Mercure Gold Coast Resort Review

It was terrific: very convenient and comfortable. We stay here when we come to the Gold Coast to visit family and we have probably stayed there about 4x before and it was lovely to be remembered by a couple of staff members.

We stayed due to the State Gymnastics Championships. One of your cleaners Lea left the most beautiful good luck message to the girls. She even made them puppies out of towels. It was absolutely lovely to come back to that. We were all extremely impressed.

I was looked after by very caring people. i had recently had surgery on my ankle and i was taken by buggy everywhere i went.

Concierge on arrival very friendly. Check in very slow. I had to wait what I thought was an unreasonable amount of time, esp. noticing staff in the back appeared to be standing around chatting (could see this whenever anyone went in or out of the back room door). Eventually the single person on the desk asked for assistance and magically three more staff appeared. Check out was much better. When I finally made it to my room in the pouring rain after carrying my suitcase up two flights of stairs (no lifts - that was a surprise), my room key didn't work. Not the first time it's happened, but just added to my experience. The room was tidy and roomy, the bed was comfortable, water pressure in shower great, the air con was great. Trip hazard in entry to bathroom. There's a small step up but it's disguised by the pattern in the floor covering. I tripped at least twice. I see a few other guests have commented on this in previous reviews (Trip Advisor, Facebook, etc.), but it looks like it hasn't been addressed. Something to address, maybe? Staff on duty in the bar on Thursday evening excellent and very helpful. Break Friday morning quite good. Congee was hot!! Probably wouldn't stay again. A bit dated and out of the way, for the Gold Coast.

The room was very comfortable and I was extremely happy with the service. The only problem was that I was involved in a conference over my stay, and was unable to spend more time at the hotel.

Staff are really nice and friendly. Rooms very clean Good solid service. The pool is not great especially when royal pines resort close by has an amazing pool area for kids and adults. I didn't realise access to the rooms only had stairs, my Son has cerebal palsy so it was hard for him to use the stairs and all ground floor rooms were booked. Also walk from the car park was hard for him. I paid nearly $30 per head for buffet breakfast and it did not live up to the reviews I read about it. I was very disappointed. Royal pines offers more dishes and ice cream with the brekky buffet. I read on their site that they had activities for kids during school holidays yet did not see any info about this nor told about anything available for kids.

I met with the General Manager and all the staff I interacted with were very friendly and helpful.

Great service. Been there a few times and enjoy the outdoor pool. Tepanyaki restaurant is great too. Highly recommend the buffet - super filling.

Quiet, relaxing, nice rooms, attractive grounds and perfect for golfers. A bit out of the way for tourists - 20mins taxi to the beach.

Not quiet and peaceful as expected, especially for the price. Very dated rooms, noisy staff on quad bikes and talking in the courtyard and filthy floor and blinds in the restaurant. Very disappointed.

From check-in to check-out everything was very easy. Our room was very comfortable and the grounds were extremely well kept. Experiences at the restaurant and bar were very positive.

Perfect, quiet location with top quality amenities and delicious breakfast. Staff are all friendly and professional. Courtesy bus to sporting event makes the weekend hassle free. Will stay again and again. Recommend highly.

5 star price 2.5 star rooms, dishonest with charges, best to avoid, go elsewhere.

The hotel is far from the city, Wi-Fi is only used in the lobby, and the reception is poor! A strong atmosphere.

Very comfortable and relaxing. The rooms do need updating though. The restaurant was excellent and service generally was excellent. Lovely surroundings and well positioned.

Andrew at the front desk was very professional, polite and helpful both when I checked in and when I rang through to inform him that the room had not been cleaned properly as they were still dirty ring marks from cups, plates and dirt over the bench tops and desks and it was obvious nothing had been cleaned or wiped down. The fridge had dried milk that had dripped down inside and on the inside bottom ledge as well as splotches of dried milk spots along the top of the door . The room itself was quite old, worn and outdated, even the toilet had a long crack down the side of it. Andrew was very apologetic and immediately moved me to a superior room which was much nicer and cleaner. I realise only some of the rooms were already renovated but after a long drive to get to the Gold Coast and at 6.00 pm at night the last thing I felt like doing was waiting to switch rooms. I found the staff lovely and polite and didn't hold them responsible, Until the remaining rooms are renovated maybe you could offer them at half price to people who would be happy to stay in them. I must say, I was not expecting this from the Mercure, very disappointing.

Bathrooms are dated but the amazing breakfast and lobby makes up for it.

Superb hotel, great location & ambience. Andrew at reception, dining room staff & hotel services staff are all very pleasant. Great breakfasts, nice bar area & if u love golf, the course is next door.

Reception and inside the room was excellent overall.
Aged people would need to prearrange availablility of rooms on ground floor beforehand as these hotel rooms don't have lift facility.
You may also not find microwave, in case you are expecting.

Room (in fact the whole hotel) in desperate need of a make over. I think the cleaner forgot to vacuum the floor in our room as there was hair everywhere in the bathroom which I had to clean up, then there were long black strands left on clean linen including the towel, my pillow, and even the toilet roll - maybe your cleaners should wear hair nets?? Was so looking forward to staying at the Mercure but would definitely not return based on my night's stay.

