Celebrated my mother in law 's birthday with a lovely 3 course meal. Menu options were really varied and the food was delicious; something for everyone. We had about 20 people attend and the arranged the table do that we could all see each other; well thought out rather than sitting in rows behind each other.

Great hotel. Great for families too. Worst point was our shower, other than that it was ace. Will definitely go again.

Guests come first at all times nothing is too trivial.

A bit disappointing to have two single beds pushed together (not even physically secured to each other) rather than a double, not greatly comfy. Restaurant OK, although service not the quickest.

I attended a course for work and stayed there for one night. I was given a nice spacious room and very comfortable bed, clean nothing to complain about.

Well maintained venue. Food was good for mass catering.

Very well organised wedding fayre, was well worth the 35 minute drive and looking to attend any of these events in the future.

It a tad dated probably a great hotel in its day but could do with a bit of money spent on it. Be very careful with parking got a parking fine even though I registered my car!

Slightly dated and we had a pleasant stay. Great four fans of football teams due to easy access to the town and sports venues etc.

Rooms were nice; large, clean and bright. The pool and gym were better than most hotels I've been too. Another plus were the complementary beverages.

We had booked this on a wowcher deal which was a good deal and selected it due to spa facilities. We turned up yesterday to find out pool and jaccuzi were out of bounds due to an incident that has been mentioned in one of the reviews. It was unfortunate and out of the hands of staff but we were hoping for some offer of compensation as a large part of the stay was access to spa facilities. We did get this but after some persistence we were offered a discount.
The offer of food in the evening in the restaurant was standard and unfortunately wasn't anything to shout about. My husband's steak was cold, fries tasted like they were old and my lamb tagine came without coriander and in place of the bread promised with the tagine, I got a cold tortilla wrap. Breakfast was much better.
One positive is staff were courteous and sorry (didn't have the heart to moan at them) however again it seemed like they were just going through the motions and seemed unable to confidently deal with situations like ours.
We have been offered a discount off a future visit, but we won't be back.

Looking quite dated now. Room was clean staff were nice but that's about it.
Spa could do with a clean and the pool a little money throwing at it. Would have been a nice hotel it the 90's.

Nice hotel in a quiet area. A shame the spa wasn't working but enjoyed our time here nonetheless.

Just had afternoon Xmas tea. Service was excellent but the sandwiches were a bit dry due to being chilled. There was a good selection of cakes and plenty of tea and coffee.

Spent an evening here at a works annual get together. The food and the service was superb. Must say a special thanks to the two in charge of the breakfast room, I think they were. Theresa and Pedro.

Absolutely superb everybody who worked with in the hotel did their best to make us feel happy and comfortable I was very impressed. The food was at a very high standard and an extremely good choice.
As you see I have given it five stars because it deserves it.

Not a good experience at all, swimming pool and changing rooms were dirty, most of the bathroom doors did not close properly, staff were very rude and disrespectful, menu was not specific leading to my vegetarian mum being served pieces of fish in her salad, they also gave us invalid tickets to Chatsworth House causing us to travel 1 hour only to find out our tickets were not valid. Very disappointed, would not recommend.

A well kept hotel with friendly staff, breakfast was fantastic however the rooms are a little bit dated and the mattresses could certainly do with replacing.

Nice hotel with comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Our evening and breakfast meals were well cooked, however could improve presentation of restaurant. Bar staff were painfully slow considering an entire wedding party had descended on the hotel.

Attended a Confrence, staff are great brilliant facilities

I used the hotel for business meetings, handy location and has a Starbucks inside.

Went there for a conference. The hotel looks really lovely inside!

Bed was super comfy. And massive! View was also great. Bar could have been open later. 4 stars.

Like climbing the north face of the Eiger getting into bath for shower which was really underrated needs grab rail.rooms very tired need updating bed was like sleeping on a bouncy castle.just generally tired.needs a financial boost.

Well being centre was great...breakfast was second to none...a good stay.

Staff are welcoming and helpful.
Spa facilities were lacking; Jacuzzi was broken, as were fountains & water jets. When enquiring, the jets & fountains had been broken for years...
Loungers around pool had green mould on the seat cushions and changing rooms were really quite appalling ie drains blocked, mouldy ceilings.
Steam room was not that steamy.

On the up-side the restaurant was lovely, perfect food and service. I had a beef ragu and it was beautiful.
Bedroom was lovely & plenty of complimentary drinks, etc.

Would stay again but I wouldn't go specifically for a spa day.

Comfortable food and drinks. Have a good ambience to it. Located in a spacious area with trees and parking facilities. Also has a spacious lounge, bar and dining area. Overall good experience.

Stayed for one night. Service very good, great rooms and brill facilities. Was nice to have jacuzzi and saina to unwind. Recommended.

This was a lovely hotel to stay at for a nice quiet night. It was clean, looked classy and the staff were helpful. We stayed over night while visiting Alton Towers this was perfect distance to get to and from the park.

Staff very competent, meals very enjoyable, rooms kept to a high standard. could be a little better at breakfast time but good all the same.

Nice building, didn't find it easy to find ,(3 Hallmark hotels in Derby very confusing)access and parking system was complicated. The restaurant offered a carvery type lunch which was not very good. Over cooked meat and veg with salty gravy...

Went to book a wedding.Lovely hotel. Had my own wedding there 11 years ago and the hotel is just as nice as I remember. Staff very helpful and efficient. Would highly recommend.

