First time at Mauer Chevrolet. I was blown away with the professionalism and friendliness from all the staff. It was literally the best experience at a car dealership in all my years. A huge thanks to Adam Delmonico in Service and Warren Rancour. Outstanding.

Was sold a car with a bad engine!

Purchased a 2011 Chevy Malibu from this dealership on 11/17 and after tax, fees, title change and whatever else they make you pay for it was about $4200. Soon as I walked out the door after purchase I noticed my auto start didn't work and that was one of the selling points, but of course the young man who took me for test drive had the car running already (now i know it was to avoid me knowing it didn't work or if there were any starting issues) and when i went back in to tell them, the guy who sold me the car was no where to be found and after trying to get help I finally went to an office to inquire (they kind of left me to wonder when I first arrived too, but that's neither here or there) long story short they made me purchase another keyless start thingy and made me pay to have it coordinated with the car that I just bought Mind you this is 5 minutes after purchase and they charged me $200 more dollars. But I got it fixed because that was the reason I bought the car or one of them. Fast forward to 12/11 I tried to start the car and it wouldn't start so I had it towed to my mechanic who let me know I was sold a vehicle with a bad engine! I tried calling the dealership to inquire about my title since I knew they'd throw the "you should have bought the warranty that was worth more than the car before you left the lot" if i mentioned car issues, but got no answer and no call back. I called again after Christmas and again, no answer and no call back. Tried again today because I am trying resolve the matter myself but need the title in order to get out from under this mess and I still cant seem to reach anyone. I'm sure this happens to the best of them, but I figured I'd write a review so I can at least get a call back and to let ppl know that just because the dealer is telling you that they fix all major issues on sight and wouldn't sell a car with a bad transmission or engine it isn't true because its a matter of them just saying "They Didn't Know!" Be careful ladies and gentleman. and don't let the guy that you test drive with turn the radio on to distract you from the sounds of the car! don't let him tell you "Oh that's the heater" when in fact it's the ENGINE!

Also, the number that is in every response you see for a bad review goes to the receptionist (who's very cheerful) and she will just transfer you to an empty office where you will leave a message that no one will return!! And once she learns your voice and that you are calling again about the same problem the cheer seems to fade drastically!

I continue to have all my service done here because of their professionalism and friendliness. I trust the service people to be able to find the problem and fix it and I know they won't try to sell me a service I don't need. It did take a bit longer to get the work done this time-estimated 2 hours and it took 3 1/2 hrs- but free water, coffee and magazines helped :) Thanks!

Thought Denny Hecker was out of Jail Guarenteed $20,000.00 and my car on a new one. Made a trip on day off and the price changed to $25,100.00 and my car. Asked why so much more sales manager made mistake on year of my car by one year and did not know sticker price of new car was $1,000.00 more than he thought. Walked out and did not recieve a thank you or anything.

Went there to test drive a 2019 Chevy Equinox which was a waste of time. The salesman took us around the block! Seriously what a F!#:;*&; waste of time. The commercials say I'm number one, well I guess only if I want to buy a car then I am. But today it was all about getting me in the car and back to the dealership without doing a real test drive. Will never buy a car from Mauer Chevrolet and I would not stop there to ask for help if I was dying. Mauer's only care about money and how much they will get from you, they do not care about actually helping you. Jusy know Mauer = Care only about $$$$

I purchased an Equinox and really enjoyed my experience working with the Mauer staff. I really appreciated how my sales rep (Joe) helped me identify what features were most important to me in a vehicle. He kept me focused during my search which resulted in me purchasing a vehicle I absolutely love! Joe and the finance team spent over 4 hours working with me to ensure I received a payment I was comfortable with. Thanks Mauer Chevrolet.

I purchased a new Silverado from Mauer. The sales team was very kind and knowledgeable about the truck I was purchasing and they gave me a great deal! I've recommended everyone I know that's in the market for a new vehicle to buy at Mauer Chevrolet.

I've been using Mauer Chevrolet for the past few years for all certified work. They're service has been above and beyond. Both Chris and Jason in the Service area have always been able to answer my questions and provide a quality service.

Just purchased a 99 Silverado through private party. Somebody had replaced the ignition and thrown away the original keys at some point. I went in to Mauer to get a door key cut, using the VIN. After waiting for 2 minutes for somebody to come to the parts counter to help, a guy reeking of cigarettes finally came out to assist me. I told him my situation, and without even attempting to help, he promptly said there's nothing he can do, that my truck is too old to look up the key code for. After I left, I called another dealership Chevy dealer, told them the situation, gave them my VIN and promptly got the code for my keys. Needless to say, Mauer was lazy and refused to even attempt to help. Unfortunately, I purchased a vehicle from them last year so I'll probably have to keep returning to this place. This is the second case of horrid, lazy customer service I've had from them.

