Rude, terrible Customer Service, if I could negative, I would

The majority of their sales representatives have a know-it-all attitude and the funny thing is that they know a lot less than they think. They treat you cold and if you ever have a question they act like it's an inconvenience. They will not come up to you and ask if you need help so you end up standing at the counter for 10 minutes while they occasionally glance up at you, even if you're the only one there. It's very awkward . My first visit I would give three stars but every visit after has been worse . If you go in don't expect to be greeted or talked to like an adult, also make sure to do your homework because I went in looking for a pistol that they didn't even know existed (as of this post it's been out since the beginning of the year) . I'm done giving them chances or my money, and the ammo and range fees are overpriced . Just make the trip to Shoot Point Blank .

Before I start with this, I'll mention that we had previously gone to Article II to look at guns to buy before coming here but needed to see a CZ-75 in person.

We got in and the place was huge. I will admit they have a very large selection. I found guns that I hadn't really seen anywhere else, which was a good thing. Not the bad...

Everything was ridiculously overpriced. The guns we tried out were marked up 15-20%. I understand you need to make a profit, but seriously? We had much better prices at the other gun store we went to than we saw here. I figured, why not get some Ammo while we're here? I checked out their ammo selection and again, it was a large selection, but again, it was expensive. I walked out purchasing only 100 rounds of .22 ammo, which was also overpriced. I was disappointed to say the least.

Most places you talk to will at least let you transfer a gun to them if you buy it online. After all, they charge their FFL fee and they make some money that way. I asked them what they charged, and they told me they won't even take transfers. I guess that's how they force people to pay their prices. Still not what I'd call a great experience.

I was looking at the Beretta 92 and the CZ-75 and wanted to compare both of them as I was considering buying one of them. I ask the guy who was helping us to show me both guns, and he told me that they could only show us one gun at a time. Seriously? Over at Article II, our associate showed us 3 guns at once and would have showed us more if we were interested. Pathetic, really. On top of all that, the associate at this place was so "by the book" as if a hawk was watching him through the cameras to make sure he didn't make a single mistake. He looked extremely nervous. I'd suggest he find another job because we didn't feel comfortable being there.

At last, I figured that if I didn't like their guns, or their ammo, or their sales, perhaps I might like their range, so I asked them for their range fees, and the guy told me $28 per person. I nearly crapped my pants. Midwest Guns charges $20 per day, or $12 with $10 of ammo purchase. Article II charges $20 per day. Illinois Gun Works charges $10 per day for unlimited use. Why this place needs to charge $28 is beyond me. Needless to say, my wife and I will never be going back there again.

Wow, I'm perplexed by the bad reviews. I've had great experiences with all my purchases. My 12 year old son was even allowed to hold an LAR-15. Josh has been great. Answered all my questions. Helped me choose ammo. I'll continue to shop there.

They are selling serious products to the public. After all, we're not shopping for soap and towels. The managers have to act as sellers and security. Keeping that level of heightened awareness would make anyone a little stiff, and to some, that's intimidating. My advice is to not let that distract you. Stick with your plan. They've got a great selection. You don't have to go there to make a lifelong friend. Just buy a gun and exercise your 2nd amendment.

When I purchased a new gun they treated me okay. When I picked it up the boy had a attitude, was very annoying, was making sounds like my wife when she's mad! I spelled one thing wrong, it took him close to an hour to release the gun to me. I understand that things happen but let's treat the paying customer with a little more respect, and keep our bad attitude strange sounds to ourselves.

Great store with almost everything you'd need in the in the area of guns and accessories.

Pretty sweet store for gun and sports enthusiasts. Unfortunately it is in Illinois, which is overwhelming regulated, and requires a FOID card to even look at a firearm. And for me, being from out of state, this was a total buzzkill.

Walked in and was treated fairly well. Once I asked to see a firearm it was the customary "let me see your foid card" stuff. Then they would not sell me an AR because I live in cook country. Thanks for standing up for the Second Amendment. They government infringes on my rights enough, its awesome that an FFL does as well. Good job MegaCHODE.

