We visit Massanutten every other year and they keep adding more activities for both adults and children.
Quiet and relaxing. Lots of things to do in any weather.
Everything cost to much, hotels are outdated and smelly. Water park is lame(ok for small children), don't waste your money..... go to the beach. This resort is for middle aged to elderly golfers.
We arrived on a Saturday night...waited over an hour to check in. Room was semi-clean, dead bugs and spiders were in corners and floors. Once we were finally checked in, we went to eat at a BBQ restaurant at the resort, but the wait for fast food was over an hour too. We left and went elsewhere. The next morning, we went to the on resort grill for brunch. We were told 15-25 minute wait...after 30 minutes, we asked how long and they said probably 45 more minutes as they only had 3 servers show up to work today. So many unhappy customers!!
The waterpark was amazing!!!
I got a call late on a Sunday evening saying that I had won a contest that I had signed up for at a festival a few weeks before. I was told that I won and ipad and I had to do was come out to the resort and take a 90 minute tour. No big deal. If I had known that it was a timeshare resort from the beginning though, I probably wouldn t have put my name in for the contest.
My girlfriend and I made the trip to the resort last weekend and were greeted politely at the front desk. Once we got signed in, we met our tour guide who I ll refer to as P.A. . We were immediately thrown into a cheesy sales pitch conversation. We took a small tour around the building before we hoped into P.A. s car for the tour around the resort. The whole time he preached about how vacation was a healthy part of life and how he wished he had known about the wonders of time shares during his life while he was overpaying for vacations. Sorry about your luck, P.A.
After about an hour, he started getting a bit more aggressive with his pitches to the point of making us feel uncomfortable. We were very clear from the start that a timeshare wasn t in our budget and we weren t interested. I m 25 years old, I figured that it would be pretty easy to understand, I suppose not.
On multiple occasions, P.A. made sure to tell us that he had to give up tickets to the JMU football game today because he had to work. I did feel bad for him, as it was their Homecoming, but don t try to guilt me into buying a timeshare from you just because you had to give up tailgating to go to work.
On two occasions during the tour, he would pull into completely empty parking lots that were completely off of the beaten path, park his car in the middle of it and talk to us intensly about the financials of the timeshare purchase. I haven t felt that uncomfortable in a VERY long time. A guy that I have never met takes my girlfriend and I completely away from everyone else and is trying to sell us something. Are you trying to win the purchase with intimidation and awkwardness? Maybe you should go with a different sales tactic.
Our final stop on this lovely tour was to a one bedroom/ one bathroom condo that was available. This place was not nearly as luxurious as we had been made to believe and at no point did I think that I would enjoy even one night staying there. It seemed more like a dorm room set-up the way that all of these condos were organized in this building.
Finally, AFTER 3 HOURS, we got back to the resort where P.A. was gearing up to give us the last pitch and try to get us to purchase a time share. He went over all of the financial offers and even through us a special one day offer . Once again, we politely told him that while the resort has beautiful scenery, that we were not interested. He acted completely insulted and became very rude, like we had wasted his time. The mean looks and cold shoulders started right about then. I m sorry P.A., but it is completely the other way around. We were taken into a back room to get checked out by a manager who seemed to thankfully be much more pleasant. The only thing that annoyed me about her was the fact that she tried to slyly offer us a really special deal . Sorry, still interested. Finally we were given the prizes that we had won and got out of dodge after about 3 and a half hours from first arriving to the resort.
What started off as a 90 minute commitment turned into almost 4 hours. What did I really win in this situation? And IPad and an extremely unpleasant waste of a Saturday. Avoid this place at all cost, it s a complete rip-off and you are treated like garbage if you express no interest in what they are selling. I ll never be back there and I will make sure that everyone I ever talk to about vacationing knows how poorly we were treated at Massanutten Resort.
It's a beautiful place but it can get a little pricey
Greet place, but our place had ants inside all over place...
I love the serenity of the mountains in Massanutten
AWESOME!!! We stayed at the mountainside villas townhouses. Huge beautiful, clean. Will stay here again. We even had our own sauna in the townhouse. Deer came right to our door every evening.
