I am a cancer patient at Mercy since 2015. How do you possibly begin to thank a doctor(s), nurses, and institution that has literally saved your life?! When I was at my worst, the surgeon took the time to call me personally and ask what was going on with me. This was about 8:30 at night, as I recall. I was crying on the phone because I was in such horrific pain! This surgeon gave up his day off and came into his office at the hospital just so that he could see me!! Like I said, I was in very bad shape, so after seeing my pitiful state, he operated on me 2 days later! I was in intensive care, where I received the best treatment ever, from any hospital. Mercy is rated a top hospital for a very good reason! Excellent place with excellent, caring people. By the way, I would venture to say that at least 75 percent of the patients there are on Medicaid, so some of the complaints that Mercy is only after patients' money is very inaccurate. believe me, they are not getting rich off of Medicaid recipients! I had a problem with a bill, and about three weeks later, I was given full financial aid plus debt forgiveness for doctors I had seen there in the past! I love this place, they saved my life! - Mercy is a beacon of light and hope in a city almost completely out of control with poverty, drugs, and unspeakable violence...
God Bless this place and their dedicated staff!

I have been a patient of Mercy Medical Center for ...

I have been a patient of Mercy Medical Center for past six years with no real problems. But on Friday November 16, 2018 that all changed because the doctors and staff of this hospital didn't care about me as a patient they didn't care about my service to this nation. I am a disabled veteran as well. I sent a VA form to my spine doctor at the Maryland Spine Center on St. Paul street to fill out two weeks ago for my back injury. When I arrived for my appointment on Friday she told me she couldn't fill it out and stated that someone from Physical Therapy had to do it. I said OK I will take it to the VA PT. She gave the form back to me plus I noticed she did want to fill out the form because it was so lengthy. When I tried to take it to VA PT they said that my primary care doctor had to fill out the form. So I took it to my Mercy primary care doctor first since getting an appointment at the VA takes so long I went to my doctor at Lutherville Personal Physicians. My doctor's assistant treated me like a criminal not a valued patient by telling me that she refused to fill out the form because she had never treated me for my back injury. Which is true but what this is really about is money as always with the medical and legal fields. The form does clearly state that "reimbursement expenses will not be payed back". So giving this form to a private doctor is like giving them poison. I must give it to a VA doctor because by their rules they must accept it. I will be searching for new private doctors.

I was a patient there having a miscarriage with pain radiating to my back. During my stay I never received any pain medication. I was there for 8 hours and only saw a nurse twice. My husband had to ask someone for a sanitary napkin for me because no one thought to give me, a patient with bleeding, so much as a pad. To top it all off, they sent in a very pregnant tech to take my vital signs after having this very painful miscarriage with my first pregnancy. No compassion, no kindness, no care. I will say that the physicians who talked to me and the ultrasound tech were nice. But I felt like there was no nursing. That has been my one ED experience to date and I will never forget what a horrible, de-humanizing experience it was. I recommend any pregnant woman with complications to go elsewhere.

My review is based on my experience with the birth...

My review is based on my experience with the birth of my son. This includes the Center for Advanced Fetal Care, Labor & Delivery, NICU, Mother Baby Unit, and lactation services. I'll review each independently below.

CFAFC: Mine was a high risk pregnancy due to recurrent miscarriages and placenta previa. I had 6 ultrasounds here. The only good ultrasound experience I had was the anatomy scan at 19 weeks. The tech took her time and was thorough. The other 5 were awful. Each time, I was made to wait 45-60 minutes past my appointment time even though I had arrived early. Then, they rushed the scans to get to their next patient.

Labor & Delivery: The triage area is pretty gross and the rooms have shared bathrooms, which seems very unsanitary. The actual L&D rooms are pretty nice. Mine had a nice big bathroom. It is worth noting that despite Mercy's claim that the rooms have labor tubs, only 3 of the rooms have this feature. There id a rooftop garden, but admitted moms aren't allowed to use it. The cupboards are well stocked with mesh undies, pads, towels, etc. so I didn't have to keep asking for things. I ended up with an emergency C-section though. The PACU experience was horrendous. They literally just dumped me there alone without giving me a call button. I had to actually call out to a janitor to get a nurse.

Mother Baby Unit: Some of the rudest nurses I've ever met. I had to stay a few extra days and the housekeeping staff stopped coming by my room. I had multiple meal trays. The laundry bin was overflowing. The garbage cans were spilling over onto the floor. I had to ask several people before anyone came. The dining services folks assumed I had left after 48 hours and stopped delivering meals to my room. The breast pump in my room was broken. Had to wait hours for another, which caused painful breast engorgement. Overall bad experience.

NICU: wonderful! They took great care of my son and made sure my husband and I felt included and had opportunities to bond with him.

Best hospital in Baltimore. Facilities, physicians, and nurses are the best. For all of the bad reviews all I can say is this is a hospital, not a hotel. You are here to be treated for an ailment, not catered to as a guest. Put yourself in someone else's shoes and imagine what the employees have to put up with, especially working in downtown Baltimore.

