My wife and I woke up last Sunday morning to our dog Mario shaking and moaning with stomach pain. So we took him (and his brother Luigi. They go everywhere together) to Metropolitan. Not only are they very professional, but they are very friendly and easy to talk to. With Covid procedures in place, we stayed in the car as a young lady came out to get Mario. Mario took to her immediately. The doctor ran tests and gave some meds. We took Mario home and in 24 hours he was back to wrestling with his brother. We couldn't be more happy.
In addition, while we were in the parking lot waiting for Mario to come out, a car pulled up next to us with a couple who was obviously upset. Sadly, their dog had passed away and was in the back seat of the car. We witnessed 3 young ladies come out with a stretcher. In a gentle and caring manner, the ladies moved the dog on the stretcher and positioned him in a respectful manner on the cot and took him inside. It was upsetting to see, but how they treated the dog and family restored my faith in humanity. Hats off to all of you for helping our furry children and truly caring. You are all wonderful.

I can t say enough positive things about the team at Metro. Specifically, Dr Suvannavejh and Dr. Tumielewicz along with their ER team provided amazing care for our beloved Merlin. Thank you for being so compassionate and understanding.

My cat has a terminal heart condition and will need to take the same medication for the rest of her life. Whenever my pharmacy calls to request a refill, their message is not returned. Additionally, when speaking with the cardiology vet technician, they were unable to explain how this medication works for my cat and basically told me she would die. Pets are our kids too! This would not be acceptable from a pediatrician and should not be the l bel of service received from a veterinary specialist.

I highly recommend Metropolitan Vet - we ended up there in an emergency situation with our cat, who ended up needing surgery. The staff members and doctors were all amazing - very friendly, took their time answering all of our many questions, showing us what they saw on x-rays, and interacting with our cat. Thorough discharge instructions, what to expect, etc. and the follow up was amazing! They called just to check up on how our cat was doing!!

My son discovered our dog had been hurt, had a puncture wound on his right side around his ribs. My regular vet was closed, so after a quick call to let them know I was coming in we hopped in the car. Was a quick ride from Limerick. Once in the office they quickly assessed his injury and were able to administer treatment. Very caring techs / doctors. Am glad to know this place is here now should I ever need their services again.

I have seen five different veterinarian specialists with my cats and I have always received excellent care. I have always been treated with respect and and I trust them to do their best for my animals. I would have had to drive to Penn in Philadelphia without Metropolitan and that is very, very difficult. I have been to Penn in the past and the care at Metropolitan is equal. Metropolitan gives me peace of mind that I am doing my best for my animals that mean so much to me. I know that the costs to run a 24/7 veterinary hospital with so many doctors and nurses involved is expensive. I struggle to pay many times but do not think they are in business to cheat people and I appreciate everything that has been done for my animals.

Metro -Vet is FANTASTIC!! Everyone there is so nice. Dr. Schwab and his staff treated my cat Charlie like he belonged to them. They all were very professional, yet down to earth. I was spoken to in words that I could understand. Dr. Schwab told me the good news I wanted to hear. My furbaby will be O.K. I give this animal hospital a 5 star rating. I will recommend it to my family and friends. I THANK YOU and my Charlie THANKS YOU!! P.S. We were seen at the exact time of our appointment! How awesome is that!!!

I had to take my dog here because of a fractured tooth that ended up needing to be pulled. It's an hour drive and I was nervous with him going in alone but they were great with calling and letting me know everything. His surgery went smoothly and he recovered quickly. Went back for his recheck and had the same great service. If my dog ever needs something that his normal vet doesn't provide, I will definitely look to this place again.

We took our Pomeranian Winnie down to MVA for a semi-urgent visit and we met Dr. Crossman, she reviewed Winnies case and was very compassionate with us and especially my wife who loves Winnie like no other. That is her baby. She told us that with her liver failure and her other medical issues that she strongly urged us to make her comfortable. She was by far more compassionate than any other Veterinarian I have ever met. Thank you Dr. Crossman you area gem

My 12 year old puggle needed surgery for her torn CCL, and Dr. Wolf got us in the day after our consultation. She is now 7 weeks post-op and has been completely back to normal for 2 weeks. She doesn't limp at all! The surgery cost less than quote (though still quite a bit of money). It was worth every penny!

