My biggest issue in writing this review was my experience with Dr. Basata. Most everyone else was nice and helpful, nurse Karen was an actual angel and the man who did my anesthesia was amazing. I was scheduled to have a surgery with Dr. Basata due to the fact that I couldn't urinate with a current medication I was taking. Prior to the surgery, staff assured us that either the person who brought me or I would be able to talk to the Dr. and ask him questions after the surgery, this never happened. Dr. Basata said two things to the person who brought me and never gave them the opportunity to ask any questions. The person who brought me was told I have mild cystitis by the dr, when we got home to look it up we found multiple things that could be classified as cystitis, bacterial and interstitial. It took a month of trying to contact him to find out which one I had. He wrote me prescriptions after the surgery for two of the same medicine that would have just given me bad side effects and wouldn't do anything to help me, my pharmacist cought this and tried to contact the and couldn't get in contact with him for hours. One of the two things he prescribed to me was a medicine I had side effects from in the past and he had this information in my records. 6 weeks from the surgery I had a follow up phone appointment and immediately he questioned me about the side effects I had from that medication despite me not taking it for around a year, it legitimately felt like he didn't know what my appointment was for and got confused about past records. I tried asking him to help me understand what my diagnosis was and he yelled at me saying that that's what he spent the last 5 minutes doing. I still feel like I have no idea what my diagnosis means and am turning to another urologist to try to help me despite this Dr. Being the one who performed my surgery. On that same call the dr told me to go back to taking the medication that made it so I wasn't able to pee and I tried to ask him to explain why that was the treatment he wanted me to do when it gave me those issues and he wasn't able to explain that to me. He even noted that the way I was taking that medication (I only took it when I was In a lot of pain) wouldn't work and that it needs to build up in my system, when he prescribed me this medication he told me I could just take it as needed and those are literally the instructions on the prescription bottle that he wrote me. I also want to note that after my surgery the nurses got me ready to leave, I asked them if the dr found anything and they just told me the Dr talked to the person who brought me and answered the questions he had. I assumed he didn't find anything because they didn't seem to care about me knowing my diagnosis or being able to ask questions, they just wheeled me out to my driver.