My daughter totaled out her Saturn moving to Colorado, so I needed to find her a new vehicle. I have dealt with Mike and his team when I Leased my new Malibu and had excellent service that time. I stopped in and spoke with Mike to see if he could help me get my daughter a vehicle in Denver. At first he was going to assist with purchasing one in Denver but insisted I purchase one on his lot and they would have it delivered to her doorstep in Denver. Thank you to Dennis for helping choose the proper vehicle. I just want you to know you have a customer for life for your outstanding customer service. Thank you again for all your help she was so happy.

I Was told by a service receptionist to bring my vehicle in earlier so they would be able to perform the service before closing. After bringing in my vehicle and leaving work early I was told by another service representative (after 2 hours of waiting) that they would not be able to complete it. I was then told it would need welding and 5+ hours to put a trailer hitch receiver on. It's a bolt on kit. Will not be back for future service.

I told the service writer what was wrong. He took my vehicle and said he d check it out. He came back and said it would a full day to fix and cost $1360.00. I told he I couldn t do that right now. He got my truck and gave me a bill for $163.00, telling me what I already knew was wrong. I will not be back to Mauer. Chevrolet , that got the last dollar from me they will ever get

I purchased a 2014 Chevy Cruze 2LT from Brandon at Mauer Chevrolet. Brandon was very friendly. I appreciated that he went out of his way to ensure that I leased a car that I loved. Larry, the sales manager, was also very helpful. I really liked the pledge that was presented at the beginning my conversation with Brandon. It showed the integrity that I experienced throughout my entire experience at the dealership. Overall, a great experience. I will be back when my lease is up.

We had a great experience at Mauer Chevrolet! Chris was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We feel we got a very fair deal on our trade and a good price on our new vehicle. The process was comfortable and efficient. The dealership is immaculate and inviting. We are very happy with our new truck and had a good time shopping and buying at Mauer Chevrolet. Thanks Mauer Team!

I purchased my 2014 Traverse from Mauer in November, 2014 and stopped by to look at the 2017' Traverse, while my car was in for a crankcase problem. Hector in Sales met with me on the 2017 Traverse and tried to put a trade together for my car. Even brought Mathew, his boss in to work the numbers. I told Hector, I was probably going to buy the 2017, but cannot do it until I get back from Florida on the 29th of June. Will give him a call on the 30th. It is so nice working with your people and I will be back in at the end of June.

The staff was courteous. The waiting area was clean, comfortable and had good coffee. The part for my car was defective and they couldn't fix it the first day I came in. I came in early the next day and they were done in less than an hour so I didn't have to miss any more work time. When it comes time to buy a new car I will definitely come to Mauer.

This may be the worst dealership in the Twin Cities. I wrote them off about a year for terrible service, but in a recent pinch I tried scheduling an appointment for my truck. 2 weekends in a row I stopped in. The first weekend I came in with nothing on the books, and they do not take walk-ins so I made an appt. for the following weekend with the gentlemen standing right behind the counter. I showed up the next weekend and no one knew of any appt. that was made; the kid at the counter seemed irritated and uncompromising as he did nothing to provide any sort of customer service. I was told a single mechanic was working... On a Saturday? Every single time I deal with Mauer it's a waste of time and money. As a manager myself, I just cannot comprehend how a person who manages his/her operation so poorly even merits the position.

EDIT: AFTER THE RESPONSE TO MY REVIEW ABOVE:

I received a message soon after I posted this review. However, it quickly became clear to me that I received the 'ready-made', automated response that you send in response to all of your poor reviews. Nonetheless, I called the number you provided and.... Surprise! Surprise! Not one person I spoke to one the phone knew who to transfer my call over to, and once I got on the phone with the service manager, he had no idea what I was referring to or why I called. When a someone in manager position tells a customer, "I don't know what you want me to do"... It could be assumed that the manager has ideas to remedy the situation. However, this manager did nothing. Doing anything would've been better than doing nothing. The conversation quickly ended after I realized that my called was futile attempt in my quest for customer satisfaction.

When the occasion arises, I will make it a point to share my experiences with Mauer. Go anywhere else.

Hi! I have been a customer of Mauer Chevy for alm...