Took my little girl, Gladys, to the neurologist at Metropolitan. It always helps that I got a positive diagnosis, I'm sure I wouldn't have been feeling like writing a review much if she were really sick. That doesn't change the level of service I received, though.

One of the things I appreciate about a vet most is them not treating me as if I am stupid, or that I don't know my dog. This vet was very informative, treated me as if I was an intelligent person who could understand what he was saying, and gave me as much information as I could possibly digest about what to look for and be concerned about. He was recommended by the cardiologist from my vet's office, the cardiologist also works at Metropolitan(he visits several vet offices in the area on different days of the week). He asked me to make the appointment for a day when both he (the cardiologist) and the neurologist were in the office so if any discussion was needed, they could speak right then. I really appreciated that level of concern over the well being of my dog.

Sorry it was a long review, but I really was pleased with both vets that I dealt with at Metropolitan, and wanted you to be able to see details so you can make an informed decision if you're reading my review!

Our dear Ryely needed emergency ,immediate care and we contacted Metro Vet Hospital and we are so glad we did. They took him in immediately and constantly gave us updates on their findings and how they were going to treat him.His condition improved and we got him home after 1 night at the hospital. We know now an exact diagnosis and they have given us an exact method of treatment. Thanks to all who helped getting Ryely back on track to living a daily comfortable life.

HORRIBLE!!!!!! Let me start off by saying the people at the facility are very nice caring people. However they definitely lack some basic medical knowledge. OK so on with the story. I have a cat which my son named Polka. Polka had a feeding tube placed in him about 3 weeks ago due to him having fatty liver disease. After the tube was placed in our cat he hasn't quite been the same. Polka started having issues walking, (he was very wobbly), laying down and he had severe drooling. I started doing some of my own research and after doing a lot of reading, his symptoms to me sounded like he was deficient in Thiamine (Vitamin B1). Last Friday June 10th 2016 my cats health took a drastic down hill spiral, he wasnt able to walk, he was incoherent and was having neurological issues. So I immediately took him to my primary Vet. I voiced my concern to my Vet about the Thiamine deficiency and requested him to give the cat a Thiamine Hydrochloride injection. The doctor did not seem to think that was the issue and gave Polka other medications. The following morning Polka's condition got even worse, he was not moving at all and was pretty much a vegetable. I then took him to Metropolitan Veterinary Associates. I again voiced my concern about the thiamine deficiency. The doctor did not seem to think the was the problem either. The doctor suspected Polka was at the end of liver failure or he had feline infectious peritonitis. The doctor made a recommendation of putting my cat down or placing him in ICU. I was quoted a price from $3000-$4000 for the ICU services and the doctor said his chances of pulling through were very slim. After already spending roughly $3000 on Polka this past month there is no way I could afford to do so. The next day I decided to take matters into my own hands. I went to cvs and picked up a bottle of vitamin b1 and immediately began giving my cat the vitamin through his feeding tube. Guess what? after 3 days of Polka getting the b1 he started perking up. On day 4 he was holding his head up on his own and sitting up by himself. On the 5th day was trying to stand up and take baby steps. Today is now the 7th day and he can finally walk normal on his own. I am totally disgraced with my primary vet and Metro. I spent an extra $2000 for all the unnecessary testing because some so called medical professionals could not diagnose a damn vitamin deficiency, that I diagnosed and treated myself for about $10. The most sad part is, my cat almost died and both practices suggested euthanasia. It makes me wonder how many innocent pets have died due to being misdiagnosed.

It is extremely important to us that there is an outstanding facility such as Metropolitan Vet to help us in our times of emergencies. From the first phone calls at 3am, to being able to pick up our baby during business hours at noon, everyone, and I mean everyone is kind, considerate and takes the time to look you in the eye and have the patience (especially with distraught parents) to put you at ease and to help you find solutions to help your pet (aka babies). There ares not enough words to say how wonderful this facility is and how it gives us such peace of mind to know they are in our community. I am happy to say that we only use this facility for emergencies and really don't want to have to come here but knowing it's here we always know our babies get the best of care and that all their staff have one goal in mind, to get your baby home and well. I thank you all for the care you provided, especially Dr. Buckman.