Good service and food, helpful and friendly staff, rooms a bit tired

Well located, just outside of surfers Paradise with easy public transport access, rooms were kept neat and maintained at an excellent standard, service from the staff was excellent and were very helpful and were well trained in providing premium service

The restaurant has a nice ambience and the food was quite nice

Absolutely fantastic. Really really really great resort style hotel. Friendly staff, great food, reasonable price, low price breakfast for children, very large breakfast selection (see around the corner!). Extra service with a smile; asked a recipe for a breakfast treat and it came hand delivered to our room! I cannot highly enough recommend this place!

Staff were very accommodating when we wanted to change rooms so we had stroller access. Pools were nice. Property is well maintained but overall is dated. Seems to accommodate lots of young sports groups (presumably as it's out of the way so no where to get up to mischief ). The breakfast buffet was good as well. Cleaner was also lovely and left towel animals in our room after meeting our kids. That was a lovely touch.

perfect location for wonderful golf courses plus it has an awesome gym and excellent swimming pool.

Went for lunch for a Groupon. Great price, was not busy so had the restaurant to ourself and the food was good too. Would recommend to go there with a groupon

Great place to get away, even when you live on the Coast. Staff are very friendly, rooms a clean and well appointed, nice reception, lobby, bar, restaurant & pool area. Didn't play golf but the course looked good from the room. Only negative, WiFi was lacking in the rooms which is uncommon in modern hotels.

Pros:
Nice and peaceful location. Almost looks like a private place solely for Mercure. A short drive away from the highway. Good service, Friendly staff. Check-in & Check-out were super quick. Rooms were ready ahead of schedule. Shout out for Cindy from housekeeping for keeping our rooms spick and span.

Cons:
For the rates you charge, a complimentary bottle of water everyday would be nice, You get only 1 bottle of water per person, regardless of the days stayed. Parking entrance has a dip, which if not entered slowly will scrape the nose of your car. Not advised for cars with skirts.

Bags sat with concierge for 10 hrs.
Had to return food.
Was charged for returned food.
Had to wait 30 mins for someone who could refund it.
Was then charged a second time for returned food rather than being refunded.
Had to wait 20 mins at bar to be served as only one staff member on a Saturday night.

We enjoyed our stay. Facilities were great staff were nice and welcoming. Rooms exceptional.

I ve been here for close to 48 hours of an 11 day stay and I honestly cannot fault the place. Our room is amazing love the balcony and the sunrise that pops out from behind the trees. The breakfast we received was absolutely amazing I mean who doesn t want to have churros as a sweet treat with their breakfast while on holiday? And then we had dinner there tonight and oh my goodness someone give that chef a Michelin star! Seafood risotto and Thai red curry chicken on point! Honestly couldn t fault it the produce was very fresh and you could taste it definitely going above and beyond! The staff are so delightful and happy to help. We came home to a surprise swan made out of towels from the person who cleaned out our room while we were out. Ordered room service and 20 minutes later piping hot and so delicious! Definitely coming back thank you for making our trip so wonderful!

Great hotel, very friendly staff. The kids loved the pool. Food was excellent. Rooms are specious and clean, but bathroom needs updating.

It's ok but not quite what we expected for a Mercure resort. Clean and comfortable but the food and drinks are pricey. We went for a feed at the tavern a few ks back toward the M1.

If you want to escape the noise of Surfers and enjoy a family friendly country club style resort with gorgeous views and bird life, this is the place. Well priced and well priced meals, fantastic staff and service, a truly huge, spacious pool, excellent spa and gym, guest laundry. Very highly recommended if you don t want to spend a fortune but want a classy experience.

The lobby is impressive, but rooms are basic and dated. The buffet is meagre and nothing looks very clean or appetizing. I had issues with my booking, issues with checkout, got locked out of my room taking my bags down to the carpark in the pouring rain. It was a shocker from start to finish, and rather than coming across as concerned, most of the time I felt the staff were disinterested at best, enjoying my troubles at worst. The only reason we picked this hotel is because of the excellent experiences we have had at other Mercure hotels, but this is not of the same standard.
The one star is for the grounds, they are beautifully maintained.

Wonderful facility, professional service, lovely clean rooms... this place has it all, even underground car parking, and staff who will take your luggage to your room if you need it. Pool is great, 24 hour meals (restaurant or in room) and a great price. The only issue I had was with the air conditioning controls which were hard to understand and it won't go below 20. We woke to a hot air balloon taking off outside of our room! Really a pleasant stay!

As parents, this was our first holiday away with the kids, and we absolutely loved the experience! The ppl were friendly, the reception/resort was beautiful, and we loved our room. We were right next to the awesome pool and whirlpool, which we absolutely enjoyed, and the entire atmosphere was extremely relaxing, considering we have a baby and toddler. Such a beautiful experience, definitely going back!!

Went here for the Wim Hof event over the weekend. Great venue and friendly staff.
