McLaren Greater Lansing Review

I went to the McLaren ER on January 15, 2017 after contacting my doctor. the ER nurse (April) was wonderful! However the doctor David Komasara was horrible! He Never Examined me, just ordered test, then never really talked to me just had the nurse tell me that I have kidney stones...I have had kidney stones before, and knew that was NOT the correct diagnosis. The ER Doctor Never came back to talk to me.. I went to my doctor and he agreed that I did not have kidney stones, but possible infection in my digestive system.
Hope McLaren gets better ER doctors. Very disappointed :(

I been in a few hospitals but I find this one to be the best

The doctors are fabulous but the office staff is sorely lacking.

Their billing is super screwy. They filed the same bill to my insurance 3 different times. Then, when they tried to say what my insurance paid, they made up a number that never even showed up on any of the claims. That's why insurance covers your butt. Switching to Sparrow.

I am still waiting for a refund of the amount I was overcharged. Difficult to find a telephone number for billing, and they ignore email.

Worst care ever for my 94 year old Mother in law! She was considered a falling star She was left on portable commode for over 30 minutes as she continued to call for help then she was never cleaned her up, the worst ever was when we got her ready to check out 3 days later we discover she was still in the depends pull up that she was admitted in! Asked to have Doctor speak to us as she did not understand clearly and NEVER spoke to any doctor. We were there everyday by 8 -9 am. Will never return there! Filled out their after care survey and surprise, surprise they have yet to contact us of the issues we had there. No way to treat a human being.

I always get excellent care at all McLaren both radiology and hospital.

Lab work and x rays went fairly quickly the ER could use some improvement last visit made me and my step daughter wait over three hours then took us into triage and fix the issue in less then five minutes this could have been done when we first arrived or at least taken less time

... When I went to the ER, they quickly started to work on me, but I soon realized that they put unnecessary stitches on my wound. I didn t find out until I visited my Doctor, & was informed that the stitched placed were completely useless. I was charged extra for the unnecessary medicine that I was prescribed as well.

Went in for severe headache, abdominal pain, heart palpitations, fever and kidney pain. The Dr wouldn't give me even a Tylenol. He never even came into my room until he discharged me with a comment that my heart palpitations which are every 5-10 seconds for the last 18 hours, and make me feel sick to my stomach with each one, and said I had a viral infection and sent me home. He could've at least checked my abdomen and kidneys!!

I love Mclaren, I love the attitude here. Unlike Sparrow, the nurses, and doctors treated me with respect and like a human being McLaren.

I have been on the phone with the billing customer service for an hour trying to figure out where my $2000 deductible went. They charged me an estimated cost in June for my surgery. Only a portion of the amount was needed after insurance. They are now claiming that my account is still open and can't refund me the remaining amount, even though I need it to pay my surgeons office. Why are you charging me an estimated cost that you can't refund me in a timely manner?

ER is awesome as far as how quick they take care of you but once you are on the floor your admitted to it is horrible I haven't ate since yesterday mind you I been here since 7am around 2pm asked can I eat they said they will check nothing 3pm nothing asked at 4pm nothing 6pm nothing so I ordered food from outside then 8pm finally get call for room service for breakfast for tomorrow nurses do not check on you nor communicate I can't wait till I'm released to get my survey big -0

The staff at the multi-specialty clinic are amazing.They always greet you with a welcoming smile. They answer questions and explain things to you in a way that makes you feel completely comfortable.

I received excellent nursing care, not only from the Nurses but also the Nursing Assistants and even the Unit Secretary! And the Doctors were very helpful and informative. They all were committed to giving me the best care possible, keeping my husband and I informed with their plan of treatment for my best outcome!

I went into the ER for chest pain and I had nurse dotee work fast listen to me and made sure I was taken care of and the ER doctors are great and caring

I went in for a hand laceration last night, absolutely amazing staff who kept my spirits up. great time, even with several people ahead of me in the ER.

They need to be shut down. They don t help you, they barely diagnose you and half the time are wrong in their diagnosis. Worst hospital in the greater Lansing area. 10/10 would not recommend.

