When you have a patient in a Positive Flow Room, because the patient has a wbc count less then 2.0, (Cancer Patient), wouldn't you expect that the RN's would follow the Infection Protocol set for that patient? It is deplorable that you have RN's that IGNORE the protocol: they didn't wash in/out, they didn't wear gloves, not even to administer medicine Intravenously. Why? PLEASE re-train your nurses to exercise due diligence & follow Dr's orders. It really is not that difficult to do. If a lay-person can follow Infection Control procedures, why can't a nurse? Seriously. It's their job to Care, NOT Scare. Dr. Lo is great....but some of those nurses are NOT.

Every time I come here I get the help I need. Yes I do run around a with drs with their questions. I have come in contact with nurses who aren t so pleasant but I come in contact with that at any hospital I ve been too.
I delivered my daughter here naturally in 2016 & it was a great experience. Terry the nurse who took care of us at the time was over the top amazing. I ve been forgotten about & left in waiting rooms at Hurley & Genesys. Yes each hospital specializes in certain things but if you want help McLaren is a great place to go & the only place I go to around here.

This is where you want to go when you have a heart attack. Great nurses & docs, thorough evaluations, GREAT food service staff--the supervisor came up personally to ensure that vegetarian meal selection was satisfactory.

I was born here, i dont have much experience with them. I know they deal with allot from the general public and frustrated family members or friends of patients who are being seen there. Overall the care they give to the patient is the most important thing when giving a review. The patient care is great. Some nurses are a bit rude but given the area and what these nurses do everyday is making a difference in peoples health and need more credit. My mother was in 7 years ago and spent a period of time here, i was present for. It was a very hard situation for me and while some nurses find visitors a nuisance and sometimes shove off the family members [probably because they are so busy] they do their job and they do it well. Not always with a smile but they care about the patient. While some were'nt flattering others went above and beyond to ensure she was comfortable during her stay. [Also they have a haunted room due to sleep deprivation i do not remember which room or floor but it was a double bed and we kept seeing shadows behind the curtain...there was nobody else in the room.]

Very expensive, do cost comparison before doing anything. This place is all about making money to fund expansion. They even changed my doctor to an outpatient clinic so they could charge more, services didn't change there.

I wouln't go to Hurley if it was on fire and they needed my urine to help put it out!! McLaren is and has been my whole familys choice for a very long time. They've saved my life a few times! Now that shows QUALITY CARE, I cant say enough about McLaren , accept THANK YOU, old friend!

This place has no Patient Care what so ever, I have a family member in the hospital and her call light was on for over 10mins then I had to go find someone to help. McLaren in general is a sad place would never reccomend. I wish a better hospital like Covenant Healthcare would buy them out all of them and I hope the CEO reads this comment. Your hospital is horrible for patient care.

My dad Darryl is in the ICU on life support. He went in for Aorta surgery and now is on life support and they took his colon out as well. Found out they cut the blood of too long and it killed dads colon. Also dad has been there for 30 days and they never put in a feeding tube. Now all his organs are failing ... My sister is going to take him off support tomorrow but I just want every doctor and nurse know we are asking for an autopsy to see if this was your fault. You left my dad with dead tissue inside and closed him up. Now I'm sure he is getting septic. I know you guys are responsible for all this stuff going on with my dad. When the autopsy comes back that you guys did something wrong and covered it up. There will be hell to pay!!!!!!

We visited the ER at around 6pm. We did not leave until 12am - while waiting in the room, no one bothered to update the information board with status or the assigned team members - a urine sample was provided, and it sat untouched until we left.Weight was not checked, medication was administered anyway. Triage staff gossiped loudly about patients, wheeled in supplies and was in the room every 5 minutes to get items - urine sample sat in plain view, info board never updated despite their constant presence. Walked in with symptoms of a heart attack, but the second an autoimmune disease was mentioned, they visibly stopped caring . Took my three yr old daughter into the bathrooms and they were covered in pee. It was kind of like getting checked up at a gas station. Urine test bathroom was covered in toilet paper. When asked to provide a urine sample, we sat for 45 minutes because no one bothered to tell us where to go - despite having shortness of breath and chest pains, was directed to the furthest bathroom away. Urine sample containers were in a bucket with wet naps shoved behind it. Sign said bring urine sample back to your room . Doctor was dismissive of concerns. Said they were gonna give patient iv fluids, put a port and needle in the patients arm, and then didn t give I V fluids.