I am 24 weeks pregnant, and had a threatened pre term labor. I was given a 10 minute pelvic exam in which I had instruments painfully inserted into me so that the doctors could check the dilation of my cervix and take swabs to check for any bleeding which there was!!! After the painful exam the doctors put my swabs into three tubes which were supposed to be sent to a lab for tests to check for indications of pre term labor. They left the tubes on the counter and told me there was no need to send them for testing so I was given a painful pelvic exam for no reason. Than, they gave me a Betamethasone shot my doctor prescribed to speed the development of the babies lungs in the event that a pre term labor did occur, I was to get my first shot yesterday and told to take the vile of medication home to bring to my obgyn today for the second dose of the shot. The nurse refused to give it to me, so now I need to take a half hour trip back to the hospital. This hospital is unprofessional and unfortunately it's the hospital I'm assigned to with my pregnancy from my doctors office. There is a medical malpractice case in the making.

I was admitted for about a week for a nasty bout of pneumonia. The overnight doctor was a literal joke. I was feeling really anxious and isolated, as I had no family or friends in the area and no visitors were allowed due to COVID. When I informed the doctor that I was having a panic attack, he prescribed 40 mg of Oxycodone. That s right: not Xanax or Ativan, or something relatively routine and benign; apparently opiates work better than benzos for panic and anxiety, at least according to this hospital.

Another disturbing instance of gross misconduct/incompetence (take your pick) occurred when I asked to have my vitals re-checked because I was worried I was running a high fever. In response to my request, my nurse informed me that vitals were only checked every six hours and that I would therefore have to wait to take my temperature. After some prodding, she agreed to give me my very own thermometer, in lieu of doing her job. I took my temperature standing in front of the other sedentary nurses at the nurses station; my temp was 102. I had to then track down my nurse just to get some Tylenol for that fever she had been hell-bent on ignoring.

I left the hospital at my own behest sick as a dog only to go immediately to a different (see also: much better) hospital, where I found out that none of the antibiotics Mercy had given me had been working. In fact, I was told, I still had multi-focal pneumonia. My nurse at this hospital asked where I had been hospitalized prior to my arrival and when I informed her that I had been languishing at Mercy (I m convinced now, more than ever, that the name of this medical facility is meant to be ironic) for a week, she scoffed and told me she had a terrible opinion of Mercy so terrible, in fact, that she drove every single day from Baltimore to Reston, VA just to avoid working at Mercy, which would ve been a logistically ideal location for her given where she lived.

I was discharged from Reston hospital with two new antibiotics which produced drastic, noticeable improvements in my condition in only two days. The staff at Mercy hospital are either shamefully incompetent or the hospital itself has a vested financial interest in keeping you sick/keeping you there. I ll let you decide which is true.

I've been visiting Mercy for seven years now. I am always thankful for the kind staff and physicians. During my last visit to the Breast Center, I was delighted to hear the front desk staff supporting and encouraging a new staff member. You could tell that they were invested in her success. Such kindness! As a patient, hearing your staff communicate so well to each other and to patients makes a visit worthwhile. Thank you Mercy.

I had the most positive experience at Mercy Medical Center. My doctor was attentive and took his time with my physical. In the blood testing lab, the nurse who drew my blood was so sweet and funny and succeeded in making me forget I was getting my blood drawn conpletely. Definitely will stick with Mercy.

The peds center sucks!! They have you waiting for two hours and mess up the prescriptions. I had to come back the next day because of their mistake and once again I'm left waiting for a long time.

ER staff on April 9 at 2pm told me five hour wait times are typical. Doesn t seem to be helpful in an emergency. I came in with shingles and had to wait 2 and a half hours while they fast tracked two ten year old kids that had a cough after they waited for thirty minutes. When I asked about it the lady informed me they were fast tracked- why a cough is more pressing than shingles I don t know- and she also told me people usually wait five hours, I assume to let me know that it could be worse. Thanks lady, that sure was helpful! After all this I was told there is no treatment for the ailment they had diagnosed me with hours earlier. Smh. Big old waste of time for a big old bill and that lady at the front desk was just ridiculously rude.

I have had multiple out-patient surgeries at Mercy under the care of Dr. Myerson. Start to finish, the quality of staff & care received has been the BEST. I adore Dr. Myerson, the Pre-op & surgical team. As a side note, I have travelled from out of state for these procedures

Spent 7 hours in the ER 4/10/18, but because of an ER nurse Alexia it was most pleasant. She was very cordial and kept me informed of any actions pertaining to me. She treated me like I was a VIP. She also complimented me for being so patient and understanding. realize their job can be very stressful at times and too often they get bitched at.

Waited 3+ hours with my partner who had a open wound only to be told we were never on the list of waiting patients. We still saw multiple patients who came in after us be called in and seen after we were told we'd be taken care of. Worst hospital visit in my life, my partner was bleeding out he would've been dead. I will never EVER return.