We had to take our 10 year old Affenpinsher, Ruby to Metropolitan Veterinary Associates Monday evening, May 14th because our 10 year old furry child wasn't able to stand, walk etc.
The next morning they found a ruptured cervical disc with an MRI and performed corrective surgery right after.
Dr. Schwab called us with an update every day of the week she had to stay there.
The care and gentle touch with Ruby, our Affenpinsher. the amazing service to my husband and I, plus the wonderful staff from the front desk through all of the techs and doctors is why we will Always think of them while Ruby's playing tug of war with a toy, running in the yard and just snoring in bed.

5 stars aren't enough, 100 stars would be better for This review.

My dog developed a melanoma last March. It wasa progressive tumor and my local vet was wonderful in doing surgery to remove it but he was not confident that the margins were clean. None of the other specialty vet hospitals like University of PA were operational or would see new patients. Met Vet was the only one that could and would see him. It was over an hour drive, back to my old neighborhood but it was literally a lifesaver. They saw him right away, did another surgery to clean the margins which was more aggressive and started my dog on a vaccine treatment. HIs prognosis for just surgery was 3-6 months but today he did a chest scan and is still cancer free. At some point I expect that it will come back, but anything beyond this point is a ll gravy and who knows (?) So THANKFUL that they were responsive when we were all in lockdown. U of P may have been where I thought I should take my dog but Met Vet is where I know that I should have and other pets will benefit from this experience. THANK YOU!

I have had several cats treated at Met Vet. I know they are always in the best of hands. The staff, especially the doctors but the nurses and everyone, not only are they brilliant but super down to earth and communicate in such a clear, understandable way. They are truly the best for any emergency or any veterinary specialty needed. I am glad they are close by!

I highly recommend Metropolitan Veterinary Associates. Within the past 3 years, I've had to take 2 of my 4 dogs to MVA for unrelated events, one of which was a major emergency. The staff are amazing - from the front desk receptionist to the nurses to the doctors. Everyone is truly exceptional. The waiting room is big and clean and has a large aquarium, a TV and plenty of seating. There are plenty of exam rooms and several different types of specialists on staff to help with any illness or injury. During the emergency situation, my dog had to stay overnight for 2 days and they even let me stop by before work to visit him while he recuperated in the little oxygen box. They gave me regular updates and were just fantastic! They also accept Care Credit which is helpful if you need to finance your fur baby's visit. I'm so fortunate to have MVA right around the corner when I need them!

I adopted a Bulldog rescue pup and called to inquire about pricing. The woman was very short and quite rude. My bulldog baby needs to have palate surgery and I inquired about their prices. She said a minimum of 3000.00! I called 3 other vet hospitals, including University of Penn and they ranged from 800- 1500.

If your employees are rude and your prices are insane, you will start to lose business. Guess they didn't realize, I am very involved in local pet care! Word of mouth travels far!

She spent all the time with me I needed to understand what was going to happen and it all went perfect! I definitely recommend this Dr. and the practice for complicated surgeries, or emergencies This is their specialty, and it shows.

I have been bringing my dachshunds to Metropolitan Hosp for many many years. In an emergency crisis you need to know and feel assured your family member will be in the best hands to care for them. Everyone treats your pets as their own family member. From the compassionate and caring person at the front desk to the doctors who respond, examine and diagnose your pets illness. Dr McGough was Maggie's dr during this visit and I want to thank het and everyone associated with this visit who helped diagnose her illness, and bring her to a recovery where I could bring my little girl back home with me.

If I could give a million stars for our experience...

If I could give a million stars for our experience with Metropolitan Vet Associates, that would never do justice to how they saved our little cockapoo, Buddy! Buddy is our World and we couldn t imagine losing him before it was his time to leave us. Little Buddy was very sick having gone back and forth to our Vet and then a horrible experience at another Vet hospital in Malvern, Pa. We did our research and found what we believe is one of the best Neurologist s/Neurosurgeon s in the World of Veterinary medicine. Dr. Lipitz saved our little boy through a spinal surgery procedure and fixing the disc herniation causing severe pain and discomfort for little Buddy. I have been around medicine for 25 years, and have never met a physician who was so thorough in reviewing an entire history of a patients medical history. The fact that Dr. Lipitz was definitive in her diagnosis and treatment made us more confident in her ability to get little Buddy back to his normal self. Dr. Lipitz was also able to find a corneal ulceration that our vet missed when our vet examined little Buddy. There are no words to describe the level of care that Dr. Lipitz and her team provided for Buddy, but we are forever grateful! The entire experience with Metropolitan was so pleasant in that they gave us updates on Buddy every step of the way and were the most compassionate. Vet care is always a concern when it comes to finances, however there is no doubt that this hospital provides the highest level of care without doing unnecessary procedures and we feel that the hospital was extremely fair in the cost of the care that they provided for little Buddy. Metropolitan did everything they could do to minimize our charges without compromising the level of care. Today we picked up our little boy and just got home from what was a very long 10 days of watching little Buddy go through so much. Buddy is doing phenomenal and I cannot thank Metropolitan enough for saving our little boy! This place is the best of the best and we are so grateful for the entire team lead by Dr, Lipitz!! Please consider this review before going anywhere else for your loved pet.