My grandmother had hip replacement here & the physical therapist working with her was AWFUL!! When I called to speak to my grandma she was in the background yelling at my grandma about how she needs to get back to her exercises. When I asked to come visit at 4:30pm the physical therapist snapped & said it was too late for visitors. This place is horrendous! I wouldn't be seen for a paper cut here.

Very slow! No straight answers given without us getting upset first. NA Laura was rude and had no patience. Bad bed side manner. 0 stars for Laura!!!

The loving care my father received in the ICU unit from the nursing staff and physicians was absolutely outstanding. They were so attentive and made sure we understood his condition and
all the options for his improvement or comfort. We can't say enough in praise. We also
enjoyed the music therapy from local musicians; it was a comfort to everyone who could hear them!

Terriable hospital didn't use to be ! I went into the hospital i was coughing alot and couldn't breath and finally lost my breath and fell to the floor and everyone that worked there just stared at me they did help me right away i was begging them to help it was a very tramatized time never ever lost my breath were i could breath so they left me im the back telling me breath breath all very mean to me keep telling them i had majior anxiety they would do nothing until my family member came saved my bacon i hate the ER there wow

Staff never seems to be on the same page. Nurses can be rude when questioned about your condition.

I don't have to have students staring at me in my room correct. ??

I love how they take very good care of their patients! And the doctor's are so attentive to our needs, they don't stop until they figure out what's wrong with you!

Had surgery here. Aftercare was zero! Took over 48 hours and my mother calling to get pain relief! Don't get surgery from Mark Jones. He's a heartless man! I wanted to sue it was so bad!

Super impressed by the doctors and nurses. They explained everything completely and very personable.

I held a position here for approx 10 months. I experienced a very hostile work environment. There are very good things about this hospital but unfortunately too many managers turn there heads when it comes to staff being hostile/bullies towards other employees and even patients. Most bullies have been there for decades leading by example and they feel and behave as if they are untouchable, and from what I ve witnessed they are. Especially on nights. I d be very cautious taking a position here, having a union doesn t change big business and this business has blatently shown that they do not care about their (newer) employees, their safety or putting an end to this growing concern when 2/3 of workplace violence happens in hospitals. It s been brought to their attention multiple times and nothing noticeable has been implemented for improving the work environment or safety. I was verbally attacked in the ICU by a fellow employee over his perception of our assignment and then followed to a break room where I was chased around tables as I fearfully begged him to stop, the incident was recorded by one of 3 whitnesses. The hospital took over a month to do an investigation ( The same 6 Foot tall male employee has a few incidents that have been reported to HR for his hostility towards fellow staff) they intimidated the person who recorded the incident and made them delete it. I was left to deal with his retaliation and increased animosity at night with no management and no intervention of any kind. Nothing was discussed with me or implemented to ensure that this wouldn t happen again as he just had a separate investigation in July for the same uncontrollable behavior. I ve heard nurses scream deragatory statements towards patients and because of fear from retaliation they are allowed to continue this behavior. I heard over and over when I started that management does nothing, so far it appears to be true. I couldn t handle the environment and left. Unfortunately a few bad apples do spoil the bunch when they are left to rot. I tried to seek help and so far this doesn t seem to be important enough for anyone to do anything. I ve reported this incident to the proper people at McLaren, The Lansing Police Deaprtment, EEOC and tried to obtain a PPO against the individual and was denied.

I was misinformed about a medication they injected into my arm and then instead of talking to me calmly when I was concerned they got defensive and very rude. I have never been so mistreated at a hospital not even at Sparrow. I always chose McLaren because I got better care there but NEVER again will I trust this hospital because that could have put my life at risk! Dr. Warren and the NP Melissa are poor excuses of medical staff and are part of the problem with our medical care

An awesome hospital with the friendliest staff and professionals I have had the pleasure of working with. Don't know what all the talk is with Sparrow, McLaren is way better!