It wasn't until I started to have random pelvic pa...

It wasn't until I started to have random pelvic pain and loss of feeling completely in my right leg, that I went to Mercy Medical Center in MD after calling my Dr.'s Office. The on-call Dr. advised that I go to the ER at Mercy hospital and have them remove my IUD. When I got there, I let the registration desk know that I was having symptoms of a stroke and I needed at least vitals taken right away to be sure I did not have a blood clot. The woman looked at me with disinterest and no care. she barely mutter an "um huh" and proceeded to ask me my name. When I asked if she had heard me, she said said yes now do you have two "t's" in your name or one. To me that is a totally lack of care or interest in the person's care. She printed my papers asked me to have a seat and said they would call me.

It was no surprise that they called me in less than 5 minutes. But, when I went to the back, no exaggeration, the nurse asked me the exact same questions that I just answered less than two seconds ago. Meanwhile, I am in complete panic. She checked nothing. I tried telling her my symptoms again but added in information about when it first started and how its progressed as I thought that would be helpful and she said," please tell me your symptoms without your whole back story." She too was very uninterested in my care or my discomfort. By this time I am agitated and felt dismissed. I also could tell that these two Caucasian women had made up their mind about who I was and what type of person I was. I felt treated like I was a drug addict that strolled into the ER frantically. There was a level of disinterest that was appalling after telling them that I was afraid that I was having a bad reaction to the IUD.

The woman asked me to explain my symptoms three different times, three different ways and interrupting me each way. Finally I pointed to my face and said, "also my right side of my face loss feeling while I was in a meeting at work today." She then said, "well mam that's your left side, so..." At that point I lost it and told her I don't give a "f&%!" what side it's on, I've told you my symptoms, get a damn nurse out here and take my vitals. At which point she said that I could leave. I told them that she repeated got smart and had the nerve to correct me from my left and right while in pain and refuse to have someone take a vital sign while confirming my information. Then because I finally snapped on her she refused my care, called security and told them she feared for her life. Security did not feel the same and tried to calm the situation down as I told them, I was fine until I requested vitals and she ignored my request, but proceeded to tell me my left from right and has shown the least bit of concern for what I described as a loss of feeling in my leg. The officers said ok let us get her a wheel chair and we will let you complete her papers while she is no longer in the room. The nurse told the security, "No, drag her out of her because she doesn't need a wheelchair and she can walk and wait." I asked for names and they refused. The charged nurse lied and told me she was the only one in charge and her name was Maureen. When I said I would be suing for discrimination, they said please do. Needless to say, I went outside to the side of the street where an ambulance had just dropped off a patient and described my issue. They took my blood pressure as he was very aware of the seriousness of the issue and that I could of been experiencing a blood clot. He then looked into the closest stroke center and advised that I go to St. Agnes Hospital to be seen.

What was most alarming to me is that the officers were trying to help, told me the truth about who was really in charged that night and also were not surprised by the situation. Go figure.

My OBGYN, Dr. Meghan Lynch is wonderful at what she does. It is a shame that Mercy Medical Center hasn't joined the 21st century.

If you visit a specialist like a Dermatologist that has an office at Mercy they will double bill you! You pay your copay for seeing the Dr. then you'll receive another out of pocket bill for "facility/hospital use". It wasn't an ER visit it was an appointment made 3 weeks in advance and an out patient office visit that cost me $185 + my $30 copay. Visit a Dr that has their own offsite office!

My daughter came here in severe stomach pain after visiting 3 other hospitals who did nothing at all for her. I'm so very pleased with the staff here they were prompt, courteous, and kind. They actually cared for my child, something I thought all health professionals were supposed to do.

TERRIBLE SECURITY N EVENING/NIGHT NURSING STAFF!!!! From VERY RUDE N LAZY Security that does nothing but joke about patients n seems Racist towards people not of there race, security stoodby while my wife n I had our belongings stolen from the E.R waiting room. When i asked to see the security tapes All 4 security guards were on camera playing with there phones, not doing there job while a man took 20 minutes stealing my stuff right in front of them n was very obvious about it but the security was too busy not caring about patients or there belongings because of being preoccupied joking around or on their cell phones n even crazier they were laughing at the play back of security tape.
The Nursing staff should definitely not be in the healthcare field. Nasty n ude most of them came off as n SLOW as can be. Waiting n watching my sick wife being blown off n disrespected as she tried asking questions about her health n not professional at all. Should be fired for not respecting, making personal judgements that were false or barley doing anything to help my wife while she was crying because of the pain n how she was treated by Mercys ER Evening/Night NURSE'S.
DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MERCY HOSPITAL TO ANYONE!!!!

