I have been seeing 1 internist for about 30 years....

I have been seeing 1 internist for about 30 years. He then went and became a consierge doctor. Knowing and loving this doctor for all those years really hurt when he moved on but trust me, I can COMPLETELY understand.
Now the bad news, I really HATE having to call in for really mundane things that would be answered in two second by email. I can understand why you wouldn't want to give out everyone's email - what chaos. However, why couldn't there be like a central email one could write to, and then that machine be able to either automatically or manually send the email to the proper person. No one outside of the office would know the emails and the emails would get routed very quickly. I can't believe there's nothing like this.
The next bad thing, your billing really sucks! I saw a doctor on 1/17/17. This past Monday, the 30th of January, I think, I called because I wanted to give y'all the majority of my deductible but was told that posting bills was backed up to the 5th of January. The bills are in no particular order so they couldn't even pull my bill. It was the first visit this year and I tried and tried to get this lady to help me and she tried and kinda tried and then it was no we couldn't do it. I even offered to come and help for nothing. Do you know how much paper you waste by letting the machine pay "across" bills and not "within" bills. I told, I think her name was Lilly that I wanted my bills to be paid within because I was tired of seeing my bill from January of 2016 every time I got a bill. Your system should give you the option of doing either within or across, I know I dealt with billing systems for many years. There is a note on my chart that says to be within. However, since a LOT of the bills are paid by the ladies checking you in and out, they don't see that note. All they do is put the money in and let the machine do what it does. You people need to get a grip on your internal systems.
Thirdly, where is your portal program. EVERYONE has one now and my GOD how awesome they are. You can make appointments, see your medical history, SEND EMAILS, ask for refills, etc. You have built a beautiful ediface. Now it's time to concentrate on your infrastructure. You are way behind your times.

They don't do a good job of verifying insurance and make me pay amounts that they also receive from my insurance company and unless you call them, they don't issue the refund and let the credit sit in your account. This has happened 3 times in the past 4 visits.

$5 for parking seems unfair, especially when you are required to come several times in a week. Street parking is very limited and prohibited in most areas due to Rice University. Discounted parking would be nice. As for valet, there should be a volunteer group. Most of the seniors require assistance/valet and shouldn't have to pay $10 or more for this.

Some how this place has taken a serious turn for the worse. Very rude people. They seem to make you think you have no choice. And enjoy it when you are thwarted (they thwart you) in your intentions to improve your health. The doctors seem fine but you have to work thru their staff. Doctor Achari's staff for example. The medical records lady is a real sweetheart too. Sad about this place..

We picked Dr. McKee as my husband internal medicine docotor and Ihave to say we are very happy with him and this office. Parking is attached and is only $5 plus they were able to do my husbands labs in the room, EKG, and CXR all at the same location with very minimal wait time. Dr. McKee is growing his practice but we loved how he spend very good amount of time with my husband, never seemed in a hurry and was very plesant to conversate and explain things. I would only recommend his MA to smile more and show she is happy to be working with patients. She seemed mad or maybe she didn't like us, but other than that awesome office.

Nice Doctor. This clinic is something from another time. Paper charts. Labs that mishandle your blood, and you have to leave work to have it redrawn, with more parking fees & time missed from work. Results that take several months because their transcription department is backed up beyond belief (who does this anymore?), and phones that go to voicemail, no matter where you call. After a full day of trying to return a call and leaving a variety of messages, no one had the courtesy of a return call. Truly horrible support care. They will be gone soon, as every part of their process reeks malpractice. The worst clinic operation in Houston. Truly an embarrassment for what probably is a good Dr.

This review is for Jonathan Magid, MD. I found out about Dr. Magid from a friend of mine. This friend had ankle surgery performed by one of the top orthopedic doctors in Houston. My friend was also new to Houston and needed a general practitioner. The doctor gave him Dr. Magid's name. Already a positive sign.