Hi! I have been a customer of Mauer Chevy for almost two years. I bought my Chevy Malibu to their service department every time I needed service on my car. I get an oil change about once every month or two months (yes, I put on lots of miles). When I bought the car, I felt ripped off. At the time before I bought the car, the internet price for the car was $12,995. The sales person told me the price of the car was $16,999.99. I told him about the internet price. He went to look it up and came back to say I was right. However, he sold me a bunch of other stuff I don't really need such as warranty, etc and the price was back to $16,999.99. I have to admit I was very skeptical. They rushed us through the sales and changed the plates from our old car to the new car without consulting us. We weren't planning on buying the car on the spot but man, they were very pushy. By the time we figured out the costs, the sales person already cleaned out our stuff from our old car and moved everything to our new car. We were disgusted. We are very easygoing people so we just accepted it and went home with the new car. Since then, I have been back every time for service. Each and every time, the service dept provided extremely poor customer service. One guy - I don't recall his name but I know his face --- he is extremely rude to me every single time. He is verbally abusive, insulted my intelligence, puts me down (probably because I am a woman), and other things that are unmentionable on the net. I go back because I have warranty (that the salesperson sold me and it was a crappy warranty), they give out about 2 free oil changes per year, and other reasons. I have to add one more thing - they have two guys that I have seen in the service department - one is very nice and the other is rude. It would be nice to see the nice guy in the service department more often. I have not seen him there for a while. Also, it is ridiculous that you have to make an appointment for an oil change ahead of time. On top of that, while your car is getting an oil change, the wait is well over an hour each and every time. There are other places that do oil change for less money, better service, and your car is done in 20 minutes. Most places have drive in oil changes without an appointment but this place does not. While they might have some nice cars in their lots --- do expect bad service from them. Horrible. I felt manipulated, lied to, coerced, etc. If I hadn't bought my car here, I wouldn't even bother with this place. I miss the old Saturn in Inver Grove Heights. They have an excellent service department and I have always had good luck with them. Mauer Chevy === POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! One would think Joe Mauer would be extremely embarrassed to know that his brother's dealership doesn't treat their customers well.

Called for an appointment to have the oil changed on my truck. They are always a week and a half out so I always call ahead. When I called to confirm the day before the service advisor said that he could not find me on the schedule for that day and I would have to reschedule? I called Polar Chev and they were able to take me the next day. I've had a few bad experiences with Mauer and will be having my truck serviced at Polar from now on.

Worst service department experience of my life. Fun fact an employee told me. Saturdays are reserved for "mainly oil changes" and setting up a service appointment counts for nothing...it only means you are down to be seen. Says nothing about when or what order your vehicle will be looked at. Joe Blow can pull it in and get treated the same way.

Very polite and attentive service dept. I'll buy from them again. Thanks

Edit 9-8-17 I said I'd buy again and I did. We now have 2 Chevys from Mauer Chev. Tony & Matthew were great to deal with. Very polite & professional. Super clean store, nice selection & great people & prices!

UPDATE:::: Mauer Chevrolet took time to read my review and reach out to me. I had a conversation with the service advisor that assisted me last week.. we were able to have a cordial and relaxed conversation of my experience. We came to an amicable resolution and conversation of what transpired. I advised at the time I appreciated the time to reach out and have a conversation and would update my review to show they were serious about their customers and reputation with customers. I would have gone from my original 1* review to 3* based on just that action... However they went a step further and showed they do really appreciate customers.. they got me to the service manager, who went a step further and wanted to assist me in any way they could to try and remove the bad taste in my mouth from my experience. I will say their conversation and their actions from both employees to come to a resolution was what you want to see/have when there is an issue that can be discussed. This Is why I am changing my review to 5* ...... Original complaint summarized::::::::I had a couple safety recalls on my truck. I brought it in and advised that I just need the recalls done, since they can only be done at a dealership. They advised it would take a couple hours, which I was ok with. I got there at 8am.. after being in the waiting area for an hour, the service advisor came out and advised they had not started the recall work but instead came out with 5 different things my truck needed work on. After talking we ended up doing one of the 5 items.. long story short, after second opinions, there was a very big disagreement on what was needed and what was not.. left a bad taste in my mouth in dealing with the dealership....

SLOW service. Just spent 2 hours and 15 minutes waiting to have 2 tires replaced, and they weren't even busy (I peaked in the work bay and only saw two other customers in the waiting area). I asked that the new tires be put on the rear axle because the vehicle is rear-wheel drive and they put them on the front axle...

Experience a few weeks ago: SLOW and BAD service. Went in for a simple oil change; 3 hours later the place is closing down and the cashier wonders why I'm still there- turns out the mechanic who was supposed to do the work left early without telling anyone! Thankfully someone stayed to actually do the work and they didn't charge me for it, but he forgot to reset the onboard computer telling me I need an oil change and didn't lubricate any joints. So after two bad experiences, I'll find a different Chevy dealer. The service department isn't being run like it should.