Here's an update with more information - we went in for heart attack symptoms, but the doctor ignored the problem and decided to do a CT scan on the patient's lungs - now, the patient had body jewelry that would hinder the scan, but they refused to let her remove them and scanned anyway.
The jewelry ruins the scan results, but they did it anyway, got a bad scan, and have a diagnosis concerning the lining of the patient's lungs. A diagnosis that would require blood testing, which wasn't done.

So we followed up with our primary, who was appalled at the treatment given at Mclaren - we are continuing focus on HEART SYMPTOMS, not lung issues.

We were there for about 6 hours and had less than 20 minutes of interaction.

They sent a bill for $5k, without using our insurance

Oh, and this hospital has been penalized for hospital acquired conditions every year for the past 5 years. Which, I believe, because the triage staff was talking very loudly about numerous patients affected by sepsis.

McLaren are liars, they say the hiring but employers have a new way of discriminating against people by saying they found someone who closes match what thye looking for but the person has the same identical degree has the other person they choose, its not right. Then they let alot of people go so they can build they big administrator office. Don't Go Here for Treatment.

We have been many times for many reasons over 2 decades. We have always found the staff exceptional. From the parking attendants, to security, to nurses and doctors. I cannot think of a time when they were not helpful.
This has been our repeated experience. And tomorrow when we go, we will expect the same.

Relative kept getting bounced around departments and teams without actually being seen. At some point they were with internal medicine docs, then transferred To a different floor, then transferred back. Can t give any physician names because the whole time they were seen once. Nurses were rude and didn t help because they didn t have any orders from any docs.

recently saw Dr. Sud and had horrible experience. Had a lot of questions about condition and she got defensive like I was questioning her judgement. Really I just wanted information on condition and treatment. You ll get a more informative and calming experience from talking to a wall.

Switch to any physician/hospital not affiliated with McLaren and you ll see good results.

My wife had two babies there many years ago and everything was great 5 stars, so I asked to be taken there when they thought I had heart problems even though another hospital was closer. In emergency they told me they were doing X-rays, me wife told them I had X-rays with me from the other McLaren mini hospital a couple hours earlier. The male nurse said he didn't care those were his orders. While there they gave dietetics and I really had to go. I pushed the call button many times while I could hear several employees standing in one location talking. When I told them I had to go he said hold on until I got to my room he would "go fast". When I got to my room it was about 10pm I asked for something to eat as I hadn't eaten now for about 12 hours. Nothing big crackers or peanuts. The nurse said they didn't have anything but she had some crackers she might get. A couple hours later she came to check on me and had forgotten about the crackers. To be fair this happened a few years ago, maybe it's changed, but I am looking for a closer doctor and they seem to be attached to hospitals and I don't want to travel further for mediocre service.

If you can go elsewhere do so. The nurse's are very rude. The communication with patient and physician's is horrible. The staff has no respect for patients. They sit in there little nurse station and are very loud, gossiping about patients, talking about their person lives, carrying on laughing talking loud with no respect for patients who may need rest. You come to a hospital to get the medical care you need absolutely no communication . I would not take my worst enemy to this hospital.

I have mixed feelings about the place. The mental health unit nurses are amazing and very kind. Now that the very nasty social worker is out of the ER it's much easier to get help! The food is AWFUL though. Truthfully the worst hospital food ever. It used to be good but you outsourced. I find myself wishing at times to go to a different hospital just because of that. I've had some not great medical experiences though. Very, very dangerous medical errors.