Wow! Just wow! I'm blown away by the professionalism, kindness and service we received for our dog Dexter. We were scheduled a consult in less than 24 hours of calling, Dr Schwab addressed our dog immediately AND we were told by another vet we needed an expensive surgery and instead at Metropolitan, Dexter was examined and properly treated avoiding surgery and treatment that wasn't really necessary. Thank you so much Dr Schwab and Team!!!

After a series of traumatic experiences taking my best friend of nearly 13 years for mast cell tumor in the intestine, I was recommended to give MVA when seeking for second opinion and potentially treatment options. I am very thankful for the treatments that both myself and my pet have received from the front desk to the nurse and specialist. As other reviewers have mentioned, you'll get to bypass the students and residents who have the knowledge of frying egg which makes a huge difference for your pet's well-being. Unfortunately, the prognosis for my pet was poor and its health deteriorate at a very rapid rate. I had to make the most difficult decision of putting it down and the only facility/clinic that came to mind for me to send my best friend across the rainbow bridge was MVA. The staff and specialists were extremely sympathetic and made the whole process easy for me and my pet. Please take your pet here and avoid other small clinics and teaching hospitals (ahem, Penn). It's sad for me to write this review and for the circumstance I think MVA deserves 5 stars for both the quality of service and price.

They had great COVID safety protocols in place. Triage nurse came out promptly and took care of my dog. I waited only an hour during a very busy time and the emergency vet called me to talk through her thought processes and procedures. She explained everything to me and involved me in the decision-making process. She laid out the timeline for the visit. At the end, the discharge instructions were given in great detail. I have used Metropolitan many times over the last 10 years and they have always been great. I trust the care of my dog immensely at this place.

I have been bringing my dog to the ophthalmology department for 8 years; over that time, I have also utilized Metropolitan's emergency services and had a consult with orthopedics. Every encounter is top notch. I absolutely trust the health of my dog to the excellent veterinarians and staff at Metropolitan. A special callout to Amanda Corr in ophthalmology who has helped manage my dog's congenital eye condition--he has a rare and somewhat complex condition, yet Dr. Corr is consistently a valuable source of information and guidance. They are also doing a great job managing staff and patient safety during the pandemic.

I had a really great, positive experience in dealing with a terrifying pet emergency. My cat was witnessed eating a plastic straw. Dr. Chamberlain really took the time to explain all the options and answered my bazillion questions. The nurses were wonderful when I called for updates after my cat had surgery. Even the front desk staff were incredibly empathetic and helpful. I have used other vet emergency hospitals in the past. I hope I never have to use an emergency vet in my future, but if I did - it will be Metropolitan.

We came to MVA two hours after a vet at PETS ER told us everything was normal. Thank goodness we did! This place is FANTASTIC. Our dog recently had to have his eyes removed due to glaucoma and both Dr. Amanda Corr and Dr. Stephen Gross were amazing. From the moment I dropped him off (in tears mind you!) the staff comforted me and assured he was in the best hands...and he was! The day of surgery they called me before/after the procedure and with several updates throughout the day as he was in recovery. Yes, the prices are high but if you want the best for your dog, then this is the place for you. If ever I was worried or felt there might be a problem, I could call and one of the doctors would call me back. At most animal hospitals a tech calls you but not here. The vets know you are worried and need a little peace of mind. Every follow up we've had and every staff member we encountered were wonderful. You can tell they truly love animals and have their best interests (as well as yours!) at heart.

