Metro Screen Review

First of all. Great Screens, Good Product. Word of Warning. Measurements are very tricky. Old screens and window sizes vary with the same side of the window, causing inaccurate measurements. I measured in several different spots on my old screens / width of windows opening. ...and my screens came 1/16th too large. They almost did not fit. But the good news is. With a little effort, they all slipped in to place, with an added bonus that now they fit very snug, thus no bugs get in. But I need to be very careful taking them out.

I looked online and talked with Metro Screenworks about their products. I ordered 4 assembled sliding patio screen doors; 3 of the Hercules and 1 Superior over the phone. The next day Metro Screenworks had charged my banking account an additional $879.60 for someone else's order. I immediately sent an email to the person I dealt with and stated it needed to be reversed immediately and I request reimbursement of any bank fees I get charged. The person I dealt with emailed back and stated he reversed the additional charge and agreed to reimburse any fees.

It took several days to get the additional charge returned into my account. I had over $300.00 in fees and spent several hours doing the leg work to rectify the situation. My bank forgave all but $48.00 of the fees. I sent an email to Metro Screenworks requesting reimbursement for lost wages( self employed) and bank fee reimbursement.

I received the products I ordered. One of the Hercules had two defective rollers. I called Metro Screenworks customer service and was told they would send replacement parts and that I would have to disassemble the door to repair. Wait......I purchased ASSEMBLED doors. I should not have to disassemble the door to replace DEFECTIVE parts. I requested a new door. I made sure they knew which one to remake. Customer service said they would let me know. The next thing I hear from them is when parts arrive to replace the defective ones WITH NO INSTRUCTIONS! I called back and was emailed a video link. I did not have to disassemble the door!! Customer service didn't know their own products! I also requested payment to repair their defective door.

To sum this all up. The sales manager agreed to reimburse me the cost of what I paid for one of the sliding screen doors, quote " as compensation for your time and energy in correcting the accounting error" end quote. I replied back to him about the remaining balance of $48.00 in bank fees. His reply back and I quote,"The $48.00 bank fee was not overlooked, we are only willing to refund you the price of one(1) Hercules series sliding screen door as compensation. We consider this matter closed" end quote. SO, I was promised reimbursement for bank fees and it did not happen. The customer service needs some work. The clients that received the sliding screen doors are satisfied.

I am not planning on using Metro Screenworks again. I can see why Metro Screenworks is not BBB accredited.

Be sure to measure accurately, and they will whisk your new custom-sized screen to you. It will arrive securely packaged, they take great care to make sure your screen won't be damaged in shipment. Customer service is excellent and they will work with you to get exactly the right accessories you need to attach your replacement screen to your existing door. These screens are exactly what we wanted. They are so well made and look wonderful on the enclosed deck I am so glad we ordered these, and the bettervue invisible screening is perfect. So I am placing a review because Metro has sent multiple requests for feedback, which is fine. But what is NOT cool is that the email asking for the feedback had a thumbs up and a thumbs down link. If you click on the thumbs down you go to a feedback form which does not go to Google for review but if you click thumbs up you are sent to Google to place your positive review. Seems someone at Metro marketing thought this would be a good way to stack the positive reviews and avoid the bad. Absolutely not cool and dishonest really.

Now on to the product and experience. The product was shipped quickly. The package was not damaged but the screen was warped and not true. Even when installed properly there is a small gap on one vertical side. It is borderline acceptable but the screen itself is not flat and has a ripple to it. Ironic because this is why my old aluminum frame screen was to be replaced with Metro s screen. To be fair I did not contact Metro to raise the issue. I don t know how they would have handled it. Maybe they would have made it right.

At any rate, the product is a good idea and the shipping was quick. Maybe the quality assurance could use a bump. I would probably not order again. YMMV.

UPDATE: that bend in the frame has just gotten worse on its own and now has a gap o the side, which is the reason I purchased this screen to begin with. So will contact Metro Screenworks to see if they ll make it right and update my review.

I was concerned about ordering screens over the internet but everything worked perfectly and the price was great compared to having a company come out to my house to create the screens.

Everything was great except one of my screen cross bars was bent in shipping. It installed into window with a little effort. The other screen was perfect. I wish I could give 5 stars. I don't think it was their fault except maybe more stuffing in the box when shipping? It seemed like it was packed well and should not have been bent.

Ordering was simple and delivery was prompt. Pre-drilled holes, for most common door openings, would have cut the installation time significantly. A small quantity of wood and sheet metal screws to mount would have made for a complete package / kit.

Retracting screen door works great. The fit was perfect and the installation was easy.

Excellent product. Made exactly to my specifications. Shipped right to my front door. Doesn't get any easier than that.

The screens were great; cut to fit quite accurately; speedy delivery. My only concern is that there was not a wider array of colors for the frame.

Strong cat proof screening. Cat can "rock climb" the screens with no damage. Easy to work with.

Metro Screenworks' pricing is a bit high. But if you want first time quality and precision fit, it's worth the extra price. The packing and shipping department does a superb job in getting the product to your home. I'd use Metro anytime.

I needed a custom screen door size. The kit was easy to assemble and the door fits great. Good service.

Beautiful double pane sat a good price. As a handyman I was able to easily remove the old foggy panes from the window and install the new panes - they sparkle!

I ordered porch panels in September of 2015 and have waited to write this review to make sure no quality or maintenance issues arose. We received four large panels, approximately 6 feet tall by 5 feet wide, but all were slightly different in fractions of an inch. All were perfect. We now love our breezeway which is nearly all screen. We are in a heavily wooded area and have not had any issues.

screens were durable and perfect for a screen porch. The frame had some scratches but nothing to worry about as they are outside.