I have not been there yet but my dad is on a ventilator and therefore I haven't been able to speak w him.So far when talking to his nurses,EXCEPT FOR A WONDERFUL MAN(NURSE) CHAD,they have all been very snobby and pretty much rude when I am trying to get information. I understand that they are busy or what not.But they need to please remember until I can get there, they are my ONLY source.Put yourself in my shoes.I KNOW FOR A FACT YOU WLD NOT LIKE TO BE TALKED TO W NOTHING BUT ADDITUDE!I APPRECIATE WHAT YOU DO BUT A LITTLE BIT OF SENSITIVITY TRAINING WOULDN'T HURT.I ONLY HAVE 1 DAD!I just pray to God hen I get there tomorrow thats is clean, along w him.

A few nurses were exceptional. But as a parent waiting in the ER for my son to be seen, was terrible. The noise from the staff was loud & the talk was inappropriate for a work atmosphere, especially for a hospital. 5 hours & counting, not happy.

Brought in my adult brother who can be a real handful, to put it nicely, when he is sick. I was touched by the entire staff s patience and respect for him from the security and triage in the front, to his discharge. Nurses Aaron and Scott were kind and very competent. We were lucky to have less than a 5-minute wait to get into a room. I was dreading the late-night visit, but was relieved to have such a great team start treatment quickly and help him feel better.

A antibiotic A blood thinner A massive amount of cholesterol drug his blood pressure med and because of all this junk he is sicker than he has ever been so he can't eat ...seems to be common practice here, do they really think this will make him better...I don't think so

My family was called to the hospital by my dad s doctor because his health had declined drastically and the woman sitting at the front desk was chatting with another employee and wanted my mom and I to sit and wait while she chatted with this man. We told her it was an emergency we just got a call from the doctor to get up here, all the while she s telling us to stand back the 6 feet. How awful for people to have the worst experience of their life and have to deal with ignorant people.

Went in for my wife who was vomiting, unable to keep food and liquids down, upper abdominal pain, back pain, nausea, and some dizziness. Waited for 5 hours in waiting room while only receiving EKG when first checked in. We where very patient since we noticed they were busy. After she vomited several times during these 5 hours while waiting I asked when we were next and nurse said there is more important people with bigger problems who came in after who need to be seen. We left after that comment because we obviously didn't appreciate the horrible customer service health care professionals should be held to standard. Went to a different local hospital who quickly determined emergency gulbladder surgery needed because one it was packed with gulstones and two she had one trapped in tubes which was causing infection and increasing liver enzymes in labs. I get the ER sees some serious things and some minor stuff that shouldn't be coming to ER for but until you know don't treat your possible patients like they are nusisence until you can determine what's really wrong with them.

My biggest issue in writing this review was my exp...

My biggest issue in writing this review was my experience with Dr. Basata. Most everyone else was nice and helpful, nurse Karen was an actual angel and the man who did my anesthesia was amazing. I was scheduled to have a surgery with Dr. Basata due to the fact that I couldn't urinate with a current medication I was taking. Prior to the surgery, staff assured us that either the person who brought me or I would be able to talk to the Dr. and ask him questions after the surgery, this never happened. Dr. Basata said two things to the person who brought me and never gave them the opportunity to ask any questions. The person who brought me was told I have mild cystitis by the dr, when we got home to look it up we found multiple things that could be classified as cystitis, bacterial and interstitial. It took a month of trying to contact him to find out which one I had. He wrote me prescriptions after the surgery for two of the same medicine that would have just given me bad side effects and wouldn't do anything to help me, my pharmacist cought this and tried to contact the and couldn't get in contact with him for hours. One of the two things he prescribed to me was a medicine I had side effects from in the past and he had this information in my records. 6 weeks from the surgery I had a follow up phone appointment and immediately he questioned me about the side effects I had from that medication despite me not taking it for around a year, it legitimately felt like he didn't know what my appointment was for and got confused about past records. I tried asking him to help me understand what my diagnosis was and he yelled at me saying that that's what he spent the last 5 minutes doing. I still feel like I have no idea what my diagnosis means and am turning to another urologist to try to help me despite this Dr. Being the one who performed my surgery. On that same call the dr told me to go back to taking the medication that made it so I wasn't able to pee and I tried to ask him to explain why that was the treatment he wanted me to do when it gave me those issues and he wasn't able to explain that to me. He even noted that the way I was taking that medication (I only took it when I was In a lot of pain) wouldn't work and that it needs to build up in my system, when he prescribed me this medication he told me I could just take it as needed and those are literally the instructions on the prescription bottle that he wrote me. I also want to note that after my surgery the nurses got me ready to leave, I asked them if the dr found anything and they just told me the Dr talked to the person who brought me and answered the questions he had. I assumed he didn't find anything because they didn't seem to care about me knowing my diagnosis or being able to ask questions, they just wheeled me out to my driver.