When my dog experienced what I thought was a life threatening event on Easter Sunday, Metro Vet was the only place open. Throughout the years I have taken my animals to metropolitan in times of emergency. The staff has always been so compassionate, friendly, accommodating... I could go on and on. My cat was recently there and received such wonderful care. The doctors called me multiple times each day giving me updates which helped ease my mind. They were very honest in regards to treatment options/prognoses/cost and answered any questions I had. I absolutely recommend this veterinary hospital. I brought one of my feral cats to be seen for a hacking cough, during which the tongue was extended, and difficulty in swallowing. Some of the results were noticeable from the owners' reactions. The compassion surrounding each pet/owner was visible.

It has been six months since our girl Peyton had her surgeries at Metropolitan and after playing with her tonight I had reach out to say thanks. She has had TPLO surgeries on both of her hind legs in the last year and now she is like a puppy again! She has more than recovered from the surgeries, she is full of energy, able to run again, and best of all shows no signs of pain and hasn't limped in months. Special thanks to Dr. Schwab and his team for everything they did for our four legged friend!

This place is great, our dog memphis has a suspected oral cancer and our primary vet advised us to find a veterinary oral surgeon. Initially we tried to find one closer to home, but with several days of messages not returned from another emergency vet, that led us back to Metropolitan. Dr. Durand and her assistant Sarah were great with Memphis, as he is a very nervous pup, they took their time to reassure him(and us) that he is in good hands. This is our 2nd time with a great experience, as Dr. Corr from ophthalmology also was excellent to work with in previous years. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK TEAM!

They are all polite and carrying people but the bottom line is they are all in it for the money factory. Pull on your heart strings and manipulate your love of your pet.

Our last dog had cancer and they convinced us to have surgery, mind you $8500. Our girl was put through that trauma and then passed away after all clear diagnosis by them three months later. Same ending for her w/o the surgery and trauma.

Currently our last girl hurt herself and I couldn't stand to see her in pain, shaking and crying, so again I took her to the ER. Diagnosed her with a severe soft tissue injury. Pain pills and sedative and stated to return in 5-7 days if no significant improvement. So thinking its my fault for not asking but you all know how relieved you are after not hearing worse than could have been. No anti-inflammatory, no subtle bracing, just come back for further consult in time. Hence, money machine. Everything I've read and consulted a friend of ours who is a vet, soft tissue injuries need at least 14 days for healing and then take it easy with further exercise. They didn't even think that far ahead, just come back in a much to early recommendation.

We know we all love our pets but this place is simply a money sucking bunch of specialists sucking and pulling on our pet owners emotions. If at all possible stick to your neighborhood vet. Unfortunately if it's an emergency they have you by your heart strings.

My husband and I brought our 1 1/2 yo GSD to see Dr Nannos for possible left hind ligament tear. The staff there are wonderful in dealing with a not so cooperative large dog. Dr Nannos was exceptional he did a full orthopedic exam on her and did the appropriate xrays. Upon his findings he then instructed us on how to take care of her issue. We would highly recommend Dr Nannos on so many levels. He listened to all of our questions but most importantly he made sure Tess was getting the proper care . He wasn t so quick to do surgery which I found to be amazing!! He than gave us a treatment plan hoping this issue would resolve on its own and so far so good!! If for some reason she needs surgery down the road you better believe he s our first and only choice!! Thank you sooo much Dr Nannos!

Our dog was referred for pneumonia. I was hesitant to have her so far away from us, but I know now she was where she needed to be to recover. She was treated promptly and compassionately from the beginning. We got her home thanks to the great care. If hospitals for humans were able to treat humans the way Metropolitan treated my dog, health care would be in a better place. My only two complaints if I had to find something would be the transition between one provider to the next wasn t smooth. My second complaint was about the isolation status of my dog. We couldn t see her for the four days she was hospitalized. It was difficult on us and her. I understand that they re trying to prevent the spread of infectious diseases to other patients. I work in health care. It doesn t stop humans from visiting other humans. We wash hands. We gown up and wear masks. We visit briefly and wash again when done. They could ve allowed us to enter in one entrance to see her and leave immediately when finished through the same means to go straight home. They did send us pictures and videos to try to help, which was very thoughtful. I got lots of updates too, to try to help with not being able to visit. The care was phenomenal.