My husband has had two hip replacements at Mercy and we will not go there for health issues ever again. Dr. Hungerford's office staff leaves far too much to be desired. Upon entering, there was no friendly greeting, paperwork that the patient needed was not filled out correctly and the office manager never bothered to consult with us. The negative interaction with patients and patient families was most distressing. I witnessed patients arriving and signing in, only to sit there for 15 or 20 mins and not be acknowledged.

The staff habitually give the wrong techinical information to patients and are resistant to change or even doing anything to find the right answers and as such, they fail to give Dr Hungerford the correct information and therefore, he repeats the same negative info to the patient.

I have filed a complaint with the DHHS regarding FMLA matters and also with the hospital director. I went back with my husband to this doctor believing and trusting not only in his medical skill, but also looking forward to the proper assistance from the staff. I was very, very disappointed.

The ambience and atmosphere in this hospital is no longer reflective of their mission statement as it regards Care and Compassion.

I have had two oncology procedures here and inserted a port a cath for oncology treatment. The staff was wonderful. I love the daily prayer announcements. I pray to never need their services again but I would highly recommend their oncology treatment and staff to anyone. And as a nurse myself I have seen many different hospitals. And Mercy is really exceptional.

Why do you have to have politics on every single TV? Also someone needs to have a talk with the employees about what is ok to talk about at work. Very openly and loudly talking politics and religion is not a good idea. The customer service in the endoscopy department was very rude. I will not be coming back here. I would not recommend

I'd like to start by saying that I have an abundan...

I'd like to start by saying that I have an abundance of medial problems; one being Lupus Erythematosus. In 2003, I'd spent 4 months in Mercy trying to have a baby with only 1 complaint. I've done nothing but brag and boast over their professional and compassionate care; but following my recent hysterectomy at the hospital, my opinion has changed drastically. The procedure was not properly explained because they were really trying to sell the "robotic surgery" approach. I was not properly prepped for the surgery (which caused major problems). My post operative pain management agreement was severely altered following the surgery, and I cried with pain for 3 days, when I was conscience. I informed my nurses, but they neglected to make any calls. I did not meet the discharge qualifications, yet I was discharged anyway and suffered even more for the following 3 weeks. The surgery was performed on June 3rd, yet I can't get a post op appointment until august 4th! Worst of all, the nurses in the recovery room were rude and nasty. I had an anxiety attack after waking up. I was given a bunch of meds to calm me. I can't communicate when I'm over medicated, but I can comprehend. I moan n groan and as nurses came to check on me, one particular nurse would pull everyone of them aside and say, " I gave her medicine. She's on too much pain medication with her doctor, so that's on her: just stay away from her. She'll be asleep when she notices that no one's paying her any attention". That crushed me! I wanted to respond, but they'd given me too much anti-psychotics, which I begged them not to do in the event of. I wasn't going to post this negative review, being that they used to take such good care of my entire household, but this is more than one spoiled apple! 3 days and not one nurse, nurse tech, physician, etc... to get help 4 me. I was too weak and in too much pain to even think about a call bell.

Avoid unless you are rich. Mercy charged me nearly $5,000 for a 30-minute appointment and ONE skin biopsy that came back completely negative. That means the doctor charges roughly $2500 an hour for that simple procedure which is absolutely ridiculous. Avoid. This is what is wrong with healthcare in this country.

The dermatology office there is EXTREMELY unprofessional.
The receptionist for Suite 607, is extremely disrespectful, arrogant and ghetto!
They kept rescheduling my appointment, without my knowledge. Also they were not

I am Soo beyond fed up with this hospital.... Their midwife on the L&D floor almost killed my son because they saw me alot because I had a very difficult pregnancy.... I developed preeclampsia and she ignored me vitals..... The ER is hit or miss.... You might get a doctor who cares but it's Rare.... Than the wait time is ridiculous. My son pediatrician was the best thing about that place... Because he actually did his job and my OB she was amazing and did her job as well. All and all I don't recommend going there and if you do... Stay on those people they are LAZY. There are a few gems there tho.

I needed to have back surgery which I had been avoiding for many years. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Clayton Dean do review my options as the pain had become unbearable. After my first appointment I was scared as I have scolosis and having another fusion on the L1 to S1 levels of my spine was not very appealing to me. After taking time to talk with my family I decided to schedule another appointment with Dr. Dean to discuss my issues and the many questions I had about this surgery. He was extremely professional and kind and answered all my questions about the surgery. After this visit I felt confident that Dr. Dean would be the perfect physician to perform this surgery. To make a long story short, the surgery went very well and I was very pleased with the outcome. The entire staff assigned to my care was wonderful and provided excellent care. This was my first experience at Mercy Medical and I would recommend Dr. Dean for any spinal procedure. I was very pleased with the follow up care and I am happy that I chose Dr. Dean to perform my surgery.

The night ER staff is the worse. They leave you sitting in the waiting room for hours when you've expressed that you're in excruciating pain. It's like they really don't care to help you and you still have to pay them. When you finally get back to a pod, they still leave you sit there until someone decides to assist you. The most horrific experience I've ever had in a hospital. I will never go back to that ER and I used to love Mercy Hospital.