Don't go here if you have been i a hospital in the last year even if you are baldly hurt they will just fast track you. Got in a atv accident broken 2 ribs gave me extra strength Tylenol. I know there is a epidemic going on but in hospital there is no reason for it. In a city like flint drugs being sold by pharmacy across the street and all over the city can't get something for pain but they still charge you so much to go there wait hours at time don't even get MD you get a PA.

Dr Sutherland is a joke. Sat in a room for 2 hours without being checked on. Wasnt checked on until i asked to speak to the doctor. Doctor comes in and i Was told I was getting a prescription for dissolvable tablets. The nurse came in and i was given a prescription for suppository when I asked to speak to the doctor I was told no thats what she wrote the script for thats what you get. When I flip out and make a scene they finally want to give me their attention. But still refuse to let me speak to the doctor... I then called and asked to speak to the doctor regarding my prescription I was told no were calling the police and hung up on me numerous times even told me why dont you just call hurleg we dont deal with your kind. until they finally just handed the sheriff the phone. He was the only one who could even give me 30 seconds of his day for me to ask a question. This place is full of lying, worthless woman who don't Care about their patients at all. Next time I think I'd rather drown in my vomit then to come into this place. Nurses and doctors just sit around their desk and chit chat about their party Friday night. asking for a tissue is too Much to ask from these people. Your right though McLaren I'll be taking myself to Hurley from now on. At least there they will answer your questions and check in on you from time to time.

Mom has been here since 5am, broke her hip and shoulder. It is now almost 3pm, still no surgery. Was told she has to wait for all scheduled surgeries to get done first, then the "real" emergencies, then she would get her surgery. Can't eat or drink because of the surgery she is supposed to have some time today, she is in pain, but apparently can't get any relief for that either.

Excellent patient care for my husband. I would like to tell you about the wonderful nurse he had on the 10th floor. Her name was Marcia. She was very nice and took very good care of my husband. Not only was she very nice but everyone we came across seemed genuinely glad to be doing what they do. Thank you Marcia for taking such great care of my husband. He is my Heart and Soul.
Sincerly Michele Lindsey

Mom(82 years old) was taken in by ambulance at 1pm, stayed there in a chair waiting until 3pm taken back to lie down and given an iv for fluids since she has had dyrea for two days, I put her in a diaper, for the first time, Wednesday night before bed, she got up at noon the diaper had feces in it and she told me not to change her and to just call the ambulance since she was hurting so bad. When I could finally drag myself to the hospital after 48 hours with no sleep taking care of her, I showed up at the hospital around 7:30 that evening and she was still wearing the same dirty diaper full of feces when she lft at noon, besides sleeping in it all night.
Brian, moms night RN, who had just started his shift was by the previous shift nurse that her diaper was changed and she was clean, not true. When I told Brian that wasn't the case he sprung into action and took fantastic care of her. So Brian gets a five star in my book, the hospital a 3 and the RN nurse before Brian a 0.

The people who work in this hospital are so rude and inattentive that I wouldn t bring my pets here and they don t even speak English. You might try hiring somebody that cares. I tried to sign my wife in (she was in tremendous agony) and get a time frame of when she would be treated, but i was totally ignored. We live 5 minutes Away but we will drive to a hospital that is farther away so that we can actually GET treatment. We did in fact leave to find a better hospital because it was over a 4 hour wait. Funny the advertisement on pandora says you ll be treated within 30 minutes or less GUARANTEED. Someone might want to make sure this is feasible. Talk to the hand.

