We were guests at a wedding celebration and were impressed by the whole event. The staff were friendly, efficient and very helpful. The hotel proved an excellent venue with something for all ages to enjoy. Our room was great with everything needed and a good time was had by all.

The location was good, it was close to Derby and other local tourist spots such as altona towers. The hotel and room were lovely albeit slightly dated, the room was a big size with a big bathroom. Unfortunately the shower pressure was a bit low and the room was quite cold. However there was an extra radiator in the room which was very helpful. When we arrived there wasn't any soap in the room and reception didn't send any up after being asked. So I had to ask again at breakfast the next morning. The spa facilities were OK, though book ahead for any treatments or massages as there was only one therapist when I asked and she was fully booked on Saturday and they are closed on a Sunday. The pool was big, though had limited seating and while it said children must be accompanied there were a fair few running amok and causing discomfort. The steam room was lovely, but the sauna was broken. All in all, a pleasant stay but not incredible

Dinner here was a mixed bag. The meal started off strong with a savoury tomato soup appetiser and warm freshly baked bread. However, the ribeye steak was severely overcooked and burnt, despite having asked for a medium rare steak. Another member of the table with steak frites had to return the dry minute steak - a disappointing waste of good meat. Even a messy looking but delicious ice cream sundae couldn't salvage the rather pricey dinner.

Edit: rating lowered from 3 to 2 star. On the second dinner here, we got the ice cream sundae again but this time it came without fruits and the whipped cream was melting off the ice cream - terribly inconsistent food quality.

A nice hotel. But considering the circumstances (my mother's funeral) I won't be going back. It was pleasant surroundings and the afternoon reception the hotel laid on was very good. Too many sad associations for me though...

Convenient location for travellers and comfortable rooms, but unfortunately the service was not 100% as it seemed as though many people had only just started their employment at the hotel and were unsure of their roles. I'm sure this situation doesn't last long though.

Really lovely place to warm up to the Christmas mood. Tasty and well portioned food. A pleasant hotel with a touch of art deco styling. Very attentive staff, especially Theresa on the breakfast shift.

Two because there weren't any pests. But at 345 pounds for 3 night and: it smells after fried food upon arrival, the taps leak, the ceilings in the function rooms have pealing plaster, coffee and tea is always late and most staff are unhappy or grumpy. It feels like a place of neglect where the people carry the burden. If you treat them friendly they make great latte's though. Because they can't help it.

Nice gym spa and pool all at a good price when I wasn't stopping in the hotel, the hotel itself looked very nice so it would be the type of place I'd stay if I didn't live locally.

Good rooms, especially the suites. I think it suffers from being a little understaffed, possibly with a high staff turnover. I've stayed a few times over the last couple of months and there always seems to be a new team member who's slightly overwhelmed when a queue for check-in/checkout/bar forms.
I'd give the restaurant and bar a miss, and head out into Mickleover or Derby. Service in the restaurant can be incredibly slow. I just waited 25 mins to have my order taken. A couple of weeks ago, it took 40 mins for fish and chips. And make sure to double-check the receipt. Items that "aren't available" might still be charged for if you asked for them.
I like the hotel and the location, but the restaurant and the staffing levels really let it down.

A really comfortable hotel with friendly helpful staff, in a great location for visiting Nottingham, Derby and surrounding areas. There are lots of great facilities: a lovely bar area, swimming pool/fitness centre and restaurant. The rooms are cosy and clean but some need updating. We've stayed here 6-7 times and always return when meeting friends in this part of the country or when breaking up a long journey home.

We stayed at the hotel last night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our room was clean, the bed was extremely comfortable, room temperature was easily adjustable. The pool and facilities were enjoyable as was the varied breakfast this morning. In fact the only criticism that I can give is that the orange juice at breakfast was pretty poor quality, a be minor point but one that can easily be addressed.

Nice and clean. Nice staff.

Nice and clean. Nice staff.
The food could be better but there's some alternatives not too far in the village.

Wasnt impressed at all with this Hotel. The rooms are ok but in need of modernisation and the food was awful. It took hours to get the food out and when it came it was mediocre at best. *BEWARE* They have a Parking eye controlled car park which you have to sign in on at reception.I did this and when I got home I had been given a parking ticket. When I rang the hotel to query this they were no help what so ever and I ended up with an extra bill even though I had done exactly as asked. Wifi is useless so will need data when visiting although I'd suggest finding another venue.

The hotel has a high standard. The rooms are clean, with big beds and a good layout. Our room was a bit noisy due to a close dual carriageway. We used the spa facilities, a main reason why we booked this hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. Ghe hotel is in a good location eady to find. I would highly recommend a stay there.

Not impressed with the hotel. When checking in we asked about spa & pool facilities for the next morning & was told open from 9. We went down to find it was closed for refurbishment. The check-in staff should of informed us of this. We booked the hotel because it had a pool and we could not us it.
We did not have dinner there but breakfast was over cooked bog standard grease. It took ages for our teas & coffees to be brought out to us.
The room had a noisy air con & hairs in the bath. When pulling the beds apart there was dust under the bed. I wouldn't personally recommend staying here

We enjoyed a night away at this hotel on a Secret Escapes offer. A very comfortable room and a nice spa/gym facility. Dinner & breakfast good, too. Just outside Derby centre and minutes away from the countryside.
