Arrived at the hotel on the Saturday , looked really nice but different to the picture . The guy on reception was very helpful , informed us to write the number plate of our car in the book as we was stopping there so we wouldn't get charged so we did this . Went up to the room which again wasn't what I opted for when I booked it , There was plenty of condiments in the room and more at reception if we wanted them .
The next morning enjoyed the gym and swimming pool before leaving . The man on reception said he would log the car out for us that wouldn't be a problem .

Lights very weirdly wired in rooms, bed uncomfortable, for a 4 star the room service was terrible and the decor is needing a major shake up. Only getting 2 stars as the shower was incredibly powerful which makes a change with hotels.
On first arrival we were disappointed at the sauna and steam room being out of action as this was the main reason for our stay here and location of course, the male receptionist immediately upgraded our room to a suite after my husband mentioned this with a few extras which made our stay much more enjoyable. The rooms do need a bit of updating as the furniture is very tired but overal a lovely nights sleep on those beds!! Very comfortable.... If ure looking for somewhere to eat I recommend the Swan which is a couple of miles away! Amazing food at reasonable prices, worth a drive to.
A big thank you to Kevin Johnson for being the voice of reason. Problems should be dealt with efficiently and courteously, not all members of staff seam able to do this. Again, thank you Kevin.
We came here on Sunday 2nd September. We were booked in for 4nights. Although we had arrived a little early, we were told that we could use the bar for food & a drink or the spa facilities while we waited. The communal area were clean & tidy & the staff were friendly and helpful. We were given Our key & it was explained to us about the facilities the hotel offered. When we got to our room ,we were delighted by what we had there. It was beautiful decorated with a huge bed, and lovely bathroom. The following morning after a great nights sleep ,we went down for the breakfast. There was a wonderful array of choice available and were quickly seated by the staff member. The food was both good and replaced quickly. During our stay we used the bar & the spa and the pool. A very nice lady called Gemma at reception told us about things to do on our visit & how to get there. But at no time did we find any staff member unhelpful or seemingly unhappy In their work. Really enjoyed my stay. Would love to return.Thank you all.
The hotel rooms are comfortable but no matter how you set it, the aircon leaves the rooms stuffy and I got a headache. Open the windows to let air in and the noise and smell from the A50 is bad. I booked so I could use the spa and pool. There was no mention when I booked that the pool was closed. The girl on reception even gave me directions to the pool when I checked in. Worst was the bed. Like many hotels, the double bed was two single beds bolted together. Only, the catch was broken, leaving a bolt sticking out. I only found this out when I caught my shoe on it and it cut the leather. Although the shoes were a write-off, and thankful I wasn't in bare feet! On the good side, the food was excellent. Expensive - but very good.
We stayed here when we went Alton towers & paintballing near by. Good sized rooms. We used the gym, swimming pool & sauna in our 2 day stay. Great customer service, receptionist went above and beyond and let us keep our luggage secure after checkout whilst we wemt paintballing and they let us use the showering facilities after :).
I was here for a training day and thought the venue was nice and there was plenty of parking. The food wasnt as good as it has been previously and the room was either boiling or freezing(with the aircon on) which got quite uncomfortable. The staff are always willing to help but it was hard to find someone at some points in the day.
Stayed overnight at this fabulous hotel at the weekend for a Gala dinner with Vicky's Coaches. The minute we arrived we were treated to tea and cake while our cases were taken to our rooms by the efficient porters .Check in was very quick and efficient ,the rooms although dated in parts were spotless and had everything you needed .The young staff in the room we had our meal were all exceptional and very smart ,a big congratulations to whoever trains them and to the staff as well. The food when it came was on hot plates and was hot to eat ,very nicely presented and was very tasty .The entertainment was good with a keyboard player and a husband and wife duo .All in all a great stay in a great hotel could not fault anything and given the chance will be back.
Stayed here a few times now, rooms are lovely, really comfortable, quiet so slept well, good bar and the food in the restaurant is very good, well presented and tasted great.
Stayed here for a week on business. Very nice hotel, the bed was massive! And the view, although of the dual carriageway, was still pleasant enough and I had my own balcony. Air conditioning was sufficient. It took me 4 days to work out where the kettle was. Who puts it in the cupboard?? Breakfast was great. Buffet style. Dinner was very good too, the burgers are good value. The staff are very attentive and it was nice to see the manager walking around checking up on things and also chipping in serving the guests. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay
This hotel was booked by my best friend as a treat. I had no idea where we were going and as soon as we walked in the atmosphere was warm and inviting and the receptionists were smiling and friendly. The twin room was spacious and well appointed with everything you need. Tea and coffee making facilities available in the room with a decent sized mug! Unfortuneately the pool was out of order on our arrival but we were allowed to check out and still use the pool sauna and spa facilities the following day. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. A great hotel with great facilities. Thankyou for a relaxing stay.