If I could only give a zero stars!! Omfg!
Having horrible sharp ovarian pain and bleeding was there at 11pm.... Was not seen at all! Just left at 440am! What a joke!
The waiting room smelled terrible and filthy! I couldnt breathe. Had to go outside a couple times for air! There was a bucket with vomit in a chair! Also 0 outlets to plug a dying phone into! The bathrooms were foul! Noone cleaned them at all! "Housekeeping" was called... Walked in and walked right out so Im going to say its safe to assume she didnt clean it. I was forced to hold my piss the whole time! I should send them my doc bill for the possible uti i have now! Do not go there! Avoid it! You will go in with pain for something and prolly leave with a disease! Ugh i feel disgusted! I need to shower in boiling water and burn my clothes now...yuck! Highlyyyyy unsatisfied! I wish i wouldve read the reviews here first!

Went to ER with acute appendicitis, was supposed to be a direct admit. No ER beds, had to wait. Waited in fear and pain (had already been diagnosed by a CT scan) fearing my appendix would rupture. Finally I checked out of there after nearly 4 hours. Went to Genesys, was in surgery within the hour. McLaren sent me a hefty bill when I was never even seen, other than by a nurse who took me in a room and took my blood pressure and sent me back to the waiting room. They said the bill was for "check-in". Never again. Would go to a vet hospital before I'd ever go back there.

The people are rude called up to check on a family member and the lady who transferred my call was rude but what was even worse was a women who answered in the recovery ward where my family member was at pretty much belittled me and said they will not take message or let them know I called. Understandable they have other patients before I could say anything else she hung up on me. This hospital is a joke they need to get better employees or at least teach them respect

I was born here in 1971. If you have heart problems, this is the place to be. My mom has recovered from 2 strokes, nine stents and open heart surgery here, all textbook. They replaced my hips, they were great, it's not their fault these hips are god damned rotten and recalled. ER can get bogged down at prime time, but not bad at all usually. Way more comfortable than Hurley.

I took my daughter to emergency once twice three times the emergency room were filthy end of story. Bathrooms were terribly dirty. When they roll your bed out to take you for a test it looked like people peed all over the floor. They definitely need more help. No wonder people leave there and have Mercer.

Absolute worst place ever. My Dad is there recovering after a colon cancer procedure. He had to have a colostomy bag out in place and they decide that while he s eating, which has been rare, that is the time to drain the bag. They don t listen to him when he says he s sore from sitting the same way for days. And worst of all, we were told that he has brain cancer only to be told the next day that they must not have looked closely enough because there was nothing to worry about.

Absolute trash. Hate it, can t give it 0 stars so 1 will have to work.

Not happy with the nurses and Doctors at McLaren Flint hospital. They lost my Mother, her purse and cell phone were stolen.
Felt no compassion from nurse when asked for a blanket, we were told they didn't have any.
No gloves were worn by the nurse Jeff, when giving an IV.
Dr asked patient what was wrong and when she explained her pain as a kidney stone, he asked her if she was confident in her self diagnosis...When she has an appointment for surgery to remove the stone. IV bag was dry for 2 hours. Not one nurse came in to see how patients was doing. Dr was a very cold person with a very bad bedside manner. I am being polite.
Very, very , very disappointed in the care that she was given. Will not go back. 1 star rating is by far too much to give as a review.

I am currently sitting in the ER, admitted waiting for my room upstairs. I have an infected surgical wound with abscess. The dr I seen from the beginning of my stay was rude. Cut me off. Only half really listened to what I had to say. Was in a ton of pain. She said she was putting orders in for some medication, well she never did. Nurse had to get ahold of her and she still didn't do what she said. I'm honestly afraid to be admitted here just from this short 3 hours I've already been here. I'd go somewhere else if I could.