Since his on-the-spot diagnosis of an unusual systemic condition which had been plaguing me for weeks and had other doctors confused, I have been nothing but impressed by Dr. Magid. He is intelligent, witty, and a good listener. I don't meet many doctors I would recommend, but Dr. Magid is one of the good ones.

We decided to stop dealing with this clinic for being extremely rude with us, they hold us in the building for the payment. We had an issue with the insurance because my wife became the primary holder for her policy recently and the insurance company did not update her profile. The front desk lady was uneducated and extremely rude, she made us like laires and I saw her laughing on us when she was calling the other lady afte we told her that insurance fixed up the issue. Also, Dr. Khatri does not provide us with enough details if we ask her, she just wants to stay for a few minutes and leaves. I have never felt there is time for a patinet. Basically, rudes and not helpful.

Reviewing for Dr Garcia and his staff. I am appalled by the customer service provided by this office. No calls returned ever. Was lied to in regards to covered services, which turned out not to be covered. Spoke to someone over the phone named Elia, for 3 weeks now she says I ll call back but never has. We are being billed $400 for tests we did not consent to, and when questioned they said well..."you signed a waiver". I dont think that waiver works that way.
I cannot believe such dishonesty!

There are seriously not enough superlatives for a review of the care I received from Dr. Magid. I was referred to him by Dr. Dean Smith, a hand doctor at Memorial Hermann. For a few years, whenever I went to a doctor and had my vitals checked, my blood pressure was consistently elevated. Since I'm 95 pounds, vegan and a long-distance runner, the nurses and doctors always chalked it up to "white coat syndrome." After Bob Harper (one of the trainers on The Biggest Loser) suffered a near-fatal heart attack in the gym, I decided I needed to stop blowing off something that was potentially life-threatening. As one of the other reviews noted, he has an unbelievable sense of humor and uses it to reduce the inherent stress and fear that comes with seeing a physician. He ordered a panel of blood work and had me wear a 24-hr blood pressure monitor which bore out what I already knew. Not a shocker. A week after he put me on a low dose BP Rx, my follow-up reading was normal. I am both relieved to have gotten over my fear to get this handled and grateful to have found a fantastic doctor in the process. If you need a PCP or internist, go see Dr. Magid - you won't regret it. I have never felt so well taken care of (ha ha - sorry to end the sentence and my review with a preposition!).

I may never EVER go here again. I have been a patient for over 20 years, used to be great and I lost my beloved doc due to concierge changes. Changed to a new doc there and have been trying to feel in step with her for 6 years.
NOW I have requested a medicine refill (due to CV-19) and they refused saying I was (just now mind you) due for my annual physical. REALLY?!? You want me to come into your office when I am trying to prep for the CDC, state, governmental 'medically recommended quarantine'??
I find this medically dangerous bordering on mindless malpractice that could put me at risk. I have NEVER not done my annual physical. This medication is a long standing regular (over 10 years, never changed the dose etc.) type of medication. Illogical decision.

As medical professionals, they are supposed to be leading the way, guiding health and healthy choice and decisions. Irresponsible at this critical time in our history. Shame on you.
I would give them no stars if I were able. : (

Paid out of pocket for appointment on January 2, 2018. Today, October 10, I got my refund. I called the clinic 5 times before I was able to get it. Absolutely ridiculous. The appointment itself was not even good. Concerns were not addressed, just brushed aside. Will not be back and do not recommend.

I had an appointment with Dr. Kelly O'Brien for an annual physical exam, and I have to say, she is absolutely the most thorough and fantastic doctor I have ever seen. She took a very detailed family and personal medical history, asked gently about any concerns I had, really went above and beyond to give me the best care possible. The front desk and billing staff is friendly, the nursing staff was incredibly helpful and caring. The facility is really nice, and the exam rooms are comfortable.