Mercy Hospital has always been a great experience ...

Mercy Hospital has always been a great experience for myself and a few family and friends. I see a few specialist there. Especially the foot and ankle reconstruction center. I love Dr John Campbell. He saved my foot..Unfortunately I had my first major foot surgery in 2009 and it was a total right foot reconstruction and I had it done at Union Memorial with Dr Gregory Guyton. He messed my foot up very badly and I had to have it all redone again. And that's when I went to Mercy for a 2nd opinion. I'm so glad I did. Dr John Campbell saved my foot but unfortunately I had to have 3 more surgeries in 2009-2010.
And just recently on Nov 5th, 2018 I had my 5th foot surgery (4th with Dr Campbell) He did a wonderful job and has a wonderful bedside manner and listens. I had surgery there yesterday and I was the first surgery of the day and I was done and home by 12:30. The staff both front and back office were absolutely wonderful, kind, compassionate and understanding. Someone called me last night to check on me and a nurse called me today. So you, the patient comes first. Hope this review helps.

Good Morning,

Good Morning,

This is a review of OB/GYN Dr Jennifer Taylor s Office.

My wife and I just left this office after a 45 minute wait. We were there to hear the first heart beat. I sat in that office and watched people come and go. I also watched her staff behave very inappropriately. My issue with this office is the lack of tack. One of the staff members called my wife (after a 45 minute wait) and as we approached the door, the young lady takes her finger, points it at my mother and says only one person can come back here with you. It would be nice to have this heavily enforced policy posted somewhere or verbally indicated at the top of the process. So I looked at my wife and said is there away we could speak with the dr, we have been here a while waiting. It s a moment we are anxious to experience in excitement. One of the young ladies with a nasty attitude interrupts my wife to tell me we are enforcing the drs rules. I had to kindly let her know I was speaking to my wife, Thanks). Thanks to the staff they made a great day a horrible day. As my wife and I wait in the room for the dr and my mother wait in the waiting room, we here an office staff (with a loud voice) disgracing my wife and I for wanting my mother to come back with us. I heard every word. What s said is a Good Dr is allowing such an unprofessional staff represent her. The question now is, is she really as Good as we say to employ a staff that are comfortable and allowed to act in these manors. So many reviews speaking to the ill nature of her staff for years. Obviously the Dr and the unprofessional staff must share common views. Do to the language of the staff that was used we left to find a new Dr.

The support staff at the Institute for Digestive Health & Liver Disease is incompetent. Wasted over 2 hours of my day for a 10 minute doctor's appointment, including the time to check out and schedule my next appointment. Was then advised to arrive an hour early for my CAT scan and to have no food or liquid 4 hour prior to arrival. The day I did arrive, was informed that I did not need to fast that long prior to appointment. However, that day I waited in the lobby more an hour an a half before my CAT scan, which I have not experienced elsewhere.

This is a Very Nice Hospital!

This is a Very Nice Hospital!
For Starters, whoever was the Reviewer that said this place has Good Food....DID NOT LIE!!! The Food that comes to the Patient Rooms here go neck & neck with the Food Taste & Presentation of Paoli Hospital in Pennsylvania (which is #1 currently).....Thanks Kim!!!
**The SUPER MAJOR DOWNSIDE TO THIS CUISINE IS THAT MERCY IS NOT VERY MERCIFUL TOWARDS THE MOTHER/CARETAKER THAT STAYED THE ENTIRE 4 DAYS....OFFERING NO "COMPANION TRAY" AS PAOLI HOSPITAL SO READILY OFFERED!!!**
Well,.....now on to the Review:
CLEANLINESS:
This Hospital has been kept up pretty well, especially the Marriott-Style Private Room (sorry Medicare) that are located in the Newly Built "Bunting Building"!!! The Front Lobby where the Pick-Up Area is looks Very Elegant!!!

The ER DEPARTMENT:
The Waiting Area was Very Small compared to all the other Hospitals I've been to in Baltimore. The Triage Nurses Sharon & Sharon are Very Professional & knows what they're doing (a Godsend & very different than the Careless Students @ The University Hospitals!!). Nurse Paris was Great & Nurse "G" was Good & actually allowed me to get some "Hot Food" & some much needed Sleep in the ER while waiting for a Bed to be available in the New Bunting Building.
Techs "Dan-the-Man", Adienne & Nurse Kelly from ER X-Ray were FANTASTIC!! Kelly really shocked me because she said she was Newly Hired & Newly Graduated but had the kind of Bedside Manners generally found in Well-Seasoned Staff!!!

DIALYSIS DEPARTMENT:
Dr. Greenwell is Very Seasoned & was a pleasure to deal with. He expalained everything VERY WELL & in a way you could understand!!
Peg the Coordinator was VERY PROFESSIONAL & SUPER FRIENDLY!!
The Charge Nurse Patty & was Very Experienced & was such a pleasure to chat with :)

TRANSPORT:
Sienna, Briel, Cheryl, Tyra, Erica, & Maurice should ALL get an Award for their Fast, Efficient & Caring nature shown to me & I'm guessing many others!!