Nasty and unprofessional customer service absolutely not recommended. employees give bad attitude as soon as you enter through the door

I understand that when selling a gun you have to take the correct precautions and they have a certain procedure to follow. I went into this store to buy my first gun and I have a phone case that is my wallet as well so from the beginning of walking into that store I was pulling out my phone case/wallet to show my foid card and Id. I am almost positive the guy seen my folded money of 100s sticking out of my wallet since it wouldn't fit all the way. I get an important phone call while I'm listening to the guy talk about the gun so I hand the phone to my girl to answer. Then when he asked am I paying cash I said yes and he asked to show him so I took my phone / wallet back from my girl. Then he goes to check with his manager about the purchase (not sure if that's part of the procedure) and they both come back saying that I can't buy the gun since someone gave me the money when my Id and everything else is in the wallet and phone case I had since the minute I walked into the damn store. I got the vibe as if they just didn't want to sell me the gun and were looking for a petty excuse. I even said I would use my debit card and they still denied me. They were rude about it and seem like they discriminate at this facility.

I moved to Plainfield at the end of April of this year from out of state. I have spent approximately $2000 in that short period. One of the things I purchased was a scope and mounting hardware for a gun that I had ordered. It was about $700. So when my rifle arrived I called to ask about mounting the scope on my rifle as well as boresighting. I was told that there will be a charge of $45 for this. I have never paid for that service before if I had purchased the scope from whichever I bought the scope from. So I told the individual on the phone that I was coming down soon. Upon my arrival I was the directed to go to the desk out back and see Mike, which I did. There was no one there. I patiently waited for 5 minutes. I then went to to the handgun counter and asked if Mike was around. The gentleman said yes he will be there at the desk momentarily. I returned to the desk for another 5 minutes and an individual fitting Mike's description saw me standing there and proceeded not to acknowledge me in any form. I went to the handgun counter again where this individual fitting Mike's description was standing. I asked if he was Mike and he said yes. I told him what I was there for and he started yelling me all the reasons why he couldn't do it on that particular day. He told me that the person I spoke to on the phone told him that I had called asking questions but told him that I was not coming to the store that day. It was very evident that he had no interest in doing the work. It turns out that Mike is a manager there. I left with and called the local Bass Pro Shop and they told me to come right down which I did. They were more than helpful. They took my rifle and scope and had it back to me in 10 minutes. I initially was told that it would be $25 but they only charged me $10 despite me insisting they charge me the $25. I explained to them about my experience with Mega Sports and they said that they have a horrible reputation in the area. I guarantee that Mega Sports will never see another dollar from me. I am in executive sales management for a 350 million dollar company and I will use Mega Sports in my future sales seminars on how not to conduct business.

This place has plenty of firearms, but very pricey. I prefer a smaller store. And dont bother going here for 9mm ammo.

Big selection always, professional workers, good deals.

they have a great selection but the people are kind of robotic. i turns into a hassle buying from them because the people have no input on the guns that they have there now i have shopped at smaller shops and the workers have helped greatly in my decisions on buying weapons this place is my go 2 only for rifles because they have a wide selection other then that ill go elsewhere

Mega sports, more like mega diaper, the store is a joke, sign when you walk in looking for employees $10 an hour and must be 21 Must be why the employees service is terrible, they are miserable with their bad lives, drove here with my son almost an hour and they wouldn t let him in because he was 18 with no foid, but they let a 12 year old right in-front of me in, never will spend my money here even though they have good prices, I d rather spend my money on a company who values their customers,

This is Not a place i would spend my hard money at. Go to a place that actually understands how to run a business. I own several firearms and I'm thankful i never spent a dime here besides on some ammo about 2 months ago unfortunately. Terrible customer service! They defintitly judge people here. Im a Proud American and support fully OUR SECOND AMENDMENT! THIS PLACE IS A JOKE.

There is a great selection and the range is clean. However, the dealbreaker is that their prices are high for everything. Don t forget your FOID even if you have your CCL as this will prevent you from holding or purchasing a weapon. This is not an issue with any other business. IL doesn t require CCL holders to carry their FOID

The largest selection of guns, knives, and accessories I have ever seen under one roof.

There is a very nice selection all sorts of firearms here.

The staff can be slow to help, but they are all extremely knowledgeable and patient.

The prices are in line with what one expects from a brick and mortar firearms shop.

I'm going to bet that the comments about the rude staff are from other "know it alls". As a novice shooter I have found the sales reps to be very helpful, considerate, and humorous, including the guy with the long beard.

The place has a great selection on everything. Don't be afraid to check them out but go on a weekday if you can. Saturday's are packed to no end and you can hardly get a spot at the counter.

Purchased a few items. Basically fair pricing. Bummed about service. When I asked a few questions, I was told "I don't know " and it was simply left that way. I would've hoped to have something more than a clipped response. I should've spent my money elsewhere.