I rolled into Mauer Chevrolet with a old, decrepid ride that went bad. Warren, of the sales staff worked with me in finding a new car. He worked with several banks and was VERY succesful. As an employee with a major bank, I received some great perks and incentives towards my purchase, plus a good allowance on my car trade in.

The staff was more than professional, they treat customers like VIPs. This is the way car buying should be. Warren was with me throughout the entire experience- even letting me drive my car off the showroom floor. How COOL is that??!!! When finance manager Steve registered my car I asked about transferring my personalized license plates. He advised waiting until the current plates on the car expired and then will I do the plate transfer at the MN DVS office.

I would not hesitate sending new and prospective customers to Mauer Chevrolet- I LOVE THOSE FOLKS!!!!

:-D

I called the Mauer service department on August 17...

I called the Mauer service department on August 17th to schedule the first free oil change at 10:00 a.m. on August 24th. While on the call, the gentleman taking the call informed me there were 2 recalls on the vehicle. We included those to be taken care of on the same date. I asked if Mauer had loaner vehicles because I was traveling from 120 miles away. He told me I would not need one. When I got to the dealership on the 24th, Dale couldn't have been nicer! He was very polite, and helped me get checked in. I asked if the technician could check inside the truck to see if we possibly had a mouse nest. Dale seemed very knowledgeable and said it was likely that a mouse made a nest in the cabin filter and that they would check it and replace it if necessary. He said it would cost about $70. I told him that was fine. He asked if I was waiting for the vehicle, and I again asked if there was a loaner car. He indicated that the service would take a couple of hours, and would see if they still had a loaner available for me. Again, he tried to be very accommodating. After he finalized the check in and loaner, we walked out to the car. He immediately apologized for the smell inside the Trek and told me he could find me another if the smell was too much. I was only going as far as Woodbury, and I said it would be fine. I drove out of the dealership and was only 5 minutes down the road when Dale called and asked if I could leave my Silverado overnight. I literally laughed out loud, and told him I could, but I would need to go home, so would need a different loaner since the smell was indeed too much for a 4 hour round trip drive. He told me to come back and he would get me another. He immediately apologized upon my return to the dealership and said that my diesel truck needed at least 4 hours to fully cool before any work could be done. As he was working on another loaner, he repeated apologized for the inconvenience. At that point I was understanding, and although would have to travel a long distance home and back, I know mistakes can be made, so did not make a big deal at the time. Before leaving the dealership in the Impala loaner, I asked if I should return at 8:00 a.m. the next day. Dale told me it would likely not be done until after noon, and I should wait for a call. That seemed like a very long time for the service, but I just planned to leave home a little earlier hoping it would be done before rush hour. Dale called the next day about 10:30 to let me know it would indeed be done around 2:30. He called on the 25th at 2:42 to let me know the truck was done. When I arrived, Dale confirmed that the cabin filter was indeed chewed up and needed to be replaced. The cost came to just under $70. I said, "How do you feel about comping me that for the inconvenience of having to drive another 240 miles." He immediately said, "absolutely". No questions asked. I told him that I was disappointed that the dealership had my truck from 10 - closing on Monday, and the service was not finished until 2:45 the next day. He again explained that the vehicle needed to completely cool before the recall work could be done, and that it should have been explained to me when I made the appointment. I was super happy with the customer service from Dale up until the very end when he told me that I would get a survey, and if I could not say "completely satisfied", that I should just skip the survey. My mouth literally dropped open and I must have looked shocked, because he said, "Really, skip it." He called the next day to see if everything was fine with my service, and I reiterated how pleased I was that he was willing to comp the cost of the cabin filter. Customer service = good. Actual vehicle service = lacking. That is the reason for 3 stars. I do not need a follow up call from the Dealership.

I brought my GM certified pre-owned Cruze here in ...

I brought my GM certified pre-owned Cruze here in Summer 2016, while it was still just inside its 1-year warranty (the car was purchased from Country Chevrolet in Annandale). At least one of the cylinders' rings had failed, and a whole lot of stuff ended up being replaced (all of the cylinders, cylinder head, piston rod, etc., etc.). When the engine was first opened up a service advisor mentioned to me that I might be getting a new engine. Alas, I did not, and just about everything but the engine block was replaced. I still had check-engine light issues after this, and ended up also having the turbo replaced at Mauer shortly thereafter.