We had to bring our dog into the ER for some neurological signs that had progressed. We went here as the other referral didn t have any neurological assessments available until early November. Metro Vet now has two neuro specialists so if he needed be assessed it would be the next day or so. We were so impressed with the staff and Dr. James Buckman. He explained things so that you can understand what was going on, things to look out for, and he was very kind. This experience exceeded our expectations in many ways and we want to continue to bring our dogs here now.

I first brought my dog Prince here when he went into heart failure. They cared for him for 4 days and gave me a few more months with him. They called us every day sometimes twice a day and were available to us any time we needed them. Last week I had to put Prince down, and I brought him back to Metro. They were very kind to my wife and I and took very good care of our him. A week later the cardiologist and her assistants sent us a card where they each wrote a note about their experiences with Prince. They treated him like he was one of their own. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my emergency needs of the rest of my dogs. Thank you Dr. Poad (Cardiologist), Angela (Cardiologist Assistant), and Megan (Cardiologist Nurse).

I can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was with the doctors and staff at MVA. They provided excellent care for our dog and they communicated with us every step of the way. This was our second time working with them and both experiences were great. I highly recommend them.

Our girl Penelope started vomiting up everything on the morning of 10/11. After a series of calls to poison control to rule out accidental ingestion of the chemical used to spray our trees the day before it was suggested we take Penny to an emergency care facility. I called Metropolitan and they wanted to see her right away. They were kind and compassionate and Dr Chow was great. It turned out that Penny ate a small rock that should pass in a couple days but unfortunately we also found out she has an aggressive cancer and we are heart broken but Dr Chow patiently explained our options and did not make us feel pressured at all to decide at that very moment to decide Penny s fate. We will enjoy her for as long as we can and cross the inevitable bridge when we get to it.

I have a 4 y/o shepherd mix, he was sick recently took him to our usual Vet and thought things had cleared up. Just recently (last 24hrs) he came down with the same kind of symptoms only worse my vet was closed and I had numerous people tell me to go here ...couldn t be happier with the service they provided. My dog is fearful/anxious which can lead him to being a little nasty in new places or with new people so we were fearful of leaving him overnight for care bc of this. Dr.Gaunt was the best - he eased our fears about the care our dog was going to receive and was thorough with explaining everything. Staff was great when I called for updates and the front desk was pleasant and making getting in and out of there a breeze. Would highly recommend coming here if you need emergency or after hour care for your pup!

This was a situation I never thought I would be in...

This was a situation I never thought I would be in. Just a back story, my pup ate something he shouldn t have without me knowing. He became very nauseous, and anxious over a 24hr period. I knew something was wrong, and took him to an emergency vet close to home without consulting anyone. This emergency vet (not my usual vet, and NOT Metropolitan Veterinary Associates), took X-rays and said his stomach looks a little distended, but there is no obvious obstruction.

Fast forward 48 hrs later and I can finally get him into my usual vet (still not Metropolitan Veterinary Associates). They take their own X-rays, and clear as day, he has an obstruction in his stomach. Infuriated with the emergency vet (NOT Metropolitan Veterinary Associates) telling me the opposite, I ask my vet what s next. I was told since my pup was not showing signs of immediate need for action and to go home and maybe we can get him to pass it...

That night at 12 in the morning my dog did not pass it, he began to show signs of distress, vomiting, pacing, etc. I call my usual vet s personal line and ask what I should do...

It is at this point she tells me about Metropolitan Veterinary associates. I don t live close by, about 75 minutes away to be exact, but my vet tells me if I am up for the drive, it will be the most favorable option to me....let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it.

If I had 100 emergency vets within a mile of my home, and metropolitan was even 2+ hours away and I needed them, 10 time out of 10 I would pass every other emergency vet to go to them.

They are so compassionate about you and your dog during the entire process. It might have taken 15 minutes from the moment my pup walked into their building for them to have diagnosed and given me an update on the next steps, which included emergency surgery. Mind you, there were several other cars waiting in the parking lot, and they were still able to make a speedy assessment.

My dog is very large, and very anxious, and they assured me they were taking good care of him and constantly made him feel at home. They re not a vet you need to constantly check in on, but they will be adamant about calling you to give you updates. They will do their best to treat your dog like their own

I guess if you take nothing else away from my story, take this. No one wants to be in a situation where they need an emergency vet in the middle of the night, and no one wants their pet to go through surgery. Metropolitan Veterinary Associates took amazing care of my pet. I will be forever great full for what they did for my dog. I hope I never need them again, but if I do, they will be the only place I will turn to, no matter how far I need to travel to get there

The staff is so nice and doctor Schwab did great work on Bella removing her MCT and her TPLO surgery. Everyone in the hospital is caring for your pet like it is theirs and that makes me feel very confident that the best treatment that can be provided, is being given. Best experience I have had at a 24hr vet care establishment.