Great selection of stuff here. I'll always come here to look at something or see if I like it but I'll probably go somewhere else to buy it. They're a little more on the pricey side and some of the staff is pretty dismissive. Ammo pricing is pretty competitive but they range is pretty expensive for hand guns only. Do really enjoy the large selection though. Store is always clean and well stocked they do have a nice area to clean up after going to the range. They don't have a smith or anything in house.

Was there around 2:15pm. The lady at the door greeted me. I told her it was my first time there. She was very helpful and directed me to the gun range . There I was greeted by another hlepful gentleman. I had a very positive experience. I will be back again. Loved the gun range.

Let me start by saying this gun shop is huge, they probably have the biggest selection of guns in the will county area. That being said, they know it too. So their employers usually come off cocky and egotistic. They will choose who they serve first and most people say they are slightly rude with women and treat them all like newbies.

Been coming here for ten years and thousands of my hard earned dollars spent here. Scott, Mike, Nick, Andrew, Bob, and all the rest of the staff past and present, you guys are stellar! Always have felt welcome and always love dropping in. Thank you. - Big Baldy

This place sucks dont go there. They are sooo rube to there customers. They say that you can buy something then turn around and say that you cant. They are megasuck not megasports. Passed 3 associate before even being asked if I needed help.

Came here with my husband and two out of country plus one out of state friend. None of us have been to a range (in IL) before and we visited Megasports to see about the experience. The man working the range (Michael, I believe his name was?) expected us to understand what was going on and how it worked, despite us all explaining we had never been to a range before. We are all above age, not coming in being rude or obnoxious, trying to have an experience with each other. He had a major attitude and spoke to us with utter disrespect immediately. He also ignored my husband when he initially said excuse me? Trying to get his attention to help us at the beginning.
My husband and I will not bring business here ever after this man s utter disrespect.

If you are an out of state resident don't even bother going to this place. Extremely rude to people who rent the lanes and they are totally against outside people buying and looking at guns. -10 stars

Went in intending to browse for a Mossberg and came across a semi auto FN SAW. Being such an oddity I wanted to take a picture of the thing at which point an employee abruptly and curtly demanded I delete it. There's not a single no picture sign anywhere that I could see. Also their prices were a hundred dollars or higher across the board for anything compared to every brick and mortar store is been to. One employee was actually helpful prior to being condescended to.

I visited Mega Sports for the first time yesterday and although they have an amazing selection, listening to people standing in line, there usually seems to be a line waiting to get in and there is no shade until you get very close to the front door. I think there has to be a better method than making senior citizens stand outside in 93 degree heat for two hours in the blazing sun. Since everybody seems to have cell phones nowadays, perhaps they could come up with a system where an office employee could periodically come out and take cell phone numbers then the customers could wait in their cars until they were called to come in. Other than that, I would have given them 5 stars.

This waste of a retail space "sporting store" is the worst place to buy a gun or shop for anything for that matter. They obviously are riding the high of carrying product in high demand but as soon as that demand, business model or political impact (just like anything in retail) fizzles gun demand, I hope this store closes. They are rude, inconsiderate, and talk down on everyone. They obviously don't understand the lifetime value of a customer which is surprising because they still sell services, consumables, and rent range time. I can assure you they lost me as a customer forever and I will buy my guns, ammo, classes for my wife and range time from the other 50 places in the area. Buy anywhere but here. I would give negative stars if I could.

They were very patient with me and were more than happy to answer my questions about semi automatic pistols . As i have never owned one (revolver guy) they made me feel comfortable

This is the only gun store in the area that will earn my repeat business. Highly knowledgeable staff and unbelievable selection of firearms, safes, accessories, ammo and supplies. The range is super clean and offers a balanced selection of rentals. Family owned business with a far superior firearm selection compared to other stores in the area, especially compared to Cabelas and Bass Pro. Can't wait to go back, will try to make a trip for one of their event days.

I have never seen a more childish display from a business owner. More concerned about their parking spots than their overpriced guns and range. Have purchased from in the past. Wont again.

I took my kids today to the gun range and the lady immediately stopped us and said if your kids don't have a FOID card they can't come in here. I have my FOID but she wasnt hearing it. The staff is rude and unprofessional and obviously not following the law. I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED NOT EVER GOING TO THIS BUSINESS EVER!!! They don't want you there!!! Really! I took my kids to the Range on 355 and they are awesome and kind and professional. Mega Sports can careless if you go there or not.

