After leaving the Melrose Y over a decade ago we were delighted to return and find that the newly 'federated" Metro North consortium gave us access to a wide variety of facilities and programs. Sensitive to the challenges of the present viral environment we appear to be living with, the enthusiasm of staff, their attention to the details of maintaining a clean setting and the encouragement of mutual responsibility to that end is laudable. Our daughter and family have now recently joined as well, as we encourage others to do similarly. Great job!

The bathroom across from the workout room reeks. The entire basement area is in serious need of a better ventilation system. Also the fitness room need hooks for coats or cubbyholes in which to store belongings. No one is paying attention to details and cleanliness in this place. Terrible..

the people at the front desk could be a liiiiitle bit more friendly. I don't pay nearly as much for a membership anywhere else ($49.00), and the people at past gyms are way more helpful and friendly.

Yeah, it's not great. But the people who work there do as good a job as they can given the lousy money they make. My own beef is with the "wellness" room where they hold yoga. As someone mentioned, the ventilation in the basement is very bad, and it's even worse in this dark hole redolent of stinky sweat from the people who stretch out after using the equipment.. I get an asthma attack every time I go (which isn't often for that reason). There was some attempt to dry mop it more often after several of us complained, but it's back to the same old.

People on front desk are not properly trained and all give you different information and later you see charges on credit card. when you call back and ask them they we don't know who said that but then another person will give you different rule.

While I am a regular at the Campbell County YMCA, I've been scattering about town trying to find a YMCA that has better whirlpool/steamroom/sauna facilities to give my bulging discs in my back some love.

Thank God for the Melrose YMCA!

This place is wonderful and a gem of Walnut Hills. Granted, the facilities aren't brand new. In fact, some are pretty run down. All of that YMCA money went to renovating the Central Parkway YMCA downtown, and what did they do to their locker rooms? Betrayal! They yanked those awesome hot tubs and scrunched down the steam room. Boo.

Melrose thankfully still has a great steam room, sauna and whirlpool.

The downer for my situation is there is no childcare at this facility. So, I have to attend when I have some time without my kids.

One more thing, the people here are fantastic. VERY friendly, and I always feel welcomed to come.

I do not usually do reviews but felt that people should know to look at their account. Supposedly there was a "bug" where your monthly membership was charged twice then a redraft charge after giving your money back. I have called 3 times with still no apology from any of the people I spoke to that this has happened just to take accountability that their system caused this error. Also, given different stories of what happened to my account. Saying it was for a service that was paid on a different card or that it was my bank that processed it twice. I would not be putting this review if it was just a $20 membership. So no customer/member skills at this location. No accountability for their actions.
