Always a great time for little kids and big kids, alike!
Took my grandson and had a wonderful time. The exhibits were so kid friendly yet interesting to the adults too. Worth the trip.
Kiddos had a great time. I am always saying that I need to go back without them so I can say, too.
Great family outing. So many activities for kids to engage with and learn from.
I'm loving the new ity bity city. My 2 year old loved it. Going to come there more just for that.
Always a great time for everyone! The shark and stingray tank on the lower level is one of our favorites!
Lover of STEM... Family ranging from 2 toddler age to 92 geriatric age!!!
Members for a third straight year and always a good time with the kids.
Great fun for all ages! We've been going for decades!
This place could have been a lot of fun, all of the things for kids to do, and exhibits were great! However, the people who work there needs a lot of improvement. The girl at the ticket counter rolled her eyes at me when I told her I needed tickets for my family for the day. She rolled her eyes like I was retarded and said with a huge attitude, "For how MANY?? ". I wish I would have left right then, but I went on and spent $50 in tickets and went in. There is a great little food court with a Subway, a Pizza Hut, a burger place, and I think a smoothie place but it wasn't open at the time. The Subway concessions person tried to skip us by yelling, "can I help someone who is READY to order??" (We were literally standing there for 2 seconds).. all of the "demonstration" people seemed like they were trying to hide behind their counters to avoid having to do their jobs...and there was a whole school there that just let the kids run wild destroying everything, taking things from younger kids, being just crazy and out of control. Staff members should have made them behave or kicked them out since their teachers and chaperones did NOTHING. I actually saw them laughing at the kids behavior! The girl down at the shark/stingray touching was VERY NICE and knowledgeable and answered everyone's questions with a smile. Loved her! You all need to make her the training manager or something. I didn't get her name, and I don't know how long she was at work, but we went down there right around 9am this morning (6/21) if you'd like to track her down. Give her a raise or something, I don't know...Use her as an example of how to treat people! Anyway, our overall experience was terrible. I would never go there again. Ever.
This a great place to spend time with your family and learn some science while you are there.
It was less exciting than when I was a child but maybe it is bc kids are so much more involved in technology today
Tons of things to do that even adults can enjoy. I'm in my 30s and was like a kid in a candy store.
It's a great place for learning lots of things to get children involved. Lots of good things. The price is definitely not one of them, ecspecially considering at least 1 of every 3 of the stations either were not working or was missing the pieces to make it work properly. I know with amount people are being charged that you can do better. Goodluck
We love being members here... Great value for the price... Especially the parking...
Absolutely the Best science center I have ever been two. One day was barely sufficient to see it all.
Very fun for the whole family. Everything is educational. It was crowded on the day we went, so there were lines for the best attractions. Still a great experience.
Fun place for a family outing. Keeps the little ones entertained and the exhibit on the third floor changes keeping things interesting.
It was awesome. Not only did our students enjoy themselves we did as well. The layout is very kid and adult friendly.
I brought my 4 year old and 2 year old there. They loved it, due to time constraints, were only spent two hours there, and we didn't quite see or play with everything we wanted to. I think three hours would be a reasonable amount of time to explore (assuming your kids are about as young and curious as mine). Most everything is 'hands-on', and I myself enjoyed the experience.
So much fun for the whole family! Def. Worth the membership
Very disappointed. ..half the.stuff is broke because of people like the ones in the cafe ....8 kids 2 mom's and they was all beating the vending machines and probably broke the touch screen on one then the moms walk off for 5 min and left the kids in the cafe
Fantastic science museum!! My boys, 8 & 10, absolutely loved visiting here. The first floor has so many hands on activities that they hardly wanted to try the other 2 floors. The 2nd & 3rd floors were not nearly as hands on & exciting, but they still found a few things they enjoyed there. I highly recommend this place for all ages.
This place is Awsome! We were driving through Birmingham and decided to give the kids a break. Glad we did because there was so much to do! Calling this place a science center doesn't do it justice.
This is a great place to take kids. There are many lessons to be learned and everything is presented in a fun manner.
McWane Science Center is one of our favorite places to visit as a family in Birmingham. The option for an IMAX movie is great and our youngest loves spending time in Itty Bitty Magic City (which is like stepping into a kids sized town where they can pretend in a farm scene, vets office, mechanic shop, water play, grocery store, and restaurant - there may be more I'm not remembering, but it's fantastic). There are several floors of activities for kids that are all centered around learning science. It's a must do stop for anyone visiting Birmingham and for families who live here, the annual pass is a worthwhile purchase.
So much fun! O had a great experience! Great for family's and friends.