Called for price on firearm, they took my number and promised to call back. Never did. Purchased my new baby at Asgard Arms.

Went to range today and it was a lot of fun. The place was nice and clean and the staff was very helpful and nice. I bought a box of ammo there which was average price and the range was an affordable $17 for the day. They even let you come back later in the day and still shoot if you like.

Afterwards I browsed their huge selection of guns and was approached numerous times by people asking if I needed help. I read some poor reviews on here so thought I should post because my experience was fantastic and I'll be going there frequently.

I'm new to shooting and they were very knowledgeable and professional with answering all my questions, great staff and great selection.

Staff very helpful. Prices are good. Indoor range can only be used for handguns or .22.

Great customer service. Great selection of anything you need for home/self defense to hunting and fishing. A little pricey but worth the customer service from their vast knowledge of their variety of products to making sure you leave happy with your shopping experience with them.

I was in on "Black Friday" weekend and purchased a firearm from Nick. Nick was unbelievably helpful and knowledgeable. He was patient when I looked at 5-6 different makes of firearms and demonstrated a great understanding of each and every manufacturer. I have seen a lot of negative reviews here and that was NOT my experience.

All the ammunition and large gun selection make this a regular stop. Ammo prices are on par with other shops but a good variety to choose from. Range does not permit long rifle which is a shame but they are nice for pistols. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and always put safety first. Megasports is a regular visit for me!

Employees are nice. Rules on range are too particular. Won't let you shot a particular type of ammo, no bench shooting, etc.

For the most part my experience was good and most of the people there are friendly. However, that being said, the gentleman at the range admission was very rude. I simply asked him if we could get some assistance, and he snapped back saying that wasn't his job. I of course was well aware that wasn't his position, but he didn't even give me the chance to finish my sentence before cutting me off rudely.

However the gentleman that assisted us with purchasing our safe was a top-notch Salesman and very polite. it's unfortunate that Mega Sports gets such negative reviews due to a few individuals who don't want to take their job seriously.

Their customer service is horrible they will treat you like you know nothing and don't even let you inspect your purchase until you pick it up. I spent over a grand on one gun and was still treated horribly if they were not the only gun store I could find in northern Illinois or southern Wisconsin that had what I was looking for I would have never gone and after their treatment I wish I had just waited the six months to a year it would have taken to order what I was looking for from my local gun store. Needless to say I will never go back to their store again not even to have them fix the busted rear sight on the gun they sold me "new".

Staff is super rude and if they dont like the way you look you wont be helped without asking.very very judgemental. Way over priced for there stuff but they do have almost everything so if you wanted to look at something first they'll more than likey have it.

I was recently at mega sports with my son on 5/13/18. I was referred to this place by my close friends. Was very disappointed with my visit. Was browsing around the store looking at the guns they had in their department .Not even one employee ever assisted me. At this point I felt that i was being discrimnted because their were other people being constantly assisted besides me . My son found what he needed which was amunition.So me and my son went to go check out at the registers. When my son was checking out at the registers they asked him for his Foid card which the obviously are suppose to ask. But then the employee asked for my card as well. Which made no sense to me because I was not purchasing anything my son was. I asked the employee why he needed it. He responded I m going to need it because they are going to ask me anyways. Which made no sense. Then I show him my Foid , and concealed and carry card. At this point I was pist. Now I knew for a fact that I was being discriminated. I couldn t believe that just happened to me.I currently shop at other stores like Cabelas and Point Blank and that has never happened to me before. Very dissatisfied with my vist. Don t plan on ever coming to this store again. All just because I m a Latino American I was treated this way its disgusting!

Just left Mega sports Nick was very helpful and very informative, great asset to the company I will defiantly be back for more purchases in the future.

I have been going to Mega sports for years. There expensive on mostly there guns but not to bad on other things. You will not find a bigger selection in this area to shop for guns. I see bad reviews about the staff but I have never had a issue at all with them . I went there yesterday and the guy at the front counter was very friendly and the guy at the range was very helpful and knew what he was talking about. The only thing that sucks big time can't shoot rifles or shotguns there.

I came in today to purchase a marlin 45-70 and was told I could not purchase the firearm because I didn t have a drivers license. I did however have my state id and foid card on me. I would not recommend this place to anyone. You can tell they are looking down on you from the second you walk in there.

