We went here for my daughter's field trip and on most I feel like my money wasn't well spent, however this was worth every penny of the admission price. The IMAX was one of the largest I've ever been to, and there are four floors (1-3 and the basement) of learning and activity centers. We were here for three hours and didn't even get to enjoy half of what it had to offer. I'm planning to take the whole family for this. I liked that the activities weren't only geared toward littles but also the older kids can enjoy them as well.

We were in town this week with the kids and just started googling for things to do with kids and this came up. it's a great place to come with kids and enjoy it also as an adult. Entrance fees are pretty good, 9 for children and 13 for adults. I did find a Groupon for 1/2 off and used it. Lots of different areas and games to play and experiment with. Food court has pizza hut, subway, Chinese and hotdogs and hamburger place.
There is also an imax theater with 3 different movies the day we went there.
Overall we spent about $50 for several hours of fun for 4 including lunch.
Can't beat that!!!

Love this place. We spend endless hours there during the hot or cold months! Perfect place for kids to safely play and have a blast. I have nothing negative to say about the place!!! We have been members for 3 years now. highly recommended.

Very nice place to take the kids and even grown-up. You get to touch the sharks and stings rays...the movie screen oh yeah plus it's cheap not high at all to do everything available. They have pzzahut and othe places to eat inside. Just really have to go to get it all.

Definitely go. There are three floors. The first two floors tend to be the same, but nonetheless it's always exciting to go, no matter how old you are. They change the third floor every month or so. It's very educational if you decide to read the descriptions, but if you're not a reader then it's a thrill regardless.

If you have a family and decide you want to return, I would recommend their membership pass. Gives you free parking and pays for itself in two trips. If you are a solo runner, then it probably wouldn't be worth the investment.

I hope you decide to go and learn all that it has to offer!

Great place for field trips and hands on science. The "genius lab" has local groups come by throughout the year to do demonstrations, such as sheep brain dissections during brain awareness week.

This place is amazing. It s well worth the money for everything you get to experience. I loved the learning tables with someone there to teach you something cool and science related. The zip line car was really cool and the kids really enjoyed it. I don t love the touch tanks because I feel like they aren t monitored the way they should be and some of the children aren t touching the animals as gently as they should be. Everything else was amazing and we would definitely go again.

I love this place! I firmly believe that curiosity is one of the greatest traits of the human race and this place is all about expressing curiosity through demonstrations and activities. You don't have to love science to love the McWane center. The only requirement to enter is an open mind...and a ticket I guess...

Very affordable. I suggest that if you're planning on coming often that you purchase a membership. Lots of things for kids to do and learn. Several clean bathrooms on every floor. There are even a few restaurants in the lobby. Please note that parking is not free.

So much fun for kids (and kids at heart) to go here and see all the science exhibits. Can easily spend most of your day here checking everything out. We have a family membership so we visit here often. Definitely worth checking out if you live in Birmingham or if just visiting.

An excellent interactive science museum for all ages. Engaging activities for all skill levels, educational staff and wonderful exhibits. When I visited, kids as young as five were getting to participate in a cow eye dissection! What an awesome experience for young, curious folks! Older kids will also enjoy activities regarding physics, biology, zoology, meteorology, and so much more. It's an incredible museum that is perfect for families in or visiting Birmingham. Be prepared to stay for hours- it's that much fun!

We had a really nice time at the McWane Science Center. We went on a Sunday after noon with the whole family (mom, dad, and two daughters 11 and 16). We all enjoyed the interactive exhibits and had fun exploring and learning together. We spent about 2 hours inside before visit the gift shop and making our exit. Probably not something to do too often but if you re looking for a family friendly activity and have never visited would be worth checking it out!

Very fun and educational. Will definitely return. My toddler and my teenager loved it. Something for the whole family to enjoy. Pros would be lunch options. Their website shows way more options than what is actually available.

This is definitely a kid oriented museum, almost all of the exhibits are hands on/ interactive types of things. There were a lot of exhibits related to weather, and also genetics and the human genome (I think the latter may be a rotating exhibit). There are four floors of different activities, and an IMAX theater. There's an aquarium in the basement. Very educational, and helps make science exciting for kids.

We visited while they had bus loads of kids there on a field trip. It was crazy chaotic and hard to enjoy everything. Our 3 year old was trampled often. We were surprised at how dusty the birds and some of the displays were. We had a good time. It was worth visiting
