Almost immediately after the sale, after we got ho...

Almost immediately after the sale, after we got home, we called Massanutten to tell them to cancel the timeshare. The representatives told us cancellation could not be done over the phone; a letter had to be sent. So we sent a letter and it arrived just after the deadline. Nevertheless they were well aware that we intended to cancel this. The sales representatives never told us about the rescission period, in the sales presentation or when we were on the phone verbally telling them to cancel. We discovered the rescission period online by ourselves on Google. We attempted many times to cancel and made calls to different people, even Mr. Ron Taylor, Closing Officer, who told us to contact him for any reason or question we had. We have written before and even our lawyer wrote to them requesting cancellation and refund. We made the decision to buy based on the information given to us by a very aggressive sales representative. She pounded us and made it out like it was a very good opportunity we had in front of us and couldn t let it go. The sales representatives put a lot of pressure on us to buy and in fact we believed we had to sign a contract in order to get out. It was only after we signed that they told us about maintenance fees that would be due at the beginning of the year. The saleswoman made the presentation very confusing. She was very aggressive and jumped around among different options, different timeshare models, and different loan plans. Our heads were spinning with this overload of information. We tried to leave the presentation because the loan was too high. The sales manager showed up with an offer for a timeshare left from a previous owner. We wouldn t have to pay full price but only pay the balance that was owed on it. It was a significantly lower price than the other offerings and so we took it. Along the same line as that, the saleswoman told us it was easy to sell and more importantly that Massanutten would buy it back and then just sell it again. The sales representatives told us we had to wait until we got the document package before we could do anything but they sent the documents after the rescission period was over. How were we to read it over thoroughly and comprehensively before the rescission date? When we got the contract, we saw that the interest rate was too high. The sales representatives had told us we could go to the bank and refinance the timeshare but that is not the case. The bank doesn t want anything to do with it. The fact remains that we contacted the company before the end of the rescission period. We told them we wanted to cancel, over the phone, and then followed that up with more phone calls and letters. We want this timeshare contract canceled and the down payment refunded. That was the intent a few days in and has never changed, it will never change.