Fairly easy to access from major roads Very spacious rooms and decent beds Friendly reception staff The usual breakfast layout, but quite as good as other hotels I've stayed at
Room was huge and modern. Shower was small and not the best but could deal with that. Staff were very nice and helpful. Pool, sauna and steam room were a welcome addition. Was really nice to make use of these facilities before dinner at the restuarant. The restuarant was a bit disappointing...after having to wait for 45 min to be seated, as it was rather busy? We walked into a pretty much empty restuarant. The staff again were very pleasant but overall the food we had wasn't great. Me and my other half both had burgers and sides. The brioche buns were hard and flaking as if they had been defrosted in the microwave and toasted. Chicken overcooked and beef was dry. The Mac and cheese was literally cheesy pasta so overall it was really much to write home about.
But dinner aside it was generally a pleasant stay. Which was all we expected for a stop over night to break up a long journey.
We got married here 28.10.18. The staff were attentive and friendly from the moment we booked to after the wedding. Cammi was in charge on the day and she made sure every detail of the decor, food and day was taken care of personally by her and the staff. Including redressing the rooms and detailing the tables. She took all the stress off Sam and I and we floated through the day feeling relaxed that everything was taken care of. She even accounted when two of our guests decided they wanted something different to eat. She allowed us to enjoy the day and be in the moment without the worry of anything else.
It was the perfect day for our guests because she and the team took over everything using our instructions as well as their own initiative.
Our guests consistently complimented the food throughout the day and said the food was exquisite, elegant and home cooked.
An OK stay with a few niggles. Biggest was that the spa pool was out of order and there were over excited kids in the pool. Also in the pool was an earring or pin which my wife stood on - ouch! Shower in room was feeble too. Breakfast was fine apart from the black pudding which had the consistency of charcoal briquettes.
Efficient a friendly reception? Yes - very good check in and out
Good sized room with good facilities? Yes - almost American sized room (with a balcony), separate desk for laptop work as well as a chest of drawers with the TV on top. Masses of storage space - I don't have that much storage space at home.
Comfortable rooms? Yes - good beds, room a good temperature (can often be so hot in hotels) with the option of air con if required
Good location? Yes - nearest retail park and supermarket less than 10 minutes away by car, city centre probably around 15
Good facilities? Yes - great leisure centre with pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room as well as a well equipped gym
Down side? Pool a little small - four adults swimming just about fills it. Breakfast an expensive extra, cheaper to eat out
As I said, I'll be coming back and will pick breakfast up elsewhere
Disgusted with The Hallmark Mickleover Court Hotel in Derby, UK - July 28, 2017, due to an accident on the M40, my partner and I arrived late for check-in at the Hallmark Hotel Derby Mickleover Court. Unfortunately, due to tiredness we didn't check the sheets. The next day we rushed around and got ready for the wedding we were to attend. When we got back that night and I had a weird feeling that the room had not been cleaned and so I pulled back the sheets only to find them stained (see pics attached). We called the front desk to complain, The night manager came by and was rather embarrassed at what he saw when he looked at the bed. He proceeded to change out the sheets himself and offered a complimentary bottle of wine which we accepted . He said that he would report this to the day manager who would definitely be in contact with us in the morning. He stated that he felt that not only did the hotel fail us, but the supervisor for the cleaning staff and etc. also failed us because apparently all beds and rooms are supposed to be checked 3 times to ensure the rooms are cleaned properly before allowing guest to enter the rooms. The next day we checked out and my partner asked to speak with the manager. He was told the manger was not on duty and the front desk clerk felt that the bottle of wine and change of sheets was compensation enough and couldn't understand why we were still complaining and wanted some sort of compensation our stay there. She stated that the sheets had not been changed on the 29th which confirmed that we had slept in soiled sheets on the 28th. She stated that it was our duty to check the sheets upon arrival to make sure that they were clean. Absurb!!!! Since then my partner has been emailing the manager and managing director and to date have been ignored and have had no compensation. Somehow the management and staff of the hotel feel that it is quite acceptable to sleep in soil sheets. We are quite appalled at the lack of customer service and lack of response we have received. In my opinion we should have been fully refunded and for what is supposed to be a higher end Hotel I would rate it as the lowest I have ever stayed in and certainly would inform ANYONE who was considering staying in the Hallmark Mickleover Court Hotel in Derbyshire to think twice and if you do stay here make sure to check your sheets upon arrival. I don't think anyone appreciates sleeping in someone else's body fluids. Disgusting to say the least! As well if you expect great customer service from the Hallmark hotel management at either level think again because you will be ignored. Maybe they all sleep in stained and dirty sheets in their own homes and expect travelers to also do the same or think that most travelers will not report their ignorance, lack of respect and lack of common courtesy they show their customers.