Would have been 5 if membership owners didnt have to do the most to get a room has ralk ins
Be careful with this place. They will show you 'amazing deals' and great rates in order to sell you a timeshare and will lie about the price. Then after you have paid them 10's of thousands of dollars they will continue to charge you ever-increasing maintenance fees and tell you that you are trapped for life. I would recommend never ever buying a timeshare, especially here where they are so unwilling to work with the owners that they claim to care so much about.
The worst part about it, is that this resort truly does have a lot of fun things to do, and the rooms are actually quite nice. Its simply nothing more then the terrible owners association.
If someone from the resort reads this and actually cares about current owners, please contact me.
So much to do. Condos are nice. Maintenance is great too.
The hotel is extremely out dated. It's worst than 2 star motels. The tiny 1980 TV size tells you all they want is your money. The timeshare is a ripped off. Never buy a timeshare unless you want to throw away money. The water park is expensive and inconvenient. The only nice thing is the scenery. It's beautiful here.
I didn't like it the room is old and has bugs no microwave .
Woodstone at Massanutten was everything I wanted and more. The resort was loads of fun and even though you must pay to go to the indoor waterpark it's totally worth it. The apartment unit was great the hot tub was so huge my son used it as a swimming pool. I would love to stop by again soon the peaceful sunrises on the back balcony are calling my name.
I hate this place. I am a disabled person who is on many different narcotics, and reluctantly signed there contract. After doing so I started regretting it after. After they were told about my 42 surgeries and all I have been through they laughed at me and said the only way out is through bankruptcy. Then they started suing me for upkeep cost. I have had to pay an additional $1000 last year and now again at $2000. I cant pay it and they just take me to court making me drive over 10 hours to get there. Please let people know about how bad of a place this really is and the fact that they do not care about you.
Nice place to be and customer service is great, little expensive but understandable.
Great place to chill and see things with your children
My family had memorable fun time in the Massanutten resort during the week of Christmas in 2014. It is our first time to be there and we are also beginner skiers. The 1st highlight is their Mountain Cruise program for Kids. Both my 7-year-old and my 5-year-old daughters enjoyed so much in the lesson and their teachers, they took 2 days' lesson. After back, they have put the pin on their daily jacket to proudly show their friends that they know how to ski now. Adults were having free time to enjoy the lesson and ski as well while kids in their almost-whole-day lesson. The 2nd highlight is their excellent customer service. I received a call from Massanutten resort about my daughter s lost ski jacket one week after the ski trip. They politely asked me if I am still there to pick up the jacket. I told him that I have left and I will check if my friends are still there to pick up. A week later, my daughter s jacket is arrived to my house via a mailbox paid by the resort. I am amazed for their courtesy, considerateness, and speedy processing on this case. I highly recommend this ski resort to all my friends. We will come back next year and next year.
The Massenutten Waterpark is a great place to take the kids. It is busy but a great place to spend a hot afternoon in the summer.
We saw a lot of deers on the resort. We saw snow on ski slope.
First time, wont b the last the relaxation, peacefulness, activities n fresh air ...
4 season Family-friendly fun or just a quiet retreat it's all here.
Resort itself is really nice, recommend tubing. Stayed at Woodstone meadows, room itself is big and equiped
So beautiful. Worth the road trip. amazing environment
Owners for years and now they want to charge outrageous resort fees. WiFi never worked. Wouldn t allow people we called ahead to stay with us through the gate. Worst experience we ve ever had here.
Great condo looks almost new. Lots of amenities. It is a perfect family resort.
Service was slow, 2.5hr wait time to check in. Other then that great place!
Beautiful scenery, nice rooms, timeshare so not much interaction with staff, lots of activities.
Survived tour but the Resort experience was worth it will be back
It's a beautiful place to go with your family i love coming here it's a very peaceful place a few thing's i don't like is the old furniture they need to do a upgrade really bad and also i went to the market you get my son a pair of swim shoes and a guy by the name jay was a working he did not greet me and my family at all but i notice he was greeting everyone else that was not brown skin everyone's money is green i really didn't like that it make you feel uncomfortable but other than that it's really lovely. They need to clean these places a lot better dirt in the jets just nasty you pay way too much money for this place to not be cleaned properly wow really disappointed
Over priced. Drinks where weak and food was just alright.
