Every detail thought of for a famiky holiday. The childcare is reasonably priced and stimulating to the kids. Basic items are ferociously expensive in the shop, but that's a small price to pay for 5 minutes of silence...!

Excellent for families! Amazing amenities like child minding at restaurants, allergen menus, toys and playgrounds, child minding half day and full day programs, and beach activities. It's truly unbelievable for families as the room we're in has a kids potty, child gates at the stairs, and TV with kids content (if you're into that).
I was staying at Martinhal for the first time in early September. The service from the staff was exceptional, from the reception to Pedro Leal at the pool bar, who gave us several tips on beaches to visit in the area. We stayed in a beach room, which is spectacular. Breakfast leaves a little to be desired and I think it is very much aimed at the foreign customer. However, care in relation to Covid-19 is very present, namely the disinfection of the sun loungers by the pool after use. We also had dinner at the hotel's Italian restaurant, the food was very good and the value for money was great. I hope to be back soon.
We liked the place very much. Location, architecture and service at a perfekt level. Not exactly a budget type of location you must be aware of extra cost for the restarants etc. Will we come back? Yes!
Greedy. Asked at the same time with my online booking if dogs are allowed you have answered by e-mail dogs are not allowed and I recommend another hotel. Nevertheless, but 1800 euros debited from my credit card ... obeohl I was not in the hotel. I am very disappointed. On my request for repayment you tell me only I should specify that of my insurance and not refund me the amount booked. For me a very incredible behavior
Amazing resort right on the beach, with a watersports hut where you can try windsurfing, kayaking, SUP, etc. They have a very professional on-site daycare that can care for babies, so it's lovely to be able to go on vacation and have a few hours to do activities that don't allow you to bring a baby along! Onsite restaurants are also very baby-friendly, with high chairs, bibs, and baby spoons provided and a selection of gourmet purees on the menu. Room was gorgeous and spacious, with an amazing view of the ocean and Cape Sagres.
There are rooms of every size including villas. Relatively large hotel complex which is quite uncompromising on families with especially small children. For absolutely great. For all other guests, this of course has disadvantages especially in the food and in the atmosphere
Great for families! Have a gardenhouse booked, super equipped, a lot of space. Restaurant prices are a bit overpriced, so a star deduction. The beach is very good, fine white sand, gently sloping, great for smaller children. Water temperature a bit cool, is just Atlantic.
No question, it's not cheap. But we had a wonderful and very relaxing time. Rarely have I slept so well! The houses are quiet and great designed, you feel right at home. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Gladly again!
Great Family resort, everything is fantastic for the children but not a punishment for the adults like in other family resorts. It is a place where everybody will have great holidays.
Our third and probably last stay, as service quality gets worse after all these years. We booked a Beach House which did not really have a beach view (while other guests booked a minor category and were upgraded with a better view). We moved the next day - unfontunatly our baggage got damaged (Martinhal was willing to pay for the repair, but what about the trouble there and back home to bring it in for repair and that we could not use it for the time of repair?). In the new room, water came out of the toilet on the floor, as it was not working properly - half a day of repair and cleaning. There were more smaller things like this, where every single one would have been ok - but not all together. Used kitchenware from room service stood in front of the houses for days; the Italien restaurant is really bad (in service as well as reagrding the food). Don't get me wrong, Martinhal Sagres is a beautiful place to stay with great nature and architecture and nice guests, but it lost its balance between costs and performance - I am willing to pay good money, but I expect a better service. In the end, the service manager did not even say sorry after talking about our dissatisfaction at reception, when we left. Maybe Martinhal can affort to behave like this at the moment, but this is no basis for a sustainable future, which is really a pity, as it is such a nice place over there.
About 5-star resort has not had other experiences in similar structures. The food is of average quality and the service is always very slow because the entire staff is junior.
If you are not in the villa, the rooms are small with no special arrangements for children and no intimacy for parents. You pay all very expensive for poor quality of the food so much that we started to eat out more.
Often you have to ask for things several times because the staff forgets.
Lovely resort and great for toddlers. Very expensive once there though, the restaurants and bars (and especially the supermarket) take advantage of the lack of any competition in walking distance.