Probably a little over a year later I started having decreased mileage and power issues, particularly when the car was starting up from being cold. After getting a number of things looked at and fixed at my local NAPA shop over the past 1.5 years (air intake, sensors, etc.), I brought it back to Mauer this spring. Following the codes that the car was giving them, they first fixed a number of oil/gasket leaks in the engine, then replaced my catalytic converter. When none of this fixed the problem they finally opened up the engine and discovered much the same problem as I had the first time, but now there was also major scoring/damage to the engine block itself. At this point I do honestly believe that the service advisor who was helping me, Eric, did everything he could for me. He discounted the price of a new engine and then subtracted the costs of the work that they'd already done to try and fix the problem. But I still paid $4,500 (plus the close to $2,000 I'd spent in repairs at Mauer prior to the replacement), and this doesn't count the money I spent trying to fix this same issue before bringing it back to Mauer. Eric was not the one who worked with me the first time that I had the car in (under warranty), and I truly believe that if Mauer had done what it should have done then and put in a new engine at that time, it would have saved both of us a substantial amount of money.

As it is, taking into account the money that I've spent fixing/trying to fix JUST THIS ISSUE, I should have bought a new car instead of doing what I thought was a smart thing at the time (buying a certified used car that was "gently used" and that we would be able to pay off in a reasonable amount of time). The next time I purchase a vehicle I'll go with a company that knows how to make an engine that lasts for more than 60,000-70,000 miles (such as Honda or Toyota). As such, I likely won't be coming back to Mauer for a vehicle purchase or service in the future if I can avoid it.

After confirming over the phone that my wife, baby, and I wanted to take a vehicle out on our own, they refused to let us after we drove 30mn to the dealership. They wasted my time by changing the story when we got there.

Took my Yukon in for service before a big trip, my major complaint was a bearing noise from the front of the engine and the ac belt was missing. Went back the day before the trip to find the water pump had been replaced. Drove to the store and on the way out the coolant warning light came on. Looked under the hood and found multiple coolant leaks and no ac belt. Of course they couldn't get the ac parts but they were nice enough to fix the coolant leaks. It was a hot drive to Texas with a car load of people and a bearing noise still. Got it fixed in Texas.

Working a deal on a new car was given a price and ...

Working a deal on a new car was given a price and when that wasn't in my range, I passed on the offer. Ten minutes later they called with a price close to my range. I repeatedly asked the salesperson about mileage and was given excuses each time and that she would find out for me. The next day she called saying for the first time the car was a drac and had over 3000 miles on it. I said I wasn't intetested in that. I was then contacted by a manager to 'smooth things over' who was rude and repeatedly said how much they had done for me and that the salesperson had told me from the start the car was a drac, absolutely not true. I had hung up on her when she kept insisting and when she called back again she said good luck finding a car and hung up on me. Professional, customer focused service?

The dealership response was to have me reach out to them to address the situation. Why don't they reach out? I did contact them they took my information and never followed up or responded in any way. Beware, just because the Mauer name is there doesn't mean they are honest and reliable.

When we stopped at Mauer Chevrolet the first time ...

When we stopped at Mauer Chevrolet the first time we test drove a vehicle and said we would like to think about it overnight to contact us the next day. No follow up call. I understand everyone gets busy. So we drove back down 2 days after our initial visit and asked for the salesman we dealt with. We were told he works next door at the Buick dealership and would have to go over there. So we drove next door to find out he was off today, but someone else could help us and we would need to drive back over the Chevy dealership.( I thought maybe they could have called between the dealerships to see if our salesman was in rather than have us chase back and forth.) After doing another testing drive there was no pressure to buy and the salesman and sale manager ask if we want some time to discuss the vehicle with my wife, which was perfect. Here is where things fell apart. No one ever came back to check on us. We sat there 15 minutes. I'm not sure where the salesman went and the sales manager was taking to other salesman at the counter. I appreciate the no pressure, but follow up is everything. We we finally just left cause no one ever came back. We ended up purchasing a Colorado at another dealership the very same day. Follow up is critical and I feel we were just just not very important here.

My Chevy Cruze was three years old and has a sensor light that keeps going off. They said they can diagnose it and it may be under warranty still. Their diagnosis was a computer failure, rather general and odd for a new vehicle, and it was not covered under warranty. Then they charged me $100 for the diagnosis, absurd!
I've owned a Dodge and Hyundai, they would never charge you for a diagnosis if they can not tell you in advance of whether it was under warranty or not.

Sales department was very unprofessional and could care less about the customer, just getting another vehicle out the door. Used my GM dollars in qoute, not how it's supposed to work! Service department very independent. Would not recommend this dealership to anyone!!