We really enjoyed our vacation here over a short Labor Day weekend as there were many things to do and participate. My biggest complaint is that there were very limited cooking pans and other cooking utensils in our condo. They rent partial and full kitchens, and I'm assuming I rented a partial, but there were items to cook on in the condo, just nothing to cook with those items. In short, if you get a partial kitchen, bring some basic pans from home. Also, bring your own food and fixings because their "Market" and "General Store" sucks if you want to buy anything beyond ketchup or beer. Those names are fronts for souvenir shops. I was very infuriated by the lack of available grocery items.
All in all, I would return but I will just have to be more prepared for the property's inadequacies.
Beautiful resort! Water park staff are rude though and life guards don't really pay attention.... Two kids almost drowned.
I will be there for interview on Monday at my house in my name and address and I will send you the money when she gets home with the kids. Thanks for the update on the status of the money. I will be there at my you are doing well and enjoying the kids.
It's just a delightful place for a relaxing vacation. Beautiful views
Purchased my unit in 04, maintenance has been has been just about perfect. Units always clean when we arrive. Activities at the resort and surrounding area are great.
Absolutely have a great time always when visiting, accommodations, activities, dining and a outstanding staff.
This is a great place to take your family or just a couples getaway.
I am staying there now. Honestly its a huge resort with lots of activities to do. The condos are big. And the price is good. The negative part is that NO RESTAURANT IS GOOD. lol. From the grill to the pizza place. The food sucks. If we had known we would have gotten our own food. We will come back just next time we will bring to cook. THE BEDS ARE SOOOOO UNCOMFORTABLE. I woke up with my arms and outer thighs soar. The staff is friendly and they try to help. The resort doesnt have it perfect. But its not bad. Especially since you can sleep 6 or 7 ppl for around $140/night. Also wish they would have more lighting I the road at night. I did notice that all of our 4 kids had this bumpy red rash after swimming in the pool or waterpark. I think they put to much chlorine.
Almost immediately after the sale, after we got home, we called Massanutten to tell them to cancel the timeshare. The representatives told us cancellation could not be done over the phone; a letter had to be sent. So we sent a letter and it arrived just after the deadline. Nevertheless they were well aware that we intended to cancel this. The sales representatives never told us about the rescission period, in the sales presentation or when we were on the phone verbally telling them to cancel. We discovered the rescission period online by ourselves on Google. We attempted many times to cancel and made calls to different people, even Mr. Ron Taylor, Closing Officer, who told us to contact him for any reason or question we had. We have written before and even our lawyer wrote to them requesting cancellation and refund. We made the decision to buy based on the information given to us by a very aggressive sales representative. She pounded us and made it out like it was a very good opportunity we had in front of us and couldn t let it go. The sales representatives put a lot of pressure on us to buy and in fact we believed we had to sign a contract in order to get out. It was only after we signed that they told us about maintenance fees that would be due at the beginning of the year. The saleswoman made the presentation very confusing. She was very aggressive and jumped around among different options, different timeshare models, and different loan plans. Our heads were spinning with this overload of information. We tried to leave the presentation because the loan was too high. The sales manager showed up with an offer for a timeshare left from a previous owner. We wouldn t have to pay full price but only pay the balance that was owed on it. It was a significantly lower price than the other offerings and so we took it. Along the same line as that, the saleswoman told us it was easy to sell and more importantly that Massanutten would buy it back and then just sell it again. The sales representatives told us we had to wait until we got the document package before we could do anything but they sent the documents after the rescission period was over. How were we to read it over thoroughly and comprehensively before the rescission date? When we got the contract, we saw that the interest rate was too high. The sales representatives had told us we could go to the bank and refinance the timeshare but that is not the case. The bank doesn t want anything to do with it. The fact remains that we contacted the company before the end of the rescission period. We told them we wanted to cancel, over the phone, and then followed that up with more phone calls and letters. We want this timeshare contract canceled and the down payment refunded. That was the intent a few days in and has never changed, it will never change.
Great, but just wish there was more fresh snow. Was getting icy pretty quick
Love everything about this place. Everyone is great and fun to work with.
Enjoyed our stay. Drive to different places are needed as there is no shuttle provided. Kids need to be with adults at some activities.
The staff was friendly and helpful in planning activities. There is a wide variety of things to do and beautiful scenery.