The Housekeepers were on top of their game, especially George & Dorrell....Thanks!!!

11th Floor:
Dr. Judah Mirvish & Dr. Michael Sambat were very Good. Nurse Jenn was OUTSTANDING!!! **Beware of Tech "Josanna" which has a Major Attitude Problem and acts like she doesn't want to be there dealing with Sick folk!!**

16th Floor:
You'll like the Nurse Afton (She's Mexican American) & the Tech Kere (True Sistah)!!
The Resident Dr. Fields is a pleasant persn who will actually LISTEN TO THE PATIENTS STORY & has Great Bedside Manners!! THANKS!!
The Attending Dr. Emily Marcus was NOT very Friendly & seemed to have a Major Attitude Problem! She was Highly Pregnant & I don't know if that contributed to her "Smart-I-Don't-Care-What-You're-Saying....I'M THE BOSS!!!" Attitude or not?!

Lastly, I must mention Echo Tech Kim in Cardiology....SHE WAS AMAZING!!!
VERY NICE & EXTREMELY CARING!!!

ALL IN ALL, THIS IS A VERY GOOD HOSPITAL....JUST NEED TO HAVE A BIT MORE "MERCY" ON CARETAKERS STAYING ALL DAY & ALL NIGHT & PROVIDE THEM WITH TRAYS AS WELL.

***THIS IS ACTUALLY A "TEACHING HOSPITAL" & IS MAINLY STAFFED BY ALOT OF STUDENTS (from UMMC) WITH THE REAL SPECIALIST SCATTERED HERE & THERE***

RECOMMENDED (But as of now, Love ones, please bring $20 a day for Food or a Lunchbag...oh, and be prepared to walk the long hallways to the Cafeteria.

Horrible patient experience!!!! Laziest nurse and very rude staff. Charge nurse completely ignored my son who was asking where the restroom was. Updates were not part of the ED experience and when asking the nurse she was not very helpful. Finally an update yelled from the nurses station that it shouldn't be too much longer. If reimbursement in Maryland was by patient experience......Mercy would certainly not make the mark.

A couple months ago I called 911very worried because I had drank way more then I was used to and was afraid I had alcohol poisoning because of how much blood I had been throwing up. Because I was highly intoxicated once I sobered up I realized I was feeling so sick I had tried to make myself throw up several times. I was made aware by a very angry nurse that shouted at me from her station. I was made aware after my nap, I sat up feeling sick and she began to shout from her chair where she was solving word puzzles for her entire shift lay down, and don t make yourself throw up I looked up and started to put two in two together. I somewhat understood her frustration and laid back. After a few hours I got up. The same nurse, solving her same word problems, would shout at me across the floor and say something along the lines of where are you going. She would constantly speak poorly about me to the other nurses as I heard them laugh and make fun of me for over drinking. Finally my third trip to the bathroom of course, she brought up me going to the bathroom, I said would you like to come and watch? I have to go to the bathroom. What is the issue? . She looked me up and down and continued solving her word problems. One of the times I got up to use the bathroom one of her friends who has been standing at her desk looking in my room for over an hour said are you going to button your pants or just walk around like that? In a very nasty tone. I couldn t believe she had said this considering I asked for a gown and was denied. Also considering I was sick my stomach was bloated, it doesn t take a genius to realize jeans and bloating don t mix. Annoyed at this point I walked away. During this my boyfriend had called to talk to me, when I woke up I was made aware of this again in probably the most inappropriate way possible. I had sat up in bed and the same nurse shouted from her chair (she never walked to my room to speak to me, only spoke to me from 15 feet across the room yelling) if you don t lay back I m calling Dylan and he s going to get you . Very confused how she knew my boyfriend I said okay I ll go home very upset and disrespected at this point and she just continued her puzzle. She said this every time I moved but never called him. Towards the end of my stay one of her friends standing at her station came into my room to check on me (probably one of three times I was checked on total) and asked if I need medicine for pain or nausea I said yes that my nausea was bad and I had a lot of pain in my stomach. She looked at me and said I m not giving you anything for pain because you made yourself throw up so go lay down. At this point I gave up and began documenting the visit. I was denied water, denied a gown, not checked on, forced to sit in my own vomit and blood, and wasn t allowed to use the bathroom. I was better off staying home and so are you. All those nurses should fired and Mercy should be ashamed. I tried to call and file a complaint and was denied twice and once hung up on. But they have no issue calling me about billing and insurance. When I called billing back asking to file a complaint I was told I don t really do that I m not sure who you would talk to , this place is a joke. Horrible night nurses HORRIBLE. And I wasn t the only patient they did this too. I m amazed more people weren t outraged.