Stayed at this hotel before and it is a really nice hotel with lovely food and staff members.
Visited again today and asked for a room upgrade due to sleeping on 2 separate single beds the last time and not finding it comfortable.
Amy and Hannah were really nice and thoughtful and complimentary upgraded me to a suite for the night. Great service from the 2 members of staff and highly recommend a visit to this hotel.
Totally amazing couldn't have wished for better service nothing was too much trouble & the food was fantastic couldn't fault it all. Very reasonably priced, excellent value for money. Would highly recommend it anyone. Fully looking forward to our son & future daughter in laws wedding in April, really feel that we will have no worries over the reception at all
We stayed at the Hallmark Mickleover Court for one night during June while attending a friend's wedding. The hotel, staff and amenities were all excellent. As a guest the wedding felt well run by attentive staff. Would gladly stay again wen visiting friends in the are
After we arrived in our room, the air con was not working and after we complained we were offered a bigger room on the roof. It was a family room with loads of space. Everything to expect from 4* hotel.
Hotel looks a little outdated on the outside, however the lobby area was very luxurious. Reception was welcoming a efficient. Room was good value for what we paid, bed was a little lumpy. Breakfast was included in our rate, which was buffet style, English and continental. It was good quality, hot and fresh. Check out was equally as efficient as check in. All in all a good stay.
Food was good, bed was great but the compliments stop there. TV was small and outdated, the rooms were cluttered with far to much furniture, however comfortable the bed it kept moving due to nothing holding it in place. The whole place looked a little run down and in need of some money being spent on it. But a pleasant stay and better then what you would have got with premier Inn or Travelodge
Absolutely amazing hotel, fantastic facilities, no problem with parking (complimentary) very clean and tidy including the room itself, friendly staff, the food and drink was also very good.
I didn't give five stars only because the A/C wasn't working in my room and it was a very hot weekend, and also the service from the bar staff could have been slightly better.
In summary I would recommend this hotel as a very good place to stay and would definitely consider staying again
from start to finish was a bit of a disaster really. don't really have much of a fault with the room apart from the tv remote batteries were flat and there was no refrigerator like it said on the website so we had to store our bottle drinks on the balcony to be able to have a cold drink throughout our stay. it was the food, service provided and the leisure centre that ruined our stay. firstly the food was deffinetly not 4* service... our package included breakfast for both guest, for the 2 days thats we was staying there. we only was only handed one leaflet for our breakfast, despite that we wouldn't of had it anyways it was appalling so dry and rubbery every part of the breakfast was so badly cooked, and we also had a meal from the resturant one night of our stay and that was just as bad, no taste and was just so dry! the chips were undercooked so were solid inside.I work in the food industry so I'm fully aware of the standard of food a 4* restaurant should be serving cheap disgusting food is all I'm going to say about that subject. our package also said it included 1 FREE complementary drink for each guest we had these with our meal which were only 2 pints of PEPSI! and they couldn't even get that right, it had just come from either a fresh barrel or the end of the barrel because it was completely flat! secondly the Jacuzzi was not relaxing at all, we had to get out within 2 or 3 minutes as it was so slimy and we were covered in long strands of hair within minutes, not very clean at all. and lastly the fire alarm. this completely ruined our whole stay. 10.35 is when the firealarm decided it stop ringing our ears. for a good hour, near enough every 30 seconds if that the alarm would alarm because of a fault in the system. not great when guest are trying to relax or sleep! if that wasn't enough it went off again at 3 o'clock in the morning. by that point I also heard people in rooms near us actually shouting in the hall ways because they were also annoyed with it. with the alarm going of we hardly got any sleep on our last stay and as you know check out is at 11 o'clock. but we still had 2 cleaners interrupt us sleeping knocking and entering our room even tho the in sign was on the door while we was in bed. on our first night we had a cleaner banging on the door early in the morning asking us if we wanted our room to be cleaned even though we put the in sign on the door yet again staying we didn't want our room serviced as it was only a two day stay so it resulted in me standing at the door for a good 5 minutes with nothing but my cover around me while she brought towels. our stay was just not the "relaxing get away for 2" we were promised when making the reservation.
