Good place to visit with kids. Coming back all the time.
Great hands on daytrip that will be fun for families and individuals!
Excellent experience for the kiddos. It's hit or miss whether you arrive as a bus of kids is unloading. Pretty sure you leave with everybody's germs. They have a lot of hand sanitizer stations around, which is nice and helpful. They could do a better job of policing areas and keeping toys in the proper area. For example, "Where is the play food? Oh, it's floating in the water toys." Some of the toys are old and need to be thrown in the washing machine or replaced. The poor dogs in and chicken in the Vet area look like they've contracted the mange from all the kiddos.
fun,but needs a lot of maintenance on exhibits and cleaning
One of the original cornerstones in the Downtown Birmingham Revitalization process, an excellent Science Center with a little bit of everything for the curious minds of All ages!
Lots of fun activities and exhibits for the kids, a very fun day with the family!
Year membership is great deal! Mcwane is a great afternoon trip when we have errands in bham. Itty bitty city is really cute. Rotating displays on top floor
Really made my children interested in the wonderful world of science.
Overnight trip was a blast, a must do for your group.
So much fun! Tons to do and explore but my kids really loved itty bitty city and the aquarium! We are looking into a membership to go as much as we want.
Amazing we loved it great place for my one and two year old boys.
Just too much fun and knowledge in one place! Wears kids out and adults have a great time too!
This is a fantastic place to visit! Great for kids of all ages!
Great place to bring kids. All kinds of things to see and do.
It was ok not as fun as it used to be ... Alot of facts but not actual fun stuff for the kids to do
Super cool place. Perfect for families. SuperIMAX theatre was amazing. Saw the film about the ocean. Will go back soon. First time visiting. Ran out of time. Tons of space and things to learn about. Never made it to the 2nd and third floors. Very impressed.
Awesome place for not only kids, but adults without kids! They occasionally have "McWane After Dark" says where you have to be 21+ to get in, in case you don't want to be around kids.
I love the McWane Center! I have been going there periodically since I was in early high school (which is about when it opened). It takes me back to my childhood and I love to get to see my kids experience it too!
Always fun for the kids and the exhibits change every so often for more fun!
Science? Awesome! IMAX dome sci-fi movies? Fantastic! Staff? I don t know why they re there; they certainly aren t doing anything! We attended a 7 PM movie showing in the IMAX dome for the first time recently. Our excitement at the prospect quickly dwindled as we tugged on the first large set of doors and found them to be locked. A young lady on the other side of the foyer pointed for us to continue around the side of the building. Okay, weird, but whatever; it s late, of course they ll lock a set of doors and keep people confined to one entrance and exit. We hurried through the rain to the next bank of glass doorways - again, locked. This time, a gentleman sitting at a desk on the other side of the foyer pointed for us to continue going along the building. Confused, we trudged to the very corner of the building, seeing no other entrances, and glanced down a side street at the impassive side of the science center. Definitely not getting in there. We walked back to that second set of doors and tugged on all of them. The man yet again just pointed off to the side. We went back that way again and found a single, unmarked side entrance that at first glance seemed to lead to the very obviously closed food court. This door opened! Finally inside, we walked across the foyer and the guy, still sitting, just chuckled. We were the only patrons in the building at this time. We crossed the hallway, walking in front of a concession stand where two young ladies were sitting and watching us, and couldn t figure out where to go because everything was cordoned off. We headed upstairs, had no luck, went back downstairs and decided to ask the concession ladies. Down the stairs to the right. We looked right; there were some stairs, yep, but they were cordoned off. She checked our tickets and told us to go ahead, so we hesitated before ducking under the barrier and heading downstairs to the theater.
Super excited for the experience! But definitely had a damp wet blanket thrown over it by some incredibly lackluster employees.
Great place to take children and explore new things for yourself.
Incompetent, ride broke down and the attendant said she couldn't leave the ride to go get help. We're stuck upside down hurting from the seat belts and what, you're just going to let us suffer until someone notices?
My children love the itty bitty magic city.I have a 6 year old a 1 year old and even my 7month old had fun it the area for babies. I really love that they have a play area for the little babies. It's really educational and fun for the whole family!
This is a great place to take kids. There is really something for all age groups. Educational and fun way to get kids interested in the world around them.
One of the best places in Alabama for a family fun day of learning, exploration, and play.
Awesome place for activating little scientists, explorers and inventor s minds. Parents have just as much fun too! Nice touch to the Cafe .
Came here for McWane after dark and a private event. Both were great! The staff are attentive and patient. The events were wil organized too. The setup lends itself to easy entertainment too.
Love this place. Itty Bitty Magic City is the cutest thing, and my toddlers favorite stop. Staff is so friendly.
Love this place. My two sons are crazy about NcWane.
Amazing. Tons of interactive things to do, great to bring your kids to. Fun for both adults and children. It has an Imax theatre as well, the kind of the ceiling. Warning though: it gets pretty loud, so don't bring infants or toddlers in without the ear protection at the front desk.
The museum no longer has the My Size area, but the itty bitty town is still there.
So much fun for children and adults. We cannot wait to come back.
Great hands on experience for kids. Lots of interactive exhibits. Everyone was having a good time there and we had to tear our kids away
My grandchildren and husband had a wonderful time highly recommend.
Cayden and Anthony Locust Fork 1st grade field trip.
Genuinely fun and interesting way to spend an afternoon.
Great place to take the kids. Tons of educational toys and exhibits. Itty Bitty Magic city is fun for smaller children. Don't miss the aquatic exhibit downstairs on the basement level. If you're going to go more than twice in a year, it makes sense to get a membership.
Great family atmosphere, some exhibits under construction, but overall still a great day spent there with my daughter.
It is great for small children. Just bought a membership to help us make it through these cold months.
Such a fun place for people of all ages. I ve been going since I was a child and it s still fun today. The imax theatre here is cool too.
Went with grandson and daughter. Had a wonderful time. I think we were wore out more than he was. So much to see and do.
Good for parking when there's no street parking. I didn't actually go inside. Just parked here. $5 all day!
Spectacular for me children and very entertaining facina
Plan on spending the entire day here. A lot of fun interactive stations, multiple floors, huge Imax theater screen for virtually 360 viewing
Awesome time with my students. We enjoyed the additions and changes!
This is only oriented for children, nothing interesting for adults.
A great place for the entire family. We had a ball...
Fun time for the kids. IMAX movie kept 5yo interested the whole time.
We love this place! Our family always has so much fun when we come we always have so much fun! Thank you so much Kimmie for our year membership for the next year!
My daughter went to a week long camp and had a great time. Well organized and good value for money !
The center is great, but we went for a field trip and there were a couple of other schools that day...so, a few hundred kids running around (some unsupervised) wasn't what I'd call fun. And, we didn't get an option for lunch. It was chicken bites, small bag of plain chips, small pack of gummies, and a small bottle of water...with 0 napkins and 2 little packets of ketchup . They do have an open stingray and shark "petting tank" which was really cool though! I would definitely suggest going on a day when they don't have several schools scheduled to be there.
My son and I love it here!!! Reasonable price and a full day of fun.
This was an amazing experience. We had a great day as a family with our 4 year old. There are 4 floors of education and excitement. We plan to be back.