Just had my surgery 12 days ago and having had two past awful reactions from anesthesia in two other hospitals, I couldn t believe the genuine concern and incredible empathy from the anesthesiologist Rachael, (made my concerns disappear, and I came out of anesthesia with not one side effect!!), my primary nurse, Janet and my recovery room nurse Megan. Dr. Swope is an awesome robotic surgeon!
I would recommend Mercy Hospital to everyone!

Waited 7 hours overnight from 11:30 pm to 6am at the ER for stiches. Urgent Care closes early so when my BF cut his hand with glass while in the kitichen we waited 7 hours to be seen by a doctor. Ridiculous

6 hours just to get seen by a doctor, 4 hours just to get into the er. terrible staff, everyones just standing around gossiping and ignoring patients. Night staff doctors dont care about your pain, and treat you like youre stupid. dont ever come here. Also its nasty. they dont keep their tools clean, and their bathrooms?? theyre like truck stop restrooms. Worst hospital i have ever visited. Dont even bother trying to get treated here. youd be better off taking some ibuprofen and passing out on your couch.

This has been my family go to hospital for everything including surgery and where my child was born.
April 1. I had the worst experience ever with a couple members of a Oncology doctors staff.
I was there for follow up test and instead of being reassured I was first made to feel like a drug addict, then asked if a sexual relationship that involved being beaten up. I told her I m not answering anymore of these questions and she asked three more times after I already said no once to then again asked if wasI taking illegal drugs as if to mock me to answering her to start.
I have been in law enforcement for 35 years take routine urinalysis and quite frankly they need to implement Miranda warnings before asking these questions. This was no place for this line of questions. My blood pressure was already high and they knew it!
Apparently they told everyone I wouldn t respond to the rest of the questions so on the way out I was told they couldn t find where I signed Hippa. I had already waited over two hours to get in. I knew I had signed many times and they were continuing to assault me.
And now it s been more than two weeks for results of test and the doctors staff is blaming the doctor for not releasing the results to from my Pap.and to call back Monday Talk about being held hostage! Horrible experience I will never go back.
What would you do? Patient Relations leave message called me following day I advise I want the results and meeting to see the records and why I was screened They advise they need to contact the office I was not contacted again the rest of the day.

I write this only in reference to the billing. Many of the doctors there are high quality. I had a $36.75 balance for a visit that was NEVER sent to my attention. Instead, it went into collections and negatively impacted my credit. I presented to Mercy at least 3 times after that bill was purportedly generated and not a single person brought it to my attention. Furious, I called them to investigate and get it paid. They gave me a lot of bureaucratic nonsense about their systems, specialty practices in hospitals, etc. According to them, the bill was sent to me 6 times before going to collections. I diligently pay my bills and this is absolutely false. They have terrible systems and are an excellent example of what is wrong with our healthcare payment structure as a whole. The left hand and right have no idea what is going on and instead they treat you like garbage. Had I received a bill, I would have paid it!

I delivered my third child here. I had a standard ...

I delivered my third child here. I had a standard 2 night stay. I have very mixed reviews about this hospital. We arrived and I was 8-9 cm dilated. The front desk and lobby staff were amazing and helped us quickly. However when we got to labor and delivery registration, there did not seem to be a genuine concern for the every 1 minute contractions I was having. Finally a nurse came and got me, took me to triage. I had a quick exam, the doctors came in, the nurses came in...and realized we were ready to go. The nurse who was in charge of putting my IV in, was not in a rush, was trying to find a vein in the side of my arm under a black tattoo. I asked her what she was doing, and she looked at me crazy..fast forward she got offended when I told my partner, she had no clue what she was doing. So she stopped and put it in one of great veins that I clearly have in my arm. We move to delivery. Doctors were great and my labor and delivery nurses were great. They ruptured my water and 15 minutes later, delivery was over. A total of 45 minutes from arrival to delivery. We finally arrived to baby and mother unit around 6pm.

Ok, our first shift change: we had a RN who was just not concerned. My partner called on 3 different occasions for concerns, and she maybe came once after a hour of waiting. We sucked it up and just waited until 7am for everything we needed.

Issues: our bracelets were not scanned every time they removed the baby from the room.
Basic baby necessities were not on hand :petroleum jelly, pacifier, Etc.
We were told we could not take the infant shirts with us.. lol
Overnight care was not great.
Wendy, from lactation: there is always that one person who decides to say something about something at the end of your stay, that no-one else has said.
The only amenity offered was ice water, which we were told to get it ourself.
Was offered a guest tray of food, but was never delivered.
Student nurse was brought in while we were waiting for transport to do a 40 minute long exam.
Room was not swept cleaned.

Only consistent thing: the lady who delivered our meals was amazing. Shawnise, our overnight support on the second night was amazing. Jessica, our lactation support was great. Kayla our RN on our first day shift, did an amazing job. And the NP, Janice, were the best things, other than our beautiful baby, about this stay. Luckily, I personally did not have any ailments, no medications, no additional pains.