For these reasons, I'm extremely sad to have to give this place such a negative review...however, after walking in for an annual physical, I walked out to the same experience that many others seem to have had, which was a significant bill for unexplained blood work. I called my health insurance provider, they could not explain why some of the tests would need to be done, I called the office and they said I had the option of leaving a message for the doctor asking about why the tests were done. My frustration stems from the fact that as a 20-something, healthy adult who specifically asked for the basic tests that were covered by my insurance, I walked out with $230 in fees for tests that don't seem necessary. Upon calling the billing department (although they are super friendly), I was informed that they know that my insurance provider has this issue, and they have warned the clinic staff about it...so with that being the case, why were the tests performed in the first place after I specifically stated to several members of the clinical staff that I would prefer not to incur extra costs? After asking all of these questions from billing, the only thing I was told is "this is how it is, I'm sorry, there's nothing else we can do." If you want fantastic care and you're ok with spending extra money on tests that your insurance will almost definitely not consider preventative, I would honestly recommend this clinic.

I have gone to this Clinic for over 27 years. Upon arriving the valet service is warm and welcoming. They are always prompt and courteous. I especially appreciate how they help people in need of extra help. I have witnessed them take all the care In the world to each and every person that comes to the clinic. I have seen several doctors over the years. Some are no longer with the clinic and some have moved onto the concierge model. So Hence, I am being seen by Dr Jennifer Guss. She is always prompt and courteous. She takes time to review your case prior to meeting with you. She seems to generally care about your health but your overall well being. She orders the necessary test to help you maintain your overall health. Her office staff is gracious, friendly and books your appointments to work around your schedule. I always say the sign of a great doctor is one who keeps the same office staff. I love that they email to confirm your appointments and text to remind. I love that feature. I also appreciate having all the services available at their location. Wonderful place to receive medical care.

Not only has Dr Martin White cared for and treated three generations of my family I have to say I believe he is greatly enabled by his office staff. His office has an effective system for getting you booked for an appointment or X-rays or delivery of test results. Regardless of age or illness my family has received the best of care. At this time of my life , age 70, and with a kyphoplasty, walking can be painful. I find I greatly appreciate the parking options here. I have the choice of close, covered adjoining self parking or valet. The area in which I wait for my car and the manner which I pay for the parking facility and service is safe and clean. Overall, the facility is tastefully decorated with an intelligent design. I feel fortunate to have the Medical Clinic of Houston in my life.

This place is VERY poorly run. It took almost two months to receive blood test results. Took another SEVEN phone calls to finally get someone on the phone to make the follow up appointment for me. It's four days later and I still don't have the results from the scan. The people sound annoyed when you ask them to do their job. There is no empathy in their demeanor. Dr. Meyer has a nice bedside manner and is competent but I will be switching doctors so I do not have to deal with this poor excuse for a medical facility again.

Edit: I have read your response. I was 8 minutes late. Literally 8 minutes. My wife was the next appointment. We could have visited together. We drive an hour and a half to see Dr Guss. I hsve never been late before. Is there no understanding? It was my wifes first appointment and she was changing to Dr Guss. When the nurse came out and said she would not see me the receptionist said " hes not late, hes been in line" . This is because 1 person was checking in patients and three desks were empty. So dont make it appear that i was 30 minutes late. Here is a novel idea...why dont you do what i do in my office when i am slammed and i have an unexpected client pop in or emergency or delay... why dont you work a little harder, maybe skip lunch or take a short one, thats what i do. Read the other reviews. This staff is the absolute worst.
Original review:
Dr Guss was a good doctor, but the staff here was the worst I've ever experienced. I tried to maintain a relationship, and did my best to ignore the demeaning, condescending manner in which I was treated, but every time I went in for a visit, there was someone treating me, like I was lucky to be there. Like I didn't have a choice, I should just be happy that I was accepted. I really am sad that I have to leave, but I simply cannot allow myself to be treated with disrespect and continue going. If you don't mind being talked down to and treated like you are less of a person, this is your place, but if you want to feel like you are appreciated as a patient and that your best interest is put first, then you must find another clinic to visit. Part of me is sad because I try to build a bond with my doctor but surprisingly, deep down, I am so relieved to know I won't be disrespected any longer.Oh, and next you will see a reply from the owner stating how happy they are that I left my "important feedback" yet, you can scroll through the years of negative reviews about the service in this clinic, and nothing is ever done about it. How about this, "owner", tell me not how sorry you are, but what exactly you have done regarding this substandard staff you employ. ? Yeah, that's what I thought. Just another excuse.