This is a review I knew would be difficult to right as there are good and bad points about this hotel so I'm going to start with the good, the shower in my room was great, plenty of power there is nothing worse than being spat on by a rubbish hotel shower and to some this is not an issue but I do love a good shower. The WiFi was awesome I watched Netflix and Amazon and also face timed my family on my weeks stay at the hotel and it never let me down, not once did it buff or cut out and I used it in my room and the restaurant. The room was comfortable and had Aircon and extra heaters to keep you warm if needed and the towels and bedding was perfectly clean, the staff are quite and don't bother you much which I quite like but others see as rude but I must say on my last day which was a Friday morning there was a older lady who served me and breakfast and she was the nicest person I meet at the hotel all week. The bad points are the food in the restaurant the restaurant food is shocking if you like food of course, now mind you I always tend to eat well and my wife is a fantastic cook lucky for me and I have spoke to people who don't mind the food or say it's nice but on the first night I had the stew and douplins but I was disappointed when I found out the wrong meat had been used so not as you would expect. The home made scotch egg was confirmed by staff as not home made and was also the worst scotch egg I have ever had the pleasure of eating and I ordered the king prawns one night but had to send them back as the smelt so fishy I didn't feel comfortable eating them as I didn't want to be on the toilet all night plus at one point I ordered a starter which was garlic bread which was a nan bread with cheese on I then had to wait half an hour for my main. Over all I would say that my stay was ok but I would put it like this, if you was paying out of you own money you would be disappointed I was on a business trip so luckily didn't have to pay for the stay

We didn't see much of it, but the conference room our Charity Event was held in was very nice.

Friendly staff, good food cooked fresh, double bed comfy. Modern hotel, round mezzanine level in 1st floor and glass elevator quirky. Could do with at least one more real ale on draft at bar and more space for breakfast at busy times to avoid queuing for table.

In need of an overhaul as it all looks a bit tired. Bedroom was in need of a good dust. Staff were good, although bar staff a bit dismissive. Spa needs revamping and the layout doesn't work well. Comfy bed and very quiet room which is a plus. Food very mediocre - Rib eye steak was very tough and stringy, poor value for money salad, prawn cocktail had far too much sauce for my liking. Chocolate tart was good. Breakfast was great but the toasting machine is too slow, which creates a queue. Wouldn't go again and wouldn't recommend.

Still nice even after 15 years since I last stayed here. Great value for money and breakfast is a must if you're staying here. Shops, pubs are all in walking distance.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and couldn't be more helpful (especially when we accidentally locked ourselves out of our room!). It's very clean, rooms are lovely and well presented. The hotel lobby, lounge areas and restaurant are beautiful. There is a spa and gym. We used the pool, Sauna and steam room and all were great. The food in the restaurant was lovely - unfortunately there was a bit of waiting time on the cooked breakfast in the morning but nothing too major. There is free WiFi and a TV in each room with free view. The ensuite bathroom was spacious and nicely decorated. A wardrobe and plenty of drawers to store belongings. Each room has its own balcony area with French doors. Overall our stay was great and would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again!

Nice for a drink. We have never stayed there because we live nearby. They were welcoming a coach party in the bar area. Everyone was happy. They are hospitable. Public areas are clean and well kept.

Very clean and great warm pool. Food and drinks also good quality and reasonable.

Pleasant meeting / conference rooms. Good access to main routes. Staff very good. Not having used the bedrooms I cannot comment. ok

Visited the Mickelover Court Hallmark to meet up with friends and for the pleasure was gifted with a parking ticket. Fine way to treat paying guests. I will not be using any Hallmark Hotel again if they are so desparate they have to resort to these underhand tricks!

Love the pool ! My daughter is allowed to use her mermaid fin which is band from most pools for being dangerous ! She can be a mermaid in peace

It's very comfortable and the staff are really friendly and helpful although some parts could do with some tlc ok

Nice impartial hotel. 24hr room service menu limited. Seating on balconies would be good. Exterior decor needs a lick of paint and flowers in the flower boxes. 11am check out room maids eager outside door. But overall a nice hotel does what it says on the tin. Staff helpful. Nice views good location.

I visited the hotel as i wanted to join the gym. I was very impressed with the service and the facilities.

Visited recently to exhibit at a wedding fayre and to photograph a wedding.
Lovely helpful staff, a well presented venue and some good photo spots, if you know where to look.

Good size venue and some good room sizes.

My best mate got married here and I was best man so I have seen it from a few different point of views and never had a bad word to say.

Stayed here for a few nights. Best described as dated and in need of a refurbishment. Rooms are comfortable. The restaurant is pleasant but I find the pudding menu needs expanding.

Very dreary place, in need of a remodel. The toilet did not flush, They sent maintenance person to look at it after i went out to dinner. Came back & it was still not functioning. Called my room at midnight & offered to move me to another room. They could have left a note in the room or a message on my phone. Quite poor overall.

The room was smelly mostly humidity.
Food was awful to be honest and it had no taste at all.
Really old looking building with aged furniture.
Wouldn t recommend this place if I should be honest.

Hotel had a function on the Saturday, when i book they didn t inform that there was going to be loud music till late at night. Ruined mine and my wifes night. Food is poor, service is poor, still waiting for the manager to phone me back. One of the worst experiences ive ever had, would never go to this hotel again. So under staff, tried four time to get hold of the manager but they were too busy serving food or running the bar.

Not great, the evening staff refused to open the bar when our group returned from our event. This was organised with the day staff however not passed on and the knight manager would not open the bar under any circumstances. Also the room phone was plugged into the wall, not a socket in the wall but just a hole in a brass plate. Strangely it wouldn't work?! The breakfast was pretty average as well for the price.

Excellent accommodation with a easy full filling breakfast. Good Meeting venue.