We took my sister in law to McLaren, at the beginning the Nurse Heather in ER was not doing a good job finding a vein. She poked both arms, on the second attempt Heather told the Nurse gaurdian you wanna try it, second attempt was a failed too. I swear Nurse gaurdian was pushing so hard on the syringe for flushing. I said there must be something wrong . Then Heather told me that another person will come to do that I was like what. Third nurse was really professional. I gave 4 Stars because the nurse name Josh he is very professional, compassion and really cares. Thank you Josh for your hard work .

Worst experience EVER.... Wait times and treatment have gone downhill in ED. I have watched 4 sets of patients walk out the door without treatment after waiting 3+ hours.....My uncle is here and has had 11 surgeries in one month for their incompetence.... Go somewhere else if you can. This place will let you die in the waiting room before registration even comes round to you.

My husband and I went on Vacation Friday and I was taken to the hospital Friday night with TIA. The ER staff was wonderful. . I was taken up to my room and treated bye the most caring people. My nurse on days Katie and Laquetta , My night nurse Ryan and Marlyn went above and beyond the call of duty. Many, Many thanks to these 4 people. The staff that took me down for my tests never came back to get me on Saturday and on Sunday. WAS NOT very happy about that. The Lady that did my EKG on Sunday saw that no one had come for me so she took me back to my room. While returning to my room I saw the young lady in the hall texting on her phone, not doing her job. My Dr called for my records on Tuesday. Hospital said they sent them. I called and was told they were faxed 2 days ago. I asked if the hospital got a confirmation on the fax and Yvonne was very rude and said no they dont get conformations. Still no fax and I was told I had to come in and sign for them, well I live 6 hours from there. I put a call in and no one called back. My DR needs the records to treat me. Can someone help? Thank you Josephine Redding.

Date of Visit: 12/30/19
I took a family member, per their request, to the ER on a Monday afternoon. The first thing I saw in the lobby was a used exam glove on the floor. That set the tone for the visit. This was the dirtiest I've ever seen this hospital to be. It appeared no one had clean in at several days. I saw trash under 3 or 4 chairs in the waiting room, and the ER floors were awful. Restrooms in the ER reeked of urine and toilet seats were dangerously loose. We appeared to be in an older section of the ER where rooms are just divided by curtains. This is in no way HIPAA compliant as everyone could hear everyone else's personal information. My relative had severe back pain and couldn't lie down, but only one very thin pillow was provided. We asked about a couple more pillows and were told "I'm not sure we have any". Had to prop the person up using their bunched up coat and sweatshirt. Eventually someone brought in a 2nd pillow after a patient in another curtained area told them we needed one!!! In the 4 hours I was there I saw no one clean anything, and staff in general was in short supply. I've given 2 stars which I feel is generous, because some of the staff were very nice. Most, however, seemed like they were just serving time until they could get out of there. I would never go to this location by choice.

I brought my infant son in because I was worried his lung was going to collapse again(he has a congenital condition which can cause this), it had a few weeks prior. I took him to McLaren and not Hurley because I was right around the corner from Mclaren. I was in panic mode as you can imagine. The check in nurse was EXTREMELY rude, her name was Candace and she just kept telling me they didn't treat pediatric patients. Mind you I was crying and my infant son was screaming. She had zero concern for my 3 month old or for me. I pretty much had to insist they see him because I wasn't getting back in my car to drive to Hurley with the chance of his lung collapsing on my way there. I will never ever ever go to this hospital again. She was the most heartless nurse I've ever encountered and should not in any way be in charge of helping people in crisis situations.

Say in the ER waiting room for well over 2 hours, at least 15 people that came after me were called back before me. Quality of care was horrible. I overheard staff making fun of patients. It was a huge wait at every stage.

I'd give this place zero starts if I could. I was sent to ER by my PCP for cernerns of infection due to high WBC count. Spent 8 hours here for them to tell me my doctor was lying and I was there to have symptoms treated. And when I said no I wasn't there for symptoms they asked why I didn't notify anyone of my doc sending me..... I literally told everyone from the receptionist to triage to every nurse and doc. I was forgotten about for my CT. When it came time to discharge I was upset and the doctor went out to make fun of me to another doctor outside the door. I should have taken my chances at hurley. These people are down right rude and offensive.