I went in for a Covid-19 test and the process was easy and fast! I called my primary doctor, Dr Khatri, and her office asked me a few questions and scheduled me for an appointment the same day. The instructions were very clear and the phone number they provided once I got there was picked up immediately and had a nurse out to test me in 15 mins. The nurse was kind and explained the whole thing so I was comfortable. Whole process, from calling to getting tested, took ~1 hour and my results were back within 3 hours. Love Medical Clinic of Houston!

Front staff on the 5th floor is rude. The clinic does not have an Electronic Medical Record System, so it took 3 weeks for my results to be mailed. I would have expected a call for follow up a few days after an ultrasound instead of a letter that took 3 weeks to arrive. My labs and ultrasound were abnormal, yet I never received a call.
When I called 3 weeks later to find out what had happened, I was told they were backed up and did not have time to write the letters yet. Letters? I should have received a call for abnormal results. Since Houston is a competitive place to have a medical practice, I would expect more.......
Don't waste your time - go somewhere else. There are only a dozen other places right down the street :)

Unfortunately I will look for a new doctor. My doctor at sunset was excellent BUT the lack of up to date technology is a big deal breaker for me. It is imperative that they invest in technology to allow patients to have access to their results online. I don t have time to go in person, pay for parking to pick up results. It is 2019, please it is time to evolve.

I recently started receiving care from the Rheumatology Department here (specifically Dr. Mona Iverson and her staff) and I absolutely LOVE it. I had gone to another rheumatologist prior and this experience makes up for every horrible thing I have gone through. Everyone I have encountered on the staff is amazingly friendly and has gone out of their way to make my experience pleasurable. All of Dr. Iverson's staff: the front desk receptionist, the lady who does appointments for injections, the nurses -- everyone is fabulous! The x-ray tech in Radiology was wonderful, especially considering I had to get upwards of 25 x-rays from her! I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a new rheumatologist!!! You must go see Dr. Mona Iverson and team! I travel over 30 miles just to see her! The bill my insurance accurately, and I have paid leaps and bounds less than my previous doc. 10 stars and two thumbs up!!

Made an appointment with Dr. Iverson s office to obtain a second opinion for my diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis and upon their office calling for my insurance info, they were surprised to see that I was blocked as a patient. I haven t even been there in 10+ years. But the sweet Nursing Admin WAS HAPPY to remove it. UNFORTUNATELY, Dr. Eichelberger evidently was the one who blocked me and only he can take the block off of my chart. Suffice it to say, he didn t nor would return any of my phone calls asking him why he would block me. SO DISAPPOINTED because my entire family sees at least one physician at their clinic. This tells me it s more about Dr. Eichelberger owning a third of the practice and has absolutely nothing to do with anything else. He NEVER EVEN SENT ME ANY CORRESPONDENCE or anything about me being BLOCKED . Very unprofessional IN MY OPINION. All about money and no care or compassion for his or the facility s patients IN MY OPINION.

The Billing group treats patients as adversaries. ...

The Billing group treats patients as adversaries. In reviewing an EOB from February, it showed I did not owe a copay. Yet in the four months since, Medical Clinic Billing did nothing - neither refund my copay nor appeal the EOB.

When I called to request a refund of my copay, English, the billing rep, asked me "How is the Clinic supposed to get reimbursed for line item [xyz]?" I said my EOB says I owe nothing and want a refund of the copay. She put me on hold then came back and said they were resubmitting the claim. No refund.

I then spoke with the Finance Director, Stuart, who was also less than cooperative. He refused to refund the copay because the Clinic would appeal the claim. Despite his billing dept not doing their job back in February (neither refunding my copay as the EOB indicated nor submitting an appeal), he refused to acknowledge his department is not doing their job. He blamed Dr. Williams for the error.

