water.

Whatever the event, you feel like you're part of history--enjoy it.

Classy as it always has been, best theater in town, they don't make them like they used to!

Such an incredible venue! I love that so much work is going back into restoring this historical landmark. While you won't catch new movie openings, this place is a fountain of family fun and entertainment all year round. I especially love how they show Oscar nominated features during awards season. Also, if you ever have a chance to catch a concert her, do it!

Love the glitz and glamour od this place, plus the films are oftem foreign or small scale releases. Nice change from the multiplex!

I am lucky enough to live within walking distance of the Michigan Theater and one of my favorite things to do (even in yesterday's sub-zero weather!) is to trek up there. Everyone is friendly and the popcorn is without compare (just try to eat the crap they feed you at Rave). Love this place!

Went to see the water champ Tom Segura and was not disappointed.

The architecture itself is a reason to step inside. The employees are extremely friendly and kind.

We went to see Peg + Cat Live as part of our school's exposure to the arts program. We loved it! The ushers were so amazing with our boys who've never been into a theater like this. All staff made it an enjoyable experience and we will most definitely be back!

This is a beautiful theater. What a treasure for Ann Arbor. I have been several times and each time I feel like I'm being transported back a few years in time. On one occasion the air conditioning went out, but they were good to us and gave us vouchers for the next time we came back in. Every new A2 resident must check it out!

Went to a GREAT concert put on by the Ann Arbor Concert Band. I will definitely be going back to hear them again. It was a barging at only $5 for Seniors...

Amazing films, great sound quality, and tasty popcorn

This non-profit, art deco, movie palace is run by people who love film. 3 screening rooms plus they're renovating the half-a-block away State Theater, 4 rooms, better seating, and an elevator for those who need it. Opening 4th quarter 2017.

What a cool place to see a concert. The history of this building blows my mind and the fact you can have a beer while you enjoy a show is awesome!

Live organ accompaniment is such a treat! A real gem, Ann Arbor wouldn't be the same without it.

A lovely old style theater, beautiful historic decor, but smaller seats. Came in for my first time for Bamff & really enjoyed the the balcony the stadium seating made for a great viewing experience!

OK venue. The stage is a little small and the seating is not very comfortable. But they offer a good selection of shows.

Ann Arbor staple, movies, events, and speakers. I've seen Patti Smith talk, Cyndi Lauper sing and Sally Mann speak about her photography to name a few. Beautiful space and they are going to be extending and growing their building this year.

We got in smoothly, the ushers knew where to send us.If you are over 5'2 you will need extra knee room....in the balcony area. The Keb'Mo' concert was great! We could see the stage very good,from our balcony seats.The sound quality is outstanding.

Beautiful venue for the local symphony. Haven't seen a movie here.

The pipe organ is also fully equipped and is highly valued as a historical building.

Usually playing some great indie films or foreign films that you might not be able to find in a theater otherwise!

Great place to see either a film, a concert or an event. Very few bad seats in the main room and they are clearly marked online so you know what you are getting when you book. Great little screening rooms in the back for smaller release films. A little piece of Ann Arbor history.

Attended for a music of Harry Potter event and it was very nice. We'll decorated for the event and helpful staff.

Great theater, we went down to watch Bruce Campbell. The building was very nice and they server alcohol if you are a member, which you can join when you get there.

Just saw a jazz show here and I thought this place was really nice. It looks really cool on the inside and I liked the history behind it. It was also really clean.

Saw the documentary "Won't you be my negibor". Was wonderful, staff was friendly, snacks were reasonably priced.

We saw Mike Birbiglia here and it was a great play to see a comedy show.

I liked the old style of this theater compared to a modern one. We listened to the Ann Arbor symphony orchestra perform Star Wars music, and it was quite good. Only quibble: one of the smaller posters, probably for some movie, had a very graphic picture of a gay sex scene, which is visible as you're walking into the theater. While younger eyes should definitely be shielded be from this, no one needs to see this while they're just minding their own business.

Highly recommend! This theater was my first visit to an independent movie theater and it was great. Selection of films is wonderful (independent, some larger releases, foreign) and they have live performances (readings, I think some concerts) too. Lovely place to spend an evening!

The theater itself is very nice and all of the staff were friendly and helpful.

The seating is kind of weird, hard to find your seats without an usher. Once seated you are so crammed in that getting up for a beverage or to use the bathroom is nearly impossible.

Also you must pay money to "become a member" just to buy a drink, which seems pretty ridiculous.

Gave it 5 stars cuz we saw Melissa Etheridge there. We love her!!

Great place to watch a movie and don't forget to grab your special issue groundcover on your way in or out for ONLY 10 dollars

It was fun how the guy played the piano before the movie started. Very unique and different. The building is beautiful and you feel quite classic being there. If I lived closer I would see shows there regularly. It reminds me of the Sun theater in GL, but with pizazz. Hopefully I can return again one day.

Nice theater but the seats in all salons are not as comfortable.

This is an amazingly beautiful and well kept historic venue. Walking in felt almost like stepping back in time. The staff is all amazing and polite, they genuinely seem to love this place and the community around it. They really set this place apart from other theaters, right down to the organ player as a before movie entertainment. This is a must visit place for tourist and michigander alike.

Enjoying the organ music at the Michigan Theater while waiting for the main feature is always a fun experience! Clean historical theater with friendly staff. No assigned seats. Reasonable priced concessions. Support local theaters!

Very classy/historical feel to it. Lots of different-sized theaters with different feels you them. Gotta say, the pipe organ is pretty cool to catch, if it's playing :)

The crown jewel if 1920s movie theaters in southeast Michigan. Three screening rooms for n one building. The full experience is any movie shown in the main theater with a pre-show organ concert. Be sure to go up to the front before the movie starts and look at the whole room with your back to the screen. Gorgeous!