The management here does not care in the least for the customer. Mind you been a fan since they opened but their egos have well overtaken the square footage. Do yourself a favor shop elsewhere.

Great help and selection, just wish they were closer

Well, I guess that Mega Sports, along with many other businesses have forgotten about customer service. A friend and I were halted at the door and our FOID cards were demanded from an employee who had the personality of a can of paint. After we produced said cards, we were allowed to enter the building. What is next metal detectors, body scanners, how about a pat down like people receive at Midway Airport? We noticed a line off to the right side of the entrance and were informed that if we wanted to check out at a gun we had to wait in line. At that time the wait was over 30 minutes, it looked like they only had four maybe five employees selling guns. I never thought that Mega Sports had great service but it use to be ok. Upon reflection, I realized that I had spent over 5000 dollars in this store over the last 3 years so. Looks like Mega Sports does not want my business anymore and that is ok, there are many other gun shops in the area that can have my money. There is high demand for items such as ammunition, guns and such, because of nation wide shortages - when supply catches up to the demand people will have more options to buy product at other stores who will not treat people like crap.

People complain because they re strict, but strict =safe, so I don t mind. They have great selection, daily stock deliveries, and knowledgeable employees. I ve found them to be friendly, but honestly... even if they weren t I d give them a pass for it. They ve got a business to run and they run it well. With all the scrutiny they re under because of their industry, honestly, I d rather have them be strict than friendly (if I had to choose). Strict is still open tomorrow... friendly might not be. Like I said, I ve never had an issue, I just know what others are saying and I think it s silly...

Great staff, great selection, nice range. Showed up for Sig Sauer day got a nice free Sig Sauer range bag free Sig hat with the purchase of my new Sig p938 also entered the drawing to win a new Sig Sauer P320. To my surprise I received a call the following morning and they told me my name was pulled and I am the winner of the drawing for the new Sig Sauer P320. I was jumping up and down for the entire day. What a fantastic pistol. Thank you Sig Sauer! Thank you Mega Sports. I love shopping here regardless of free stuff winning or losing. Great selection, the staff knows what they are talking about and if they don't have the answers they will get for you.

I'm a disabled Vietnam Era Marine Corps Vet. It was difficult for me to stand at the computer to fill out their form after standing in line for nearly an hour. As a result of that I made an error on the form. The staff didn't tell me what I did wrong and would not allow me to fix the mistake. I was not allowed to buy the gun and was banned from buying a gun from them for 3 years. People like this are the reason we have middle fingers.

It is a great store, with friendly service and one of the largest selections in a 1 hour radius. I bought a firearm from them (still is in great shape), and when I came back several months later for more supplies, they recognized me, remembered what I bought, and even gave me some tips for the range. At no time did they try to upsell me to a more expensive item, and they never tried to throw in extra items. Every employee there knows what they are talking about, and thoroughly knew what they were talking about. I would highly recommend it. As for the other reviews based on race and gender, I have no idea, since I have been in with men and women alike and they treated neither any differently. The range is only accessible if you are over 21, but that is the owner's rules, and that is the only "inconvenience" I have noticed.

Great people, individual attention, and all the services that I needed at the time

This place is HUGE and has wall to wall guns and rifles as far as the eye can see! Staff is helpful and almost always available (sometimes gets busy int he store). Their range is clean and nice, always available lanes. Prices are a bit on the high side, no law enforcement discounts, and they have strict rules such as no range shooters without a FOID card even if you're with someone who has one, and also no selling rifles to Cook County residents. These rules are above and beyond the state laws and there are other places you can go in Illinois that will allow someone to shoot with a FOID card holder even without having one. Still, a great go-to for guns and supplies!

Dear Mega Bucks,

The sky high prices of your merchandise is only surpassed by the consistent ignorance and disrespect show to your customers by your staff. I will never set foot in your store again. To anyone on the fence about shopping here. One word. Don't! Go to any one of the other stores and leave with your dignity and wallet intact.

Man it is good I dont live around this place or I would be broke! They have a massive selection and a friendly staff.

Never made it past the front counter. I was told they had a great selection and lots of inventory. It looked like they did but after I drove 2 hours to get there I was rudely told I couldn't enter without my foid card. This is just the store's policy. I explained I would keep my hands in my pockets and didn't need to touch anything. The place was empty of customers and there were 4 or 5 sales people standing together looking bored. The attitude of the manager was very rude and she made it clear she didn't need my business. I will not revisit this place.