Stuart acknowledged the error was the Clinic s, yet refused to refund my copay on the chance that the appeal will result in my owing the copay. I believe this behavior is unethical.

Kelsey Seybold runs their billing department better.

My internist, Dr Stoecker-Simon, is the best doctor I have ever had. She found my cancer early, which saved my life. Plus she didn t drop me as a patient when I lost my insurance. She is the most caring and patient doctor I have ever met. I wish more doctors were like her!

The only complaint I have is with the a couple of members of the clinic s staff. Some of the ladies have been extremely rude to me in the past. It has only happened when I had to do a test that my doctor ordered, such as a cat scan. It has happened on two distinct occasions. I will not go into the details, but I will say that they desperately need more training in customer service. Most of the staff is wonderful, but a few bad apples can ruin the whole barrel.

I love the doctor. I've been going to this clinic since 1986, but I have to complain about the telephone system. Doctors should be able to be contacted directly, not through a central switchboard. But when you do get to the doctor's office, the messages are excessively long. Today I tried to leave a message for a nurse and was cut off after giving my name and birth date as instructed. Not even enough time to give a phone number. There needs to be some capability to communicate through email. My concern today was very minor but I had information the doctor asked me to get. There was no way to just leave the information on your phone system. I had to request an apt because then at least I'll get a call back so I can explain.

I had an ultrasound here 3.5 weeks ago and have not received the results. The clinic billed my insurance almost immediately for the test and were paid by my insurance fully weeks ago. Meanwhile, I still haven't received any results from the test, so it just seems like they are running tests for money without any concern for patient well-being. I'm going to contact my insurance company and see what they can do since the clinic won't give me the results. Go elsewhere.

Horrible experience in Radiology Department! Wrong...

Horrible experience in Radiology Department! Wrong info and direction given to patients caused extra $100 charge in MRI test last year without pre-approval from BCBS, this year remains the same, yet from administrative staff in the front desk (Lily) to her supervisor, all refused to admit their mistake! Cannot submit personal health to this kind of staff. Therefore I cancelled the MRI test with them even though I have already arrived and finished the x-ray! They just shrugged their shoulders: "Do whatever you like, who cares!" I decided to do MRI in other imaging center, never come here again! Can't submit myself to a facility that sticks to their mistake and refuses to change.

Detail: last year when I scheduled MRI test, I was told they would get insurance pre-approval, yet I got charged not having pre-authorization. I called billing office, they said it's my responsibility to do that. Yesterday, I went to see a doctor in the morning and scheduled a same day MRI test in the afternoon. I really pressed on that to make sure it would not happen again. They said they got insurance approval, it's okay to go on. From morning till afternoon, nobody told me to call my insurance to get pre-approval. Then I pulled out my MRI bill from last year, saying "then it's your mistake". At that moment, she changed: "You should call, call now, it's your responsibility!".......

I will change review after Monday's visit to 5 stars (hopefully). Called Tuesday and made a 3:30pm appointment to see my Internist, drove 55 minutes, to find out I was not listed for the Friday appointment. Been coming here since early 2000 and also treated by Oncologist and Cardiologist at this facility. The first time this has happened. Appointment reset for 1:15 pm April 10. This Clinic and Doctors (special thanks to my Internist for his due diligence locating a cancerous tumor in 2005) are responsible for my being alive today.

While I love many of the Dr s at MCH the security guard was extremely rude to me and repeatedly reached inside of my vehicle while berating me for mistakenly using the valet entrance when self parking. When I asked if I was free to leave he again grabbed a hold of my vehicle and did not let go until I started to roll my window up. I then had to walk past him again to get to my dr and he told me very rudely to get to my appointment. I was so shaken by both him physically grabbing my vehicle and reaching in through my window towards me that my blood pressure was initially elevated. Not what I want when just going to see my PCP.