Positives: Resorts location and view of the ocean from the room Negatives: We had multiple issues with our stay. The rooms have ants in them and although they tries to clean them, you'll see them everywhere, even in the bed. Kids corner at restaurants are just a loose play area. We left our son there and after 10 min realized he had ran away and no one noticed. Thank goodness we found him. The hotel's response to our complaint was you need to get a baby sitter if you want your child to be looked after. This is a service many hotels offer and it defeats the point of staying at this place.
The food in the hotel is overpriced considering how mediocre the dishes are. Both in taste and presentation.
We would not go back unfortunately. The experience did not make us feel special or supported.
Set in a national park on the Algarve coast, this upscale, contemporary-design resort is a 4-minute walk from the beach and 3.1 km from Sagres Point.
Featuring balconies, the modern rooms offer free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and desks; some rooms have gardens and/or ocean views. Suites add loft bedrooms, while 1- to 5-bedroom villas include features such as living rooms and private pools.
Breakfast and parking are free. Dining options include an Italian restaurant, a seafood eatery and a laid-back surf bar. There are 5 pools, as well as a kids' play area, a game room, a tennis court and a spa. Surfing lessons and yoga classes are available.
Whatever you say will fall short. One of the best family vacation resort in Europe. Better to see the web, reality still surpasses it. Architecture, activities, restoration, beach-bay, swimming pools, gardens and sports areas .... All great. Expensive but exclusive. Almost all British and German.
This could be a great place but has several problems. My wife and I went with a 2 year old and a 9 month old. The restaurants cater brilliantly for kids and the creche for toddlers was really good. The staff are amazingly friendly and eager to help. However, all the paths are cobbled, giving a bone-shaking ride for attepting-to-sleep babies. Our baby kept slipping down the high chairs due to lack of support. We had ants in our kitchen which wasn't taken seriously enough by staff. I think the place works well for toddlers but is lacking when it comes to babies. You should get what you pay for and I honestly don't think that, at the rate they charge here, you do.
My partner and I went to Martinhal for a short break in April and stayed in the hotel with a full sea view. This was without doubt the finest holiday we have ever been on. The staff were outstanding, the venue was luxurious and the surrounding area was breathtaking.
Never would I have believed I could feel so relaxed, especially during a period where UK was on easter break and there were families all around us.
I cannot say enough about all the staff and how wonderful they made our stay. With the hotel and surroundings being so beautiful, it would be easy for the staff to just expect repeat business, but I have never been to a resort where the staff have been so helpful, friendly, but most importantly genuine.
I cannot wait to go back again and again. Pure heaven on earth.
Brilliant resort to come to as a family. Pools are great and staff are lovely and brilliant with kids. Food at the restaurants is also great. Only downside is it can be a bit windy and the shop and activities are very expensive
It has a privileged location in elevated area overlooking the cape of Sagres and the beach that lies between the cliffs. It is very easy to find the Martinhal because it has ads and signs indicating where it is along the road between Vila do Bispo and Sagres. It has many luxurious villas, in this place give much importance to children and babies. There is a nursery, a pedal-karting circuit, several parks for children, a supermarket near the reception, about 50 meters away. It is an ideal resort for those who like to be close to the beach, nature, hiking, birdwatching, cycling, water sports such as snorkling and surfing.
Perfect place for a family vacation! Great mix of originality (we had an Ocean House, which was well equipped) and the benefits of a hotel. The exclusive location on the very suitable for children's sandy beach completes the overall impression of the hotel. Staff consistently friendly. We'll be back for sure and it'll be twice as long :-)
Unfortunately no recommendation. At these prices, one expects great comfort and good service. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. The service, especially in the restaurants, leaves a lot to be desired and you have to pay extra for everything. You even have to pay extra for childcare even though we are in a children's hotel and an overnight stay costs around 700 euros. Here you can not get rid of the feeling of being excluded as a guest on every corner and receiving poor service in return. I do NOT recommend this hotel (anymore).
Nice family resort, great apartments/villa s . Really good breakfast. Loads of play areas and facilities for children from baby till ... fantastic holiday!
Excellent location and great beach reception staff efficient and helpful. Appartment not in very good condition and not properly clean. Kids service lots of options some very good some so so