What a wonderful learning environment! We had a lot of fun. My son loves science especially dinosaurs and they had a while floor about dinosaurs. They were many interactive things to do. Make sure you plan to spend most of your day here if you love science like my son does. He refused to be rushed through the center. The staff was amazing too. They went above and beyond to help my 95 year old grandmother as well as give us information before we arrived and even got us in touch with their amazing scientist which can open doors for my son in the future when he's a little older. We will be returning.
They offer so many different things that is never boring
Gorgeous place full of exciting things for kids of all ages to do. The teenage volunteers were wonderful and did science experiments with my kid while we were there. I had as much fun as my six year old did. It definitely took me back to playing at Discovery when I was a child.
Fun for everyone big or small. Take the entire family and haul them all over the building. Everyone is certain to find something they enjoy.
If you don't have fun while here, you're determined to have a bad time.
My grandkids enjoyed all the hands on things people were friendly nice and clean will return.
This place is Awesome. Our youth group enjoyed everything Saturday (23rd). Have 4 level to enjoy. Very great museum
Free Computer coding camp tonight. Dinner included!
Great experience for the kids. A little on the expensive side if you have a large family.
Get the membership if you have young kids. Mine love the Itty Bitty Magic City
The Smart Cafe have Great people they are always nice to me they always have a smile on there faces and they always Know what I want...
One of the best science centers we've visited as a family. Both our 6yo and 12yo found plenty to keep them entertained for our nearly 4 hour visit (and we even missed the touch tank on the bottom floor). Everything from dinosaurs to mapping the human genome is covered with fun and engaging exhibits. The 4-star rating comes from the customer service (or lack there of). Our visit started in the food court where our first interaction with an employee was her yelling across the room for my wife to throw away the pizza box she "touched" while pointing out to our daughter. Our visit ended by having to repay for parking because the person we paid while purchasing our tickets forgot to give us a token. Those less then stellar experiences, however, won't keep us from coming back. We'll just eat across the street and make sure to get our exit token.
So far, we've taken our kids twice and they've loved it every time. It gets a bit hectic at times but that's bound to happen when there are children everywhere. The minor cost makes up for any small issues. I'd definitely bring my kids again.
Great place! Convenient Parking! Some exhibits could use some improvements. Overall, great place to take your family for an educational experience.
Always a great mind-opening experience. Be sure to check out the cool model railroad displays running for a limited time
Great place to take the kids. Had several different areas to keep the kids entertained the whole day. Wide age range, so will be fun for toddlers to pre teens.
Awesome place to spend the day with the family. We drove 4 hrs and it was worth it. With the imax dome and all the exzibtz it's enough to keep even the most picky kid busy and entertained. The small food court is lacking, over priced and I would not recommend anything in there other than the subway.
Top notch place to take the children. This is a hands on science museum. lots of fun both for the children and the adults. There is also an IMAX theater here. Highly recommended.
Great for kids of all ages. We had everything spanning from an infant to a 10 year old and they all had fun.
Everyone throughly enjoyed here. From the adults and the 16yo to the 2yo. So much so we bought annual passes. Lots to do and touch
If you go might as well spend the extra money and make it a membership. It will definitely pay for itself. Wonderful place to take the kiddos. Have a wonderful food court. Very clean place as well as their bathrooms.
Our boys always have fun. This is a fantastic place to have a birthday party!
Super fun for me and my son not so much for 8.5 month pregnant wife but we had a blast definatly become members soon
This is consistently a great place for kids of different ages. I prefer going on off days at as soon as they open because it can be uncomfortably crowded on the weekends.
A wonnderful place for adults and kids alike. You get to be a kid here. We have been a few times and plan to get a membership. They have Imax, and four levels to spend the whole day exploring. I was most excited about the itty bitty tots section.
Such a great place for family fun. We come here about once a month. Itty bitty magic city is SO much fun for little ones kindergarten and below. You can learn all kinds of things here while playing. It s great when kids are entertained and moms can chill. There s also an IMAX and yummy popcorn to be had. Love it so much we have had an annual membership for a few years now. There s also a cafeteria on the main level. Go...you won t regret it!
Really enjoyed it. Was a lot of fun. Great grandkids loved it.
We usually love mcwane. COVID-19 has things all out of whack!
My only complaint was that they played the wrong movie in the IMAX and kept starting and stopping the film.
Great for kids activities. However, I think adult admission is overpriced.
Great place for kids and family of all ages. Fun and educational. The Ityy Bitty Magic City exhibit is great for preschoolers and tots. Be prepared for a battle when trying to get the kids to leave.
We really enjoy this place. I took my twin 10 year old grandsons and my adult autistic son. They all had a blast. The only thing I would change is I wish they had more options in the cafe.
This is an amazing place. My husband and I went and we were there for 3 hours going through all that they have to offer and can't wait to go back and do it all over again. Great for all ages and have so much to offer. Highly recommended!