Do not EVER trust these people with your pet. They...

Do not EVER trust these people with your pet. They are money hungry, irresponsible, and will do countless things to your pet when they DO NOT need it. We took our cat here earlier in the month because we believed he had a hair ball obstruction, he was not eating or anything. When we took him there, he had to stay 2 nights there and the bill was OUTRAGEOUS. Let me start off by stating, the x rays they took of him were fine but you can t see a hair ball on x rays. Ok, why didn t you do an ultrasound? Fur can certainly show up on an ultrasound better than an x ray because x rays only show the shadow of the hairball. But no! You know what they said? The x rays look fine but we want to do surgery to make sure . This did not make any sense to me but we were concerned for our pet and wanted to do the best for him. The way they spoke to us made us feel like he truly needed the surgery. We were so wrong for trusting them. They opened him up, looked inside, and of course like the x rays showed, everything was fine. $3500 to open him up, look inside him, and close him. They also had the audacity to upcharge our bill $30 for stapling his stomach. Shouldn t that be included in the surgical cost or were you just gonna send him home with his stomach still cut open? Idiotic. They then started telling us he should stay another night because his breathing is bad . What? He was not wheezing or panting or anything. Charged another couple thousand dollars. The total cost of all of this reached almost $6,000!!!! We went against their advice the third day because they said he s doing a lot better but we want to keep him another night to monitor him . If he s better and his breathing is fine, why keep him? They then tried manipulating us on the phone saying that he has a risk of getting a collapsed lung and dying. We took him home that night, And He had absolutely no problem breathing....not sure where they made that story up. He was eating again, drinking water, playing. Next day comes and no one from that awful hospital had the courtesy to call us to ask how he was doing. If he was at SUCH a high risk that you state, shouldn t your priority be to call the next day to check on him? Fast forward to a week and a half later, his one staple was coming out so we took him back to get it fixed. Instead of removing that staple and replacing it, the nurse shoved the staple in so tight and hard it was stuck in his skin. My vet could not get it out and my cat was SCREAMING in pain. His stomach was red and swollen. I immediately got on the phone after the vet and spoke with a supervisor at metropolitan about what they did to this poor cat. You re a vet hospital, why can t you put a staple in properly? Not even an apology was given to me on the phone. Instead when I went back, THEY TRIED GETTING ME TO PAY MORE MONEY!!! They said well we want your permission we want to give him an injection of methadone so we can get the staple out . An injection for one staple??? I immediately said no! We are not paying you to fix your own mistake! I then got called back and the doctor said the staple came right out and had no problem getting it out. So basically these people would ve had me pay for an injection that he didn t even need in the first place. However, this situation makes me question it....they would ve rather injected my cat with methadone rather than putting a topical numbing solution on the area. I know Every hospital has a topical numbing because I ve worked at 2 animal hospitals since I was 15.... This practice is an absolute inhumane and torturous practice whose only concern is making money. You took extreme advantage of the fact that my family was concerned for our pet and used that to get thousands of dollars out of us. Not ONE employee apologized about botching that staple and not one person took responsibility for the negligence of our cat....SHAME ON ALL OF YOU!!! . I will be reporting this establishment to the American Veterinary Association and for the sake of the well being of your pet , STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

Amazing and caring staff. Patient, understanding, and concerned about their patient and her people particularly since we couldn't visit. My 11.5 year old Lab, Molly, is a cardiac patient at Metropolitan had emergency, lifesaving surgery after being admitted to the ER for a non-cardiac issue. I'm incredibly grateful to my Vet at Banfield in Montgomeryville for sending us to the ER and to Dr. Chamberlin and the staff at Metropolitan for saving my sweet girl and sending her home. She is recovering beautifully.

Excellent success with 2 CCL surgeries for my dog and periodic emergency visits for my aging dogs. Very caring staff - I believe my pets are getting excellent medical treatment an a lot of TLC while they are being treated and recovering. Not inexpensive - it's a specialty facility so you are going to pay for this expertise - but for me it's been worth it knowing I am getting the best care possible.