The most beautiful place to have a vacation and all of the views breathtaking
Our family loves going to Massanutten each year. We especially enjoy the waterpark and rec center where we can play pool, ping pong, and arcade games. I would really like to see them update the furniture in the Summit lodging and fix many of the games in the waterpark facility arcade but it's still a great place to vacation and spend quality time with family.
Great place to spend with family on a trip. Nice facilities and places to eat
A great place to unwind and enjoy nature. Good eating and fun for the whole family.
Massanutten is a four season resort boasting of activities for all ages and kinds. I love it here.
Generally, it's a nice place for a family vacation. Just be aware that the best stuff they offer are usually rather expensive.
Beautiful scenery, nice facilities, and many activities.
Harrisonburg is a short drive with shops and restaurants.
(Would be more fun if not for covid)
Nive resort, layed out well, good activities and views
Our favorite vacation spot. We have been going there for 20 years
Went for a TimeShare pitch. The resort is really quite beautiful!
Great vacation place. Best in Virginia. No need to leave the resort.
Awesome place lots to do... food is kind of limited on property.....but great time.
I've been traveling to Massenutten resort every spring for the past 5 or 6 yrs for mountain bike races. Its a beautiful area. The resort has a lot of activities. The bike park is great! I love the west side trails too. The lodging at Eagle Trace is convenient, comfortable and clean.
Nice family resort. Great homes, lots of activities. Downside is activities are all over the mountain and there is no shuttle service.
Beautiful family themed resort with exceptional amenities. You and your family will enjoy your time here. There are water parks, golf courses, multiple pools, athletic courts, escape rooms, nightly themed community events, and more.
Always a pleasure to visit this location. The beautiful Shenandoah Valley region is wonderful to visit and this Resort has lots of activities. Actually, there are enough activities on the resort to keep you from visiting local areas. Totally enjoyed a falconry experience through the resort which was so unique! Accommodations are always clean although each of the different activities are additional to your initial payments, so be prepared to continue to spend more money after your arrival. Can't wait to come back in February to fully experience all the winter activities!
There's a lot to do. There's swimming, hiking, golfing. There's a water park nearby for the kids and many other activities. Personality, i enjoyed the peace and quiet of inactivity most.
So beautiful and peaceful. There were so very many things to do and the people were absolutely amazing! Craig Sales you are the best. Thank you for showing us this beautiful mountain
The last time when I came here was 2 years ago with my 2 months old baby. We stayed for two nights and the hot water didn't come out. We complained but they said just wait. Today, I am back here tonight and I'm spending my second night at Eagle Trace. We just saw a mouse in the kitchen and it ran to the living room. We were all freaked out and we tried to catch but we couldn't. I called the front desk and she told me to move the room if I want to at 1 am. (It takes about 10 minutes to just go to the front desk too and it's raining outside.) The lady at the front desk wasn't nice and she said I am sorry the maintenance's office is closed. She made me so upset. This place is not cleaned at all! When we arrived the first day, we checked into the room and the room wasn't cleaned and all the bedsheets and pillows were on the floor. We had to call them and let them know. They said they will give us a new room and we waited 40 minutes to get new keys from the security guy in the parking lot. Horrible!!! And! When we came to the new room, there were dead stink bugs in the kitchen and the floors and hairs in the jacuzzi. I don't think I would never want to come back! I want my money back!!! I wish I can upload the video of chasing the mouse!!! Yuck!
What a fun place! My family recently stayed here at the top of the mountain in eagle trace. Pools are nice and clean! Condo was huge! We stayed in crenshaw court in unit 317 B. Only complaint is the fridge leaked a lot of water and was hard to close. Also, a few nails raised on the front patio could be very dangerous for little feet! Other than that, we will make this a yearly trip!
fabulous. There is no better place to be. The fall colors have turned to deeper reds and browns, but this year we are having a warm spell, and people are out everywhere, walking, golfing, playing tennis. The children can play outside, and there are at least two playgrounds. It's just heavenly. Oh, and don't forget to stop at the little cabin in Hopkins park. Wine slushies. I just love it here.
Parts were very good and some staff were also good , but other staff that weren't relying tips let the rest and business down.
Concierge was less than helpful and they should of been the best.