Had open-heart surgery (aortic valve replacement and double bypass) in July, 2018 and McLaren, along with my surgeon (Dr. Ghandi) made it as good an experience as it could ever be. The nurses were incredible--professional, yet personable and very willing to help or assistant, as were nearly all other personnel. Prior to my OHS, I thought I would have to travel to the Cleveland Clinic, or UofM but I had high-quality, highly-skilled, and compassionate care in Lansing. Nearly one year later, I am doing quite well, to boot.

All staff involved in my care for surgery were truly excellent. My experience was top notch, couldn t be better.

I called up to the hospital to see if one of my family members were ok because he was admitted into surgery the lady that answered the phone had nothing but a attitude she got loud and inappropriate with me and hung up in my face I didn't even say anything off to provoke her

Mclaren is awesome...I am new to Lansing so I don't yet have a doctor. I have been in pain for two weeks. I first went to the more popular hospital here and was not thoroughly examined and once given discharge papers i was having a hard time standing up was told very snappy, u can go, ur discharged....I was done with Lansing and was gonna opt to drive back to U of M which I'm more familiar with. I was told abt McLaren. They were absolutely excellent. Their concern, their demeanor and attitude, their care...they provided suggestions and asked enough questions to find out I needed a doctor being new to the area and provided me information. Top notch quality care! They will be my Lansing facility if needed from this point on. Thank you!

My wife delivered two of our children at McLaren. Their birthing center is phenomenal! The last delivery was anything but routine, and they were spot on. I cannot say enough good things about the birthing center at McLaren!

Dr. Weber in the ER took pride in her sarcasm and rudeness and was also condencending and mean. My poor 6 year old son left screaming in pain after she chose a method that left his skin feeling like it was burning with the problem not resolved, wrote a script for the med that made his skin burn which obviously isn't going to get filled and discharged us with the problem not resolved and my son throwing up when he got home. This place is a waste of insurance money to say the least at least the doctor is. It's obvious she hates her job and lets her patients bear the brunt of her lightning rod. Absolutely the worst place!! You will leave worse off then when you showed up!

Extremely rude check-in staff. Absolutely shocking. Clearly someone needs a new job considering she has no social skills whatsoever.

They did an outstanding job during my grandma's passing in 2011, my grandpa's passing in 2015, my father hospitalized in 2019

Dr katranji is terrible. I have had multiple hand surgeries with him and always come away with a bad experience. He is always several hours late and he's just not a very professional person. McLaren itself is not a great place to go either. There is zero communication between Dr and patient. If there was any other option for me I would definitely go some where else.

After traveling across country to see my
loved one in the ICU Heather told the security guard that visiting hours were over( she could not tell time it was 7:15) and they only allowed one visitor a day. No exchanges between visitors. Hopefully Heather never has a loved one dying and gets a "better luck next time. " Maybe more focus on the covid positive patient ya'll let go through pre op the operating room and Post op exposing all those healthcare workers, vs just looking at the bottom line. Ya'll are not focused on patient and families which is what helps a family heal.

Dr. Perry, Nurse Bea, Nurse Andrea in the ER we're so caring, professional, efficient, knowledgeable, and pro-active with my husband, Richard, today. He came into the ER on the advise of his Primary because his symptoms were many and varied...each making the others worse. Each of these care givers were patient, kind and wholely informative. Dr. Perry created a clear path for us to follow with doctors to follow up with and tests to be scheduled beyond what was done today. We felt well informed and cared for. We have never felt this sort of confidence when being sent to Sparrow. Thank You

Small thing, but bring your lunch! Worst cafeteria I ve ever been in. Little choice, little food,not in warmers just set on bowls on counter to serve yourself, broccoli in vast amount of cold congealed butter, oh and carmelized corn as in burnt, out of side dishes. Serve yourself and this was at 5:30, prime supper hour!

I disliked I came in to get water for my daugther and me and they couldn't tell where to find water due to my daugther and i walking all day outside in humid conditions! That's very sad an they talk about care where....so even the homeless couldn't ask for water and thats truly why I make reviews to ensure the population won't be mistreated or mislead in any way.

I like the hospital but it's stupid they don't take our insurance you would think that a hospital would take any insurance to help as many people as possible

Helped with my nerve pain and referred me to a doctor that will see me before a month. Sparrow left me on my own and was like IDK, try iburofen and buy braces. Ibuprofen does not help with nerve pain.. and McLatwn gave me some braces too.