In comparison to Holy Cross Hosiptal, where I delivered my first two, I was not at all impressed with the overall hospital experience.

This hospital has the best staff with the greatest energy. It s always clean and I can honestly say I believe they attempt to do their best with whatever you need assistance with. Mercy is always my first and only choice .

Christine O'Conner has been my gyno since I was 18. I'm black and she's never shown any type of racism towards me. She's a good doctor. I don't know what that other lady is taking about.

Came into ER waiting room at 3am with a bad infection, from a bug bite, my whole arm was swelling badly and it was very painful, was waiting for six hours (they said because I came during "shift change" which I later discovered happens at 6am?????), at this point there are red lines spreading up my shoulder from the infected area. They gave me painkillers but no antibiotics and kept wheeling me around the hospital leaving me places, saying I needed an xray, an ultrasound, and some other tests (I waited hours for each and i found out later I could have declined these tests). It was 2pm the next day before I finally was given antibiotics, at which point they had to be given via an iv because the infection had become so severe. I ended up staying two days. They tried to get me to stay longer even though my infection appeared to have cleared up completely and my blood tests were coming back clean. I demanded to see my doctor at this point and he admitted it was a mistake and i could go. Waited TWO more hours for the nurse to remove my IV so o could leave. They tried to force me to speak to a priest multiple times while I was there, even after I declined(I am not Christian) and then billed me for it. After I left, it was two months and I still never received a bill. I called them asking what was going on, the woman basically yelled at me that it was in the mail. I called again two weeks later (still no bill) and demanded they check the mailing address. ER nurse apparently put my zip code as my post office box number. At this point they'd sent the bills to a collection agency and it was affecting my credit. AVOID THIS PLACE.

If only I could give ZERO stars. Why this hospital...

If only I could give ZERO stars. Why this hospital exists beats me. Their sole purpose is to admit and bill. NOT TREAT. They had one doctor at night. Foreign doctor ...maybe half Asian and white could care less about the severe pain I was in. I waited 4 hours before I was seen. Nurses are on their phones, unapproachable, dismissive, unprofessional...can I go on?

Then the audacity of them to send me to a specialist and have me leave in worse condition than I started with.

My fiance' brought me to the closest hospital from...

My fiance' brought me to the closest hospital from our my Park Avenue apartment. Upon arriving at the Emergency Room, I was having an asthma attack. I was then escorted to another room and my vitals were taken and from there I was escorted to a chair in the back where I then received two treatments.
A nurse came to and asked me to follow her to a bed. Upon arriving...I received two additional nebulizer treatments.By this time I was extremely tired from coughing..my head was pounding like I was being hit in the head with a sludge hammer. So I asked the nurse who came in to give me a shot because the treatments were not clearing my bronchial tubes at this time if I could get something for my head and my back...after I described the pain....he said certainly..but I'm sure the doctor will give you Tylenol..ok I said no problem..I would like that..anything but an NSAID because of my stomach. I then recei6the shot. I received two more breathing treatments from the nebulizer and around 6 a.m. after my lungs were still filled with whatever it was I came in with I was sent home with Ventolin and Prednisone.
I don't know if I was treated this wad because I was Black or because my fiance' is 6'8" ...yes I know that sounds ridiculous. My services at Mercy Hospital which has received almost 4 stars...THAT IS RIDICULOUS.
I WILL BE CALLING A PATIENT ADVOCATE ON MONDAY DECEMBER 4, 2017.
MERCY SHOULD PRAY THAT I AM NOT ADMITTED INTO ANOTHER FACILITY BY THEN.

I recently had a double hernia operation by Dr. Thomas Swope and am very pleased with the Mercy Hospital staff and my surgeon. I have several friends that have had the traditional surgery and warned of the pain and long recovery time. I had the assisted da Vinci surgical procedure with three small incisions. I walked out of the hospital after a few hours and had just a minor discomfort for a day or so. I took regular Tylenol for the day following the procedure and did not need any further medication. I was told to limit lifting for about a month and can now return to tennis and golf. Thank you Mercy!

My Doctor was awesome. His office staff were always kind & the waiting time for me is always short. The ER however, should have a meet & greet w/ all the dept heads.98% of the time when my surgery sent me to ER, the ER staff told me that my surgeon either retired or was a woman..My surgeon would tell me to have the ER call him when i got a room in the back but, on more then one occasion they refused to do that stating that i had nothing wrong w/ me..On these occasions i had a post operative infection.. The ER staff always told me i was fine. & i was NOT.

Awful experience in the Emergency Department- staff were incredibly rude and not providing any compassion, the waiting area had garbage everywhere including scraps of food in three places and someone came to clean up blood on the floor but didn't pay any attention to the chair! When asking if we needed a key to unlock the bathroom, we were given the excuse that someone must be in there. In over three hours, no one left and no one seemed to be concerned to check to make sure someone was not unconscious inside! We ended up here because three other EDs were on red alert. Definitely won't be back.