Dr. Chamberlain and all of the staff at Metropolitan saved our Gretel's life on Sunday. After getting horrible healthcare at Quakertown vet hospital our beautiful little girl almost died from a gallbladder that burst. Metropolitan quickly assessed what was wrong and operated without delay. They cared for her and watched over her like she was their own. I will be forever grateful and thankful for this wonderful hospital. They are outstanding in healthcare far above the rest!

I have been to MET a handful of times and there were situations they handled well and others were handled mediocre. Never a horrible experience but sometimes it was not exceptional. My most recent experience with my lab was no different. I took her on a Monday for excessive vomitting and a growth on her side that had recurred from 6 weeks prior. Initial results indicated a mast cell tumor ( which I was previusly told by the oncologist there that it was not) and they gave her a steroid and anti histamine to reduce swelling. The ER doctor was pretty good and explained what was going on but I was not 100% confident he was giving me the correct diagnosis as I was told by the specialist only a month prior that there was no mast cell tumor. Fast forward to Thursday and we are back to the ER with respiratory distress. They took her right in which I appreciated and told me they wanted to keep her overnight. My girl had went into kidney failure and the doctor (which was the same from Monday) called me at 1230 am to tell me that which I thought was great. We talked about everything going on and he was open and honest with all the issues going on that my girl was likely to have a poor outcome. I agreed as she was 12.5. We talked about euthanasia and the costs to attempt to treat everything going on. Friday we decided to euthanize our girl (such a gut wrenchhing decision) and the people there were unbelievably kind and supportive during the whole process. Everyone from the front desk to the nurse administering the euthanasia process. They also give you a private entrance to attend the euthanasia which made me feel so much better that I did not have to walk past a million people balling my eyes out. They did not charge me for the exam fee of 155 when I took her Thursday nor did they charge me for the euthanasia procedure which showed me that money was not at the top of their list and that my girl was their top priority.

There was very little waiting and the receptionists were great! The vet was super knowledgeable and comforting in this situation. The facilaties were very clean and well kept. I would definitely recommend this to anyone in need of emergency care for their pet.

Our first time to MVA and we will definitely come back in the future! I love the amount of doctors on staff, it lets me know that our pup is in very capable hands, no matter what. We brought our Mocha in for what we thought was some kind of intestinal problem. Upon arrival, we called the front desk and one of the associates came outside to get her. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we were not allowed in with her, but I know she was cared for just the same. We sat in the car, but it was bearable due to the many updates we received from the staff. Dr. Gaunt examined our pup and her x-rays, and helped us with the next steps. Thank you all!

Our Louie the cat was having some serious urinary tract issues. We walked in without an appointment and within three minutes he was being seen and evaluated. We were given a complete explanation with instructions for care, as well as to what to look for in his recovery. If he has any recurring problems this is where he will be seen again. Thank you all for your care and compassion. I have two other family members who sought treatment here and the experience has always been the same- absolutely fantastic!

I am writing on my wife's account. I am Allan Goldberg who brought in our dog Catch this past Thursday as she became lame after playing hard with her boyfriend. When one walks into MVA one is immediately impressed by the very modern nature of the facility as well as its cleanliness from the waiting area to the exam rooms. The entire staff was very kind, friendly and professional. In particular Dr. Gaunt was absolutely the best (as a clinician myself my antenna are always out). He was warm, professional, gentle with Catch and thorough in his evaluation of her and then provided good detailed feedback to me. He was dependent on his examination of her and his clinical judgement that she had a soft tissue injury (no need for X-rays or the like). Guess what I am pleased to report, he is just fine now!! Thank you MVA, I will continue to sing your praises!!

We rushed our 8.5 year old Springer Spaniel down to Metropolitan last Saturday emergently with a high fever and unknown condition. The care she received was the best. Unfortunately, she worsened and it was time to let her go, but the staff (from Emergency Medicine Vet to nurses to reception) were caring, professional and truly with us each step of the way. You could sense a true connection between the staff and our sweet girl. This visit was in addition to an emergency spinal surgery done here 5 years ago which we were also pleased with their care at that time. While our visits were never under good conditions and our girl is no longer with us, there is no other vet we would want to have treat our pets during this time.