My husband received outstanding care on 4 North, all staff but special thanks to Danielle who was so kind, attentive and professional in her care of my husband. She and the rest of the staff there deserve recognition and commendatio. Thanks so much!!

Some of the worst patient neglect I have seen in a long time. I will not be taking any of my loved ones there from now on! Plus the bathrooms were terrible.

I don't care if I was in McLaren parking lot and had a emergency situation I would go elsewhere. This place desires negative stars.. this place is by far the WORSE hospital. I will never be back and because of this hospital I no longer even want to live in Lansing. If you want to live go elsewhere.

My deaf friend went here and was not provided with an interpreter as is required by law. They didn't adequately inform him or his family of proper post-surgery care, putting him at great risk for infection and medical complications.

Wasn't too happy with the doctors at Mclaren. My mother had been in and out over the course of a few years and released the next day citing "stress" problems. After she started having problems we took her to Sparrow instead and found out that she had a type of heart arrhythmia and was in need of a pacemaker after her heart rate consistently plummeted. So after years of being misdiagnosed her problems are finally abating. Will continue to go to Sparrow instead.

The worst! They need to learn to call people if the doctor will be over an hour late.

My experience with the McLaren Lab was horrible!! I was sent there by a new PCP who wanted some labs done. The girl couldn't find a vein and ended up leaving two GIANT bruises on my arms. A few days later I got a call from my Dr that they weren't able to run the labs with the blood they'd drawn because they did something wrong and the blood had clotted. I went back and got blood drawn again. A few weeks later my Dr decided that she wanted a few more labs done. I went back to McLaren, then was called again a few days later, saying that they had forgotten to run some of the labs, so I had to go back AGAIN. Soon after I received a bill in the mail for over $1000, even though I have insurance, and gave them my insurance card each time! Finally, I just got another call from my Dr saying that they had STILL forgotten to run some of the labs, and that she advised that I go anywhere else but McLaren to get them done. I WILL NOT be going back there again.

They took excellent care of my wife when I almost lost her after an emergency csection with severe hemorrhaging. The surgical team, icu nurses, ob nurses and numerous doctors all treated her with respect and caring that at times went above their "job duties " I would trust my life and those of the rest of my family with their care over that of Sparrow any day.

I was not happy with my experience of whatsoever my wife and daughter had a roller skating accident and my wife tore her hamstring It felt to me that they can it get us out of there fast enough not only was there a potential tear in her hamstring but they never did an MRI on in my opinion all of McLaren is a doc in the Box and are extremely badd If you ever get an ambulance ask them the take you to sparrow

The staff was amazing and very professional. They made sure I had everything I needed for home care. They were all very polite.

The emergency room and the floor 5 staff always take care of my nauseated girlfriend. But yes, bring lunch or lunch money.

I dont always get admitted, but when I do I sure as hell dont go here

I delivered my daughter at Mclaren. They were great! My daughter was a preemie, so she had to stay at the hospital for a week. I was released after 2 days. They allowed me to stay in the room for the rest of my daughters stay. Nurses were very nice, and helpful

Best care I have ever had at an ER let alone any hospital! I would recommend this hospital to anyone! Great Drs whom are very respectful, awesome nurses who seem to love what they do (not to mention most of the nurses are some very good looking men )! I was very please over all with everything!

Good staff. NOT good at drawing blood. Have had THREE veins burst while here.

Our daughter was born at McLaren Greater Lansing in Dec. The care we received from the doctors and nursers was excellent. They were very attentive and always willing to explain and answer questions. They were sensitive to our wishes, friendly, and made the experience very worry free.

I cannot even rightfully sit here and give them 1 star. They deserve NONE. WORST HOSPITAL IN LANSING!!!!! Go elsewhere.

Rude, rude, rude obviously just here for the paycheck

The care was outstanding and staff is the friendliest nursing staff I ever met. My mom was treated for sudden low blood pressure and they did not stop until they figured out what was causing it. They kept us informed every step of the way. I would recommend this hospital to anyone.
