Closed place for a long time, it says it is under renovation, but we saw no work. Beautiful place!

Still closed. Was great in the day . Now dreams are too big to reach the goals
hope it opens soon.. Ive been waiting years to stay there!! I fell in love with it when I drove by it and just had to sneak in and wander the grounds.. so sad to see the state it was in.. ecstatic to see someone bringing it back to life!!
When the balsams was open my fiance and I had dined there a few times I enjoyed it immensely we are waiting desperately for it to reopen as I understand it will be one of the finest resorts in New Hampshire in the Northeast excellent golfing skiing will be available fine dining shops to purchase items that may be a necessity or just a gift shops I being one of the townspeople can't wait for it to reopen.
This is not a functioning hotel, restaurant or attraction. This place is closed. It's a beautiful building but the renovations have been stalled for years.
It is closed looks like 10 years before they complete it
I've grown up around the Balsams all my life. It is so beautiful there. The owner that built it it has been said that the whole idea behind the Balsams was that he wanted to bring a litof Switzerland here with him.
The place was amazing, I live in Colebrook the town next to where the Balsams is located, I used to go skiing at the Balsams ski resort right down the road sadly its closed, I was 6 or 7 years old when it closed, I am 14 now and sadly I havent heard a whole lot about it re-opening. I hope that the owners will try their best to get the money and resources to get the Balsams to re-open, lots of memories made at that place... RIP
It's been closed for years... It is falling apart and will take Millions to bring it back to life... It's a shame !
was a great experience many years ago
.
Year after year after year of a lack of information about reopening is sad, as is the fact that the golf course is not open for play.
So beautiful. Majestic. Historic. I just wish they would reopen . This marvelous place has been abandoned for years already.
This place is *not* open. Furthermore, it will take a lot for it to open based on the condition of some of the buildings and the condition of the grounds. It s basically a ghost resort reminiscent of a Stephen King novel. But you can t deny its majesty. Someone who has lots of money to spend will be required for this resort to be restored.
Just riding on our motorcycle and came around a corner and there it was!!!! Amazingly Beautiful! The door man welcomed us in and it was a history lesson and a wonder, he told us of the restaurant at the top of the mountain at the golf course so we ate lunch on top of the world that day! Sorry there was no pictures of the golf course or ski area, we live in Florida and our son lives in Whitefield so I do hope to return some day to one of the most beautiful grand hotels we have visited in the USA! We are RVers
Great snowmobile ride from the Balsams to the windmills
To second Will Cunningham's comment from a year ago: "Read all the positive reviews with a grain of salt. The place is not open and the front is blocked off. It may open one day but all the positive reviews of how it is now are probably fake." It's shameful that Google allows this extreme level of misrepresentation on Google maps feature.
To take some pictures exclusively.
A simple stop at the edge of Highway 26 to take some shots of this fabulous site in the distance. Several vehicles stopped there at the same time as us to take pictures too. The environment is picturesque and the landscape is spectacular. Route 26 is worth it and deserves to be traveled quietly from one end to the other, by the way. It was the second time this year that we were browsing it. The first time on a motorcycle and we were driving for this last time. We share some photos here with our opinion. Please note that this site is apparently closed according to Tripadvisor.

Good resort, though currently burnt-out and in negotiations with folks to renovate. We were here just overlooking it on snowmobiles. very pretty.
A beautiful resort, with a vintage throwback feeling to the days when families spent all summer long here pursuing simple pleasures, such as swimming, bicycle riding, tennis and golf, and fine dining. I hope if and when the resort opens up again it will not have erased the magical mementos of its long history. Please, please re-open. There are no other resorts with The Balsams one of a kind charm.
This historic place was stunning however it is now closed and in disrepair. There are no trespassing signs at entrance. The views are still astonishing!
This resort is in the midst of a complete renaissance. The developers are selling units pre- construction right now. Offering a very new, creative time share option that is both fair and equitable for all parties.
This compound takes you back in time when life was simple and people were nicer to each other.
It appears that this is going to be very high end and simply spectacular.
Our family cannot wait for this newly designed and renovated property to open.
This will certainly be the most beautiful ski resort in the country.