The screen took a while to arrive, but it fit perfectly and looks great! I considered replacing the window, but with the new screen it looks so much better.

I ordered 2 new sliding screen doors with pet screen and I have a mid century modern custom built house and the windows are not standard sized. So I was a bit nervous that they were going to fit and they arrived and fit like a glove! They work and look perfect. Very happy!

Metro Screenworks did a great job in making quality screens for my windows. I had a few damaged screens and I carefully measured the dimensions, per their website instructions. The screens arrived within a few weeks, were well made, and really made the house look nicer. I would definitely use these guys again - well done!

Metro Screenworks was great to work with. They had products no one else had, Screen 100+" screening.
Delivery was prompt and with no mistakes.

I never rate anyone even if the product was fine and the customer service was good. However , I needed to post a review because of the customer service and patience they had with me on measurements. I m not handy and have no clue on how measure anything Let alone a window for a screen. Their easy to follow video is great. Their website was so helpful to me. I even sent the sales person screen shots of my tape measure around the window. I must have called them and emailed several times before I finally placed the order. I was so unsure of my measurements but they walked we through it and the screen was a perfect fit. It come packaged beautifully and was Incased in wood as if it was an expensive painting. I was very impressed with their packaging A+++++. I would also like to say that whom ever made the screen Paid attention to detail and that is was 100% perfect no scratches on the metal frame the screen was perfect everything was 100% A++++++++. Thank you to the technician and your craftsmanship.
If I ever need any more window screens I will definitely use Metro Screen from now on. I would also like to mention that I originally went into Lowe s for help with this window screen and they referred this company to me because they weren t able to order this particular style and size, they told me it was something that was Discontinued through Lowe s special order website.
I wish I could remember the salesperson that helped me with this order because he was soooo nice and patient with me.

Ordered a custom screen with an indentation for the door handle on a custom door. Took 2-months for them to manufacture. When I received the screen I was concerned about the visible quality of construction ie. gaps at joints. I took it anyways, only to discover that every dimension was 3/8-3/4" off, and wouldn't fit. They gave me my money back but refused to make another one correctly.

Nice quality screens, fast delivery, and fair price.

Thia was an easy transaction. They even give you instructions on how to measure. The screen I got fit my large upstairs wi dow perfectly

Overall good, although I have not installed them yet so durability will need to be watched. There were some scratches on the frames since the screens were not packaged at all I was surprised they were not more damaged.

Fantastic! I ordered storm windows & screens. They look great & were shipped on time. The shipper damaged one box of my order. I got an email the next day letting me know why the order wasn t complete.
They immediately started working on replacements which I received the next week.

I have another project coming up & will definitely use Metro Screenworks.

Ordered screen door unassembled with coastal wheels and it arrived undamaged. It seems like a well built door. Why not 5 stars?
1) Door lock (hard to use and doesn't work well)
2) Extra pieces in the parts bag with no idea what they are for
3) Extremely sharp edges. (could have use deburring)

Work and materials are good, but a little bit expensive.

The product I received was great (Hercules screen door kit), but the folks at Metro Screenworks don't seem to have any real organizational skills for online orders. I had to nudge them into giving me an update on my order's execution and shipping.

But worst of all, only half of my order showed up despite the full order being listed on the shipping invoice. I've now been in touch with them for two weeks to figure out where the second half of my order is, and I'm still no closer to having an answer from anyone at the company.

The products are fine, but at this point I'd go elsewhere with my business because this much chasing to find out the status of my order isn't worth the hassle.

I LOVE this Pet Screen! I ordered it back in 2017, and used it to enclose our small front porch. It is strong, easy to cut (but not tear), and highly see-through, has weathered storms, repeated cat incursions, and the panic of a storm fearing big dog, with no appreciable damage at all. I highly recommend it!

Our screen door fit very well, is durable and attractive. The ordering was pretty easy, it came promptly per the ESD we were given, the door was packaged well. We plan on ordering more products from this company.

Followed directions to add 1/4" to the measurement for a sliding screen door....joke is on me when the door arrives 1/4" too tall. MSI offered to send me two new pieces cut to fit for $90+ shipping (over 1/2 the original cost of the door). A refund was not offered...I've opted to throw it in the garbage and work with someone else. The material quality was average anyway, not remarkably better than the builder-grade slider that I am replacing. For the money just seek out a local window/door company or find something else.

I've ordered a few times from Metro Screenworks. The attention to detail is arguably their strongest asset. The user interface when ordering online allows you to truly dial in on exactly the dimensions needed for your screens. I ordered a larger screen for the front door...no corners were cut when packing and shipping. I recommend this business for replacing any screens around your home.

Great customer service. Good quality product. These were replacement screens and they are a better quality than the original ones.

I needed all new screens for a house rehab project, all very large and of a size not normally stocked anywhere locally. When I did find one that would have worked they priced out at nearly $40 a piece. Metro Screenworks was able to make the exact replacement and for half the price. Saved me a ton of work and money! I will always use them.

Product damaged, poor quality construction, no response from customer service. I am still waiting to hear back from Metro Screen Works about a screen damaged in shipping. Their initial suggestion: bend it back straight?! Manufactured with wrong materials, flimsy construction. My project is stalled while I wait for them to get back to me. DO NOT recommend!

Ordered a set of screens for the entire house, at a cost much more affordable than we would have guessed. While the product was shipped very securely, some screens were damaged in shipment, and the company took care of the problem. We're very happy to recommend them to others, and if need be (let's hope not!) we will be happy to order from them again (our original screens are 20 years old and falling apart).
